Lil Wayne, Paris Hilton Bond Over Jail Time In Interview

The rapper and the heiress also discuss astrology, animals and, of course, music in the April issue of the magazine. By James Montgomery Lil Wayne Photo: Alexander Tamargo/Getty Images In the April issue of Interview magazine , Lil Wayne and Paris Hilton bond over their love of animals, music and Miami hotspots … and, of course, their time behind bars, too. In a cross-country phone call — Wayne was at home in Miami while Hilton was taking a break from shooting a reality series in Los Angeles — the pair discussed a variety of topics (Googling themselves, the paparazzi, astrology, etc.,), but really broke the ice when the conversation turned to their respective jail sentences. Wayne did eight months at New York’s Rikers Island after a gun-possession arrest, while Hilton famously served 23 days in 2007 following a parole violation. “For me, it was OK, because it just meant that I was alone in my thoughts,” Wayne said when asked about the portion of his sentence he served in solitary confinement, after being caught with an MP3 player. “There were times when it was pretty tough to be by yourself, and to have no television, no nothing. That was kind of tough.” “I had to do 24 nights in solitary,” Hilton added [during her sentence, she was held in a separate cell as a safety precaution]. “Oh, so you know how it is?” Wayne responded. “Yeah, I know how it is,” Hilton said. The discussion then turned to being released from prison — an experience Wayne said “words cannot explain,” and one Hilton called “the best feeling in the world” — and how that newfound freedom affects the individual. “You’re definitely more in tune to what you’re doing. You’re definitely more humble,” Wayne explained. “I think that most people who come out of that situation just want to make the most of life afterwards. Honestly, it was just one big humbling experience.” And in keeping with that life-affirming sentiment — following some in-depth talk about travel and zodiac signs and Weezy’s pet sharks — both Wayne and Hilton discussed what’s next for them: Hilton said she’d “really love” to finish her long-in-the-works second album, while Wayne … well, he has more tangible goals. “I want to bank a cool $50 million at least,” he said. “At the end of the year, I want to be able to say that I banked $50 million. Not generated $50 million, but actually banked $50 million.” Related Photos Lil Wayne Heads To Rikers Island Moments In Paris Hilton’s Legal Life Related Artists Lil Wayne Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton ‘s racist side rears its ugly head again thanks to a new book by bestelling author Neil Strauss. During their conversation, Hilton talked about the breast augmentation she had done at age 14 and how her mother made her get the implants removed, her desire to pose for Playboy Magazine, and how she almost slept with an actor rumored to be Vin Diesel, until she found out that he was part black. “HILTON: I went out with that guy last night. Which guy? HILTON ( points to an actor in Saving Private Ryan): We were making out, but then we went somewhere where it was bright and I saw that he was black and made an excuse and left. I can’t stand black guys. I would never touch one. It’s gross. (pauses). Does that guy look black to you? How black does a guy have to be? Simon Cowell And L.A. Reid Discuss ‘X Factor’ Rumors

Cowell tells Ryan Seacrest that the TV talent competition’s final two judges may be revealed ‘in the next week.’ By Eric Ditzian Simon Cowell Photo: Ian Derry / FOX Simon Cowell called in to his former “American Idol” buddy Ryan Seacrest’s radio show on Wednesday morning (March 23), and in between zinging each other — Simon, for instance, sarcastically suggesting “Idol” needs more mentions that this year’s talent is the best ever, because 16 times isn’t enough — the duo dished a bit of news about the Brit TV personality’s upcoming reality competition, “The X Factor.” While rumors continue to swirl about who will join Cowell and former Island Def Jam chief L.A. Reid on the judging panel, Simon disclosed that he’s eyeing two hosts for the show, much like “Idol” during its first season. Unlike “Idol,” though, which featured Seacrest and Brian Dunkleman during its inaugural season, “X Factor” is targeting both a male and female host. “I think on this show it would be helpful to have two,” Cowell said. While Cowell had no announcements to make about the other judges that will be joining the panel, he did say news will be coming shortly. “Maybe in the next week we’re going to announce the final two,” he revealed. And what about those Nicki Minaj rumors? When Reid joined the conversation and Seacrest asked about a possible meeting between Reid and Minaj, the ex-label boss playfully stumbled though his words and said any such meeting would have nothing to do with “X Factor.” “We’ve got to find people who we like,” Cowell said about other judges. “You’ve got contracts, you’ve got dates, you change your mind, you meet new people. Literally just today, somebody else’s name has come into the frame. It happens.” Cowell, of course, didn’t mention who that new person was. But, he said, the new judge has got to be someone he trusts, much like Reid, who he’s known personally and professionally for a long time. “Simon and I have been friends for many, many years,” Reid explained. “When I met Simon, I thought he was a huge star, and if he could sing, I would have signed him … One day, Simon reached out to me [about joining ‘X Factor’] and, Simon, your exact words were, ‘Are your ears burning?’ ” Who would you like to see on the ‘X Factor’ judging panel? Tell us in the comments.

Nate Dogg’s Death Was ‘A Crushing Blow,’ Warren G Says

‘I’m hurting,’ Warren tells MTV News after raucous SXSW tribute to late friend. By James Montgomery Kurupt and Warren G Photo: MTV News On Saturday night at South by Southwest, Warren G , Daz, Kurupt and Snoop Dogg paid homage to their late friend Nate Dogg with a raucous tribute show that celebrated the music of a man who lived every day to the fullest. And while the mood onstage was definitely joyous — the quartet performed many of the songs Nate leant his voice to, in a poignant tribute to his talents — backstage at Austin’s Venue 222, things were much more muted. In fact, when Warren G spoke to MTV News about his late cohort, he didn’t hide the fact that he (and everyone who ever knew Nate Dogg) was still hurting inside. In fact, starting with the moment he heard the news of Nate’s passing, things have been far from normal. “I was out on the Sweat Tour with Snoop, and we had got the word from his family on what was going on, and it was just a crushing blow for us,” Warren said. “Just, from going to see him and lifting his spirits up when he was in therapy, and stuff like that, it’s just crazy for that to happen. And I still don’t believe it, you know what I’m saying? “It kind of hurts me when I look at this shirt [the organizers of the SXSW tribute show sold Nate Dogg T-shirts, with proceeds going to the late singer’s family], it’s like, ‘Damn, that’s my homeboy on this shirt,’ ” he continued. “And I’m hurting, and you know, a lot of people are showing tons of support for his family, for his homeboys, and we really and truly appreciate that. It’s real love.” And though they took the stage that night with a heavy heart, Warren and his cohorts also did it knowing that their friend was with them in spirit, and that by honoring his music, they were also honoring a man they all knew and loved. “It means a lot, you know, because this is something that’s being done for a person that we really love. It’s deeper than music, that’s a brother to us, to me and Kurupt and Snoop and Daz … it’s really deeper than that,” he said. “I mean, like, I’m not a psychic or a genie or a gypsy or anything, but I know deep down in my heart he’s around us, he’s with us … he’s with us in spirit. Everything we do, he’s a part of it.” Related Photos 2011 SXSW Music Festival Nate Dogg: A Life In Photos Related Artists Nate Dogg Warren G

Robert Pattinson’s MTV Live Chat: Everything He Said About ‘Twilight’

From ‘Breaking Dawn’ to leading lady Kristen Stewart, RPattz was an open book. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Robert Pattinson Photo: MTV News Robert Pattinson likes his leading ladies “hot,” thinks his “Breaking Dawn” love scene with Kristen Stewart is “funny” and looks back at his first “Twilight” red carpet and thinks, “I looked like an old alcoholic.” Yes, we ranged far and wide across the “Twilight” universe on Friday night during “MTV First: Robert Pattinson,” a 30-minute live chat with the 24-year-old star. In fact, we hit so many topics of interest to fans of the vampire franchise that we’ve gathered them all on one page. Consider this a Twi-cheat sheet: everything Pattinson had to say about the series: On Kristen Stewart While Rob drew a line of comparison between his “Twilight” co-star and other leading ladies with whom he’s shared the screen — “I like being in movies with lots of hot girls,” he laughed — he also pointed out how different he is from Stewart . “I like the kind of cerebral aspect of things, and she has kind of an immediate emotional response to stuff every single time,” he said about making various acting choices. “She’s like, ‘Why can’t you understand? It’s obvious. You don’t know. You shouldn’t be an actor!’ ” Unsurprisingly, the duo’s upcoming “Breaking Dawn” love scene — which we got a peek at in a photo earlier this year — also cropped up during the conversation. “You’ve got to really know what you’re doing. If it’s just a sort of arbitrary love scene, it’d be quite difficult,” he explained. “The one on ‘Breaking Dawn’ is pretty funny.” On “Breaking Dawn” Of all the new talent joining the franchise, 10-year-old Mackenzie Foy , who plays Edward and Bella’s daughter , is the one everyone has an eye on. “She’s a great actress. She’s really sweet,” Pattinson told us. “She has to do a hard part as well, because she’s doing — I don’t want to get into special-effects stuff — but she’s playing a baby in some scenes. Oh, man, some of the stuff is so strange. I mean, we’ve done very strange things on the ‘Breaking Dawn’ shoot.” Rob also dished a bit about the musical aspects of the upcoming films, shooting down a rumor that he’ll sing a lullaby but revealing he will show off some of his musical abilities . “I did play some piano. I’m not sure if that’s supposed to be secret,” he said. “I was very impressed. I hadn’t played piano in years, and I learned it in about 10 seconds.” On Revisiting the Past While we had Rob live and in studio, we couldn’t help but flash back to our first-ever “Twilight” interview back in the spring of 2008. Though much time has passed, Pattinson said that now, much like then, he still can’t quite grasp the full breadth of Twi-mania. What has changed, he added, is how he acts during interviews. “I never got that I was supposed to be talking about ‘Twilight.’ I thought I had to be funny all the time and that’s it,” he said. But he doesn’t regret trying to be the always-on funnyman. Looking back on the last few years, Pattinson told us he really has just one regret . “I wouldn’t have worn the suit I wore for the first ‘Twilight’ premiere. It was too small,” he said. “I was also a little bit nervous, so I had a couple of drinks beforehand. I look like an old alcoholic.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .
