‘Jersey Shore’ Star The Situation To Launch Clothing Line

Mike Sorrentino follows JWoww into the world of couture fashion. By Gil Kaufman Mike Sorrentino aka The Situation Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Move over, JWoww, you’re not the only “Jersey Shore” castmember preparing for the catwalk. Just a few weeks after his housemate debuted a piece from her upcoming Filthy Couture line at the MTV Movie Awards, budding rapper Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is getting in the clothes game as well. The Sitch has teamed up with irreverent New York-based fashion house Dilligaf (look up the acronym ) to launch his own couture line. According to a press release announcing the deal, the “line of high-quality wearable art” will debut next month and run the gamut from T-shirts and sweatshirts to accessories, including hats. A spokesperson for the company said on Wednesday (June 23) that the vibrantly colored clothes will feature a variety of accents including foiling, cross-stitching and nail heads, noting that Sorrentino has been very involved in the design process. “Mike ‘The Situation’ embodies our irreverent approach to life,” Jodi Massry, president of Dilligaf by Bohica Bill, said in the release. “He lives the ‘let’s not take things so seriously’ mentality every day. Dilligaf’s followers and the Sitch are kindred spirits. Anyone who watches his show knows that he is all about living life to the fullest and enjoying every day.” Massry said the seven-year-old brand approached Sorrentino because they thought his creativity and style would be a perfect fit for their street wear brand. The clothes will be available online at DilligafUSA.com and in retail stores nationwide around the time of the July 29 launch of the second season of “Jersey Shore.” Would you wear clothes designed by the Situation? The first of the Fox-authorized publications will be a prequel to the TV series titled ‘Glee: The Beginning.’ By Mawuse Ziegbe The cast of “Glee” Photo: FOX “Glee” may have wrapped up its first season , but Gleeks jonesing for more Slushie-drenched drama will soon be able to hit the books and bone up on all the musical theater madness — literally. Entertainment Weekly reports that publisher Little, Brown Books for Young Readers will publish a collection of tomes based on the hit TV series. Unauthorized books based on the breakout show are already on the market, but the Fox TV team behind “Glee” will work with Little, Brown on the content for the upcoming volumes. The first book in the series, “Glee: The Beginning,” a prequel to the TV show, is set to land on bookshelves in August. The volume will arrive with a poster and is expected to be available by the time “Glee” heads back to the airwaves for its second season. Chock-full of earnest revamps of classic and contemporary hits, the albums have ruled the charts, with “Glee”: The Music, Volume 3 Showstoppers and “Glee”: The Music, The Power of Madonna both landing at #1 on the Billboard albums chart .

‘God of War 3’ Ending Could Have Been Much Darker

Director Stig Asmussen explains why he made the trilogy conclude on a more hopeful note. By Russ Frushtick God Of War 3 Photo: Sony With the release of “God of War 3” on Tuesday (March 16), players finally get to experience the culmination of Kratos’ quest for revenge. What they may not know is that the ending they’ll be playing was very different two years ago, when the game had a different director behind it. MTV News spoke with Stig Asmussen , who ultimately took the reins as game director, about where the story might have gone had original helmer Cory Barlog remained on the team. Asmussen says that Barlog, who left Sony to work with writer-director George Miller, “had a certain kind of idea and design for the plot and story” that had a “fantastic layout.” But once in control of the fate of “God of War 3,” Asmussen felt it was important to make the project his own, and the story was a big part of that. “There were some things about the plot that I didn’t think were fully fleshed out, and I thought that it was really important that I was able to inject a story into the game that I was really passionate about and really understood,” he said. “So, we changed the story quite a bit. I worked with Marianne [Krawczyk], a writer on ‘God of War 1’ and ‘2’ and some other key people on the team who helped write the story.” Under Asmussen’s direction, the ending of “God of War 3” became much brighter, with a message of hope in the wake of carnage. That contrasts dramatically with what Barlog had been planning. “[Barlog’s] idea was that it ends with death,” explained Asmussen. “Death was the theme. I wanted something that was a little bit more hopeful than that.” Despite the brighter message in the end, “God of War 3” remains a remarkably dark, violent experience throughout most if its 10-hour length. There should be no concern about Kratos, the series’ twisted anti-hero, going soft, especially after players see his first visceral decapitation. But it does make one wonder what the future holds for the franchise and whether the dark days are over. We wouldn’t bet on it. For more on “God of War 3,” visit Multiplayer.MTV.com .

President Obama launches plan to overhaul No Child Left Behind. About damn time!

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news , world news , and news about the economy I have to admit I am more than a little apprehensive with the President’s plan. I ma definitely in the camp that sees NCLB as a steaming pile of shit, and it is hard to see ANY changes to hat bill as being bad, but I wonder if what Obama is planning will really do the job of reforming education in this country. Here are some of the features in the President’s education reform blueprint. — By 2020, all students graduating from high school would need to be ready for college or a career. That’s a shift away from the current law, which calls for all students to be performing at grade level in reading and math by 2014. Okay this sounds promising. — Give more rewards — money and flexibility — to high-poverty schools that are seeing big gains in student achievement and use them as a model for other schools in low-income neighborhoods that struggle with performance. I like the idea of rewarding good teachers, and more flexibility will really help teachers to use their creativity to address teaching challenges. — Punish the lowest-performing 5 percent of schools using aggressive measures, such as having the state take over federal funding for poor students, replacing the principal and half the teaching staff or closing the school altogether. No.
