James McAvoy To Star In ‘X-Men: First Class’

Actor has been cast as a young Charles Xavier. By Adam Rosenberg James McAvoy Photo: Getty Images The X-Men are coming back, but not the way most know them. Fox is prepping “X-Men: First Class” for a June 3, 2011, release, and the big news is that James McAvoy will star as a young Charles Xavier, better known by his superhero name, Professor X. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news Thursday, though there’s no word yet whether McAvoy’s younger X will sport the older character’s trademark baldness. Previous “X-Men” movies, which have drawn characters directly from the comics, feature an older Charles Xavier played by Patrick Stewart. In “X-Men: First Class,” the story rolls the mythology back to a time long before Cyclops, Jean Grey and the rest of the crew lived and learned under the tutelage of Stewart’s Professor X. Next year’s movie will instead focus on the relationship between Charles Xavier and Eric Lensherr, the mutant who one day becomes supervillain and X-Men arch-nemesis Magneto. Before they parted ways, Xavier and Lensherr were close friends and allies. According to Fox’s description, “First Class” finds the two working together “with other mutants (some familiar, some new) to stop the greatest threat that the world has ever known.” These events directly inform their split, with Xavier going off to form his crime-fighting mutant X-Men while Lensherr assembles the more militant, human-hating Brotherhood. For McAvoy, “First Class” isn’t exactly new territory. The actor previously starred in “Wanted,” Timur Bekmambetov’s slick action movie loosely adapted from the Mark Millar comic books. Next year’s “X-Men” will be directed by Matthew Vaughn, who also has some recent comics experience, adapting Millar’s “Kick-Ass.” The story for “First Class” comes from “X-Men” and “Superman Returns” director Bryan Singer, who will produce with Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg. Suge Knight Is ‘100 Percent’ Innocent, Lawyer Says

Death Row Records founder was arrested earlier this week for assault with a deadly weapon. By Jayson Rodriguez Suge Knight Photo: Mike Guastella/ Getty Images Suge Knight’s lawyer claims the Death Row founder is “100 percent” innocent after his client was arrested earlier this week for assault with a deadly weapon. According to attorney Marc Brumer, Knight was in the area to take a business meeting, and the man who reported the incident made a false claim against the hip-hop mogul. “There was never a gun found,” Brumer told CNN on Friday (May 21) in a telephone interview. “[Knight] was very cooperative, answered all the questions police had, and we just feel that he shouldn’t have been arrested.” Knight was taken into custody after police were told that he drew a firearm against an unidentified man. A Los Angeles Police Department spokesman confirmed the arrest to MTV News and said Knight was charged with a felony count and also a misdemeanor for driving with a suspended license. Knight’s bail was set at $65,000, and Brumer said his client posted bond and has since been released. Police told MTV News on Thursday that there is an “ongoing investigation” regarding the case. Brumer suggested that Knight is not the type to carry a gun, despite his checkered criminal past; Knight was sentenced to nine years in prison in 1996 for violating his probation after striking a parking-lot attendant. Knight’s attorney said jealousy was at the center of the false accusation against his client. He also said Knight is trying to regain his footing in the entertainment world. Last year, the Death Row Records assets were sold to a Canadian company in an auction after Knight declared bankruptcy. “He’s working with new artists, starting a record label, looking into sports-management companies,” Brumer said. “A reality show on his life is also a possibility. “He’s really an icon in the music industry and really looked up to in the African-American community,” he continued. “He’s a bright man. He wouldn’t carry a gun on him. That’s not him.”

Diddy Describes His Prison Visit With Lil Wayne

‘It wouldn’t have been right if I didn’t go see him and check on his health and well-being,’ he tells MTV News. By Shaheem Reid, with additional reporting by Josh Horowitz Photo: Universal There was no big spectacle when Diddy visited his friend Lil Wayne earlier this month at New York’s Rikers Island. There are no pictures or video footage. Diddy told MTV News he just wanted to check in on a friend who always came through in the clutch for him. “Wayne is a trooper,” Diddy said Tuesday (May 18) while promoting his June 4 film, “Get Him to the Greek.” ” Wayne is doing great. It was a personal visit, so I don’t want to get into the details of that. We’re just counting down the days of him getting out. He’s somebody that has been there for me over the years numerous times. I live in New York. It wouldn’t have been right if I didn’t go see him and check on his health and well-being. But the status of where that’s at, that’s his personal business.” One of the ways Wayne came through for Puffy was shooting a video for Diddy-Dirty Money’s Last Train to Paris album, due June 28. “On Last Train to Paris, Wayne is on the album, Drake is on the album, we’re trying to get Hov on the album, trying to get Janelle Mon&#225e on the album,” Diddy told MTV News in March. “Everybody that’s on the album, it’s not done in a regular appearance way. It’s done in a unique way that’s authentic. It’s not about a single or [album sales]. It doesn’t have that behind it. Wayne is on a record that’s called ‘Strobe Lights.’ It’s one of the first records where I hear him talking about love and how love has affected him. That’s the type of things I wanted to get out of people if they were on the album. I wanted people to get out of their comfort zone and do something that was special. He did the video for me over the weekend. ‘Strobe Lights,’ it’s gonna be tough.” Diddy also said Wayne’s absence from the scene is a big loss. “I think we gonna miss a certain energy that Wayne has,” Diddy said. “The beauty about it is, he’ll be back, and hopefully he’ll come back a better person. Whenever we get in trouble, we’re in the public spotlight. So hopefully there’s a lot of kids out there who could learn from any mistakes that we may have put ourselves in, even if we’re not guilty of the crime sometimes. We are human. People have to learn: ‘Make sure you know where you’re going, who you riding with, what the situation is.’ We’re targets. I’m just happy he doesn’t have to do a lot of time and that he’ll be out, and hopefully he’ll use the time wisely and use it in a positive way.” What do you think about Diddy visiting Lil Wayne in prison? How Your Son Could End Up on the Sex Offender List

Let's say your son turns 18. He gets a job at the local carnival, running the ride where the kids lie face down and spin around till they shriek with delight (or puke). Before each ride he has to buckle the kids in so they don't fly out. But then — tragedy strikes. Oh, don't worry. Nobody goes flying. They're buckled just fine. But one girl does tell her mother, “He touched my bottom!” The mom alerts the police. The police come over and ask, “Is that true?” Your son replies, “Maybe. I have to lock the bar around their waists and between their legs. They squirm. It could have happened.” The next day the police take him in for questioning. They ask him the same thing, this time with the videotape running. He gives them the same answer. It is considered his confession. He is convicted of “Indecent Assault and Battery on a Child.” He goes to jail for nine months. He is put on the Sex Offender Registry — for life. Meantime, a few years later, your younger son is now 18. He's at the urinal in the school bathroom during a weekend service project. A girl too young to read bursts in and he yells, “Out out out! Get out!” She starts crying and leaves. Her mom is concerned. The police are called. Was he in the men's room with a girl? Well, yes. Since everyone agrees the girl was not touched, he is convicted of “Visual Sexual Aggression Against a Child” — the crime of having a child see his genitals. He does six months in jail. He's placed on the Sex Offender Registry for the next 10 years. Let us remember this when we look up our local sex offender maps and see two convicts: One who ostensibly exposes himself to children and one who ostensibly assaults them. We consult those maps because, as parents, we are hardwired to worry about our children. We worry about them getting hurt by strangers. But few of us worry about them getting hurt by strange laws that can put a young man behind bars for touching a child, even accidentally, on the bottom, in public, with everyone's clothes on. Or for having a child, even accidentally, glimpse his private parts. I spoke to the actual mom of these two young men. She's a fishing net-maker in Maine and she put it pretty succinctly: “We're all just one accusation away from the sex offender registry.” http://www.parentdish.com/2010/05/11/how-your-son-could-end-up-on-the-sex-offend… http://rlv.zcache.com/sex_offender_tshirt-p235725848455673961c29z_400.jpg added by: MotherForTruth

11-Foot Giant Oarfish Found Dead Along Western Coast Of Sweden

In a small fishing village Bovallstrand in western coast of Sweden, a passerby  found a giant herring that measures 11.4 feet long. The giant fish is known for its name oarfish which can grow from 8 meters up to 17 meters long.  The scientific name is regalecus glesne. The maritime museum said that it took 130 years to see that kind of specie again in their coast. Passerby Kurt Ove Eriksson said, “Down at the water, there was something big floating. At first we thought it was a big piece of plastic. But then we saw an eye. I went down to check and saw that it was this extremely strange fish,” , told daily Svenska Dagbladet. “The last time we saw a King of Herrings in Sweden was in 1879,” the House of the Sea museum in Lysekil, where the fish was taken to, said in a statement. “We don’t know much about the species,” it said, “but believe it lives in deep waters, at least 1000 meters (3280 feet) deep, and many believe it’s at the origin of the sea serpent myth,” or stories of mythological sea creatures like the Loch Ness Monster. It is now kept frozen at a museum and it might be added as an exhibit of sea monsters. 11-Foot Giant Oarfish Found Dead Along Western Coast Of Sweden is a post from: Daily World Buzz Continue reading
