MC talks to MTV News about working with the former Roc-A-Fella CEO, whom he is reportedly suing for selling his music without permission. By Rob Markman Curren$y Photo: Rahav Segev/ Getty Images Curren$y and Damon Dash may not see eye to eye, but the Hot Spitter admits that he learned a lot trying to do business with his one-time friend. On Sunday, TMZ reported that Curren$y filed a lawsuit against Dame claiming that the former Roc-A-Fella CEO was selling his music without permission and is now seeking $1.5 million in damages. During an interview with MTV News last week, the New Orleans MC admitted that he has learned a lot working with Dash, as well as other notable CEOs he was once signed to like Master P and Birdman. “You run the list, I’ve picked up game from all of them, man, Master P, Baby. Me and Wayne made hours and hours and hours and hours’ worth of music in the studio, Dame,” Curren$y told MTV News on March 21. “I been around some people, made moves and soaked it all up.” In the early 2000s, Curren$y, as a member of the 504 Boyz, was signed to No Limit Records, where he appeared on a number of label releases. “What I got from P was the amount of projects there should always be, something happening from your label to keep you relevant,” he said. “Something should always be poppin’.” He then inked with Lil Wayne’s Young Money company, developing a unique recording process alongside Weezy, with whom he appeared on several mixtape tracks. “What I got from Cash Money, what I got from being around Wayne so much I guess the studio work,” he said. “We had the same work ethic and that’s how I realized I wasn’t crazy.” Next Curren$y hooked up with Dame Dash’s DD172 label, and together they released Pilot Talk and Pilot Talk II in 2010. According to TMZ, while both albums were released through Dash’s label, the two had never reached a concrete agreement. Spitta then went ahead and signed with Warner Bros. , where he dropped Weekend at Burnie’s through his own imprint, Jet Life, in 2011. Now Curren$y is demanding that Dame stop selling his LPs. Dash claims that he is well within his rights and that the rapper did in fact grant him permission, but a judge has yet to rule on the case. Even though the union is now marred in negativity, Curren$y contends that it was a learning experience. “With my last situation, I think I’ve learned more about the business,” he said, referencing Dame’s DD172. “I’ve learned more about the business through that prior situation.” Related Artists Curren$y

Justin Bieber recently sent out a tweet to his 19 million Twitter followers with a random phone number that was missing the final digit and wrote, “Call me right now.” Of course, 19 million Beliebers took that number and ran with it and guessed what the final digit could be. As a result, an older woman named Dilcie and a man named Kent from Texas received the bulk of the calls and want to sue Justin. The clients lawyer says that their patience “wears thin” because they’ve received over 1000 phone calls at “all hours of the day.” Basically they want Bieber to pay for “damages” for his “reckless” behavior. The British comedian turned himself in at the New Orleans Sheriff’s office in connection with an iPhone tossing incident and he was swiftly booked on two misdemeanor counts of simple criminal damage to property valued at $700 and then sent on his way. According to TMZ, Brand was sprung from jail in short order after posting $5,000 bond in the case, in which he is accused of grabbing a photographer’s iPhone and tossing it through the window of a downtown law office. An arrest warrant was issued for Brand on Wednesday and the “Arthur” star made no attempt to hide his part in the phone flap. Earlier this week he responded to the news by posting on his Rustyrockets Twitter feed, writing, “Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iPhone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory.” Paparazzo Timothy Jackson filed a police report immediately after the incident that claimed “criminal damages.” Jackson got his phone back and Brand agreed to pay for the window, but police still issued the warrant. TMZ also reported that Brand’s people have already paid for the broken window, handing over $240 to repair it last night. Brand is the second celeb to run afoul of the law recently after grabbing someone else’s phone. Last month,

What are we to make of the upset SAG win for “The Help” in outstanding cast in a movie, for instance? Where does this leave “The Artist,” which had been looking increasingly, inevitably like the big champ come Oscar night, yet only won outstanding male performance (Jean Dujardin) at the SAGs? Things were more predictable on the TV side of things. Jimmy Fallon is being accused of gender-based favoritism at work. Bu a guy. A fired staff member’s suing Jimmy and NBC Universal for discrimination. In a lawsuit, Paul Tarascio claims he was dropped from his position as first stage manager at Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and replaced by a “totally incompetent woman.” Tarascio thus accuses Fallon of “gender bias.” Tarascio also alleges his replacement was “a less qualified woman” who constantly asked him how to do the job, and screwed up her stage manager duties. He claims other male staffers on the night owl program, such as audio technicians and a Prop-Master, were also replaced by women at Jimmy’s request. Tarascio says the director said “Jimmy just prefers to take direction from a woman and “knowingly fabricated alleged performance issues” about Tarascio. A friend tells Radar Online that Cook – who allegedly started his relationship with the former American Idol victor while still married – is the same dishonest man he’s always been. “Antwaun has been cheating on Fantasia all along, just like he cheated on his wife with Fantasia,” this insider says . “She was silly to think he’d remain faithful… She purposely had this baby with him hoping he’d be a devoted father and boyfriend.” This pal says Cook isn’t merely pulling a Tiger Woods, either, banging random cocktail waitresses: he’s actually tried to reconcile with his ex-wife! “He tries to get Paula to take him back all the time, but she wants nothing to do with him,” the source claim,, adding that Fantasia turns a “blind eye” to the infidelity. Brett Favre destroyed the Minnesota Vikings’ title aspirations two years ago after an ill-advised pick. Now people have a bone to pick with his sister, Brandi Favre, after destroying their house by running an ill-advised METH LAB NEXT DOOR. Brandi was arrested in a massive meth bust in Mississippi last year, and the couple living next door to the alleged meth lab run by the female Favre claims the fumes from the manufacturing process have wreaked havoc on their home. The couple claims a meth screening company detected “widespread meth contamination” in their home right after Brandi Favre’s January 2011 arrest. In any case, the neighbors say they spent five months living elsewhere as their home was returned livable condition – inconvenient and expensive. The couple is now suing Brandi and her alleged accomplices for unspecified damages. Favre’s case is still pending before a grand jury in Mississippi. Experts recommended the entire place be cleaned after living next to Brandi, which makes you wonder about the health of people who actually put meth in their bodies. As for Brett’s efforts to put himself inside Jenn Sterger , that went about as successfully as Brandi’s meth operation … only 20 times funnier.
