Piers Morgan concluded his final broadcast of Piers Morgan Live on Friday by addressing a topic that has become synonymous with this British TV personality: Gun control. The anchor famously went off on a pro-gun panel after a Naval Yard shooting in September. And, even more famously following the tragedy in Newtown in December 2012, asked ” how many more kids have to die ?” before America adopts similar gun laws to those of other first world nations. Here’s a look at what Morgan had to say to wrap up his show last night: Piers Morgan Gun Control Plea And for those who are more visual, here is a transcript of the highlights: I assumed that after 70 people were shot in a movie theater, and then, just a few months later, 20 first-graders were murdered with an assault rifle in an elementary school, the absurd gun laws in this country would change. But nothing has happened. The gun lobby in America, led by the NRA, has bullied this nation’s politicians into cowardly, supine silence. Even when 20 young children are blown away in their classrooms.This is a shameful situation that has made me very angry. So angry, in fact, that some people have criticized me for being too loud, opinionated, even rude when I have debated the issue of guns. But I make no apologies for that. As Sir Winston Churchill said: ‘If you have an important point to make, don’t try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time – a tremendous whack.’ My point is simple: More guns doesn’t mean less crime, as the NRA repeatedly says. It means more gun violence, death and profits for the gun manufacturers. And to those who claim my gun control campaigning has been “anti-American,” the reverse is true. I am so pro-American that I want more of you to stay alive. But I’ve made my point. I’ve given it a tremendous whack. Now it’s down to you. It’s your country; these are your gun laws. Duck Dynasty got serious last night with the show’s fifth season finale. The episode focused on Mia Robertson, 10. The daughter of Jase and Missy Robertson was born with a cleft palate and received corrective surgery. If you watch Duck Dynasty online , you’re “gonna go from gut-wrenching laughter to crying, because it’s very sweet,” Missy tells People of Mia’s ordeal. Adds Jase Robertson, the laid-back brother famous for his no-worries attitude: “I was never an emotional guy until I had a daughter who had problems.” “When you hand your daughter off to some doctors and you know they’re going to cut on her, that’s tough. I lost it. So much for not being emotional.” Were they worried about the public scrutiny Mia (seen with mom, dad and big brothers Reed and Cole above) might face as a result of the episode? “Of course, that was a worry,” says Jase. “There have been times when kids made fun of her for how she looks. We’ve had to have some serious talks about it.” The Robertsons formed the Mia Moo Fund, whose slogan is “Because Every Kid Deserves A Smile,” to raise awareness and help children with similar problems. “We hope after [ Duck Dynasty Season 5 Episode 10 ], people will connect with us even more,” says Missy. “I wrote a song with Gary Chapman about it, and Mia sings on it.” “It’s called ‘Angel Child’ … I hope it shows our hearts.” One of the biggest struggles of the past year for the family? Gross… Woman Finds Object That Looks Like A Dead Chicken In Daughter’s Soup When they say Campbell’s chicken soup… they really mean it. According to The Denver Channel: A mother says she found an unappetizing object floating in a container of soup that clearly did not belong in her daughter’s meal. “It’s like a train wreck — you can’t stop looking at,” Nicole Montgomery said. “I keep looking at it and thinking, ‘How does this happen?’ I have no idea.” Montgomery says she poured the single-serving can of Campbell’s Chicken and Stars soup into a bowl to heat it up for her daughter Molly. She noticed the strange lump when she took the bowl out of the microwave. “I opened it up, and there was this spec in there — I was like, ‘What is that?’ I looked a little bit closer and I was like, ‘Oh, that looks like a dead chicken.’” The object is shaped like a lima bean, nearly twice the size of the star-shaped noodles that give the soup its name. Several dark and narrow appendages reach upward from the core of the bean-shaped lump. “I just can’t stop thinking about it,” Montgomery said. “It makes me sick to my stomach to think about what was in that soup. I know things get in the manufacturing process all the time, but this is a big company that should know a little bit better.” Campbell’s Soup Company issued this statement: “Campbell Soup Company takes all claims of product contamination very seriously. Whenever we receive such a claim, it is fully investigated by our Quality Assurance team to determine its possible cause. We are in the process of evaluating the claim and have not yet received the exhibit from the consumer to conduct our investigation.” A spokeswoman said a FedEx box is en route to Montgomery’s house for the exhibit.
