Love the Way You Lie: The Official Music Video

Just gonna stand there and watch me burn. But that’s alright because I love the way it hurts… Rihanna and Eminem already own the number-one song in the land. Now this power duo has come out with a hit video for the single “Love the Way You Lie.” And it stars Megan Fox ! What else could you ask for? Watch below and then read Rihanna’s take on the tune: Love the Way You Lie The song deals with domestic violence, something Rihanna says she and Eminem “have both experienced… on different sides.” She’s referring, of course, to Eminem’s problems with his ex-wife and her relationship with that monster Chris Brown . Adds the beautiful star: “It just was authentic. It was real. It was believable for us to do a record like that, but it was also something that needed to be done, and the way he did it was so clever. He pretty much just broke down the cycle of domestic violence, and it’s something that a lot people don’t have a lot of insight on.” What do you think of the video?

Dominic Monaghan Dishes On Kissing Megan Fox In Eminem Video

‘Lost’ actor smooches with Fox in ‘Love the Way You Lie,’ premiering Thursday. By Gil Kaufman Megan Fox and Dominic Monaghan on the set of the music video for “Love the Way You Lie” Photo: Eric Ford/ On Location News When shooting the clip for the chart-topping hit “Love the Way You Lie,” it helped that Dominic Monaghan was a huge Eminem fan. But it also didn’t hurt that the shoot called for him to engage in a make-out session with former “Transformers” hottie Megan Fox. “What is it like kissing Megan Fox? It’s all right,” he laughed. “No I’m just kidding. It’s fine, it’s work. She’s married. I have a lot of respect for marriage.” Aware of her recent nuptials to Brian Austin Green, Monaghan revealed that one of the first things he said to Fox when they got on set was, “Look, I know that you’re married and I don’t want to do anything inappropriate. And she said, ‘It’s all kind of inappropriate, huh?’ ” In a theme the rapper has come back to time and again, Monaghan said the concept of the clip revolves around domestic violence and Eminem’s tumultuous relationship with his twice-ex wife, Kim. “It’s the story of them getting to know each other and it’s the story of their tumultuous relationship and it’s the story of the breakdown of their relationship,” Monaghan explained of the video, which will premiere on Thursday night on MTV, hot on the heels of Eminem’s eight VMA nominations . In order to tap into the sometimes contentious camaraderie that Marshall and Kim have shared over the years, Monaghan hearkened back to some of the most notorious couples of all time. “We’re supposed to be desperately in love, like Sid and Nancy, John and Yoko … Eminem and Kim,” he said. “Though I tried as hard as I could to make her laugh and have fun with her. I think we got on pretty well.” In one scene in a bar, Monaghan described a scenario where he has to roll up on another gentleman who is talking to Fox’s character, and the actress asked what she should call him when he comes over and is about to hit the guy. “I said, call me Slim,” he said. ” ‘Cuz that’s who I am essentially. I was playing Slim Shady and trying as hard as I could to be Slim Shady.” For motivation, the German-born, British-bred actor said he listened to Em’s first two albums a lot and tried to get into a “nasty, dirty … white trash” frame of mind, strutting around the set in either no shirt or a dirty cut-off T-shirt and thinking about one of his favorite snacks, Twinkies. Fox donated her fee for appearing in the clip to the Sojourn House, a shelter for abused women and children. Don’t forget to tune in to MTV on Thursday at 9 p.m. ET/PT for the premiere of Eminem’s “Love the Way You Lie,” and check MTVNews.com for full coverage of the clip. Related Artists Eminem

B.o.B Says VMA Nominations Are ‘Very Special To Me’

‘This reflects the work I’ve put in over the years and the word of mouth I’ve helped create,’ he tells MTV News. Young Buck’s House Raided By IRS

Former G-Unit rapper reportedly owes $300,000 in unpaid taxes. By Hillary Crosley Young Buck Photo: Arnold Turner/ WireImage If Wesley Snipes’ recent jail sentence for tax evasion wasn’t warning enough not to mess with Uncle Sam, then celebs can also learn from Young Buck’s run-in Tuesday (August 3) with the IRS — at gunpoint. While Buck’s lawyers filed a motion last month to protect his assets, the former G-Unit MC’s house was raided Tuesday by the United States Internal Revenue Service for $300,000 in unpaid taxes. Ultimately, the rapper was allowed to keep his home and his car; however, many of the items inside were seized. “The worst part of this isn’t the material stuff — that will all be replaced,” Buck said in a statement. “It’s what it does to the people around me. They took my kids’ PlayStation, my assistants’ computers, and baby’s mothers’ jewelry. They took my home studio so I can’t even record.” Buck blamed his record label for the raid and vowed to never be in this position again. “I have a new team in place, but I am also paying full attention now,” the statement continued. “Nothing like this will ever happen again. This is a huge wake-up call for all entertainers to stay on top of your own trusted employees and team members, and replace anyone that was put in place by your record label if the situation you have goes sour. This IRS situation came about because I trusted accountants, lawyers and managers to handle my business for me while I focused on making music. From now on, I am going to stay on top of my own business.” Related Artists Young Buck

Eminem, Rihanna Top New Ultimate Chart

‘Love the Way You Lie’ is #1 on BigChampagne’s chart, which factors Internet popularity into its rankings. By Kyle Anderson Eminem Photo: Robyn Beck/ AFP/ Getty Images For half a century, the Billboard Hot 100 has been thought to be the most accurate bellwether of what the biggest songs are. Every week, it takes into account radio airplay and singles sales, puts those numbers into a complicated formula and determines which tracks are becoming ubiquitous and which ones are falling off. But in the modern era, a song’s airplay and sales numbers don’t necessarily tell the whole story, as songs are streamed on YouTube, watched on MTV, posted to Facebook, downloaded through countless blogs and searched for on Google. With that in mind, BigChampagne — an organization that has spent years tracking music on the Internet — has come up with the Ultimate Chart , a listing that synthesizes the statistics from all the various places you can hear music and determines which songs are truly the biggest in the virtual world. The chart itself is the result of hard statistics and human analysis. “The Ultimate Chart is a chart for the 21st century, based on a scalable technology platform developed over more than ten years,” reads the introduction on the site. “We collect billions of points of data, online and off. Our machines are very clever but our analysts are too. Real people grade the computers’ work to ensure accuracy. We collect more relevant information from more sources than anyone ever has, by our count.” The big winners on the new chart include Eminem and Rihanna , whose “Love the Way You Lie” (from Eminem’s Recovery ) is listed as the #1 song, just ahead of Katy Perry’s “California Gurls” (which has had a stranglehold on the Billboard chart for more than a month). Shakira also fares extremely well, as her “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” comes in at #3. That track is an excellent example of how a song can transcend the normal parameters of the other chart, because while the radio airplay for Shakira’s tune wasn’t great, it was still streamed online and searched for around the world due to its connection to the World Cup. A lot of the usual suspects are still represented on the Ultimate Chart. For example, Justin Bieber rules just as he does on the Hot 100, though his highest-charting tune on the Ultimate Chart remains “Baby,” even though “Somebody to Love” is finishing higher on the Billboard version. It wouldn’t be shocking if “Baby” earned that spot due to the surge in YouTube views of the video. Bieber’s YouTube rival Lady Gaga is also well represented on the Ultimate Chart, with three songs (“Alejandro,” “Bad Romance” and “Telephone”) all in the top 20. The Ultimate Chart also tracks the most ubiquitous artists based on airplay, streams, searches and social-network followers and friends. Eminem tops that chart as well, followed by Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Shakira and Drake, which is a deadly accurate assessment of the pop music landscape. Eminem Shouts Out Lil Wayne During Scotland Gig

‘Free Lil Wayne!’ Em shouted before launching into ‘No Love’ at T in the Park festival. By James Montgomery Eminem (file) Photo: Kevin Mazur/ Getty Images He took the stage nearly 45 minutes late — allegedly due to “laser pen fears” — but Eminem more than made up for the delay with a fiery headlining performance on Saturday at the T in the Park festival in Scotland . Em’s made just a handful of live appearances over the past year (his last U.S. gig was a headlining slot at the Voodoo Fest in New Orleans back in October), yet he didn’t show any signs of rust at T, ripping through a 29-song set that spanned his entire career. Backed by a live band, he opened with “Won’t Back Down,” his collaboration with Pink off his comeback Recovery album , then worked through tracks including “3 a.m.” (from last year’s Relapse ), “Kill You” (off The Marshall Mathers LP ) and his breakout “My Name Is” (from 1999’s Slim Shady LP ). Em shouted “Free Lil Wayne!” before launching into “No Love,” the Haddaway-sampling song that features both rappers (obviously, Weezy couldn’t make it to the show). He dedicated “Love the Way You Lie” to “everyone who’s been in a f—ed up relationship” and paid tribute to his late friend (and former D12 member) Proof , telling the Scottish crowd about the time the two had devoured “weed brownies” in Amsterdam and “started speaking in tongues.” The remaining members of D12 joined Em for a run of their hits, including “Purple Pills,” “Fight Music” and “My Band.” He also acknowledged the rainy weather that had dogged the fest throughout the weekend (“I know it’s muddy and sloppy and sh–, but this is fun,” he laughed), and then, just before wrapping his set with an anthemic take on “Lose Yourself,” he thanked the crowd — and his fans worldwide — for sticking with him through the years. “Everybody who’s an Eminem fan, I just wanna say thank you so much for the support you’ve shown over the years, for not giving up on me,” he said. “I hope you enjoyed the show as much as we did tonight. Peace.” Related Artists Eminem Lil Wayne

Eminem ‘Finally Did Justice’ To Late D12 Member Proof With ‘You’re Never Over’

Rapper said he couldn’t get tribute right before recording song from Recovery LP. By Gil Kaufman Eminem and Proof in 1999 Photo: MTV News Eminem tried, and in his eyes failed, to pay tribute to his late friend and D12 partner Proof in the past. Though the subject of Proof’s death in 2006 weighed heavily on his mind, Em couldn’t quite figure out how to put it into words. But on the “Road to Recovery” special on Sirius’ Shade 45 channel last week, the rapper explained that on “You’re Never Over,” from his new Recovery album , he finally put the right bars together. Produced by Just Blaze, the song grinds along on fuzzed-out guitars and a spare beat as Em rhymes, “The days are cold livin’ without you/ The nights are long, I’m growing older/ I miss the days of old, thinkin’ about you/ You may be gone, but you’re never over … If Proof could see me now, I know he’d be proud/ Somewhere in me deep down, there’s something in me he found/ That made him believe in me, no one can beat me now.” “For me, this is the most important song off the record,” Em said of the tune in which he credits his “guardian angel” Proof (born DeShaun Holton) for inspiring him to keep going and not fall victim to his darker tendencies. “It’s a dedication to Proof. It is one of those records that I tried … I had several attempts at making. Every attempt just wasn’t good enough. It was one of those things, I tried a bunch of records and it just didn’t work. Like, ‘This is not good enough, the rhyme’s not crazy enough, the beat’s not crazy enough.’ When I finally got it, I felt like, ‘Thank you, thank you, God for just giving me the strength to be able to write this record and make it feel like it does.’ ” In an uncharacteristically gentle voice on the chorus, in which he sings, “I just miss you,” Slim Shady does his best to croon out the dedication, though he was the first to admit that he’s not a world-class singer. “I guess as long as the emotion is there … But it was one of those moments on the record where I feel like, ‘OK, I finally did Proof some kind of justice by being able to put that together and dump my heart on the record,’ ” he said. “It was one of those things that when it got towards the end of the record, I really didn’t even care about making the rhyme crazy, I just wanted it to say it.” What do you think of Eminem’s dedication to Proof? Eminem? Drake? Fans Name Their Best Albums Of The Year (So Far)

Fans also rep for Christina Aguilera, Jonelle Monae. By James Montgomery Drake Photo: Tim Mosenfelder/ Getty Images Last week we had reached the midway point of 2010, and I wrote my annual “Best Albums of the Year (So Far)” list . And, much like every other year, there were a whole lot of people who had different opinions. It seems that no matter how many albums I choose to highlight (23 this time around), there are always some that I miss … and more often than not, at least one of those albums is by Eminem. Last year, I left Relapse off of my list , and, boy, did the Em fans let me know about it. This year, his Recovery disc failed to make the cut, and once again, the fans were out in full force, voicing their displeasure and calling me all sorts of nasty things. While we could live without the catcalls, we want to know your picks for the best albums of the year so far, and lots of people have written in with theirs (Drake, B.o.B., Christina Aguilera). Oh, and a few folks out there actually agreed with my list, so, hey, let’s hear from them, too — and let us know what your picks are! “What about Eminem’s Recovery? SEVEN of his songs are on the Top 100 Billboard list,” reader Keith wrote. “And also, what about Drake’s Thank Me Later? The numbers show clearly for these guys.” Reader Ian had similar feelings — “Where is B.o.B’s album The Adventures of Bobby Ray? That was incredible.” — as did ConcertConfessions.com — “Dude, you forgot Deftones’ Diamond Eyes. Oh, and I am trying, but just not feeling the new Against Me! Some songs I love, some songs I want to smack them for.” — and Stomp17 (“Where is Gorillaz’ Plastic Beach? That album should at least be number 10 or 9 on the Best of 2010 list [note: It made the list as an ‘Honorable Mention’].” Several people had a lot to say about their picks. MclintM sounded off about Christina Aguilera’s Bionic : “I don’t understand all the backlash and unnecessary criticism with [ Bionic ]. If you give it repeat listens — the whole 24 tracks as it was meant to be … can’t stand label’s deluxe editions now — and have heard previous efforts it all makes sense in her trajectory. Really plays with her voice and is some of the most downright club-worthy stuff she’s ever laid down.” Others drilled down into my picks, singling out Janelle Monae in particular. “Great article!,” reader Mike wrote. “Kudos on a lot of your choices. A couple comments: 1) I think you should check out Foxy Shazam. Their self-titled album came out in April and it is fantastic. They have an incredible amount of energy and talent. 2) I think Robyn deserves higher on the list. Even at eight tracks, the album is really great. She really has a knack for writing great quality pop songs. 3) Others that I think you should consider for your list are Sia’s We Are Born and Motion City Soundtrack’s My Dinosaur Life. I also think Janelle Monae should be #1 on your list. Her album is fantastic and innovative. I really think she is the future of music.” “I heard Janelle Monae’s CD and I must say, pure epic,” Cwilson10 wrote. “I was hearing all kinds of stuff, I thought I was tripping for a second. To tell you the truth I didn’t know her CD was going to be that much fun. It felt like I was in a movie theater when the CD was over and Janelle was my date. I’m not lying, she puts everything into a story!!” And, of course, a few readers shared their disappointment in certain releases. “Sorry, but the new LCD Soundsystem is the biggest disappointment of the year,” Theboogieman631 wrote. “Time to get off Mr. Murphy’s n–s.” And Yoprince sounded off about several albums: “Glad to hear I’m not the only The Hold Steady fan who was a bit disappointed, which is to say a lot disappointed since they’re like my favorite American band. Damn Craig for thinking it was time to start harmonizing. I still haven’t been able to get all the way through that Gorillaz record. Janelle Monae, Yeasayer, Sleigh Bells FTW! And yes, I like the Drake record, which seems to be an unpopular opinion outside of teenagers and some very defensive blog writers. No Eminem? Fine with me. Too many tracks and Em fans won’t admit it but some of those punchlines were more miss than hit.” So what are your favorite albums of the year so far? Sound off in the comments below!
