American Idol 2010: Top 2 Finalists

This week, the contenders played the songs of their choice and also songs which were picked by the judges. The previously known top 3 composed of Lee DeWyze, Crystal Bowersox and Casey James is now cut to top 2. The three faced the final elimination before the finale of season 9. Kara DioGuardi had a hunch that Crystal and Lee will face off in the finale, while Casey will be sent home. She was right! After the Wednesday’s results, Lee was the first singer declared by Ryan to be safe and without further delays; he also said that Crystal would be with him. At the end of the elimination night, it will be Crystal or Lee who are going to remain in the finals. Both contenders must give their best to be the next American Idol. ‘Lost’ Finale Is Bound To Disappoint ‘Some Fans,’ Jorge Garcia Says

‘We’re basically just crossing our fingers that the majority will be satisfied,’ he tells MTV News. By Josh Wigler Jorge Garcia Photo: Dario Cantatore/ Getty Images For six years, “Lost” viewers have watched unlucky millionaire Hugo “Hurley” Reyes transform from lovable-but-terrified plane-crash survivor to an unlikely leader of men. The progression of Hurley’s character wasn’t just a pleasant surprise for the show’s fans; it was also a treat for Jorge Garcia, the 37-year-old actor who’s been a mainstay on the soon-to-conclude series since the very first episode. “It’s been cool,” Garcia told MTV News when asked to describe his character’s arc from the pilot episode to “The End,” the title of the final “Lost” episode, which airs Sunday. “The more subtle ways he ends up finding moments to show leadership qualities or save the day by hitting someone with a van, it worked out kind of well. It’s kind of like you don’t know when you’re starting out, but you kind of see it. If you just go through a plane crash, you might need to get your bearings a little bit. Then you start figuring it out, stretching your legs and seeing what’s what. He was always big on the advancement of the group more than anything. He didn’t want to stick out or do anything weird. He’s kind of like the cheerleader, in a way.” With the series finale looming, Garcia still hasn’t fully realized that his days on “Lost” are over. “It hasn’t really hit me yet,” he admitted. “There have been little things where it’s like, ‘Hey, that’s kind of sad.’ Reading the last script had a little thing to it. Doing this event in Los Angeles where [‘Lost’ composer Michael Giacchino] was conducting the orchestra had a little bit to it. But I haven’t really felt it. Either that or I’m being very stoic about it. I thought it was going to be a huger thing for me. Maybe when I finally get on that plane and I’m officially moved from Hawaii, it’ll hit me.” Garcia’s final day of shooting wasn’t terribly emotional, mostly because it was such a physically grueling experience. “That particular day was a very long day, and it was just exhausting in the end,” he said. “It was kind of like a lot of work. It was a physically demanding scene. At the end of it, I was like, ‘Whew, I am ready for bed, but I’ll stick around and watch them shoot the last shot of the whole series. OK, now I’m going to bed.’ ” With only two days remaining before the finale airs, Garcia said he still doesn’t know exactly how the show is going to end. “There’s one thing I still don’t know in the finale,” he said. “It’s one small piece in the finale that was only given to the actors in that scene, and I was not one of those actors.” But based on what he does know, Garcia said he and the entire “Lost” team are aware that some fans will walk away feeling disappointed. “With a show like this and fans like this, we know — and we already got a taste of it with the ‘Across the Sea’ episode — we know there are going to be some fans who are like, ‘What the eff?’ We’re basically just crossing our fingers that the majority will be satisfied with how the story goes and will be vocal about it so that we hear both sides!” If nothing else, Garcia can identify one person who’s happy with how “Lost” ends. “It was very satisfying,” he said of his experience. Bret Michaels Hopes To Make ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ Finale, Despite Hospitalization

‘We’re cautiously optimistic that he will attend the finale,’ Michaels’ rep says about Sunday’s episode. By Jocelyn Vena Bret Michaels in a photoshoot for “Celebrity Apprentice” Photo: NBC After being hospitalized on Thursday for what has been called a “warning stroke” [LINk http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1639716/20100520/bret_michaels.jhtml] just weeks after suffering a serious brain hemorrhage , Bret Michaels’ rep says that there’s still a chance that the Poison frontman may appear on the live finale of the “Celebrity Apprentice” on Sunday. “As far as I know, Bret will be there unless his doctors tell him otherwise,” his rep told People. Michaels is scheduled to appear in the final boardroom evaluation against fellow finalist Holly Robinson Peete. “We’re cautiously optimistic that he will attend the finale. But ultimately, it’s up to his doctors.” Since his hospitalization on Thursday, his rep told The Associated Press that Michaels has been moved to an outpatient care facility; no further details were released. After suffering from a brain hemorrhage last month, Michaels reportedly complaining of numbness on the left side of his body in his face and hands yesterday, doctors described the symptoms as a Transient Ischemic Attack, or warning stroke. While performing MRI and CT scans, doctors conducted ultrasound tests looking for blood clots — specifically an Ultrasound Bubble Test of his heart — which proved positive for a Patent Forum Ovale, or a hole in his heart. Both conditions are treatable and it’s believed they are not connected to the hemorrhage. Michaels’ rep, Janna Elias, added the following statement on Bret’s behalf: “Bret wants everyone to know he cannot thank you enough for all of the well-wishes, prayers and good vibes you have sent his way. Even though these last few months have been tough on him and his family, especially this most recent setback, he is in good spirits, great medical hands and is positive and hopeful that everything is going to be OK. He is up, walking, talking, continuing his daily rehab and very happy to be alive, but he has made it clear he is sick and tired of being in the hospital and is ready to rock again.” Related Photos Bret Michaels’ Career In Photos Related Artists Bret Michaels

Elizabeth Reaser Has ‘No Idea’ If Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart Are Dating

‘I’m also, like, the clueless person on set,’ ‘Twilight’ co-star says. By Jocelyn Vena Elizabeth Reaser Photo: MTV News Are they? Aren’t they? It’s the question that has been plaguing Twilighters since Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart first auditioned on Catherine Hardwicke’s bed. When they spoke to Oprah Winfrey about it earlier this month, they laughed off the chatter about their relationship. And in an interview with USA Today the actors admitted we haven’t seen them out together because they’ve been deliberately hiding. But if you’re hoping their co-star Elizabeth Reaser, who plays vampire matriarch Esme Cullen, has any insight into their dating status, it seems she is the wrong girl to ask. “Oh! I don’t know!” she laughed when asked about the rumors when she stopped by the MTV Newsroom earlier this week. “I haven’t talked to Rob or Kristen in a while, so I have no idea. Like I said, you probably know way more than I do.” Reaser said she’s not really in tune with the personal lives of the people she works with. “I never know anything,” she admitted. “I’m also, like, the clueless person on set that has no idea what’s happening. And I think I like it that way.” She even joked that if she saw the pair making out on set, she would just assume, “Oh, they must be rehearsing!” Really, the actress has more important things on her mind. “I’m always just, like, looking for the peanut M&M’s, so I don’t know what’s going on,” If you were Elizabeth Reaser, would you spill the beans about RPattz and KStew? Crystal Bowersox’s Friends Looking Forward To ‘American Idol’ Finale

‘We come from this little town, and to see her do it … is pretty awe-inspiring,’ one friend tells MTV News. By Gil Kaufman Crystal Bowersox on “American Idol” Photo: FOX During Wednesday night’s results show, Crystal Bowersox talked about how exciting it is for her to see how her run on “American Idol” has brought some hope to her struggling hometown of Toledo, Ohio. She got emotional when reliving her trip home last week and the joy she saw in the eyes of her northwest Ohio fans. On Thursday (May 20), that pride was peaking after the single mom made it to next week’s finale . “I feel incredible about her making it all the way,” said good friend Nate Woodward , who was in the audience for both shows this week in Los Angeles. “I’m not surprised, because I certainly think she has the ability, but it’s still kind of weird. We come from this little town, and to see her do it — even though we know she has the talent — is pretty awe-inspiring.” Just like Bowersox, Woodward hesitated for a second on Wednesday night when host Ryan Seacrest announced her finale bid, because he said it’s a bit hard to hear the audio from the stage in the “Idol” studio. “It was confusing,” he said of the moment when Seacrest told Crystal she’d be joining Lee DeWyze in the finale, to which she said “I’m safe? I’m safe?” “We felt the same way Crystal did, and the crowd was all asking, ‘What did he say?’ But once we figured it out, it was kind of emotional,” Woodward recalled. “I was with her boyfriend, Tony, and his two sisters, and we just all jumped up and down and clapped and got pretty emotional.” Woodward said he also got emotional when watching the footage of the hometown visit, because he knows what a huge impact her success has had on people back home and how genuine her feelings are about the trip back. “It really does give us something to feel good about right now,” he said. “People have something to smile about. But more than anything else, it comes down to the fact that she does actually have a gift and talent.” Will she win? Nate sure hopes so, and he thinks she deserves it, but he knows Lee is stiff competition and that no matter what happens Crystal — whom he used to watch play to a dozen or so people from behind the bar at the Village Idiot bar back home — has already won just by getting this far. “I wasn’t surprised that Crystal advanced yesterday, but still, I was nervous and happy when they announced that,” said John Schafer, the booker for the Village Idiot . “I believe that, clearly, she has been the best from the beginning and is the one to beat. I like Lee, he’s good, but Crystal’s voice shines.” Are you rooting for Crystal to win it all next week? Let us know in the comments! Dancing With The Stars: Elimination

After the couples performed a night of double duty on Dancing with the Stars, it is elimination night once more. Another couple has to go home and three among the four semi-finalists will be moving on to the next round. Chad Ochocinco and Cheryl Burke were eliminated after finishing in the bottom two last week and now getting low scores on Monday night’s performance. The couples who are moving on to the finale are Erin Andrews, Evan Lysacek and Nicole Scherzinger. “I enjoyed it,” the NFL player says. “I got some great criticism that’s made me stronger.” His pro dancing partner Cheryle Burke adds, “Chad is the most humble guy I’ve ever met. He made me laugh and smile all season long.”

Dancing with the Stars Elimination: Ochocinco is 86’d

Because the voting public was left with almost no choice, Chad Ochocinco earned the boot on last night’s Dancing with the Stars . Nicole and Evan earned near-perfect scores, Erin Andrews garnered a solid third place, and Chad shirtlessly swanned into oblivion with a score of 52. Now we’re left to decide if sympathy votes for Erin will vault her ahead of Evan Lysacek for the finale, though that seems unlikely. Sigh. Time to wrap up this jive, Bergeron. ‘Lost’ Star Michael Emerson Will Miss ‘Exotic Adventure’ Of The Island

The man behind Ben Linus has bittersweet emotions about this week’s finale By Adam Rosenberg, with reporting by Josh Wigler Photo: MTV News On Tuesday night’s “Lost,” Michael Emerson’s Benjamin Linus was pulled in two directions. On the Island, the always-devious former Other recovered from his recent efforts to repent, killing Charles Widmore and allying himself with the malevolent entity that fans have come to know as the Smoke Monster. Meanwhile, in the sideways timeline, a kinder, gentler Linus was introduced by favorite student Alex (Tania Raymonde) to her mother, the long-departed Danielle Rousseau (Mira Furlan). Similarly, Emerson finds himself pulled in opposite directions as the much-beloved series that he is a fundamental part of approaches its two-and-a-half-hour finale this Sunday. While there are certainly some things that he won’t miss, he told MTV News that it’s a bittersweet parting. “I guess I’ll miss the exotic adventure of the process,” Emerson said. “I don’t think I’ll ever again go to work in jungles or on cliffs or in majestic valleys where you cannot help but be in character and in the place where these events happen, because they’re overpowering.” “Lost” started, and will very likely end, on a mysterious island in the Pacific. Though the show has featured action (in the past, future and “sideways” universe) in other parts of the world, the remote island setting has always been a fundamental focus, an oddity in television programming today. “Most of the time you work on TV, it’s in courtrooms and precincts and offices and stuff like that,” Emerson said. “[‘Lost’ is] like old school, like making movies in faraway places. It had that exoticism about it.” What the soft-spoken actor won’t miss is the time away from his family. His wife, Carrie Preston, is a star on HBO’s vampire series “True Blood,” which shoots in Los Angeles, quite a distance away from the “Lost” set in Hawaii. As Emerson said, “I’m happy that I’ll never again have to figure out what to do on a Sunday night in Honolulu.” Head over to the MTV Movies Blog to vote for the “Lost” Awards from now through the finale.

Did ‘Hallelujah’ Earn Lee DeWyze A Ticket To ‘American Idol’ Finale?

The judges sure seemed to think so: ‘You just owned the entire night,’ Kara told Lee. By Kara Warner Lee DeWyze Photo: FOX At the beginning of Tuesday night’s (May 18) “American Idol,” Ryan Seacrest declared that the night’s performances were “a fight for the finale.” Well, according to the raucous applause and overwhelmingly positive reactions from the judges, Lee DeWyze won that fight. If DeWyze crushed his fellow contenders in round one, as Kara DioGuardi declared after his performance of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man,” he obliterated them in round two with his spin on the familiar “Idol” pick “Hallelujah.” Simon Cowell explained his selection for DeWyze as wanting “a moment” for the former paint-store worker . “We’ve heard this song before,” Cowell said, alluding to previous versions of the song from Jason Castro and even Tim Urban earlier this season. “We always talk about the moment. I wanted him to do something that shows he has the potential to be a great artist.” DeWyze started out his version of the now-classic Leonard Cohen song softly, slowly building (complete with string accompaniment and a small choir of backup singers) to the night’s undisputable highlight. At the end of the performance, the cameras panned to Simon, who gave a knowing nod. Randy Jackson said he’d been “waiting all season to see who’s going to throw down the real gauntlet to win the whole thing.” He gave credit to Simon’s song selection, then declared DeWyze’s performance as his “biggest moment on this show. That was unbelievable.” Ellen De Generes was glad Lee listened to Simon: “There’s really nothing more to be said. That was stunning. Just stunning.” Kara continued to pile on the praise: “Lee you are what this show is all about: somebody who starts in one place and ends up in an incredible epic moment. You just owned the entire night.” Cowell summed things up nicely: “I’m very, very proud of you. When we sat down last week, I put myself where you were. … This show has given you a break. Tonight, with that performance, you proved you are a fantastic singer and a great person. I really hope you make it to [the finale].” Next week, another Idol will be crowned. But first, one contestant will be eliminated Wednesday night. Who do you think it will be? Sound off in the comments! Sandra Diaz-Twine Wins Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains

After proving that nice guys really do finish last, Survivor capped what many consider to be its greatest season ever by crowining its first two-time champion last night. In a tense finale, Sandra Diaz-Twine defeated fellow villains Russell Hantz and Parvati Shallow to take hom the coveted crown (and million-dollar grand prize, of course). As usual, fans can now debate whether the best player actual won the game. Did Sandra truly outwit and outplay Russell, who many believe took the wrong pair to the finale with him? Or was Parvati the most deserving finalist, considering every single contestant was after her from day one? At the reunion, Sandra and Russell went verbal spat for verbal spat. The latter referred to the former as ”maybe the worst physical player to ever play the show,” while Sandra pointed to Hantz’s family and said they are “the only people that like you.” That claim was quickly shot down, though, when the fans awaraded Russell $100,000 as their favorite. The most disappointing aspect of the finale? Jeff Probst simply walked in from backstage. No helicopter, no jet ski, not even a horse-drawn carriage. What a letdown to loyal Survivor viewers! We expect Probst to raise the ridiculous, cheesy ante each year with his final-vote entrances. Still, this was an incredible season of the show. Do you think the right person won it?
