VIDEO: Stephen King Reads from His Vampires vs. Psychic Sequel to The Shining

Accepting an award last weekend at George Mason University, novelist Stephen King treated the audience to a reading of a passage from Dr. Sleep , his still-in-progress follow-up to The Shining . Remember little Danny Torrance, running from his deranged father (Jack Nicholson) in Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 film version? Well, Danny’s all grown up now, using his gift to help people die peacefully. And there are vampires, because why not?

Which Would You Rather (Not) See: New Year’s Eve or Human Centipede 2?

In the brand new trailer for New Year’s Eve , Garry Marshall’s holiday-themed movie event that promises to give the phrase “ensemble romantic comedy” a bad name, Robert De Niro wonders what could possibly beat “New York on New Year’s Eve.” I’ll tell you what: Not throwing all of your actorly credibility out the window confetti-style to appear alongside Zac Efron, Jon Bon Jovi and Ludacris in a movie that features Ashton Kutcher trapped in an elevator with the annoying girl from Glee . You know what other moviegoers might also consider better than seeing Garry Marshall’s vision of NYC on New Year’s Eve? Tom Six’s Human Centipede 2 , which inspires similar nausea but for different reasons.

Black Swan Interns Seeking Class-Action Lawsuit to Curb Exploitation of Unpaid Labor

Ever since hearing Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron promote their upcoming Snow White and the Huntsman project as dark, gritty and atypical of the Disney franchise at Comic-Con, we’ve been excited to see what the cast and director Rupert Sanders would come up with. Now, on the heels of the promising concept artwork , some set photos have surfaced showing Stewart as a horse-riding, cigarette-smoking, armor-wearing princess unlike any other.

In addition to his planned appearance at the cast reunion of The Big Lebowski in New York on Tuesday night as part of Lebowski Fest (check back to Movieline for coverage of the event), the Oscar-winner released his self-titled country album on Tuesday . See Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson on Day One of Shooting for G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation

It’s hard to believe that G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation has become a legitimate summer tentpole from the time of its announcement to its first day of shooting, but that’s sorta what happened. Lots of that has to do with J.J. Abrams’s inability to get the ball rolling on Star Trek 2 in time for Paramount’s planned June 29, 2012 release date — resulting in Joe landing there — but with a cast featuring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson , Channing Tatum, Adrianne Palicki and possibly Bruce Willis , it has become hard to ignore G.I. Joe 2 ‘s potential for box office breakout next summer. Step one on that road is filming, which direct Jon M. Chu has commenced, and Johnson has commemorated on Twitter. Click through for a look.

This just in from The Weinstein Company: Sarah Jessica Parker, Brendan Fraser, Jessica Alba, James Gandolfini and Rob Corddry are among the voice talent joining the studio’s 3-D animated family flick Escape From Planet Earth . Says co-writer/director Cal Brunker: ” Escape From Planet Earth has got it all… explosions, romance and a cast of hilarious aliens….what more could you ask for?” Oh, I dunno. A flow chart ?
