‘Breaking Dawn’ Wedding Day Was ‘Wet And Cold,’ Peter Facinelli Says

‘I haven’t really had that moment of remorse or blues,’ he tells MTV News of still shooting final film. By Kara Warner Peter Facinelli Photo: Frazer Harrison/ Getty Images Earlier this week, MTV News learned of an exciting “Twilight” and “American Idol” mash-up between Peter Facinelli and “Idol” castoff Paul McDonald on the “Loosies” soundtrack. Naturally, we couldn’t let Facinelli hang up the phone until we addressed another important subject matter: “Breaking Dawn.” Unlike co-star Robert Pattinson , Facinelli has yet to wrap his work on the “Twilight” saga. “I still have another two weeks of second-unit stunt work, so for me, it doesn’t feel quite done yet,” he said. “I haven’t really had that moment of remorse or blues, you know, the blues of finishing. I’m in the midst of still finishing myself.” Regarding a few key scenes that his co-stars have mentioned — specifically the Taylor Lautner vs. Kristen Stewart fight scene — Facinelli agreed that seeing the much smaller Stewart take on Lautner was entertaining. “Oh yes, I was there for that,” he said. “[It was] very funny. … But you have to kick his butt a little bit,” Facinelli added about the idea of Lautner’s character Jacob imprinting on Bella and Edward’s daughter Renesmee . Although he couldn’t go into too much detail, we asked Facinelli to describe the heavily hyped wedding scene for us. “Beautiful and spectacular,” he said. “It’s funny, because whenever we have a big important scene on ‘Twilight’ [movies], it rains. I was doing the baseball sequence [from ‘Twilight’], and it was raining. But you never see it on film,” he said of the filmmaking crew’s movie magic. “With this wedding, it rained the whole time we shot the two scenes. But you’ll never see it on film, they block out the rain. They put tarps up and you’ll never see it. But for us, it was very wet and muddy and cold.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Scarlett Johansson, Russell Brand Will Present Oscars

Sandra Bullock, Jeff Bridges and Oprah Winfrey also will hand out Academy Awards on Sunday. By Aly Semigran Scarlett Johansson Photo: Frazer Harrison/Getty Images With the countdown to the 83rd annual Academy Awards in its final phase (there’s just five days left until the big night), there’s still news coming out about the ceremony: It was announced Tuesday morning (February 22) that actress Scarlett Johansson and funny man Russell Brand will attend the 2011 Oscars as presenters. Johansson, who appeared in last year’s hit “Iron Man 2” and is currently filming Cameron Crowe’s upcoming “We Bought a Zoo,” has recently been the focus of the media attention due to her divorce from actor Ryan Reynolds. Meanwhile, Brand, who wed singer Katy Perry last year and stars in the upcoming “Arthur” reboot with Helen Mirren, tried out his own style of edgy comedy during his hosting stint on the MTV Video Music Awards in 2009 and just this month on “Saturday Night Live.” This will mark the first Oscar appearance for the “Get Him to the Greek” star, who joked on his Twitter page Tuesday, “I am presenting an Oscar. I shall also choose the recipient. At last my work as Aldous Snow will be honoured, for best actor-ing.” Brand and Johansson will join fellow A-list presenters Sandra Bullock (last year’s Best Actress recipient will hand out this year’s Best Actor trophy), Jeff Bridges (2010 Best Actor winner to hand out the Best Actress award), Oprah Winfrey, Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Robert Downey Jr., Hugh Jackman, Reese Witherspoon, Cate Blanchett and Marisa Tomei, as well as two of this year’s Best Actress nominees, Nicole Kidman and Annette Bening. The Academy Awards, which will be co-hosted by James Franco and Anne Hathaway, will air live from the Kodiak Theater in Hollywood at 8 p.m. ET Sunday on ABC. ‘Breaking Dawn’ Star Peter Facinelli Says Shooting Final Scene Was ‘Sad’

‘It got a little melancholy,’ the actor said of the recently filmed last scene of ‘The Twilight Saga’ finale. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Peter Facinelli Photo: Frazer Harrison/ Getty Images Production on the two parts of “Breaking Dawn” is expected to stretch well into April, with the cast eventually departing Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to finish up shooting on the final “Twilight Saga” films in Vancouver, Canada. But whereas the makers of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” chose to save that franchise’s final scene until the very end of production, the “Breaking Dawn” cast has already shot the last scene of their finale film — and it apparently was a pretty gloomy experience. “The other day when we shot that ending sequence, we knew that was the ending of the last two movies and it got a little melancholy,” Peter Facinelli, who plays Dr. Carlisle Cullen, told us on the red carpet at the Golden Globes on Sunday. “It was sad.” While the 37-year-old actor wouldn’t delve into detail about the scene — “Lots of vampires,” he teased — Robert Pattinson , also walking the Globes carpet, dished about the lengthy climax toward the end of “Breaking Dawn, Part 2.” “There’s like a 27-minute sequence in the final sequence, and it takes forever to shoot,” he revealed. “There’s about 75 people in it. Being on a piece of fake snow surrounded by green screen for like a month, it’s driving me absolutely insane.” Facinelli, too, admitted that filming the final fight has meant the cast must suffer through a “brutal” production schedule, but he credited director Bill Condon with creating a calm, creative working environment. “Bill Condon’s fantastic,” he said. “He’s such a great actors’ director. He’s really collaborative. He’s a joy to work with. He’s very relaxed all the time. You never see him sweat.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .

Lea Michele ‘Excited’ For Gwyneth Paltrow’s ‘Glee’ Return

Starlet also reveals to MTV News on Golden Globes red carpet that ‘the boys’ will belt the Bieber tunes on upcoming episode. By Mawuse Ziegbe Lea Michele Photo: Frazer Harrison/ Getty Images Gwyneth Paltrow’s “Glee” guest spot was so memorable that the Oscar-winning “Country Strong” star will be heading back to the show for a second go-around. This time, she and “Glee” faculty heartthrob Matthew Morrison will be heating things up with a romantic story line. Aside from the dating arc with Mr. Schuester, details about how Paltrow will once again shake things up as sassy substitute Holly Holliday remain scant — even “Glee” star Lea Michele is in the dark about her possible scenes with the superstar actress. When MTV News caught up with the singer/actress on the Golden Globes red carpet on Sunday (January 16), she admitted that she didn’t know much about Paltrow’s return but maintained, “I’m excited. Anything with Gwyneth is great.” In addition to Paltrow, superstar Justin Bieber is set to be incorporated into the hit show soon, as the show is slated to take on some of the pop star’s peppy catalog. But when it comes to the Biebs, Michele divulged that she won’t be belting any of the teen idol’s tunes, and said everything will be left up to the “Glee” guys. “I’m not [singing Justin Bieber], but the boys are,” Michele dished. While Michele was short on “Glee” details, show co-creator Ryan Murphy recently revealed how Bieber would fit into in the hit series, batting away rumors that an all-Bieber episode was in the works. “Those [tributes] are reserved for artists with big catalogs,” Murphy explained of why they won’t dedicate an entire episode to the teen sensation’s smashes. “Bieber comes up in episode 13 as a small plot point. Sam [Chord Overstreet] sings a JB song to win Quinn’s [Dianna Agron] approval. Are you excited to catch Justin Bieber’s music and Gwyneth Paltrow’s return on “Glee”? Let us know in the comments! Zac Efron Talks About Bulking Up For ‘The Lucky One’

‘I really wanted to put in the work,’ he tells MTV News on the Golden Globes red carpet. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Zac Efron Photo: Frazer Harrison/ Getty Images We’re sure fans of Zac Efron won’t mind seeing him all muscled up for his next film, “The Lucky One,” based on the Nicholas Sparks book of the same name. Not only did Efron get buffed up for the role , but he also shaved off his signature locks to play a marine who, after three tours in Iraq, returns home to North Carolina to look for the unknown woman he believes was his good-luck charm while he was fighting in the war abroad. “It was hard, man,” Efron recalled about his training for the film when he spoke to MTV News on the Golden Globes red carpet Sunday night (January 16). “I knew that the second I went to Camp Pendleton and met these real marines, I didn’t have that presence.” So what kind of presence did Efron have to achieve in order to play Logan Thibault in the Scott Hicks-directed film, set for 2012 release? “They’ve got this way about them, but they’re, like, 50 pounds heavier, so I started training immediately to do the best I could,” he explained. ” ‘Cause it’s a kind of sensitive part. I care too much about it to let it slide. I really wanted to put in the work.” The film follows in the more serious direction Efron has been taking in his roles as of late. Last year, he starred in “Charlie St. Cloud,” but he will return to the world of romantic comedies when he stars in the ensemble rom-com “New Year’s Eve” in December. ‘Breaking Dawn’ Star Peter Facinelli Raves About Kristen Stewart As A Vampire

‘For some reason, once they put those contact lenses in, you look very statuesque,’ actor says on the Golden Globes red carpet. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Peter Facinelli Photo: Frazer Harrison/ Getty Images We’ve had a preview of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart getting sexy as Edward and Bella on their honeymoon in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” and now Cullen patriarch Peter Facinelli has some more secrets from the movie’s set. When MTV News caught up with Facinelli on the Golden Globes red carpet on Sunday (January 16), he revealed what Stewart’s Bella is like as a vampire. “She’s doing really well. She looks fantastic,” he raved about Stewart’s transition to a vampire for the final films in the series. “For some reason, once they put those contact lenses in, you look very statuesque.” Facinelli wouldn’t go into detail about shooting the last two films in the franchise with director Bill Condon and the rest of the “Breaking Dawn” crew, but he did admit that things have been very action-packed. “We’ve been shooting the last two weeks with a lot of vampires,” he said. “I don’t want to give away too much, but if you’ve read the books, it’s the standoff with lots of vampires in play. There’s like 70 people going through the works at once. It’s a little maddening, but fun. “We shot pretty much the ending of the two movies the other day,” he added about how much time the cast has left on-set. “But we shoot until mid-April.” MTV News recently spoke to Facinelli’s co-star Ashley Greene about that fight sequence against the Volturi, and she expressed her excitement about it as well. “As a cast, we like to do as many of our own stunts as possible, so it’s fun and challenging to shoot those scenes,” she said. “Jeff Imada, the stunt coordinator, is such a blast to work with as well. I’m learning so much from him.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” We’ve got the Golden Globes covered! Dave Franco Talks ‘Fright Night,’ Working With Big Bro James Franco

As one of MTV News’ 11 for ’11, up-and-comer also plans to shop around a Web series about college life. By Kara Warner Dave Franco Photo: Frazer Harrison/ Getty Images If you are not already familiar with the name Dave Franco, chances are you will be soon. You might recognize the enterprising 25-year-old from his work on “Greek,” “Privileged” and “Scrubs.” He’s also appeared in several videos on FunnyOrDie.com, including a series called “Acting With James Franco” (James Franco is Dave’s brother). But these are all things from the past. Looking ahead to what’s in store for Franco in 2011, we’ll see him on screens big and small, in front of and behind the camera. When MTV News caught up with the up-and-comer recently, one of our 11 for ’11, we chatted about “Fright Night,” a TV series he’d like to get off the ground and whether we’ll see him at the Oscars in a skit alongside his big bro . MTV : We’ve talked about “Fright Night” before, and even though you’re sworn to secrecy about plot details, have you seen any of the film yet? Dave Franco : I have not seen anything, but I’ve only heard good things so far. I may have mentioned this before, but despite being a vampire movie, it’s very grounded and realistic. If I had to compare it to another vampire movie, I would say “Let the Right One In,” where everything is treated with realism but the only difference is that “Fright Night” happens to be hilarious too, mainly due to really funny actors like David Tennant and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and Colin Farrell is hilarious also. MTV : You’ve also mentioned that you’ve been working on your own material. What can you tell us about that? Franco : This past semester, I was working more behind the camera, and I directed, produced and wrote this Web series about college life. The basic idea stems from a conversation I had with my friend about how there are really only a handful of projects at most, whether it be film or TV, that really capture what college is like. For the most part, it’s all sensationalized and over-the-top. We decided we wanted to give a very HBO-type look at what really happens in college. We figured, ‘It’s crazy enough as it is; let’s just show what’s really going on.’ So we followed a handful of kids at USC throughout the semester, and the whole tone is a little strange, because it’s part documentary, part reality, part scripted. It’s kind of a weird mesh of everything, but it came out really cool. I hope people respond well to it. I’m happy, because we were able to capture what we set out for. … I went to USC, and watching this footage, I can attest that this is really what it’s like. This is what happens on a typical night. MTV : Sounds intriguing. Where do you want it to end up? Franco : We still need to figure that out. It’s all edited and everything is ready to go. We just have to figure out how we want to present it and where. We’ve always wanted to get this on TV, ideally an HBO, Showtime or FX. We’re almost using this Web series as a pitching tool that will hopefully generate some interest, and then we can go from there. MTV : What else are you working on? Franco : We’re filming a couple of Funny or Die videos later this month. There’s also a feature film that I’m writing for my brother and I to star in, where we play versions of ourselves named Davie and James. Without giving away too much, it all takes place around Thanksgiving and Christmas break around our hometown of Palo Alto [California]. Our real family will be in it, my real friends from home will be in it, and the vibe of it is going to be an extended version of our Funny or Die videos. It’s going to be difficult for me, because it’s now a 90-minute version of him giving me sh– and making fun of me. MTV : Don’t let him do that! Franco : [ Laughs. ] I’ll give it back, trust me, but it takes its toll. It wears on you. MTV : Any chance we’ll see you in something for the Oscars, since you have a pretty good connection to the host? Franco : There’s been talks of us doing a digital short for that. We’ll see, though. Potentially another installment in the “Acting With James Franco.” We’ll see. Check out MTV News’ 11 for ’11 — actors, musicians and TV stars who are about to have a huge year — all week long. Emmys Fashion: Kim Kardashian, Lea Michele Go Old-School Glam

Anna Paquin, January Jones and more take fashion risks that pay off at the awards show. By Jocelyn Vena Kim Kardashian arrives at the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards Photo: Frazer Harrison/ Getty Images In a sea of blush, beads and black, there was an overarching theme on the Emmy Awards red carpet Sunday night (August 29): old-school glam. With the men evoking such Hollywood icons as Cary Grant and Clark Gable, the women hit the carpet in gowns that harked back to the golden era of the silver screen, thanks to retro silhouettes and an emphasis on glamour. Kim Kardashian paid homage to Elizabeth Taylor in a white Marchesa dress with a halter neckline and cape detailing and a big cuff by Lorraine Schwartz. “Glee” star Amber Riley took that same route, however, co-star Dianna Agron may have gone a bit too retro in a lilac-and-black-lace tiered dress that screamed “Gone With the Wind.” Lea Michele hit the mark in Oscar de la Renta, even if the fit was a bit off. Her strapless navy ruched gown certainly made a statement with its crazy skirt and a diamond choker by Lorraine Schwartz. Keeping it with the Gleeks, the guys went standard-issue red carpet, thanks to tailored dark suits, but Kevin McHale made the look all his own with his thick-framed glasses and gold bow tie. Then, there were the actors who vamped up the carpet. “True Blood” stars Rutina Wesley and Carrie Preston went bold in their printed gowns, but none as bold as Anna Paquin, who was gladiator chic in her Alexander McQueen gown with black and gold sequins. She also had the ultimate accessory, co-star and hubby Stephen Moyer, who kept it stylish in a suit and tie. “Vampire Diaries” star Nina Dobrev dazzled in a champagne ruched, one-shoulder gown with sparse beading that sparkled in just the right places. The cast of “Mad Men” also made bold statements on the carpet. The
