‘X Factor’ Singers Talk Rachel Crow’s ‘Brutal’ Elimination

‘It felt like ‘Gladiator’ up there,’ Josh Krajcik says of 13-year-old’s exit. By Gil Kaufman, with reporting by Jim Cantiello Rachel Crow after hearing the news of her elimination on “X Factor” Photo: FOX It may have been one of the most heart-wrenching scenes in recent reality-TV memory. And while the sight of 13-year-old Rachel Crow collapsing into sobs and calling for her mommy made for great TV, it’s also likely the reason “X Factor” is alone among major American singing competitions in allowing such young contestants. When MTV News’ Jim Cantiello caught up with the remaining semifinalists on Monday, he asked Chris Rene, Josh Krajcik, Marcus Canty and Melanie Amaro what they said to Crow on elimination night and how they’re handling the aftermath of her ouster. “I was just telling her that she really cannot give up, because she’s an amazing singer,” said soul-diva-in-the-making Amaro, who was one of the first to embrace Crow onstage and console the tweenager. “She’s only 13, and she can sing like that? She has a big career ahead of her. She really has to continue to work hard and do what she loves.” Cantiello also unraveled the mystery of what Crow was saying to Amaro after their embrace, when the pint-size belter gestured emphatically to the only remaining female in the competition. “She said to me, ‘You’ve gotta represent! You’ve gotta represent for the girls!’ ” Amaro said. “I was like, ‘OK, I will represent for the girls.’ ” Rough-edged hip-pop singer Rene said the vibe backstage after the elimination was so uncomfortable that he just wanted to leave. “It felt like your little sister … you see your little sister cry like that, it doesn’t make you happy,” he said. “You wish you could do something about it, and you can’t.” The scene was especially tense for Michael Bolton-esque crooner and sudden front-runner Krajcik, whose mentor, Nicole Scherzinger, took the brunt of the audience’s anger when she voted against Crow and sent the contest to deadlock. Ever since that fateful, tear-stained decision — which clearly had an emotional effect on the former Pussycat Doll as well — Scherzinger has come in for some harsh criticism that Krajcik said she didn’t deserve. “[It was] brutal,” said Krajcik, who did not deny that he felt like he wanted to take a swing at every boo bird in the house when they turned on Scherzinger. “You get emotional; it was tough. It felt like ‘Gladiator’ up there. I thought that I was in the middle of a blood-soaked sand arena. It was really, really weird. It’s something I will never forget. … I was surprised by a lot of things that night.” For his part, R&B smoothie Canty, who was standing beside Crow when she got the bad news, was still a bit miffed with host Steve Jones for setting a pick on him. “I said, ‘Can I talk to her?’ Obviously I didn’t want to see her on the ground,” Canty said. “Let her know everything was going to be all right.” What was your reaction to Rachel Crow’s elimination? Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry And Justin Bieber Among The …

Justin Bieber only had to perform 35 gigs (27 of which sold out) to take the 15 spot with $44 million (which should help fund his affinity for expensive dates like renting out the Staples Center). There were still a few surprises … See the article here: Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry And Justin Bieber Among The …

My name is Aisha, I’m from Virginia! Sunday December 11th…

My name is Aisha, I’m from Virginia! Sunday December 11th was a crazy day. Two of my friends, my sister and I planned a buyout in Washington DC without knowing that Justin Bieber would be in DC that same day. Justin announced about a week later that he was coming to Christmas in Washington the SAME day as the buyout, which was about 5 minutes away from the Barnes and noble we held the buyout. The buyout was insane! We had about 90-100 girls show up, we collected about 5-6 boxes of canned goods to donate to the local food bank. We also got about 50 donations of Under The Mistletoe CD’s for the Children’s Hospital. After about an hour my friend ran into Scooter on her way to the buyout, and he said he was on his way there! It was pretty unreal that Scooter came to the buyout, we didn’t expect it all. He took pictures with EVERYONE, then left. He thanked me and friends for everything we did and was being so sweet! After the buyout, we really wanted to meet Justin so we headed to his hotel, but then realized he left. We tried to beat him to the museum but ended up missing him by 5 minutes. Hours past and everyone left the city, it was only my twin sister and I left with 2 other girls we met. We decided to wait until the event was over. It was like -10 degrees. My body was slowly dieing. Since the President was inside, the blocked off every single road surrounding the building, so we had to wait across the street. After about an hour and a half, the President finally left, so we went inside the parking lot, and prayed that Justin was coming out that way. I spotted Legaci, my sister and I took pictures with them. Then we saw Scrappy! We also took pictures with him. We met The Band Perry, Cee lo Green, Conan O’Brien, and Jennifer Hudson. Finally after waiting for like 30 more minutes Justin comes out with his whole crew . There was only about 8 people there at the most. We were just patiently waiting there then Scooter came over and saw my sister and I (he remembered us cause we were the leaders of the buyout.) He called Justin over and told him that we organized the buyout and Justin had the biggest smile on his face, he was like “Thank you so much, that means the world to me.” I was really calm, and I was like no problem! He was like “Let’s get a picture!” While we were about to take the picture he pointed to his suit, and was like “Do I look like double o’ seven” I laughed and was like yeaah, you look cute! He was like thanks! We took the picture and then this paparazzi guy was trying to get Justin’s attention and he was like, “WAIT, I need to get pictures with my fans first” He took pictures with all the girls, and signed autographs. He was honestly SO sweet, he has such an amazing heart! -@virginiabeliebs  More here: My name is Aisha, I’m from Virginia! Sunday December 11th…

On August 25, 2010 I got to meet my idol. It was a really nice…

On August 25, 2010 I got to meet my idol. It was a really nice day and I had tickets to go see Justin with my best friend Julia. We were so excited and we thought we were going to meet him because my mom’s friend knows his lighting manager but we weren’t sure. When we got to the Times Union Center we met him with the manager and he told us that he doesn’t know if he could get us in. We all had to pay $50 to get the tickets and meet & greet in order for him to  guaranty  us in. Well from our seats that were really bad, we ended up having 6th row, and got to meet Justin! When we were waiting in line to meet him, we were talking to a bunch of other girls that got to meet him! It was really nice to talk to all of these different Beliebers. My friend and I were about 7th in line and when Kenny opened the certain for us to walk in, we almost passed out. We saw Justin and he asked us how we were doing. We were chewing gum at the time and I guess that when we answered him, he smelt our breathe because he then asked us if we had any gum. I did not have a piece because I had given it to Julia (my friend) right before we met him and I felt so bad but I said no. Justin put his head down then told us to smile for the camera! He put his arms around both of us and said SMILE! It was an opportunity I will NEVER, forget. When we left the certain, me and my friend were freaking out. Everyone that was waiting in line at the venue saw us freaking out and realized that we had just met JUSTIN BIEBER. All me and Julia did was smell our shoulders cause they smelt just like Justin. Thank you Justin for an amazing night, and even though you weren’t feeling the greatest, you still did an amazing job. You taught me to follow my dreams and to never say never. I hope to see you again next year. The rest is here: On August 25, 2010 I got to meet my idol. It was a really nice…

David Guetta Is MTV’s #2 EDM Artist Of 2011!

Between radio hits, headlining gigs and even his own documentary, the French DJ/producer is a dance-music heavyweight. By Akshay Bhansali David Guetta Photo: Getty Images If he built a bridge between urban music and electronic music last year, in 2011, French DJ/producer David Guetta now presides over a superhighway that extends around the world. In our Best Electronic Dance Music Artists of 2011 coverage, MTV’s roundtable has named Guetta our #2 EDM Artist of 2011 — but that doesn’t begin to explain his impact on the industry. David Guetta is now a pop-music superstar. After collecting a Grammy in February for his remix of Madonna’s “Revolver,” Guetta teased his next opus, Nothing but the Beat, during Miami Music Week in March. His highly anticipated follow-up to last year’s One Love would deliver a feature list on steroids, including Ludacris and Taio Cruz teaming up for first single “Little Bad Girl.” Radio hits came in the form of Nicki Minaj and Flo Rida rapping on “Where Them Girls At” and then the album’s latest single, “Without You,” an emotional track with Usher that David calls “the biggest song” on NBTB. Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Jennifer Hudson, Sia and Timbaland also all lent their vocals to the double disc. For EDM purists, Nothing but the Beat had plenty to offer, like stellar co-productions with Afrojack (“Lunar” and “The Future”) and Avicii (on the Grammy-nominated “Sunshine”). DJ Mag crowned Guetta the #1 DJ on the planet, and he headlined the world’s biggest festival’s, including Belgium’s Tomorrowland Festival, Miami’s Ultra Music Festival and Las Vegas’ Electric Daisy Carnival. Guetta has also hit screens small and large this year. His documentary with Burn, also titled “Nothing but the Beat,” has been screened in New York and L.A. He’s hit “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” with Usher, and filmed a viral video with Web sensation Keenan Cahill . His American Music Awards performance with Nicki Minaj seems to indicate that “Turn Me On” will be the next single from Nothing but the Beat, and fans can expect a shocking new video (and much more, we’re sure) early next year. MTV will reveal the best artists, songs and movies of the year. Come to MTV News each day to see more big reveals and check out more of MTV’s Best of 2011 music, TV, movies and news coverage. 13th November 2011= THE best day of my friggan life! Basically…

13th November 2011=  THE best day of my friggan life!  Basically I’ve been trying to meet Justin for 2 and a half years. The chance came and I entered a competition to win tickets for his ITV special, but with my TERRIBLE, NON-EXISTANT luck, that  didn’t  happen. That day I had a huge dilemma because we knew what hotel he was SUPPOSEDLY at then we for sure where knew he would be at the ITV Studios & Fountain Studios.  We were on the train and my friend picked out of my hands on which option to choose and we chose the hotel. We got there and it was freezing. There was NOONE else there so I was like oh this is probably the wrong place, but we kinda hung around. We went Starbucks for an hour, Pizza Hut for an hour, in the hotel for an hour etc, and the hotel was fine with us at first and then all of a sudden they came to kick us out (which was the best sign of the whole day because they only kick you out if someone important is going there) . We went outside and there was a few more people, around 15 people and we were just chatting to them. One of the girls somehow knew the manager and the main hotel security guard who came to speak to us and said, “Yeah Justin will  definitely  be coming back, he’s booked in for another 2 days and this morning he was late for his appointment, but instead of getting straight into his car, he walked out the hotel, went through EVERY single fan outside, took pictures and THEN got into his car to go off. He’s one of the ‘nice ones’ cause most celebs we have here just get straight in the car and go, but he didn’t”.  He then said, “We’re expecting him in about 15-20 mins”. This was weird because the ITV special wasn’t supposed to finish recording in about an HOUR later, not 20 mins, so we were like hmmm, but waited. Then as he said, 20 minutes later, Justin’s car came in!! Justin got out, casually strolled over to us and said, “Hey how you doing? Before I get in trouble and get one of you run over, can you just stand away from the road to the side, just in a line please. I don’t wanna get in trouble or get any of you hurt thanks, everyone will get a go!”  He then started taking pictures and signing autographs for EVERYONE! This one girl’s picture was blurry and he was like “Oh one second I’ll do that again, that’s blurry”, which to be honest should be the LEAST of his worries! I gave him my camera, he was holding it for AGES, and was like, “Oh it’s on record I’ll take you again in a sec”. At that moment I like nearly FAINTED! I got a normal picture after. The whole time, he was like, “Has EVERYONE got a picture?, is everyone SURE they’ve got everything? A pic and a signature? Who hasn’t got a picture?” and he even did some extra, funny pictures with people. At the end, Kenny was like, “Justin you have to go!” and Justin was like “One second, gimme 2 cameras”. He grabbed a random girls phone and another girl’s camera and was like, “Right, everyone in for a group photo”. Kenny took them and Justin was like, “Another one please, I didn’t like myself in that! And the rest of you guys can like get that picture from eachothers Facebook? Okay I have to go, bye thank you!!” During the group photo, he DREW on my face! Yep, Justin DREW Bieber, DREW on my face!! I was like DEAD! I knew he’s really nice, but some things were TOO nice! After that, I was like kinda crying hysterically for about 4 hours, on a bus, 2 tubes and a train. Everyone was looking at my friend thinking she’d hurt me or something. It was unforgettable , after over 2 and a half years trying to meet him and always failing every attempt, I finally did. NEVER SAY NEVER, you will get a chance, whoever you are, wherever you are. Dream big! – @poli_jdb_96 View original post here: 13th November 2011= THE best day of my friggan life! Basically…

Jessica Wright Is My Kind Of Woman

I’m going to assume that this Jessica Wright chick is one of the girls from the British show The Only Way To Essex , that thing seems to be filled with this kind of chick, I might have to figure out a way to watch a few episodes. Whoever she is, she’s got a few qualities I look for in a woman, a nice fake tan, perfect big breasts and some nice fake hair. My kind of girl. I would have also accepted daddy issues and alcohol addiction. Call me.

REVIEW: Jonah Hill, The Sitter Offer (Mostly) Inoffensive, Forgettable Fun

Having begun his career as American independent film’s great hope with delicate, languid features like George Washington and All the Real Girls , David Gordon Green has devoted the last few years to turning out goofball stoner comedies that, aside from their hip and very current casts, could seem like forgotten oddball ’80s artifacts discovered in a box of dusty VHS tapes at a garage sale. While it’s not a career trajectory anyone who went googly-eyed over his early output would have guessed for him, there’s an unmistakable undercurrent of glee to these recent films that suggests Green — who still works with many of the crew members with which he started, including composer David Wingo and DP Tim Orr — is having a great time making exactly the type of movies he wants to.
