Jadakiss, DJ Drama, Green Lantern Talk Mayweather/ Mosley-Themed Mixtape

Trio also predict who will win Saturday’s big fight: Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather or ‘Sugar’ Shane Mosley. By Shaheem Reid DJ Drama, Jadakiss and DJ Green Lantern Photo: MTV News NEW YORK — One of hip-hop’s lyrical heavyweights is placing his bets on the motormouthed boxing champ. Jadakiss predicts that Floyd “Money” Mayweather is going to beat “Sugar” Shane Mosley in their much anticipated boxing match Saturday night in Las Vegas. To commemorate the big night, Jada his release the third installment of his heralded Champ Is Here mixtape series with Green Lantern and another underground great, DJ Drama. The trio are calling Champ Is Here, Part 3 a “Gangsta Grillz Invasion” because it is a joint venture between Drama’s “Gangsta Grillz” and Lantern’s “Invasion” tapes. Mixtape Daily caught up with the three this week at the Church Street Boxing Gym in lower Manhattan. Along with talking about the mixtape, the trio predicted who’s going to win on Saturday. “I’m ‘Money May’ to the death,” Jada said, sitting on a stool in the boxing ring. “I’m rocking with gun rule, man: ‘Money’ Mayweather in 12,” Drama added. Lantern wasn’t so sure. “Listen, I’m leaning toward Mayweather, but I gotta leave that open — for the surprise. Did you see when [Mosley wouldn’t let go of Mayweather’s] hands [at the press conference]? He couldn’t let go. Something’s going on. As a corner man, I gotta leave something open for surprise. So I’m not putting money out on this, at all.” “I say shout to Shane’s coach though,” Drama said, referring to Naazim Richardson. “He go hard,” ‘Kiss agreed. “[Shane’s] whole staff is hard, they’re humble. I respect what they’re doing. I just think Floyd is going to win. Everybody looks at Floyd [because of] how much trash-talking he does, but he’s a hard worker. He don’t drink, he don’t party. He works out. He has fun working out and trash-talking. He never lost. I gotta ride out with him. He’s a friend of mine. I believe in him.” Well, in preparation for the fight, Champ Is Here, Part 3 will hit the Internet Saturday — but you can get a preview of the music right here on MTV News later today! Conference: Rethinking Everything

How would you live if you could rethink virtually everything? That’s the top question on the minds of the socially conscious explorers attending Rethinking Everything , an international conference taking place this September in Dallas, Texas. What began 14 years ago as a local conference for unschooling families has evolved into a meetup of like-minded people sharing fresh and empowered ways of parenting, self-design and sustainability . Founded and produced by Barb Lundgren, an entrepreneurial unschooling parent with decades of experience questioning everything, this conference literally bubbles over with activity for children and adults alike. “Expect nurturing support for the creation of respectful, exuberant, freedom- and responsibility-filled lifestyles for everyone in your family,” she writes. “The five conference days are overflowing with multiple options at all times, from early morning to late night.

Viable renewable energy storage via giant gravel batteries

Energy sources like the sun and wind have the capacity to provide endless amounts of clean energy if we could only figure a way to properly store them when the sun isn’t shining and the wind isn’t blowing. A team of engineers from Cambridge University think they might have a solution: a giant battery that can store energy using gravel. Elevating the idiom “you’ve got rocks in your head” to a whole new level, these scientists hope to solve the sustainable issue plaguing renewables . About his battery Jonathan Howe, founder of Isentropic states that: “If you bolt this to a wind farm, you could store the intermittent and relatively erratic energy and give it back in a reliable and controlled manner.” Howe in order to prove his theories is designing and constructing a small pilot plant that could store 16MWh at full capacity, this could be enough energy to serve the electrical needs of thousands of homes. WorldChanging , in an article, describes how two properly outfitted silos of gravel 7 meters tall and 7 meters in diameter would be all that is needed for storage and retrieval of the renewable energy. Surplus renewable energy storage is a looming issue requiring a sustainably elegant solution, Isentropic’s battery may just prove to be one. Green Day Contest Winners Rave About Surprise Show

Winners of MTV’s ‘American Idiot’ contest got big surprise at end of musical. By James Montgomery, with reporting by Nick Neofitidis Green Day perform on stage at “American Idiot” on Broadway on Thursday. Photo: MTV News On Thursday night, winners of MTV’s “American Idiot” contest were not only treated to a great show — but a surprise mini concert by Green Day , with the band playing “American Idiot” and “Basket Case,” too. So, all in all, it was a pretty great night. “I think I had heart failure! It was the most amazing experience,” contest winner Fallyn Ruzzi told MTV News following the show. “I mean, the play was great, and then Green Day played songs, too!” Ruzzi was just one of the 300 lucky winners, who flocked to New York’s St. James Theater hours before the performance was even scheduled to begin, waited in line to pick up their tickets to the musical, and then got to witness a post-show performance by Green Day, who took the stage and blasted through “American Idiot” and “Basket Case.” It took most of the audience completely by surprise. “We had heard Green Day weren’t even going to be here,” Ruzzi said. “It was amazing when they came out!” But what did Ruzzi — and other winners — think of the show itself? Well, as might expect, they were blown away by the production. But, like most hard-core Green Day fans, when they first heard the band was taking “Idiot” to Broadway, she had her doubts. “I didn’t like the idea of Green Day coming to Broadway at first — I thought it was a bad idea,” Ruzzi said. “But then I heard the songs from the Berkeley Rep [performances] and I just fell in love with it.” Echoing those sentiments were Ruzzi’s friend — and fellow Green Day enthusiast — Toni Ann Graffigna, who was also skeptical of the album coming to the Great White Way, but, after seeing the show, she’s now firmly a believer. “I wasn’t that crazy about the idea at first, but it’s Green Day, you gotta give it a chance,” she said. “The whole show touched my heart. I would see it every day, if I could. I almost cried … I’d recommend everyone to see it, even if you don’t like Green Day, just come out and see it.” Related Videos Green Day’s ‘American Idiot’ On Broadway Related Artists Green Day

Miranda Kerr Raises More Than Just Cash

Here’s Victoria’s Secret stunner Miranda Kerr at Christie’s Green Auction: A Bid To Save The Earth last night. This was pretty clever of the organizer, get a few hotties like Miranda and Doutzen Kroes to help raise some cash, everyone knows the best way to a man’s wallet is through his pants. Ugh, obviously it’s through his pants, that’s most likely to be where he keeps his wallet, but you know what I was getting at. These retarded posts are even getting me confused now. She has boner inducing hotness… There! more pictures of Miranda Kerr here

How sweet the taste of chocolate lip balms

Three things to know about chocolate: Buying organic or fair trade chocolate ensures you are not contributing to child slavery and unfair labor practices . Mainstream chocolate makers haven’t quite caught up with fair trade sourcing yet (although some progress is being made ). You can savor the taste and smell of organic chocolate all day long with Eco Lips’ new line of Dagoba organic chocolate lip balms. I’m not big on flavored lip products, but as an advocate for fair trade and organic chocolate, I felt compelled to report on this important new development (ahem) in the world of chocolate lip balms. Eco Lips , a company known for its certified organic lip balms, has collaborated with Dagoba Organic Chocolate to create three lip balms that soothe your lips with organic ingredients while soothing your senses with the taste and smell of chocolate. Organic cocoa in your lip balm? If that sounds a little odd to you, you’re not alone. The new balms are a little too sweet for my own taste, personally—but the rest of my family thinks the review samples we tried are just fine, thank you very much. And there’s no denying these balms moisturize and heal chapped lips like champs. The new line comes in three flavors: roseberry (raspberry, rosehips and dark chocolate—my personal favorite and the most chocolatey); mint (a brisk mix of mint, rosemary and dark chocolate); and lavender (lavender, blueberry and dark chocolate). One of them will surely be the balm for your chocolate-craving soul—and lips. (Photo credit: Eco Lips ) Glossary: Organic , Fair trade , Fair wage , Sustainable

How to green our mindset

” Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul.” John Muir “I still find the day too short for all the thoughts I want to think, all the walks I want to take, all the books I want to read and all the friends I want to see.” John Burroughs The very first step in greening our lives is to green our attitude, the way we think about and embrace life. Here are some simple tips: Unplug our media mind once in awhile and get out on a walk or even a sit in nature. A study by University of Illinois scientists Frances E. Kuo and William C. Sullivan found that a canopy of trees and greenery cools more than the forest floor, it can help to cool mental anguish and unrest. Their findings clearly indicate that: “Exposure to trees and vegetation seems to reduce mental fatigue and feelings of irritability that come with it.” Gardening is a great way to unplug from stress and connect with nature. A green time-out is usually just the ticket for improving our kids mindset because children benefit greatly from immersion in the green world as well. Head on over to the National Wildlife Federation’s Green Hour website for great info. and ideas about family green time.

Green Lantern May Be Orange

I know they’re doing some nontraditional things with the costume for The Green Lantern , but did they really have to mess with Ryan Reynolds’s face? Our good friends at the WOW Report noticed that in a paparazzi picture snapped on the set, the actor was seen sporting a shade of fake tan that goes past “Michael Kors” and teeters on the edge of “insensitive blackface routine from Mad Men .” Take a powder, guys!
