Mama, you got some ‘splanin’ to do… Police on Monday arrested the mother of a missing 5-year-old Arizona girl on child abuse charges “directly related” to the girl, and said they don’t believe they’ll find the child alive. In a news conference that offered the most detail yet about what investigators think happened to Jhessye Shockley, Glendale police said the girl’s mother, Jerice Hunter, was now the investigation’s “No. 1 focus.” Hunter was booked Monday at the Maricopa County jail. A sheriff’s spokesman said Hunter was unable to talk to reporters because she had not yet been assigned a housing unit. She was scheduled for her first court appearance Monday night. Hunter previously told The Associated Press she had nothing to do with Jhessye’s disappearance and was highly critical of the department’s investigation. Glendale police Sgt. Brent Coombs said at the news conference that new information in the past few days led police to serve another search warrant on Hunter’s Glendale apartment and arrest her Monday. Witnesses say a school bus driver grabbed a middle school student by his neck and threw him against the window after hearing the student repeatedly use the ‘n-word,’ despite having asked him to stop. Terris Devon Richard, 35, of Charlotte South Carolina was charged with third-degree assault and battery to the 15-year-old boy who said the driver made additional threats against him and his father’s life. Richard, who is black, tells WCSC-TV that he knows what he did was wrong but was upset after reporting the student’s language weeks earlier, and nothing being done about it. The boy who is white said there had been an ‘ongoing incident’ between the driver and him, according to the police report. Reached on the phone by CBS Charlotte, Richard declined comment saying, ‘I don’t want to talk about it … I haven’t been to court yet. I’m hanging up now.’ A deputy responding to the school on October 27th found one of two boys crying on a school bus parked outside with a red neck and stretched-out t-shirt. A witnesses told the deputy that the driver ‘slammed on brakes’ and warned he’d ‘shoot up [the boy’s] house and kill his daddy’ as well as ‘drag the victim to school by his neck until he breaks his windpipe.’ The brother of the boy, according to the police report, said his brother had greeted a friend saying, ‘what up, my [N-word]?’ despite being asked not to by the driver. His brother asked the driver to explain to him why he took offense to him saying the word. According to the report, the bus driver did not drop the boy at his home but took him and his brother back to their school. Witnesses said that a school employee was also on the bus at the time of the alleged assault. Commenting Tuesday, the school’s principal, Scott Matthews told WCBD-TV, ‘It’s an unfortunate incident, it’s an incident that I don’t think anybody likes to happen,’ he said. ‘That’s why we need to take the time and make sure that we accurately investigate so that we… make sure that we get this right.’ The report said charges were brought after deputies reviewed a bus surveillance video. A newspaper says a radical Muslim sect known locally as Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks and has promised to launch new assaults. The Daily Trust, the newspaper of record in Nigeria’s Muslim north, says Boko Haram spokesman Abul-Qaqa spoke to them Saturday and claimed the attacks that have killed at least 67 people in and around Damaturu and Maiduguri. The spokesman told the newspaper: “We will continue attacking federal government formations until security forces stop their excesses on our members and vulnerable civilians.” Boko Haram, whose name means “Western education is sacrilege” in the local Hausa language, has waged an increasingly bloody sectarian fight against Nigeria’s weak central government The latest attacks centered around Damaturu, the capital of Yobe state, Nigerian Red Cross official Ibrahim Bulama said. The attack started Friday with a car bomb exploding outside a three-story building used as a military office and barracks in the city, with many uniformed security agents dying in the blast, Bulama said. Gunmen then went through the town, blowing up a First Bank PLC branch and attacking at least three police stations and some churches, leaving them in rubble, he said. Gunfire continued through the night and gunmen raided the village of Potiskum near the capital as well, witnesses said, leaving at least two people dead there. Hillary Adams continued to use social media Thursday, tweeting that her father had cut off her cellphone. Also Thursday, Rockport Police Chief Tim Jayroe said Aransas County Court-at-Law Judge William Adams won’t face charges in the 2004 beating of this then-16-year-old daughter Hillary because the five-year statute of limitations has expired. Had the incident come to light sooner, Adams likely would have been charged with causing injury to a child or other assault-related offenses, Jayroe said. “We believe that there was a criminal offense involved and that there was substantial evidence to indicate that, and under normal circumstances … a charge could have been made,” Jayroe said. According to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s probable cause affidavit, deputies went to Lederer’s house to conduct a welfare check on July 7. Before they arrived, Lederer called 911 saying there was someone hiding in her bushes. When the deputy arrived at her house, Lederer was screaming at a tree and said, “Get out of here,” the affidavit says. She told the deputy she was talking to the tree and the deputy told her, “the tree was unable to talk and that the tree was not a person.” Lederer then told the deputy to arrest her mailbox and tried to climb a bush while yelling that someone was sitting in the bushes spying on her. She then told the deputy she had taken the prescription drug, Xanax. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews came to evaluate her, and took her to Palms West Hospital in Loxahatchee where she was Baker Acted, the affidavit says. Before Lederer was transported, she told the deputy no one else was in her house. But the deputy noticed some children’s toys inside. He found a 15-year-old and a 1-year-old lying in bed. One of the children said that Lederer had been calling her the wrong name the whole week, and knew she had a drug problem. The deputy smelled urine and saw feces, old food, ants, and roaches in the house, the affidavit says. The state Department of Children and Families came to Lederer’s house and removed the two children, whose names were withheld in the report. Trust us this is as sick and twisted as it sounds… A woman who faked a pregnancy and panicked as her supposed due date grew near attacked a pregnant mother with a baseball bat and cut her full-term fetus from her womb with an Exacto knife, killing the mother and baby, according to court documents filed Monday. Annette Morales-Rodriguez, 33, faces one count each of first-degree intentional homicide while armed and first-degree intentional homicide of an unborn child while armed in the death of Maritza Ramirez-Cruz and the boy she was set to deliver next week. Morales-Rodriguez faces mandatory life in prison if convicted. Pregnant mom, unborn baby killed in ‘fetal abduction’ Morales-Rodriguez made a brief court appearance Monday, standing silent as her bail was set at $1 million. Online court records didn’t list an attorney for her, and the Milwaukee public defender’s office voicemail wouldn’t accept messages Monday afternoon. “I don’t know what she had in her mind,” said Maria Garcia, 44, who lives next to Morales-Rodriguez and described her as her best friend. According to the criminal complaint, Morales-Rodriguez told detectives that her boyfriend wanted a son but she couldn’t get pregnant. She told him she was pregnant anyway, but started to grow desperate as what would be her due date approached. She told investigators she planned for two weeks to find a pregnant woman, take the baby and make it hers, the complaint said. Now if that plan sounds FAWKING ridiculous wait until you read how she actually carried it out…SMH Morales-Rodriguez drove around on Wednesday searching for a pregnant woman, but found none, authorities said. On Thursday she drove around a nonprofit organization that provides Hispanics with health care and found Ramirez-Cruz. The 23-year-old had moved from Puerto Rico to join her childhood sweetheart, Christian Mercado, said Mercado’s father, Carlos Mercado. They already had three children together and Ramirez-Cruz was carrying their fourth. Morales-Rodriguez told detectives she thought about telling her boyfriend the truth, but decided against it and offered Ramirez-Cruz a ride. Telling Ramirez-Cruz she needed to change her shoes, she drove them to her weathered two-story house on Milwaukee’s south side. Ramirez-Cruz went inside to use the bathroom. When she emerged, Morales-Rodriguez was waiting for her with a baseball bat. The complaint said Morales-Rodriguez began to bludgeon her. Ramirez-Cruz fell to the ground. Morales-Rodriguez straddled the younger woman and choked her until she passed out, the complaint said. See, we told you. If there was ever a case where someone deserved the death penalty with no trial, it’s this one. Source
We don’t generally support the death penalty but in this case we’re opposed for different reasons. We don’t think Shaniya Davis’ murderer deserves a quick clean death, instead we think a “Deliverance” style slow murking at the hands of a cellmate named Bubba with six neck rolls and a red hot sausage might be more appropriate. In any case, the fate of this heartless muhfugga should be decided very soon: A judge has cleared the way for prosecutors to seek the death penalty against the man accused of killing 5-year-old Shaniya Davis in 2009. Prosecutors, however, told Superior Court Judge Jim Ammons in a hearing this afternoon that they do not intend to seek the death penalty for her mother, Antoniette Davis, 27, who is accused of giving up her daughter to pay off a drug debt. Mario Andrette McNeill, 31, and Davis are both charged with first-degree murder in Shaniya’s death. Prosecutors intend to seek the death penalty against McNeill because of two aggravating factors – that he is accused of killing Shaniya during the commission of a rape and kidnapping and that the crime was “especially heinous, atrocious and cruel,” District Attorney Billy West said. West said in court that Antoniette Davis owed McNeill a $200 drug debt and that she was unwilling to have sex with him to pay it off. Instead, she offered her 5-year-old daughter to settle the debt, he said. “This is a case of a rape and/or sex offense against a 5-year-old victim who was helpless to prevent her asphyxiation,” West said. “Her body was left in a ditch after she was asphyxiated and this was done, allegedly, by someone she knew and perhaps even trusted.” McNeill’s lawyers did not contest the prosecutors’ bid to proceed with the case as a capital trial, saying only they did not agree with the prosecution’s position. “We would like the record to show we don’t agree or concur with the DA’s aggravating factors,” defense lawyer Harold “Butch” Pope told the judge. Ammons granted the prosecution’s request to proceed with the case capitally. It sounds like this dude is about to be put to his death, we don’t see how he wouldn’t be convicted, based on the hotel security alone. Shaniya’s mom’s case is a lil more complicated though.
