Donald Trump just ruined Game of Thrones. No, the President didn’t reveal any final season spoilers, although we’re pretty sure he wouldn’t hesitate to do so if it somehow meant Republicans would keep the House on Tuesday. But he did go ahead and use the show’s iconic tagline on Twitter today, making sure no one can ever think of it again without also thinking of our racist Commander-in-Chief. Here’s what we’re talking about: Game of Thrones arrived on the television scene in the summer of 2011 by warning its viewers that “Winter is Coming.” This was a nod to the dangerous White Walkers and how they would eventually breach The Wall and kill pretty much every human alive. (Don’t ask. Just Google or, better yet, go catch up Game of Thrones before it returns in mid-2019 at some point. The show is really good.) No three words are more associated with the most popular show of its era than these three. Winter is Coming . So… what did Trump just write on Twitter? In the legendary font of the iconic HBO drama? Sanctions are Coming . Most folks clued in to the political arena think this is a reference to sanctions against Iraq. And while many experts on the topic seem to believe this is a terrible idea, we’re not here to get into a complicated political debate. (Except to say that maybe the President of the United States should not treat such a significant idea/step as a game or a joke.) We are here, however, to simply say: Come on, Mr. President! To paraphrase critics of athletes who bring up social issues, can’t you stick to politics? HBO agrees with this assessment. The network has issued a brief statement in response to Trump’s use of its show’s tagline and font. It reads: We were not aware of this messaging and would prefer our trademark not be misappropriated for political purposes. It has also Tweeted, hilariously, “How do you say trademark misuse in Dothraki?” And star Maisie Williams, who plays wildly popular character Arya, also expressed her disdain on social media: Game of Thrones Season 8 will be comprised of just six episodes. However, each will be movie-length, around 90 minutes if not more, many sources have confirmed. But that isn’t the point right now. The point is that Trump has already made it difficult to enjoy professional football and Twitter and ensured that we’ll never refer to our soccer game carpools as “caravans” ever again. Hard to believe that it was less than five months ago that Ariana Grande stunned fans by announcing her engagement to Pete Davidson . Of course, saying the situation didn’t play out the way she expected would be putting it very, very mildly. Ariana and Pete broke up unexpectedly last month, and from what it seems, the split was far from amicable. Now, there are many perks to dating a comedian, chief among them, of course, is the fact that your relationship is sure to be filled with laughter. But there are downsides, as well, particularly the fact that comics tend to mine the more painful aspects of their private lives for material, which means there’s a good chance that a difficult breakup will immediately become joke fodder. So it’s not terribly surprising that a new promo for the upcoming episode of SNL finds Pete playing the news about his love life for laughs. Standing alongside hosts Jonah Hill and musical guest Maggie Rogers, Davidson jokingly proposes to Rogers, who promptly shoots him down, an obvious reference to Davidson’s tendency to move very quickly in relationships — particularly when his partner is a well-known singer. Still, Grande was obviously not thrilled to find that her very recent breakup is already being played for laughs, and she made her feelings very clear with a pair of scathing tweets. “For somebody who claims to hate relevancy [you] sure love clinging to it huh,” Grande wrote. “Thank [you], next,” she added. We can’t help but think “fame” would’ve worked better there than “relevancy.” After all, who hates being relevant? But we digress. Needless to say, fans have overwhelmingly sided with Ariana, with the tweets attracting many references to the spillage of tea and state-sanctioned beheadings. (We assume that’s what’s meant by the phrase “slaaaaaay queen!”) And as the details of Pete and Ariana’s breakup are hard to come by, it’s impossible for us to say if it was appropriate for Pete to joke about the breakup so soon after the fact. But we can say that if Ariana is this thin-skinned, it’s a safe bet that her relationship with a famously envelope-pushing comic was likely doomed from the start. Again, this argument is null and void if it turns out that Pete precipitated the breakup with some sort of monstrous behavior, but if it was just a standard split, then Ari might have to just come to grips with the fact that the snarky sense of humor she previously found so endearing will now serve as a source of mild irritation. Jinger Duggar has been treating Counting On fans to photos of her adorable little family . Now, she and husband Jeremy Vuolo are sharing a new photo. In it, she’s twinning with her 3-month old baby, Felicity. “Like mother, like daughter,” Jinger captioned the photo that you’re about to see. In it, the 24-year-old Duggar daughter is wearing a floral headband. Baby Felicity is wearing a matching headband — it’s just a smaller version for her tiny baby head. While they’re not otherwise in matching outfits, we think that it still counts as twinning. (Seriously, finding a baby outfit that matches adult clothing can be tricky) Besides, the picture is just too cute. This mother-daughter photo is so cute! This is the time of year for dressing up in a lot more than headbands, but the Duggar family does not celebrate Halloween. Michelle Duggar expressed her strong views in a blog post in 2011. “While we do go to pumpkin patches and corn mazes,” Michelle wrote. “We don’t do the Halloween thing.” You miss out on a lot of fun and a lot of culture when you grow up in the Duggar household. “From the beginning of our marriage we just kind of felt like we didn’t want to celebrate that holiday,” she shared. “But,” Michelle admitted. “We enjoy the harvest celebration.” “Our church fellowship has had different celebrations through the years that we’ve been a part of,” Michelle continued. Michelle wrote that these celebrations were “ones where the children can play games and receive candy and toys and do all kinds of fun things, like a cake walk.” Really, of course, the family’s reluctance to participate in Halloween stems from a desire to isolate the children from any cultural experiences that they consider unbiblical. In Growing Up Duggar by Jill, Jinger, Jessa, and Jana mention how seriously Jim Bob and Michelle take the supernatural. “One specific thing that our parents have always been careful about is magic,” the book says. “Which often shows up in children’s movies.” “As harmless as it may seem, it’s not a joke in God’s eyes,” the girls say. “Magic, sorcery, witches, spell-casting and the like are all part of the demonic realm that God wants us to stay away from,” the book continues. “No matter how ‘good’ a film containing magic may seem,” the girls warn. “God speaks seriously throughout the Bible.” The girls write that “it is not something to be glorified or portrayed by any means as something fun or attractive.” So we don’t think that Felicity will be going trick-or-treating when she gets older. Halloween, first of all, tends to glorify a lot of those things — you know, people dress as witches and ghosts. Also, the holiday itself is based upon an ancient religious festival of the Celtics, that involved honoring the dead while celebrating the year’s final harvest. While most see Halloween as fairly distinct from Samhain, which some still practice today, to the Duggars, it’s a spiritual threat. That said, Jeremy Vuolo has shown that he’s less strict than Jim Bob and Michelle. Just as Austin Forsyth viewed and reviewed the Marvel film, Thor , Jeremy has demonstrated that he doesn’t share their views. He believes that women can wear pants. Might he one day allow his daughter to dress up as Batgirl or as a princess? Maybe we’ll find out. For now, she’s a literal baby and is perfectly happy wearing a headband that matches her mother’s. Lena Dunham has been a divisive figure for the majority of her career, but this week, the Girls creator revealed that she shares something in common with tens of millions of Americans from all walks of life and all regions of the country. In an interview with actor Dax Shepard, Dunham revealed that she has struggled with prescription pill addiction for several years. “I was having crazy anxiety and having to show up for things that I didn’t feel equipped to show up for … but I know I need to do it, and when I take a Klonopin, I can do it,” Dunham said on the latest episode of Shepard’s podcast. “I didn’t have any trouble getting a doctor to tell me, ‘No, you’ve got serious anxiety issues, you should be taking this. This is how you should be existing,’” Dunham continued. “It stopped being, ‘I take one when I fly,’ and it started being like, ‘I take one when I’m awake.’” Dunham attributes her acute anxiety to trauma stemming from sexual assault and health issues: “I was diagnosed with pretty serious PTSD,” Lena said. “I have a few sexual traumas in my past and then I had all these surgeries and then I had my hysterectomy after a period of really extreme pain … It stopped feeling like I had panic attacks and it started feeling like I was a living panic attack.” These days, it often seems that public figures only open up about substance abuse issues when they’re forced to following some sort of PR disaster, so we commend Lena for opening up of her own volition. Earlier this week, it was revealed that Dunham will be penning a screenplay for a J.J. Abrams-Steven Spielberg film about a family of Syrian refugees. On social media, many were critical of the decision to hire Dunham for such a project, arguing that there’s no way someone in her position can relate to the plight of Syrians driven from their homeland by war. But perhaps Abrams, Spielberg, and company knew what the rest of us did not — that Dunham is a survivor of a different variety, and with sufficient compassion, she may be able to channel her painful past in a creatively productive way. Only time will tell, of course. But for now, we applaud Dunham for being candid about such a topic that affects so many, yet is so rarely addressed. Meghan Markle played a lawyer on the USA Network hit drama Suits. But criticism continues to pour in regarding the Duchess of Sussex, most notably that she simply cannot play the role of a Royal with the proper respect it deserves. Over the past several weeks, sources have come down hard on Markle for snubbing various Palace traditions , typically ones associated with fashion and decorum. And now it seems as if certain people are also taking issue with the way Markle is acting overseas. The expecting mother and Prince Harry have mostly been receiving rave reviews for their behavior on their ongoing tour — but Markle is coming under fire at the moment for how she greeted Tonga’s King Tupou VI and his wife Queen Nanasipau’u last week. Specifically, how weakly sue curtsied on front of the powerful couple. Here is a still shot of the bow in question: Did Markle get down low enough? Did she hold her form for long enough? Did her facial expression make it clear she just wasn’t that into the gesture? All of the above, Twitter users appear to be saying. So it’s also possible that she only gently curtsied in order to protect her fetus. We really can’t say for certain at the moment. However, a so-called etiquette expert named William Hanson told The Daily Mail that Markle has a lot to learn about how a Royal should act overall. He says she sticks her hands into her pockets on far too many occasions. “We know that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are pioneering a new, relaxed, tactile branch of monarchy, but having hands in the pocket is a step too far,” this random critic says, adding: “There is good casual and there is bad casual. “Placing a hands in the pocket is too relaxed and unprofessional.” Markle, of course, is no stranger to criticism. Just ask her awful half-sister . We doubt she’ll respond to the backlash she is garnering here, especially because Hanson admits that her actions aren’t actually a big deal. Shannon Beador’s great apology tour kicked off on Tuesday’s episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County. The 54-year-old had previously lashed out at her castmates when everyone admitted that her behavior at the top of the trip to Jamaica was not the best. Who can blame them for trashing her? She’s been so hostile to just about everyone who wants to help her out. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, and after a day of hiding, Beador rejoined the ladies and opened up about her thoughts. “To address the elephant in the room, I appreciate you guys giving me the time and space because I’m a person when I’m upset, I need to take a step back,” Shannon declared as though she was addressing her lemmings. “After last night, I am incredibly hurt. I know there are discussions that have to be had at some point, and we can do that. But I needed time.” That’s when she finally admitted that she was going through a lot of things. “I get it, we all have stuff on our plate, but for me, in my life, it is more than I’ve ever had on my plate,” she said with a stern look on her face. While most of the women just nodded to shut Shannon up because she’d already sucked most of the fun out of the vacation, Emily Simpson was quick to point out that Shannon refused to support her. “It’s a fair criticism, and I apologize for that,’ Shannon told her, but there was no confirmation whether Shannon was going to make progress with both Emily and Gina. The biggest surprise here was that Kelly later revealed she was mad about the way Shannon handled things. “Thanks for finally coming, I’ve been calling you. I was worried about you,” said Kelly with tears in her eyes. “All you had to say was to have manners and to be kind and nice. You could have just said ‘I’m here.’ It was hurtful, Shannon, I was worried about you,” Kelly complained. The biggest concern for Kelly was that Shannon has long strived for people to have manners, noting that it was “ironic that she’s the one with the least manners.” “She went through all these cotillions, and it’s like, girl, you don’t have any manners,” Kelly continued. “Shannon has no idea of the stress that she’s put on us today. She has no idea how worried we were, and that’s the kind of apology we’re going to get?” Kelly fumed. Gina was up next to air her side of the story, and it quickly returned to the fact that Shannon was putting up a wall. “It was upsetting all around. I didn’t realize all this was going on. Honestly, I was just trying to break through. I was trying to be your friend,” Gina said to her enemy. “I have a very difficult time hearing that you’re going through a divorce and you’re still attracted to your husband, and he’s still your best friend because that’s what I wanted in my life,” Shannon finally admitted. “When you said that I was judging you, that wasn’t my intent. My intent was just to impart the experience and the information because I started my process with a very optimistic attitude,” Shannon continued. That allowed Gina to finally open up to Shannon in a way she never could have before. “I’m not sitting here and saying everything’s perfect and that’s why I’m getting divorced,” she said. “Like, no, obviously not. It’s a transition. It’s really hard. I hear you guys, but this is my journey. I just want to be respected for it, you know?” Gina said. Well, it certainly hasn’t been easy traveling, but Demi Lovato has reached a major milestone in her long road to recovery. Lovato is still in rehab and has not spoken to the media in several months, but her mother, Dianna De La Garza, shared an encouraging update with fans over the weekend. Appearing on Maria Menounos’ Sirius radio show, De La Garza revealed that Demi recently celebrated 90 days of sobriety. “She has 90 days,” De La Garza said. “I couldn’t be more thankful or more proud of her because addiction being a disease, it’s work. It’s very hard,” she added. “It’s not easy, and there are no shortcuts.” Back in July, Lovato suffered a heroin overdose that nearly claimed her life. After being hospitalized for a week, the singer was transported to an Arizona rehabilitation facility, where she’s been a patient ever since. Demi has left the facility several times to meet with addiction specialists in Chicago, and her mother has been her traveling companion for each trip. De La Garza revealed to Menounos that she found out about her daughter’s overdose via text messages from friends who reached out to offer support after reading the news online. “The one text message that clued me in on what was going on said, ‘I just saw on TMZ and I’m so sorry,’” De La Garza said. “Before I could get to TMZ, I got the phone call from her assistant and she said, ‘We’re at the hospital.’ So then I knew, okay, she’s not gone,” she recalled. “ “She’s here. And I said, ‘What’s going on?’ And the words that I heard are just a nightmare for any parent: ‘Demi overdosed.’” In the months since her overdose, Demi has kept a low profile, but those who know the singer best say she’s 100 percent devoted to hard work of recovery. Lovato issued a statement to fans on her Instagram page prior to checking into rehab: “I now need time to focus on my sobriety and road to recovery,” she wrote. “The love you all have shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out of this on the other side.” Those who know her best, say that Demi has benefited tremendously from the love and support of her family, friends, and fans. So you know how people have been talking about how Tyler Baltierra should leave Catelynn Lowell for a long time now? Yeah, it’s this whole thing. It’s weird, because in the beginning of their reality television career, they were this adorable couple who made the painful decision to place their child for adoption because it was best for her. They were definitely Teen Mom fan favorites … so what happened? Things had been going downhill for a while, after Catelynn and Tyler neglected to do the things they’d planned to do after they had their first child. They never went to college, they never did all the things they said they were going to do to better themselves and change their lives. But then they had their second child, Nova, who they obviously kept. They also sent Nova to spend the night at Catelynn’s mother’s house multiples times a week, and they once even let Tyler’s father babysit her while they went out of the country. Fans will remember that Catelynn’s mother and Tyler’s father were pretty much the main reasons they thought they couldn’t raise their first child … So opinions began to change, definitely. Then, last year, Catelynn checked into a treatment center for six weeks to deal with suicide thoughts she began having after a miscarriage . And no one thought poorly about her for that. But then she came home, and a few weeks after that, she went back for another six weeks . Lots of people really thought poorly about her then. The thing was that she didn’t seem open to trying to get help at home — at outpatient treatment center in their state, therapy, nothing. Even after Tyler explained how hard it was on their daughter to have her gone for so long , she wasn’t moved. She even seemed kind of cold about it — she didn’t tell Nova she would be gone for over a month again, and she told Tyler that she’d “manage” without her. When we saw all of this happen on Teen Mom OG, Tyler was obviously frustrated by it all. He said at one point that he was beginning to think that he and Cate weren’t right for each other anymore. In more recent episodes, he called her behavior “repulsing,” and he’s really just seemed over her altogether. As he complained to some friends, “marriage is a bitch.” You might be thinking something along the lines of “hold up, aren’t they about to have another kid?” And it’s true — Catelynn is pregnant right now , and in March she and Tyler will welcome another daughter. But on the show, Tyler hasn’t seemed super excited about the whole thing because, as anyone who knows anything about any of this can see, the timing just isn’t good. He even claimed that they’d been doing everything they could to prevent a pregnancy. What we’re saying with all of this is that just a few months ago, things were really bad for these two, and perhaps they still are. So bad that Tyler recently sort of commented that he deserves better than Catelynn . In a recent post on the Teen Mom OG Instagram page, someone left a comment complaining about how Cate had been refusing to watch the show with Tyler, something his therapist reccommended. “I cannot STAND Cate,” that person wrote. “I hope he moves on from her at some point. He deserves a real woman, not a little girl.” And Tyler liked that comment. It got a lot of attention, because of course it did, but now, Tyler is claiming that the whole thing was just a misunderstanding. “OMG people!” he tweeted to kick off his explanation. “That was a comment that Cate’s dad replied to & since I got his notification I scrolled to see what he had responded to & must have hit the like button.” “Why would I like a negative comment about my wife with her dad on the thread?” he asked. “You people are psycho lmao!” Yeah, so that’s not terribly convincing, huh? Sure, lots of people probably accidentally like things all the time on social media, but if it’s something like this, they usually just un-like it, you know? Besides, the word is that the girl who wrote that original comment has made it clear that Catelynn’s dad never replied to it, so that’s something. Look, maybe Tyler’s telling the truth, and he really did like that comment accidentally. Or maybe he really has been feeling like he deserves a better partner than Catelynn .
