Kayla Harrison Overcomes History of Sexual Abuse, Wins Gold

There are endless impressive stories at the 2012 Summer Olympics – from Michael Phelps setting a medal record to Gabby Douglas winning the all-around gymnastic title to Oscar Pistorius advancing to the 400-meter semifinals – but no one has a story quite like Kayla Harrison. The judo Gold medalist (in the 78-kilogram division) has overcome an unimaginable past, as her former coach pleaded guilty in federal court in 2007 to charges of illicit sexual conduct. Harrison, 22, was listed in court papers as “K.H.” or “the victim.” Kayla has been open about the experience, which she says mostly took place on trips around the globe when she was 16. Emotional during the medal ceremony yesterday, she said soon afterward: “Kind of just reflecting back on my life. Everything it’s taken to get here, and everything that I’ve gone through. I’m America’s first gold medalist in judo – and always will be.” Harrison’s ex-coach, Daniel Doyle, was sentenced to 10 years in prison and has been expelled for life from USA Judo. Kayla has clearly moved on successfully, using her past as motivation. For herself and hopefully for others. “Never give up on your dreams,” Harrison said on Thursday. “I mean, if I can do it, anybody can do it. Things have happened, but now, my life is a dream. I’m living my dream right now.”

Kristen Stewart BFF Tweets Best Wishes, Support to Sullen Star

Many Twihards may not want to hear it, especially when Robert Pattinson is rumored to be hitting the bottle extra hard these days, but Kristen Stewart is in rough shape. Multiple sources confirm the actress is torn apart by her affair, the pain from which was evident in her initial public apology . But while most Robsten supporters likely believe Kristen deserves everything she’s feeling and experiencing, at least one friend remains in her corner. Actress Scout Taylor Compton, with whom Stewart has been close for years, Tweeted the following messages this week: please understand i support, care, and love my friends like you all do with yours, but also understand privacy should always be respected… wish i could take people’s pain away. THAT would be my superpower… its a pain and hurt that will never be erased. Do you care, Twilight Saga fans? Do you feel any pity at all for Stewart and the mistakes she has made? Or do you feel as if no punishment could be harsh enough for the woman who drove Robert Pattinson to despair?

Serena Williams Obliterates Maria Sharapova, Wins Gold Medal

Serena Williams can add one more achievement to her Hall of Fame resume: Olympic champion. The 14-time Grand Slam winner won a major tournament on the hallowed grounds of Wimbledon for the second time this summer, destroying top-ranked Maria Sharapova in the Gold Medal match by a score of 6-0, 6-1. It was the most lopsided women’s final in Olympic history. Williams lost only 17 games across six matches and let out a scream and even did a little dance upon taking the decisive point. “I don’t think I’ve ever danced like that,” she said afterward. “I don’t even know where the dance came from.” Serena now moves on to the doubles semifinals alongside sister Venus. It’s been quite a year for the legendary star. “I was so focused here,” she said. “I remember I was serving and I was thinking: ‘Serena, this is your best chance to win a gold medal. You’re at Wimbledon, you’re on grass, you play great on grass, pull it together, just win this.’ And that’s what I thought about.”

Jersey Shore Season 6 to Premiere October 4

Jersey Shore Season 6 will kick off Thursday, October 4, with a second season of popular spinoff Snooki and JWoww also reportedly picked up by MTV. It’s hard to believe this will be the sixth season of debauchery from the ensemble that first graced our TV screens in early 2010. Brings a tear to your eye. So much has changed since the early days, most notably Jionni LaValle getting Snooki pregnant and The Situation getting sober following a trip to rehab. What can we expect in Jersey Shore Season 6? Snooki, as we know, is expecting her first child and reportedly living in her own pad next door to the familiar cesspool, while Mike no longer drinks . Right there, they’ve reduced the number of peeps boozing by a quarter and the overall drama in the house by even more. Will it still be awesome TV? With most of the cast in relationships, there may also be less hooking up. On the flip side, JWoww and Roger may start fights if they don’t get smush room dibs. One crazy episode we will get to see is Deena Cortese getting arrested in the middle of the day for her drunken disorderliness. Good times. Pauly and Vinny will no doubt take their burgeoning platonic man-love to new heights, new catchphrases will be created, and the Shore Store will be staffed by rich slackers. What do you think? Grant Show and Katherine LaNasa: Engaged!

Former Melrose Place hunk Grant Show is off the market. The actor is engaged to actress Katherine LaNasa, her spokesperson confirmed to People . “Katherine is very excited and already working on plans for the wedding that will happen later this year,” her rep says of the blonde beauty, 45. Here’s a nice photo of the engaged twosome: This will be the second marriage for Grant Show, who has recurred on Private Practice . Pollyanna McIntosh filed for divorce in 2011 after they wed in 2004. This will be the third marriage for Katherine LaNasa, who was formerly married to actor French Stewart and to the late acting legend Dennis Hopper. What Will Snooki Name Her Baby Boy?!

Snooki and Jionni LaValle have revealed what they will name their baby boy. No, it’s not Jionni Jr., or Meatball, or Lil Guido, or Frankie G, or Vinny Jr. It’s Lorenzo!! The news was accidentally spilled earlier today by her Jersey Shore co-stars while they were being interviewed by USA Today about the new season. The 24-year-old and Jionni LaValle , who are engaged, announced they are expecting a boy in May, and Lorenzo was on her short list of names then. Snooki has already had one baby shower, which was filmed for the MTV series. Another shower, the source said, is likely to happen early next month. Snooki ‘s due in September. Will she be a good mom?

JWoww Forgets To Show Off The Breasts

I’m pretty disappointed by these shots of JWoWW walking around the Jersey Shore, I mean the only thing she’s got going for her are those massive fake breasts, so why would she cover them up? It just seems like such a waste. She’s wearing a moo-moo, obese people wear this kind of thing, it’s basically a tarp I can see a tiny amount of cleavage, but that’s about it. What a let down. At least bend over a couple of times… Give me something I can use damn it. And leave that fat friends at home.

Happy 66th Birthday, Bikini!

While two-piece swimwear had been around since the early 20th Century, the bikini was officially introduced July 5, 1946. The world? Never the same after that. We can all thank a Frenchman named Louis Reard, whose idea was to fashion a garment, using as little fabric as possible, that could still be legally worn in public. As our gallery of celebrity bikini photos shows, his dream lives on to this day. A French sunbather tries on the bikini in the mid-1940s . The rest, as they say, is history. Today, 66 years later, his invention is so indoctrinated into the very fabric of our culture that we even have the bikini onesie . Pink Releases New Track: Listen Now!

The first since “Bridge of Light” (off December’s Happy Feet Two soundtrack), “Blow Me (One Last Kiss)” will be the first single off Pink’s upcoming album.
