SNL: Dana Carvey as well as Pals Come to Rescue, and Justin Bieber (Hmmmm)…

Dana Carvey (a wish to see) brought a demure as well as kind of icy Mike Myers with him, plus Jon Lovitz , to try as well as save “Saturday Night Live” from its torpor. I’m not sure it worked, or anything can. this deteriorate has been a disaster, as well as it only gets worse as well as worse. the the single more expel members, whose names no the single knows or cares about, have been only terrible. the “vets”– Andy Samberg, Jason Sudeikis, Bill Hader, Kristin Wiig, Kenan Thompson –are over it, as they say. the mount out sequence, toward the end, was the “Regis” parody–dead on, essentially as well as really funny. “Wayne’s World” returned with Carvey as well as Myers, who riffed upon the pretension of “Winter’s Bone” for the Oscars. Oy. the best impulse in the total uncover comes at 1:31 upon your DVR, at the really end, when Myers folds him arms as well as stands way to the left of the screen. Jon Lovitz tries in vain to rivet him. Myers mouths “how have been you?” then backs away. then the single of the latest expel members tries to verbalise to him, as well as Myers signals which he can’t speak, as if he has laryngitis. Two more things about SNL: Justin Bieber , not as big than Dana Carvey’s teenager sons, as well as wearing girl’s red sleet boots with in. tall platforms. He did not sing upon the show. even in his “Church Lady” stage with Carvey, he didn’t even hum. we regularly say, singers want to sing. look at Steven Tyler upon “American Idol.” He’s ready to break out in to strain at any moment. ( Jennifer Lopez is not.) we goal Bieber’s film makes him a lot of money, as well as which he manages to save as well as deposit it. the time is ticking. And the James Franco bit upon “Weekend Update” was essentially flattering funny. “I similar to having jobs!” the man says, as he handles the evidence cards as well as cleans the desk. Whoever played Franco got it. PS Linkin Park : good timing, 6 months after their manuscript came out. Talk about marketing. http:// www.hulu.com/watch/213306/saturday-night-live-church-chat SNL: Dana Carvey as well as Pals Come to Rescue, as well as Justin Bieber (Hmmmm)… Possibly associated posts: (automatically generated) Related posts upon kristin wiig Diaper Changing Table « Frontline Plus Pet It Doesn’t Take the Psychic to Know Not to Drink as well as Drive « Tv Time 101 Bridesmaids trailer « Trailer Tracker Related posts upon oy Boys Vampire Costumes | review prices internet American advertisements « The H2: Celebrating President Reagan’s … 2/7-2/11 « Weinrich Walk of Fame Related posts upon pleasure Wilding! James Franco Adds ‘Serial Killer’ To Already Packed C.V.

James Franco — perhaps history’s greatest multipurpose agent since baking soda — has agreed to star and to direct in a biopic of serial killer Richard Ramirez , also known as the Night Stalker (and, no, not the one that investigated monsters ). Ramirez terrorized Los Angeles in the mid-80’s, before being arrested and convicted of 13 counts of murder, 5 attempted murders and 11 sexual assaults. So, Oscars , Faulker and Cormac McCarthy , his line of fictional underwear , Sal Mineo , and a novel of addiction. He either is incredibly organized and incredibly tired, or has the best cocaine. SNL Scorecard: Did the Rookies Save Gwyneth Paltrow’s Show?

Last night’s Gwyneth Paltrow-hosted edition of Saturday Night Live used an interesting formula: The first half of the show featured mostly the established cast-members (Kristen Wiig even got to do that Kristen Wiig thing that she does, a rarity as of late), which has been, at best, hit or miss all season. Then, after a notably feisty “Weekend Update,” new featured players Jay Pharoah, Taran Killam and Paul Brittain, respectively, gave us three individual sketches that all killed. Were their efforts enough to make this a memorable show? On to the scorecard!

Who Scored Big in Week 11 of SNL’s Not-Ready-for-Prime-Time-Player Relevancy Poll?

It was a peculiar week for Saturday Night Live , with the cast pretty much resigned to taking a back seat to the manic comedic stylings of host Jim Carrey; except for the cold open and “Weekend Update,” Carrey was the focal point of every sketch. As a result, this week’s SNL Relevancy Poll is thrown more than a bit off-kilter: Instead of cast members standing out, what we saw instead were cast members just trying to keep up with their host. And if there’s anything we know about SNL , it’s that it rarely (if ever) functions at its best as a one-man show.

SNL Scorecard: Did Jim Carrey Save a Lackluster Show?

There was something odd about last night’s Jim Carrey-hosted installment of SNL . Between the promos featuring Carrey hitting on Kristen Wiig, his monologue proposal and the good-nights where Carrey emotionally thanked pretty much the entire world, it felt like the episode might have been one big Jim Carrey therapy session. The last time Carrey hosted, May 18, 1996, Carrey wasn’t too far removed from being the guy walking down the street wearing an oversized cowboy hat looking for a copy of the Rhode Island Slut . Now, we have a more mature, certainly a more damaged Carrey hosting for a second time — complicated by hosting on, well, a day that, due to current events, people did not find particularly funny. How did he do? On to the scorecard…

Social Network, Kids Are All Right Get Awards Boost From NY Critics Circle

More awards! Hoo-ahhh ! This time it’s the august New York Film Critics circle doing the laurel-fitting, delivering its best-of-2010 prize to the redoubtable Social Network . Like their peers out in Los Angeles , the NYFCC also went with best director David FIncher and best actor Colin Firth; The Kids Are All Right took over from there, winning three prizes including best actress for Annette Bening. Jacki Weaver was cruelly stiffed in supporting actress once again in favor of The Fighter ‘s Melissa Leo, though Animal Kingdom did win best first feature for David Michod. So that’s nice. Who Scored Big in Week Nine of SNL’s Not-Ready-for-Prime-Time-Player Relevancy Poll?

A strange thing has happened over at 30 Rockefeller Plaza during this season of Saturday Night Live : Bill Hader has usurped Kristen Wiig as SNL ‘s go-to cast member. Oh, sure, Wiig has had her fair share of sketches this season, but it’s becoming increasingly evident that the Man Who Plays Stefon has put the show on his back. Hader wasn’t number one on the Revelancy Poll this weekend, however, but it’s a rare week when he does not appear in the top-five. For reference, this is not one of those weeks.

Saturday Night Live Scorecard: Was Paul Rudd Once Again Overshadowed by His Musical Guest?

Poor Paul Rudd. Last time he hosted SNL , his performance was overshadowed by musical guest Beyoncé (and her “Single Ladies” sketch with Justin Timberlake). This time Rudd had to compete with a Beatle. After a very slow start, the Paul Rudd-hosted edition of SNL recovered into one of the most memorable but wildly unbalanced episodes of the season. Let’s be clear: Rudd did a fine job, but this was Paul McCartney’s episode. Not only did McCartney appear in three different sketches, the former Beatle got four — four! — musical segments: Performing “Jet,” “Band on the Run,” a “Day in the Life”/”Give Peace a Chance” hybrid and “Get Back.” So, how was the rest of the show that didn’t involve McCartney singing? On to the scorecard!

Well That Was Quick: Malin Ackerman Replaces Lohan As Porno Queen Linda Lovelace

A man of his word , director Matthew Wilder announced on his Facebook page that Malin Ackerman would step in for the beleaguered and be-rehabbed Lindsay Lohan in his Linda Lovelace biopic, Inferno . You might recognize her from parts in Couples Retreat , 27 Dresses , or as Silk Spectre II in the Watchmen . Based solely on her very realistic hip-pumping in the Owlship love scene, I can only conclude that Ackerman is gonna do great as the star of Deep Throat .[ TheWrap ]

Who Scored Big in Week Six of SNL’s Not-Ready-for-Prime-Time-Player Relevancy Poll?

OK, I’ve calmed down a bit since yesterday’s scorecard . Yes, I still thought Saturday night was a train wreck (literally! Boom!) but I’ve almost been waiting for a show to come along that was so bad it would completely upend the relevancy poll. That show was this week. No more, “well, Jay Pharoah was good but he’s too underused to be number one.” Poppycock! Pharoah’s talent (and Taran Killam to a point) really shined this week when set against a backdrop that’s mostly made of sorrow. Welcome your new SNL Overlord, Jay Pharoah.
