Jimmy Iovine & Dr. Dre Sued For “Stealing” Beats Technology Looks like those amazing Christmas bonuses Dr. Dre gave his legal team are about to come in extra handy. The rapper, along with business partner Jimmy Iovine, is being sued by Monster for stealing the technology for the wildly successful Beats audio brand and leaving Monster in the dust. Via Forbes : For audio cable company Monster, the wound that Beats Electronics left is years old but still stings like a fresh stab in the back. In a lawsuit filed in San Mateo County Superior Court Tuesday, Monster CEO Noel Lee said that his company was betrayed by Beats Electronics, the company behind “Beats By Dr. Dre” headphones, when the two companies parted ways in 2012, and that Beats has gone on to try to erase Monster’s contribution to its headphones. The suit claims that rapper Andre “ Dr. Dre” Young and music mogul Jimmy Iovine conspired to steal the audio engineering that Monster built for the Beats headphones, which were a joint project. The suit alleges that Monster, not Beats, was primarily responsible for designing the headphones, and after Dre and Iovine severed ties with Monster, they tried to wipe away Monster’s role in Beats’ success. It adds that beyond Dre’s status as a celebrity, his “main contribution was to bless Monster’s headphones when he exclaimed: ‘That’s the s–t!’” While Monster was left trying to build a new product to compete with its own creation – and without the technology that Beats retained control of — Beats continued to succeed. In May, Apple AAPL -0.03% bought the company for $3 billion. Thanks to the sale, Dre walked away with an estimated $650 million before taxes in 2014, which rocketed him to the top of FORBES’ highest-earning musicians list for the year. Yikes! If this case gets proven in court, Dr. Dre might have to finally release that “Detox” album he’s been talking about for the past 15 years to make up for that $600 mil in lost cash…

Keshia Knight Pulliam of The Cosby Show fame made her debut on Celebrity Apprentice on Sunday night, and indirectly ended up getting fired because of her association with it. Specifically, its embattled patriarch, alleged serial rapist Bill Cosby. Because this show is so bad even by reality TV standards, NBC can’t even find a place for it these days, and last night’s premiere was filmed ages so. Many months before the abhorrent avalanche of Bill Cosby rape allegations, as it were, so when the contestants’ task was to raise money for a bake sale? One can understand, during a conversation about dialing up wealthy contacts, why Pulliam’s teammates might ask her to call up her former TV father. Pulliam, the project manager, awkwardly shot that down, opting instead to reach out to “people I felt can deliver the quickest.” Whatever that means. Cosby went unmentioned for the rest of the episode until Keshia’s team lost and went before Donald Trump and co-judges Ivanka Trump and Piers Morgan. Having come up short in the fundraising department, Keshia Knight Pulliam’s team looked squarely at her, and Trump took her to task over not calling Cosby. “Did you call Bill?” Trump asked Pulliam. “I did not,” Pulliam said through tears (again, before the Bill Cosby rape scandal ). “I have not talked to Bill Cosby on the phone in I don’t know how long.” “So for me to pick up the phone, having not talked to you for five years, except for when we run into each other for a Cosby event … I feel that’s not my place to do.” Trump would ultimately fire her, saying, “I really believe, if you’d called that gentleman, he would’ve helped you, even if you hadn’t spoken to him in years.” “Because you were an amazing team with one of the most successful shows ever. So I think it would’ve been a very good call to make for charity.” “But you have to take responsibility.” “I think you agree with that.” Celebrity Apprentice Cast Photos: Who’s In? 1. Kate Gosselin Kate Gosselin as a cast member of Celebrity Apprentice?!? We NEVER could have seen this coming! The amazing part is that the show made no mention of the fact that this was filmed a year ago (or close to it) or edit down this scene in any real way. A scene in which a female acquaintance of Bill Cosby’s gets fired from a “job” by a boorish boss because she didn’t beg Bill Cosby to help climb the ladder? You can’t make this stuff up. Granted, you can’t make up the fact that this show is even still on, or that Kate Gosselin is starring on it, but you see our point. It was as baffling as it gets. What do you think?
