Brad Pitt Calls Jennifer Aniston ‘A Dear Friend’

‘I can’t say something nice about Angie without Jen being drug in,’ he tells ‘Today’ about his recent Parade interview. By Jocelyn Vena Brad Pitt and Matt Lauer on the “Today” show Photo: NBC News Brad Pitt can’t seem to escape talking about his Jennifer Aniston comments in Parade. In an interview with the “Today” show airing Thursday, the “Moneyball” star once again went on the defensive. “I don’t know what was pieced together or put together. All I know is that my point was, the best thing I’d done as a father is be sure that my kids have a good mother,” Pitt tells Matt Lauer in the interview. “That’s all I was, or am, trying to say. It has no reference to the past. And I think it’s a shame that I can’t say something nice about Angie without Jen being drug in. You know, she doesn’t deserve it.” Pitt was quoted by Parade as saying, “I wasn’t living an interesting life myself. I think that my marriage had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn’t.” He later released a statement to clarify those comments, writing, “It grieves me that this was interpreted this way.” The latter sentiment is mirrored in his interview with “Today.” “I don’t want them to say anything bad like that about Jen. She’s a dear friend of mine,” he said, adding that Aniston has not reached out to him about the Parade interview. During the chat, Pitt also got the chance to open up about the Oscar buzz around “Moneyball.” “It remains a great piece of material for me that I got to take on. And we’re all — it’s too early to talk about all that other stuff,” Pitt said. “It’s all good fun if your number comes up, and it’s even more fun when your friend’s number comes up.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Moneyball.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Brad Pitt on Jennifer Aniston Comment: Pure Spin!

Brad Pitt is in full-fledged movie promotion mode, but still finds himself fielding questions about his personal life – specifically select comments he made last week regarding his pretend marriage to Jennifer Aniston . “That was never my intention for it to be spun that way,” he said of those who interpreted his remarks that way, insisting it wasn’t what he meant. “People read things into it that just weren’t there.” Saying he once used film to fill a void in his life, Pitt told Parade last week: “It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn’t living an interesting life myself.” “I think that my marriage had something to do with it,” he says, noting that he was “trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn’t.” While we certainly don’t think Brad meant to overtly slam Jen, it’s also easy to understand how someone could interpret it as such. Tough one. However he may have meant it, there’s no arguing that critics and fans are eagerly anticipating his new film Moneyball , opening this weekend. [Photo: WENN.com]

Brad Pitt Says Jen Aniston ‘Interesting’ Comments Were Misinterpreted

Actor explains his Parade quote about not ‘living an interesting life’ during marriage. By Jocelyn Vena Brad Pitt Photo: Michael Tran/ Getty Images Brad Pitt made headlines this week when he opened up to Parade magazine about his ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston. “It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn’t living an interesting life myself,” Pitt said about the tail-end of his marriage to Aniston, which lasted from 2000 to 2005. “I think that my marriage had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn’t.” He also lamented that he spent much of the ’90s “trying to hide out,” adding, “I started to get sick of myself sitting on a couch, holding a joint, hiding out.” But following the story’s publication on the Web, according to Reuters, Pitt issued a statement lamenting that people are taking his quotes the wrong way. “It grieves me that this was interpreted this way. Jen is an incredibly giving, loving, and hilarious woman who remains my friend. It is an important relationship I value greatly,” he explained in the statement released through his talent agency. “The point I was trying to make is not that Jen was dull, but that I was becoming dull to myself — and that, I am responsible for.” Aniston and Pitt divorced in 2005, after he began dating his “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” co-star Angelina Jolie, with whom he now has six kids. While he may have come off as critical of his ex, Pitt does say very favorable things about his current partner in the Parade story. “I’m satisfied with making true choices and finding the woman I love, Angie, and building a family that I love so much. A family is a risky venture, because the greater the love, the greater the loss,” he said. “That’s the trade-off. But I’ll take it all. … One of the greatest, smartest things I ever did was give my kids Angie as their mom. She is such a great mom. Oh, man, I’m so happy to have her.” Pitt is currently making the rounds promoting his film “Moneyball” and spoke to MTV News at the Toronto Film Festival, where he remained more tight-lipped about whether he has a cameo in Jolie’s directorial debut, “In the Land of Blood and Honey.” “I will say nothing,” he declared. “Nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing.” Related Photos The Evolution Of: Brad Pitt The Many Looks, Movies And Girlfriends Of Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt Praises Jennifer Aniston, Clarifies "Pretend Marriage" Comments

In a new interview with Parade , Brad Pitt briefly discusses his failed marriage to Jennifer Aniston, with one quote in particular raising eyebrows. Saying he tried to use movies to fill a void in his personal existence, Pitt says “It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn’t living an interesting life myself.” Ouch. And it gets worse: “I think that my marriage had something to do with it,” he says, noting that he was “trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn’t.” He adds that nowadays, “I’m satisfied with making true choices and finding the woman I love, Angie, and building a family that I love so much.” If that sounded harsh to you, get in line. Brad’s also in that line, contacting E! News through his rep to explain that he didn’t mean it like that. “It grieves me that this was interpreted this way,” he says, “Jen is an incredibly giving, loving, and hilarious woman who remains my friend.” “It is an important relationship I value greatly. The point I was trying to make is not that Jen was dull, but that I was becoming dull to myself.” “That, only I am responsible for.” Pitt is one of the most private and least malicious guys around, one we can’t see taking a cheap shot like that, so we’re inclined to believe him. Think Jen agrees? Do you? [Photo: WENN.com]

How To Handle Your Friend-In-Laws

More here:

Marriage is a commitment, and not only to your spouse. In addition to marrying your one true love, you’re also marrying their family and their friends. And, while a man’s relationship with his mother-in-law and/or father-in-law can vary from BFFs to bitter enemies, you have to get along with them. They’re family! The trickier situation is often the spouse’s friends, or, as I like to call them, “friend-in-laws.” Now, if you and your significant other share all the same friends, and everyone can sit together and sing “Kum Ba Ya” without killing each other (or the use of alcohol), then great. However, more often than not there is that one friend that is just a worthless waste of human existence (at least in your eyes) that your wife or husband hearts. Whether she’s the cackling sistah girl who didn’t think you were worth shit to begin with or that “big brother” guy pal YOU know always wanted to be more than that, these are people you will have to deal with, right? I mean, they have been friends forever. They have passed out on your couch. They were in your wedding. And, if you’ve married this woman or man, you on some level have accepted them as “friends”…right? If you’re not sure, here are 5 types of friend-in-laws and my advice about how to best handle them: The know-it-all sistahgirl . Hook her up with one of your “good guy” friends (see below). Just make sure that he doesn’t screw her over. It will be more trouble than it’s worth. The space cadet . The chick who just seems late…to life. Have patience. She is usually also really hot, so it makes her a little more tolerable. If you’re not patient (and she is cute), kill her with kindness. Your wife will likely get really jealous and she will disappear. The snob . Ignore her. Snobs hate that shit. The wet blanket . She is sometimes No. 1 as well, but more often than not she is afraid…to do anything. The good guy . That male best friend that used to listen to all her problems. There’s no easy way around this one. You just have to grin and bear it. Sorry. And, if all else fails, just call in your dumbass friends that she hates. Yes, believe it or not, you have at least one… Yup, that one. Could A Man’s Single Friend Have A Negative Effect On A Committed Relationship? 5 Ways To Keep Your Man From Cheating
