J.R. Martinez on Dancing With the Stars: Waltzing and Jiving to Perfection

Last night’s Dancing With the Stars was the J.R. Martinez show. He had two chances to redeem himself from an off-week last Monday and boy did he deliver. If this continues, everyone else is dancing for second place. Martinez scored, not one but two, perfect 30s – first for his waltz, then for his instant jive with Karina Smirnoff – the first dancer to do so in Season 13. J.R. Martinez on Dancing With the Stars (Week 8 – Waltz) “It was like a musical Valentine card,” DWTS judge Bruno Tonioli said. “You dance with your heart on your sleeve. Totally involved, totally dedicated.” “This is a war on the floor,” Len Goodman added. “Each week is a battle. Last week you retreated a bit, but, like the soldier you are you came back, guns blazing.” The Iraq War vet, soap opera actor and motivational speaker certainly has the inspiring story, fan support and dance moves to take home the Mirror Ball. Can J.R. Martinez be stopped? We’ll find out in the coming weeks, but it looks like the title could he his to lose. Watch his instant jive after the jump: J.R. Miley Cyrus Takes Another Twitter Break

Miley Cyrus wants her fans to know something: it’s not you. It’s me. The superstar is taking another break from Twitter, though she isn’t going to the extreme lengths she went to in 2009 and axing her account . So, what’s going on? Why the relative silence since sending out the Halloween photo below? “Sorry I havent been tweeting as much!” Cyrus wrote on Friday. “I deleted the twitter ap off of my phone. Just taking some “ME” time! =] love yall.” Miley has suffered through a love/hate relationship with the social network over the years, once telling followers she would no longer be using it because boyfriend Liam Hemsworth made the request. But then she returned, explaining: “I’m not gonna lie. I came back to twitter for 2 reasons. My fans and to follow @charliesheen #winning.” The latest move actually seems symbolic of Miley’s new maturity, though. It’s a healthy sign when someone realizes that not every thought and emotion is meant to be shared with the world . Yes, Kim Kardashian , even if this means you make a few million less each year.

Conrad Murray Found Guilty In Michael Jackson’s Death

Jury took nearly nine hours to return a verdict against Jackson’s former doctor. By Gil Kaufman Michael Jackson Photo: Getty Images After nearly six weeks of testimony and several gasp-inducing courtroom moments, the jury in the involuntary manslaughter trial against former Michael Jackson doctor Conrad Murray rendered a guilty verdict Monday (November 7) after almost nine hours of deliberation. The verdict came after 49 witnesses took the stand and the prosecution presented often-bruising testimony against Murray, a cardiologist with clinics in Texas and Las Vegas who was recruited in 2009 by Jackson to help the then-50-year-old star stay healthy in the run-up to his planned 50-date comeback tour, This Is It . The prosecution brought a long list of medical experts and emergency-room doctors to the stand to testify that Murray had not followed proper procedure in dealing with Jackson when the singer was in distress on the morning of June 25, 2009. They also presented evidence that the care Murray provided for Jackson in the weeks and months leading up to that fateful morning were substandard or outside the bounds of legal and ethical requirements. The witnesses concluded that Murray lacked the proper monitoring equipment to administer the surgical anesthetic propofol to Jackson, an off-label use of the intravenously delivered drug that was reportedly employed to help chronic insomniac Jackson get to sleep. Investigators found that Murray ordered nearly 4 gallons of propofol in his treatment regimen for Jackson and administered the drug inside the singer’s rented home, a practice that all the prosecution experts said was unheard of. Jurors also heard testimony about how Murray left Jackson’s bedroom for a period after providing him with propofol and spent his time making calls and sending texts to a former girlfriend. When he realized Jackson was in distress, Murray gave the pop star CPR on a bed, a decision that also deviated from the suggested method requiring a hard surface under the patient. Murray was additionally faulted for waiting more than 20 minutes to call 911, not keeping proper records and failing to tell the paramedics and ER doctors that he had given Jackson propofol. While prosecution witnesses claimed Murray acted with “gross negligence” in treating Jackson, the physician’s own team of lawyers countered with a string of defense witnesses who called into question claims made by Jackson’s bodyguard that he requested that staffers hide bottles of propofol before he dialed 911. Other character witnesses testified to the generous, attentive nature of Murray’s medical practice, while expert defense witnesses cast doubt on the theories about Jackson’s death provided by the prosecution’s star witness, Dr. Steven Shafer . Murray, who was slated to make $150,000 a month to care for Jackson, had pleaded not guilty to the single felony charge and is now facing four years in prison. But new sentencing laws in California aimed at mandatorily reducing state prison overcrowding mean that, as a nonviolent offender with no prior record, he is likely to be sentenced to county jail instead. If that is the case, his sentence could be reduced further. He also still faces a civil lawsuit brought by MJ’s father, Joseph Jackson , which seeks financial restitution. Both Joseph Jackson and Michael’s mother, Katherine, were on hand to hear Monday’s verdict, along with several of the singer’s siblings and a throng of sign-waving fans gathered in support of both Jackson and Murray. Demi Moore Described as Skinny, But Happy

Demi Moore is looking REAL skinny these days, but she’s also looking happier than you might think, according to people who saw her at a recent shindig. Maybe reports of her marital struggles have been exaggerated. Maybe Mariah Yeater has replaced Sara Leal as celebrity gold-digging skank du jour. Whatever the reason, Moore was all smiles at Friday’s A-list-packed Lanvin (Hearts) LA fashion show and dinner at Casa Carondelet in Los Angeles. Supposedly reeeling after husband Ashton Kutcher’s alleged affair with 22-year-old Sara Leal , the actress, 48, “looked skinny but happy” at the intimate event. The Margin Call actress was “very chatty” with fellow celebs at the party, adds the witness : “Demi came across the runway to kiss and say hi to Katie Holmes.” Later in the evening, Zoe Saldana made a similar trip across the runway to kiss and greet Moore, who also chatted with Lanvin’s designer, Alber Elbaz. “The whole vibe was super friendly and relaxed,” adds the witness. Moore wore “nerdy glasses, but [she] looked amazing. She stayed for the whole dinner.” Close pals say Moore – who is also accused of cheating – has had good days and bad days in her marriage lately, but all has been relatively quiet of late. Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito: It’s Over!

Despite having their murder convictions overturned and their freedom restored, Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito say their relationship can never be repaired. “It’s all over between us,” an emotional Sollecito said during an interview, according to the Daily Mail . “I still have a great affection towards her but nothing else.” According to Raffaele Sollecito , their romance in Perugia, Italy, abruptly ended when they were convicted of murdering her roommate, Meredith Kercher, in 2007. That will typically do it. The pair subsequently spent four years in prison before the guilty verdicts were overturned last month. Don’t hold your breath for a reconciliation, though. “Our love was like a seed that was not allowed to grow because it was brutally stamped on,” Sollecito said. “We were both victims of a cruel injustice.” “Our relationship was overcome by this tragedy.” Amid reports that Knox, 24, has a new boyfriend, Sollecito also said he has thus far declined an offer from Knox’s family to stay with them in Seattle. “I just want to build up my life as it was before and it will have to be piece by piece,” he said. “She has suffered like me and now I just want her to be happiest woman in the world. Our lives are linked by circumstances but are very different.”

Dr. Conrad Murray Verdict: GUILTY of Manslaughter

The jury has returned a verdict of in the Dr. Conrad Murray manslaughter trial. Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the 2009 death of Michael Jackson. After less than two days of deliberation, the jury reached a verdict for the man who worked as MJ’s personal physician leading up to his ill-fated This Is It tour. The panel buzzed the L.A. Superior Courtroom three times from the deliberation room this morning, signaling it had made a decision after the six-week trial. The verdict was just announced, and Murray was found guilty . In the six-week trial, prosecutors hammed home the argument that Murray recklessly administered a lethal dose of the powerful anesthesia Propofol to MJ. Moreover, they painted a picture of a man concerned for his own well being instead of his patient, and said all of Murray’s decisions led to Jackson’s death . Also, his self-described timeline of events simply did not add up. His defense attorneys claimed that Michael Jackson was in the midst of an irreversible downward spiral of addiction, and accidentally gave himself a fatal dose. That always felt like a stretch, but they had to argue something. He will be sentenced November 29 and faces up to four years in prison. It looks as if Dr. Murray will be remanded into custody and denied bail until that date. UPDATE: We’ve posted video of the reading of the verdict below. After the verdict was read aloud, you can hear La Toya Jackson and Kathy Hilton (Paris’ mom, and a family friend) cry out, before they are quickly shushed: Dr. Conrad Murray Verdict Reading Dr. Conrad Murray guilty verdict: Did the jury get it right?

Michael Jackson’s Family Reacts To Guilty Verdict

‘Even though nothing can bring back our son, justice has finally been served!’ family says in a statement to TMZ. By Andrea Duncan-Mao LaToya Jackson outside Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday Photo: Toby Canham/Getty Images Seventeen members of Michael Jackson ‘s family — including his parents, brothers Jermaine and Randy and sister LaToya — were on hand Monday (November 7) in the Los Angeles courtroom when a guilty verdict was read in the involuntary manslaughter case against Jackson’s former physician, Dr. Conrad Murray . While the audible gasp heard when the verdict was read was reportedly that of Kathy Hilton — a close Jackson family friend and mom to Paris and Nicky Hilton — the family remained stoic during the proceedings and did not hold a formal press conference afterward. Upon exiting the courthouse, Jackson’s mother, Katherine, told local news cameras, “Justice was served. I want to thank the jury for doing the right thing,” while brother Randy said he was “ecstatic,” and Jermaine said the verdict felt “wonderful.” Latoya, wearing a black and gold jacket reminiscent of something her late brother would wear, waved her arms at the crowd in celebration and also tweeted: “VICTORY.” TMZ reported that the family later released a statement, reading, “We have been waiting for this moment for a very long time and we couldn’t hold back tears of joy in the courtroom. Even though nothing can bring back our son, justice has finally been served! We can’t wait to go home and share this day with Michael’s children.” Dr. Murray was found guilty on one count of involuntary manslaughter and faces up to four years in jail and the loss of his medical license.
