Eff A Music Robbin’ Thug Politician: Money Mitt Hit With Cease And Desist Over Unauthorized Use Of Song For Campaign

Yeah we said it ! According to TMZ reports : ‘Good ‘ole Mitt’ just got slapped with a cease and desist order from the band Silversun Pickups. Seems Mitt’s a thief (still waitin’ on those taxes homie) and didn’t get permission from the group before blastin’ it during his campaign trail. The song in question, “Panic Switch,” is also a contradiction to Romney’s entire platform. According to the band’s frontman Brian Aubert, Romney has been using their 2009 hit … even though no one ever asked them for permission, but it’s pretty clear he wouldn’t have gotten it even if he asked. Aubert says, “We don’t like people going behind our backs, using our music without asking, and we don’t like the Romney campaign. We’re nice, approachable people. We won’t bite. Unless you’re Mitt Romney!” TMZ obtained a copy of the cease and desist, in which the band points out this also happened in 2008 … when Sen. John McCain was sued by Jackson Browne for using “Running on Empty” without permission. According to the letter, Republicans promised to “respect and uphold the rights of artists and to obtain permissions” after that debacle. Aubert also says Romney’s a victim of irony … because “he is inadvertently playing a song that describes his whole campaign.” Gotta love intelligent artists who know their rights and aren’t afraid to tell Mitt where to stick it! Mitt Romney Introduces Paul Ryan as "The Next President of the United States"

Mitt Romney picked Paul Ryan for Vice President this morning, and apparently thinks very highly of him, as Paul received a promotion within five minutes! Okay, not really, but in introducing the Wisconsin Congressman and rising GOP star to a Norfolk, Va., crowd, Romney finished his remarks with a gaffe: “Join me in welcoming the next President of the United States, Paul Ryan!”

Carson Kressley, Sabrina Bryan or Kyle Massey: Who Should Join Dancing With the Stars All-Stars?

Carson Kressley, Sabrina Bryan and Kyle Massey are presently vying for the 13th and final spot on the Dancing With the Stars All-Stars cast . The winner, determined by fan voting on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars official site, will be announced Monday, August 27 as the last All-Star. The trio appeared on GMA this week to stump (and dance) for votes. The three contenders did some good-natured campaigning, as well as move-busting, as they vie for the spot on the show’s first-ever All-Star season. Pamela Anderson, Emmitt Smith, Kelly Monaco, Shawn Johnson, Melissa Rycroft, Kirstie Alley, Joey Fatone, Drew Lachey, Gilles Marini, Apolo Ohno, Bristol Palin and Helio Castroneves are already on board for the fall. Bristol and Kyle, of course, were rumored to be dating, and he claims Lifetime stole his idea for Bristol’s reality show … so that could be awkward. Who do you think the 13th cast member should be?

Mitt Romney ‘Wimp’ Newsweek Cover: On Point or Over the Line?

Newsweek, which raised more than a few eyebrows this year for its covers proclaiming President Obama the first gay president and for calling his critics dumb, is out with yet another controversial political cover story. This time, they call Mitt Romney a “wimp” in no uncertain terms. “Romney is the genuine article: a true wimp,” Michael Tomasky argues in his cover story, adding that “In some respects, he’s more weenie than wimp.” “Socially inept; often awkwardly ingratiating, at times mocking those ‘below’ him, but almost always getting the situation a little wrong, and never in a sympathetic way.” Romney said the story didn’t bother him though, telling CBS News that “They tried that on George Herbert Walker Bush; he was a pretty great President.” Mitt’s right, as seen in the 1987 issue pictured below (along with a couple of awesome spoofs we saw on the Romney issue for good measure). Calling Romney a wimp is probably a little much, but the cover and story underscore what a lot of his critics say makes him a weak candidate. Namely, that he’s a paper-pushing corporate technocrat devoid of personality and unable to relate to regular people, and who has no core beliefs. His supporters will vocally dispute this and laud his achievements and positive traits, of course … while others may accept it and vote for him anyway. What do you think: Is Mitt Romney a wimp?

POLL: Should Mitt Romney Release More Tax Returns?

It’s an issue Democrats will not let go of, and one even many Republicans now believe must be addressed: Mitt Romney has released tax returns from 2010 and 2011. But he has so far refused to delve further into his past, raising questions about what sort of loopholes or offshore accounts the Presidential candidate is hiding. “We’ve given all people need to know and understand about our financial situation and about how we live our life,” Ann Romney said today on Good Morning America. But even prominent conservatives such as Haley Barbour think Romney ought be more forthright, and a USA Today survey of 539 adults show one-third of Republicans agree . It hasn’t been the best week for Romney. He was booed during an NAACP after making a comment about Obamacare . Where do you stand on the tax return issue? Should Romney release more documents?

Mitt Romney’s ‘Bane’ Problem, and Ours

Good morning! By which I mean just go back to bed : “‘Bane’ is the terrorist in the new movie who drives the caped crusader out of semi-retirement in the final Batman movie . Democrats, who believe they have Romney on the ropes over the president’s assault on his leadership at Bain Capital, said the comparisons are too rich to ignore. ‘It has been observed that movies can reflect the national mood,’ said Democratic advisor and former Clinton aide Christopher Lehane. ‘Whether it is spelled Bain and being put out by the Obama campaign or Bane and being out by Hollywood, the narratives are similar: a highly intelligent villain with offshore interests and a past both are seeking to cover up who had a powerful father and is set on pillaging society,’ he added.” [ Washington Examiner via Big Hollywood ]
