Bow Wow has been going through it for most of 2011. First, it was the discovery of a secret baby. Then, he had to deal with rumors he had been dropped from Cash Money Records . Now that he’s weathered those storms, he is back to recording music. The rapper formerly known as Lil Bow Wow recently dropped a video for a song called, “Don’t Worry About Me.” The song comes straight from his heart as he airs out his sisters for talking about him and trying to put their family problems in public view. There is no word if this will appear on his Cash Money debut, Underrated . We will keep you posted on any new developments in the career of Shad Moss. Props to VladTv . RELATED POSTS: Bow Wow Ft. ‘I ain’t just trying to take advantage of somebody just because they hot right now,’ MC says on ‘RapFix Live.’ By Rob Markman Glasses Malone Photo: MTV News As an artist on Cash Money Records, Glasses Malone has access to some major hitmakers. But the California MC is not quick to take advantage of his multiplatinum labelmates. Instead, Glasses — who just dropped his solo debut album, Beach Cruiser, in August — said he would rather build organic collaborations. “I have access to everybody. Just to me, our topics be so different,” Glasses told MTV News’ Sway Calloway during his visit to “RapFix Live” on Wednesday. “Me and Birdman got a lot of songs, me and Wayne got a lot of songs, me and Mack 10 have a lot of songs because our content are more relatable. Drake is really successful, and as an artist, it seems every artist wants to get with somebody that’s successful, but I don’t look at hip-hop like that. “I ain’t just trying to take advantage of somebody just because they hot right now,” he continued. “I want to make great music, I want to make great songs, and right now, me and Drake’s subject matter is so far apart: His subject matters tend to deal with more relationships, his success and dealing with his fame in the music industry.” Glasses, on the other hand, makes music that addresses the issues on the California streets where he was raised. On Beach Cruiser, he recruited the likes of Rick Ross, Jay Rock and Nipsey Hussle, instead of more-certified hitmakers such as Drake and Nicki Minaj. Malone refuses to get caught up in gossip. When he first emerged on the rap scene, it was Game who gave him the co-sign, but eventually their deal soured. Malone made it clear on “RapFix Live” that he harbors no ill will toward the Compton MC. “I don’t think it’s much of a rivalry; I think everybody painted it like that,” Glasses said. “It could never be a rivalry: Dude put me in position, him and [his brother] Fase put me in position to be where I am today,” he explained. “I don’t got nothing to say bad about that dude or nothing about that situation because without them … I’d still be slinging PCP on 117th.” Who would you like to hear Glasses collaborate with? When Lil Wayne sold a million units of “Tha Carter III” in 2008, the number was impressive but not shocking. Weezy was on fire, and songs like “A Milli” and “Lollipop” made the album highly anticipated. The sales of CDs have been on a steady decline as digital music has gained popularity. As a result, many of music’s biggest stars have a hard time selling 1 million CDs during the promotional run of the project. So for anyone to sell that many copies in a week beyond huge. Lil Wayne’s follow up “Tha Carter IV” was released digitally after the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards aired on August 28th (the night he rocked leopard print jeggings), and it sold 362,000 copies. Plus, it broke iTunes’ record for the most album sales in a single week, dethroning Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “Watch The Throne” after only three weeks. “Tha Carter IV” was forecast to sell about 850,000 digital and physical copies combined, but Lil Wayne beat that number easily by selling 964,000 in CDs alone, according to Billboard.com . (Digital and CD sales combined bring “Tha Carter IV” to over 1.3 million units sold in one week.) Did Lil Wayne actually sell that many copies? He’s not as hot now as he was when he sold 1.1 million copies of “Tha Carter III” in one week back in 2008. “How To Love” and “She Will” are number 7 and 17, respectively on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, but their buzz doesn’t match the heat “A Milli” and “Lollipop” generated. Did Cash Money Records, the label Lil Wayne’s signed to, purchase copies to boost the record sales so Weezy could have the bragging rights of selling over a million units in one week twice? Or did Weezy really do what seemed like the impossible? Cash Money CEO Birdman denies this rumor during an interview with Sway on his Shade 45 morning show by stating, “That’s hustling backwards; we ain’t in it for that.” We want to know what you think. Did Lil Wayne’s team help him by buying up copies of “Tha Carter IV” or not? Let us know what you think in the comments section below!
