Too $hort And Bow Wow To Check In With ‘RapFix Live’

2 Chainz will also be in the mix Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com. By Rob Markman Bow Wow Photo: Jerritt Clark/ Getty Images “RapFix Live” is about to put you on to game. Oakland, California, rap veteran Too $hort will appear on Wednesday’s show and chop it up with host Sway about his come-up in the 1980s, his upcoming No Trespassing album (his 19th solo LP!) and everything in between. Cash Money’s Bow Wow will also stop by to talk about his own career evolution. The now 24-year old rapper got his start in 2000 at the age of 13. Since then, the Ohio rap representative has grown from kiddie rapper to full-grown MC and amassed a gang of hits along the way. His upcoming album Underrated will mark Bow’s first release on Cash Money Records since signing with the powerhouse label in 2009. Speaking of power moves, 2 Chainz will also appear on Wednesday’s show to make a very special announcement concerning the next phase of his career. The Atlanta rap phenom made a name for himself as one-half of Playaz Circle, the group known best for their 2007 rap hit “Duffle Bag Boy” with Lil Wayne. He went by the name Tity Boy back then, but after a name change and a string of underground bangers, 2 Chainz has built a deafening buzz. His latest single, “Spend It,” spread like wildfire and has recently spawned an official remix and music video with T.I. Catch Too $hort, Bow Wow and 2 Chainz on “RapFix Live” Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com, and be sure to join the Twitter conversation using the hashtag #RapFixLive. The creators of the movie managed to get reactions from many people in attendance including Jacqueline Blaylock, the director of programming for the festival. While some in attendance, believed the movie went too far and was too harsh on hip-hop culture, renowned blogger Jackie Jasper of Diary Of A Hollywood Street King appreciated the movie’s satire and parody of negativity in rap music and gave the movie two thumbs up. Drake Helps Lil Twist Overcome Stress Of Album Delays

‘Drake went through everything as far as being a new artist and on the same label,’ Twist says of his Young Money comrade. By Rob Markman Lil Twist Photo: MTV News Celebrity Favorites: Lil Twist Putting out a debut album has to be stressful, especially when faced with continual delays, but lucky for Lil Twist he has had the right people in his corner. “I talked to my mom mostly, and then Wayne,” Twist told Mixtape Daily about who he sought advice from each time his Don’t Get It Twisted album got pushed back. “Wayne and [Young Money president] Mack [Maine] are like my brothers, and Drake also. Drake is always a good person to give advice.” Twisted was originally slated for a 2011 release and has already produced a number of notable singles, including “Love Affair” with Lil Wayne and “Turnt Up” with Busta Rhymes. Now, the LP has a March 20 release date, which, to Twist, appears to be rock solid. 2 Chainz and Twist’s buddy Justin Bieber are also expected to appear. “We’re getting ready to drop that record ‘Wherever You Are.’ Y’all will have that real soon,” Twist told MTV News of the high-powered collaboration. “It’s a fun record. Justin killed it. He’s, like, rap-singing on it; another different sound for Justin.” Don’t Get It Twisted has been complete for some time, but Twist simply had to wait things out. “Drake went through everything as far as being a new artist and on the same label, seeing how everything went down,” he said of his Young money labelmate. “So he was just letting me know what was going to go down, how I need to go about it and just how to overcome the stress that I was feeling coming out with this album.” Are you ready for Lil Twist’s Don’t Get It Twisted ? Drake’s Producer Denies Competition With Kanye West

‘I look up to that guy like crazy,’ Noah ’40’ Shebib says of Kanye. By Steven Roberts Kanye West Photo: Getty Images It’s common knowledge that Common and Drake aren’t exactly best of friends right now. But their camps haven’t been seeing eye to eye for quite some time. Pusha T appears to be taking shots at Drake on his recent “Sweet” and “Don’t F— with Me” freestyles, all over the beats of Common ‘s “Sweet” and Drake’s “Dreams Money Can Buy.” Lil Wayne and Jay-Z have been exchanging competitive subliminal shots for a while now, but those shots delivered last year on The Throne’s “H.A.M” and Wayne’s “It’s Good” were probably the most talked about. Kanye West and Drake even seem to be taking jabs at each other, first on DJ Khaled’s “I’m On One,” (I’m just feelin’ like The Throne is for the takin’/ Watch me take it) and then The Throne’s “Otis” (I adopted these n—as/ Philip Drummond them/ Now, I’m about to make them tuck they whole summer in). Despite all of this, when MTV News caught up Drake’s producer, Noah “40” Shebib, in Toronto early last month, he said that there was no competition with Kanye. In the August/September 2010 issue of Vibe , 40 said that ‘Ye cursed him out for “borrowing” his sound. But even then, the producer maintained that there was no competition and said that West was a huge influence on him. “I look up to that guy like crazy. I always have and I always will,” 40 said. “That’s someone who’s carved out a sound for rap music a couple of times, who has really influenced and changed the game as an individual. It would be crazy to say there’s competition.” He added that people should understand the difference between stealing another artist’s style and being influenced by him. “You’re supposed to be a hybrid. When you got T.I. and Nas and Jay-Z and Wayne and Kanye and Eminem, all these different types of rappers from different places and so on and so forth, I would expect a couple of years after that a new rapper would comes out who incorporates all of those people. Because that’s the evolution of it and that’s what will always happen, so I don’t even look at it as like biting or stealing or this or that,” 40 said. “I’m grateful to any and everybody that’s ever influenced me, including Mr. West.” All week, we’ll bring you highlights from our candid interview with Drake producer Noah “40” Shebib . Be sure to keep it locked here as 40 talks Take Care and his thoughts on everything from working with Lil Wayne to Drizzy’s next single with Rihanna. Bishop Eddie Long Returns To New Birth

Read this article:

Bishop Eddie Long is back on duty already. After announcing that he was taking a leave from heading New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, Long’s appearance at the Watch Night Service at New Birth seemed to mark his formal return. After a month-long absence, Long first appeared on New Year’s Eve preaching from his pulpit with his usual fiery style, saying: 2012 is here! Shake off the remorse, shake off the depression, shake off the financial burden, start using your hands again and reconstructing! God is more about your future than he was about your past. I’m still your pastor. You’ll still receive my direction. You’ve given me some weeks to take care of some family business. As we previously reported, Long’s wife, Vanessa Long, wife filed for divorce last month. Last fall four young men accused Eddie Long of sexual abuse. Although Long vowed to fight the charges, he later settled the matter out of court for an undisclosed sum of money. It was later revealed that a fifth man, Centino Kemp, also received settlement money. RELATED: New Birth Christian Academy To Close Eddie Long Protestors Nearly Run Over By Long’s Supporters!
