Tom Cruise to Robert Pattinson: Don’t Effin Change!

In 2008, Tom Cruise tried to become a box office star again by starring in a drama ( Valkyrie ) based around Hitler and the Nazis. Bad idea. A couple years later, the slightly insane movie star has come up with a far more effective plan: appear in a MTV Movie Awards promo with Robert Pattinson. In the hilarious video below, Cruise takes on the persona of Len Grossman, the foul-mouthed Hollywood producer he portrayed in Tropic Thunder . When the Twilight Saga stud informs Grossman that he might actually wash hair for the MTV event, Grossman goes off on him, screaming: “Your filthy hair made you a star! Your filthy hair sent my fat-*ss kid to Space Camp four times!” It’s great stuff. Watch now: MTV Movie Awards Promo The MTV Movie Awards will air on June 6. Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner will all present at the ceremony. They’ll also show a new clip from Eclipse .

Les Grossman Gives ‘Twilight’ Star Robert Pattinson Some Unlikely Grooming Tips

Hear what the ‘Tropic Thunder’ movie exec advised RPattz to do to his ‘filthy hair’ before the 2010 MTV Movie Awards. By Kara Warner Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart onstage during the 2009 MTV Movie Awards Photo: Jeff Kravitz/ FilmMagic Doing his part to add more VIP cred to the upcoming , movie exec Les Grossman — last seen shaking his moneymaker in “Tropic Thunder” — recently took out of his busy schedule to offer “Twilight” heartthrob Robert Pattinson a few grooming tips before the big show, which airs live June 6. In a new promo, the Hollywood producer and his young actor, Grossman told Pattinson (bluntly and spewing profanities) that the awards show is lucky to have him: “MTV is sportin’ mad wood that you’re doing the show.” Pattinson, looking a little startled and uncomfortable, admitted to Grossman that he’s been thinking about cleaning himself up a bit for this year’s awards show. “Maybe [I’ll] get a suit, have a shave. Maybe [I’ll] wash my hair,” RPattz responds. “I love it,” Grossman says sweetly, before raising his voice and launching into a tirade. “In fact, I love it so much I’m going to fly Vidal f—-ing Sassoon here to personally give you a Brazilian blow-out! And when he’s done, I’ll give you the number of a good plumber because you just flushed your f—-ing career down the toilet! “Your filthy hair made you a star,” Grossman reminds Pattinson. “Your filthy hair made me hundreds of millions of dollars and, he adds, pausing for dramatic effect, “sent my fat a– kid to space camp four times. He manages to calm down long enough to ask Pattinson a question: “What kind of shampoo are you going to use?” “Dirt?” Pattinson offers nervously. Grossman, satisfied with his star’s response, reaches out for a fist bump. “That’s my dirty dog. Playa,” he smiles. Watch out for more of Len Grossman’s words of wisdom this week. Don’t miss the 2010 MTV Movie Awards , airing live from Los Angeles on Sunday, June 6, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Related Photos A History Of ‘Twilight’ At The MTV Movie Awards

MTV Movie Awards Reveal That Hurt Locker is a Complicated Bieber Fever Metaphor

The MTV Movie Awards are more known for categories like “Best Kiss,” “Most Desirable Female,” and the prestigious “Let’s-Give-Jim Carrey-An-Award-Since-It’s-An-Even-Numbered-Year Award” than for honoring movies of real prestige, but a new promo with host Aziz Ansari, Jeremy Renner in Hurt Locker fatigues, and Justin Bieber suggests the ceremony wants to turn around its rep and award critically acclaimed gems. There’s just one problem: The Hurt Locker isn’t nominated for any MTV Movie Awards. Oh well. Look at little Bieber flashing some stink-eye!

Christina Aguilera Tears Up ‘You Lost Me’ On ‘American Idol’ Finale

Aguilera will perform at 2010 MTV Movie Awards on June 6. By James Montgomery Christina Aguilera performs on “American Idol” on Wednesday Photo: Fox Christina Aguilera may have taken a few years off to raise her son , but the singer proved she’s back in a big way on the “American Idol” finale Wednesday night (May 26). The singer — who will perform at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards on June 6 — tore into a stirring, soulful version of “You Lost Me,” a track from her forthcoming Bionic LP , that proved, if there were any doubt, that she’s got one of the best voices in the business. Aguilera took the stage after this season’s female contestants — Lacey Brown, Didi Benami, Katie Stevens, Siobhan Magnus and Crystal Bowersox — performed a medley of her hits “Beautiful” and “Fighter,” emerging from below the stage to help put the finishing flourishes on the latter, then, as the stage went dark, stepping out into a spotlight for her solo. Accompanied by somber strings and a piano, hair pulled back in her Bionic curls, and wearing a demure black ensemble, Aguilera started softly, singing about smoking guns, lost magic and the tragedy of a dying relationship, then picked up steam from there as the music swirled beneath her. The middle section of the song was smoky and solemn, Aguilera stretching the notes, then, eyes closed and right arm outstretched, sang for the rafters. Her voice got bigger and bigger as the song entered the home stretch, but she never let things get out of control, and brought the tune home with a simple, breath-y “You lost me.” And as the “Idol” audience gave her a much-deserved standing ovation, it became clear that Aguilera still has got the goods to go up against anyone. Romeo Says He’s Up For A Part In ‘Breaking Dawn’

‘That’s a little secret out there to all the ladies,’ he tells MTV News. ‘Will y’all be Team Romeo?’ By Kara Warner Lil’ Romeo Photo: MTV News Percy “Romeo” Miller has been quite the jack-of-all-trades in the last couple years, juggling music and acting careers with playing basketball and being a student at the University of Southern California. When MTV News caught up to the multi-hyphenate to find out what film is his pick for Best Movie at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards , he revealed a bit of a bias — because he’s in talks for a part in “Breaking Dawn.” “The one thing is, I might be in the last ‘Twilight,’ so I’m going to have to go with [‘New Moon’ to win over ‘Avatar’],” he said, ready to give Team Edward and Team Jacob a fight. “That’s a little secret out there to all the ladies. Will y’all be Team Romeo?” Romeo said he’s talking about taking on a small role in the last of a possible two films being made out of Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling book. “We’re talking to some of the executive producers right now,” he said. “It’s a small [role], but you might see me in there.” The former Nickelodeon star said he’s ready to give muscled-up werewolf Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) some competition. “I’ve been working on my physique, I’m getting ready,” he said proudly, lifting up his sleeve to show off a bicep. “Team Romeo is here, baby.” In the meantime, Romeo is busy promoting a new album due in July and the horror movie “The Pig People,” set in his native Louisiana. It’s a movie Romeo described as both “spooky and sexy” that revolves around creepy half-pig creatures that go on a murderous rampage in a small town. The film also stars Romeo’s dad, Master P. ‘Twilight’ Trio Have A Long History With MTV Awards Shows

The story continues when Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner present at the 2010 Movie Awards. By Kara Warner Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart at the 2009 Movie Awards Photo: Jeff Kravitz/ FilmMagic Over the course of the past few MTV Movie Awards and Video Music Awards, “Twilight” superstars Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart have become staples. With Thursday’s (May 20) announcement that the big three will continue the trend with an appearance at the 2010 Movie Awards, we take a look back at their MTV awards-show history. Pattinson, Stewart and “Twilight” baddie Cam Gigandet made their first MTV Movie Awards appearance in 2008. They casually made their way down the gold carpet to introduce an exclusive film clip on MTV’s pre-show. That would mark their last low-key appearance. Three months later at the 2008 VMAs, “Twilight” fever had caught on in a big way, and Stewart, Pattinson, Gigandet and Lautner were greeted with plenty of high-pitched screams from fans in the audience. The castmembers introduced “Twilight” soundtrack band Paramore for their big performance. Twilighters were furious with host Russell Brand for allegedly cutting Pattinson off before he finished his line in the introduction. In addition to cleaning up at the 2009 Movie Awards — “Twilight” took home five awards, including Best Movie — Stewart, Pattinson and Lautner took center stage yet again to introduce the first “New Moon” trailer , which Pattinson called “a thank you to the fans.” Stewart glossed over the fact that the trailer boasted not one but two shirtless stars (Pattinson and Lautner) and instead bragged that “New Moon” has “amazing special effects.” Lautner merely assured the audience they’d want to watch the trailer more than once. Last fall, at the 2009 Video Music Awards — amid the Taylor Swift/ Kanye West controversy — Pattinson and Stewart seemed to be seasoned pros. They skipped the red-carpet mayhem, leaving Lautner to work the crowds and the press. They later joined their co-star onstage and marked yet another “Twilight” MTV moment when they presented the extended trailer for “New Moon.” Tune in Sunday, June 6, at 9 p.m. ET/PT to this year’s MTV Movie Awards to see what “Twilight” moments will be added to an already storied history. Mark Hoppus Compares ‘Star Wars’ To ‘Twilight’

Blink-182 frontman says not seeing a ‘Twilight’ movie would be like ‘somebody coming up to me and saying [they] never saw ‘Star Wars.’ By Jocelyn Vena Mark Hoppus Photo: MTV News The teens of the new millennium wait anxiously for the day they can hit up their local cinema and check out the latest installment of “The Twilight Saga,” but 30 or so years ago that’s how teens felt about each and every episode of “Star Wars.” So when the stars, including Han Solo himself, Harrison Ford, gathered to celebrate the 30th anniversary of “The Empire Strikes Back” , it seemed fitting to note that if you didn’t see this film in the theaters all those years ago, it was kind of like missing an episode of “Twilight.” But first Blink-182 frontman Mark Hoppus explained to MTV News at the event just why “Empire” is still such a beloved part of the “Star Wars” franchise. “I think that this movie has a longevity because it kicks so much ass, and it’s definitely my favorite movie of all time. And I think that it … has a really amazing second-act feel to it,” he said. “It’s really dark. It’s moody. It’s not just an action/adventure. There’s all these different elements that come into it. There’s betrayal and there’s discovery. It’s a really great movie.” That sounds similar to the second act of “Twilight,” “New Moon,” which sees itself pitted against “Avatar” at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards . Hoppus admits he feels kind of silly for not yet having seen this generation’s pivotal flick. “I have not seen the new ‘Twilight,’ ” he said. “I don’t know. I suppose for this generation that’s like somebody coming up to me and saying [they] never saw ‘Star Wars.’ ” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Katy Perry’s Evolution: Teen Church Singer To Teenage Dream

The 2010 MTV Movie Awards performer has come a long way since her Nashville days. By James Montgomery Katy Perry Photo: John Parra/ WireImage Katy Perry’s journey to the top of the pop world actually began in a far different place: Nashville, Tennessee. The daughter of pastors, she spent her early years singing in churches, then went to Music City as a fresh-faced 15-year-old looking to score a record deal. In the years that followed, it’s been a pretty amazing ride, one that doesn’t show signs of slowing down anytime soon. On August 24, she’ll release the follow-up to One of the Boys, Teenage Dream, and she’s already got a brand-new single — the beach-ready “California Gurls” — that’s burning its way up the charts. She’s also just been confirmed as a performer at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards . It’s looking like 2010 is going to be a very big year for Perry. So, before things get too hectic, we figured now would be a good time to take a look back at just how far Perry’s come. In her own words, here’s how she evolved from gospel-singing teen to chart-dominating, girl-kissing pop sensation. From California to Nashville (And Back Again) Born in Santa Barbara, California, Perry headed to Nashville in early 2000 with dreams of landing a recording contract. “When I was 14 or 15, I started going to Nashville, Tennessee, to start recording gospel songs and be around amazing country music veterans and learn how to craft a song and play guitar,” Perry said. “I have definitely grown up and changed a lot.” After failing to make an impact in Nashville, she changed her last name from Hudson to Perry, moved back to her native California and teamed up with famed producer Glen Ballard, eventually scoring a deal with Island Records. Perry got to work recording an album that, as it turned out, would never see the light of day. But the fire had clearly been lit. For the next seven years, she’d grind it out, bouncing between labels and writing partners, making cameos in music videos and, finally, hitting it big in 2008 with “I Kissed a Girl,” the first official single from her One of the Boys album. And the rest, as they say, was history. “I came from Santa Barbara to Los Angeles. With a wonderful producer named Glen Ballard, who brought me out here and kinda looked out for me for three years,” she explained. “After being signed and dropped, signed and dropped, signed and dropped by a couple different record labels whose names I will withhold, Capital Records picked me up.” Kissing a Girl (And Liking It) As she said, Perry spent most of the mid-2000s bouncing between labels and teaming with a host of top-notch songwriters. In 2007, she finally found a home at Capitol Records and began working with the team of Dr. Luke and Max Martin, who helped her craft what would become her breakout hit: “I Kissed a Girl,” a tune that topped the Billboard Hot 100 for seven straight weeks and, in the process, turned Perry into a bona fide pop sensation. Other singles followed, and they were hits too, but Perry wasn’t content to rest on her laurels. Instead, she began looking toward the next phase of her career … not surprising for a girl who had worked so hard to get to this point. “For me in this past year and a half, I think some people have an idea of who I am or a little piece of the cake, but I get to show off,” she said. “I am really excited to be ever evolving and changing with my look, my music. It keeps me entertained as well. The next record will be very pop.” A California Gurl With Teenage Dreams Perry spent a good chunk of 2009 working on the follow-up to One of the Boys, teaming up once again with Dr. Luke and Max Martin. Teenage Dream is inspired by Ace of Base and roller-skating jams, Perry said, and the first single is a triumphant slice of summertime pop called “California Gurls,” an ode to her past and her future. “It’s so exciting [the album] is coming out this summer. It’s a summer record. It’s what I said I wanted earlier. I finally got it. We nailed it,” Perry beamed. “There might be some really cool guest’s appearance. Some rappers from the West Coast, since I am a California girl, you know.” So, with an almost certain second smash on her hands — not to mention a very high-profile wedding to comedian Russell Brand looming on the horizon — where does Perry go from here? Even she’s not sure just yet. But she knows that whatever she does, it’ll be big. “I feel like bit of a volcano,” she said. “I’m ready to explode with all of these new songs. I have a different perspective, and I changed a lot.” What would you say is the highlight of Katy Perry’s career so far? Share your thoughts in the comments.
