L.A. Clippers forward Blake Griffin shares some of his workout secrets responsible for making him such a formidable opponent on the court and how he rises above the competition. On maintaining his energy level… “Energy is something you can control. In everything you do, you’re going to face people more talented than you. I set myself apart by bringing more energy than they do.” His dunking skills… “I constantly heard that all I do is dunk…And I can understand it. There aren’t SportsCenter clips of me shooting 15-footers.” His most proud game from last season against the Pacers… “Most of my baskets came from midrange jumpers…I was the finesse player people said I couldn’t be. I’m excited to show how I’ve added to that part of my game.” How he recovers from injury… “There were days when I didn’t feel like going through the same routine…But I learned that if you’re positive, any situation can be a chance to improve yourself.” The importance of being a team player… “I recently got to talk to Magic Johnson…He said he used to tell individual teammates, ‘Come in before practice and work with me.’ He emphasized that being a leader isn’t about just pushing yourself. It’s also about motivating teammates.” The Jan/Feb 2012 issue of Men’s Health Magazine is on newsstands now.
Kris Humphries and the New Jersey Nets made their home debut against the Atlanta Hawks last night, and Kim Kardashian’s ex was greeted with loud applause from the sellout crowd. But he and his teammates gave the crowd little to cheer about after the opening buzzer. The Hawks blew the Nets off the floor, winning by a final of 106-70 – quite the contrast for New Jersey from the night before – and holding last year’s fifth-leading NBA rebounder to just six boards. Granted, he sat out most of the second half. Kris Humphries, Nets Crushed by Hawks Through two games, Humphries’ stats look like this:

Prize acquisition Chris Paul scored 20 points and nine assists while Blake Griffin added 22 points and seven rebounds as the L.A. Clippers beat the Golden State Warriors 105-86. Monta Ellis, who was probably happy to be making news for balling instead of texting graphic photos of a Warriors employee, had 15 points and eight assists for G.S. It was not a spectacular opener for CP3 and Blake, but at least they won, unlike the other L.A. team, the Lakers, who were undone by Derrick Rose’s game winner . The Clippers are expected to be a playoff contender for the first time in an eternity, and here’s a big reason why. SMH at Brandon James and his “Time To Shut Up, Fat Boy!” comments: After a week of backpage dialogue between the Jets and Giants leading up to Saturday’s game — much of it musings from Jets Coach Rex Ryan about his team’s supposed superiority — one Giant decided it wasn’t enough to let his club’s play do the talking in the wake of its 29-14 win. “Time to shut up, fat boy!” Giants RB Brandon Jacobs yelled at Ryan, per The (Newark) Star-Ledger. Per the (New York) Daily News, Jacobs also sent a “shut the (expletive) up” to Rex, who reportedly countered with “go (expletive) himself.” Ryan’s take from his postgame press conference when asked about Jacobs? “We had a private conversation. That’s all I’ll leave it as,” he said. “He doesn’t like me. I respect him, but I couldn’t care less about him.” Watch video below to hear James call Rex Ryan a disrespectful bastard. Source
Hmmmmm…. Via TMZ: Evelyn Lozada — one of the stars of “Basketball Wives” who was once engaged to former NBA All-Star Antoine Walker — is being sued for allegedly receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars illegally. The story is shocking. Walker raked in a whopping $110 million during his NBA career, in addition to untold millions in endorsements and other deals … and he blew ALL OF IT and a lot more. Walker filed for bankruptcy last year, and now the bankruptcy trustee smells a rat. It seems Walker gave Lozada $560,000 when he already knew he was going belly up. The trustee has sued Lozada, claiming the transfer was fraudulent — an attempt to hide money from legitimate creditors. The trustee says Lozada used the money to start a Miami shoe store called Dulce, and now the trustee wants the $560k back. We’re told Lozada and Walker insist there was no funny business. He gave her the money to help pay her bills. Sources say Lozada funded Dulce NOT with the $560k, but by selling her engagement ring. And, our sources say, Lozada had no idea Walker was so deep in debt. We’re pretty sure Evelyn let Antoine spend major guap on her, but they can’t blame her for him running through $110 MILLION!!!! $110 MILLION???? SMH.
