Anna Benson: Implicated in 1996 Murder?

Reality star Anna Benson is in jail in Marietta, Ga., for allegedly breaking into her estranged husband’s home and threatening him with a gun . It turns out this is not the ex-stripper’s first run-in with the law. In 1996, Anna Benson (then Anna Warren) lived in a rundown Tennessee apartment that was adorned with satanic graffiti and anti-police messages. At 19, Anna was reportedly the subject of a sweeping manhunt after an 18-year-old man named Michael Evans was murdered in that apartment. The newspaper reports that the troubled youngster fled town when she and then boyfriend Paul Dejongh were charged with the murder of Evans. She was captured five months later and charges against her were eventually dropped, the New York Daily News reports, citing court records. “She got away with murder ,” Evans’ father, Michael Evans Sr., said. The same year her charges were dropped, Anna reportedly met MLB pitcher Kris Benson at the strip club she worked at, and the two wed in 1999. Things worked out pretty well for a time, but in 2012, Kris filed for divorce and the two have been struggling through their messy split ever since. Their arguing reached a boiling point last week when Anna was arrested on after she allegedly modeled a bulletproof vest and burst into Kris’ home. According to a police, Anna smashed his computer with a metal baton and wore an ammo belt, which police later found when they searched her. They also found that she had a knife with her. Kris claims Anna made it known she had a gun and demanded he pay her $30,000. He appeased her by claiming he was going to get the money. At that point he escaped and called police. Kris currently has custody of the couple’s three children, and, according to reports, he also helped her raise her daughter from a previous marriage.

Mad Max Gameplay Trailer: Not Much Gameplay

When we looked at the  Grand Theft Auto V gameplay trailer , we got a lot of exactly that,  GTA V gameplay. However, the same can not be said for this  Mad Max gameplay trailer. Mad Max Gameplay Trailer If you blinked, you might have missed the gameplay … but it was basically Mad Max kicking some dude in the face. Hopefully that doesn’t mean the game will rely heavily on melee because let’s be honest, melee is cool but a wide array of firepower is even cooler.  Despite the lack of actual gameplay, this trailer still looks pretty nice. Maybe not as awesome as the movies, but that’d be pretty hard to pull off. Most amazing part of this trailer? How much it looks like  Borderlands . Granted  Mad Max  looks a bit more muted and of course has a movie universe it builds off of, but  Borderlands is the post-apocalyptic franchise right now so comparisons are going to be made. What say you THG’ers? Is  Mad Max  poised to take over  Borderlands as your go-to run and gun through desolate ruins? Or are you sticking with the nomad pyros?  Let us know down in the comments!

Kate Middleton Baby Portrait: Blame the Royal Baby Watch, Heat Wave

Looks like the Royal Baby Watch and the heat wave gripping much of the Northern Hemisphere are officially starting to make people insane. Exhibit A: Spanish artist Kaya Mar dropped off a “tribute” to the mom-to-be at St. Mary’s Hospital’s Lindo Wing – RBW ’13 Ground Zero – on Friday. His painting features Kate Middleton making like the Mona Lisa, nursing the royal heir(ess) and extending one slender leg out from under her robe. For whatever reason, one of Queen Elizabeth’s corgis is also there. This may be the weirdest thing of all time, but at least it makes Kate Middleton’s official royal portrait look … a lot less awkward and a lot more royal, for sure. Gotta be the heat. It’s driven Kate out of the palace and into her parents’ house because they have A/C, and now it’s driven Kaya Mar out of his mind.

Top Ten Summer Video Games: What Will You Play?

We are in the midst of summer and while the fall and holiday times are the more traditional big video game release times, summer has some gems as well. So I present – My Top Ten Summer Games!!!  And the crowd goes wild!!! Okay, let’s do this. 10.  NHL14  — September 10th NHL 14 Trailer (Official) Had you told me yesterday that  NHL14 would even come close to a “most anticipated” list, I would have laughed in your face. Now? Well thanks to the   NHL94  Anniversary mode trailer this quickly became a most wanted. 9.   Payday 2 — August 13th Payday 2 Trailer I really enjoyed the first  Payday and this sequel would be higher up on the list if I didn’t already play the stealth mission based, Hitman . That and I just can not get past the fact that you are able to still hold a gun with two hands while carrying a body. 8.   Young Justice: Legacy — September 30th Young Justice Legacy Trailer I know September 30th is a bit beyond “summer” but as a cartoon based game it just has more of a summer feel to it. I was absolutely crushed when Cartoon Network canceled  Young Justice . Very disheartening. So, now I’m putting  Young Justice: Legacy on this list just so I can spend some more time with Superboy and his friends. 7.  The Wonderful 101 — September 15th The Wonderful 101 E3 Trailer (Wii U) I don’t even have a Wii U, but I still want to play this game. Little bit of  StarCraft ​ mixed with a dash of  Power Rangers and this just looks like fun. I can’t imagine I’ll go out and get a Wii U for just one game but eh, we’ll see. 6.   Diablo 3 — September 3rd Diablo 3 Trailer I know, trust me I know. I tried to not include this. I scratched it out in my notes at least four times. I just can’t help it. I already play  Diablo 3 on the PC, I already play  Torchlight on the XBox, why on earth is  Diablo 3 on a top ten list? I’m a Blizzard fangirl. As hard as I try not to be, it is what it is. 5.  Rayman Legends — September 3rd Rayman Legends E3 Trailer (Wii U) I’m almost 35, so when I first started playing video games, there wasn’t any of this open world business. You went where the game told you and you would like it. You couldn’t even go backwards. I think that’s why I’m looking forward to the side-scrolling  Rayman Legends. 4.   Disney Infinity — August 18th Disney Infinity Trailer Let’s just head it off at the pass –  Disney Infinity  was announced way back in 2010 long before  Skylanders came out so it isn’t some Skylanders knock-off. I have no shame in being a grown ass adult looking forward to buying toys for my video game. No shame at all. 3.  GTA V — September 3rd Grand Theft Auto V Trailer I touched (okay, more than touched) on it when talking about this Grand Theft Auto V gameplay trailer , but I’m looking forward to this merely because a.) it’s  GTA and b.) I really want to see this leisure business. I want to go paragliding or whatever else they have in store. 2.   Civilization 5: Brave New World  — July 9th Civilization V: Brave New World Trailer I have Sid Meier’s name tattooed to my ass like Xavier Roberts’ to that of a Cabbage Patch doll. No, I don’t, but never say never! I love the  Civilization ​ series in all of its forms and  Brave New World looks like another fun expansion pack. 1.   Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Remix  — September 10th Kingdom Hearts Trailer If you haven’t played  Kingdom Hearts before and are wondering how on earth a remix would make the top of any list, then you need to get this game. No really, you  need to. Great storylines, great characters, great gameplay. There is a reason that there were so many people who absolutely freaked when it was announced there would be a  Kingdom Hearts   3.  It is that good. So that’s my top ten – what’d I miss? Hospital Employees Fired for Accessing Records of Kim Kardashian

Six people have been fired for illegally accessing the medical records of patients at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, with The Los Angeles Times reporting this weekend that Kim Kardashian was among those whose privacy was breached. The incidents reportedly took place between June 18 and June 24. Kim, of course, gave birth to North West on June 15 and remained a patient for seven days as the premature baby was treated and evaluated. Insiders tell TMZ that Kardashian family members were suspicious that some kind of records-related activity took place considering the details that leaked to the media. Kim has been informed of this report and is happy to have the matter settled. She is also pleased that those in the wrong were terminated.

Cory Monteith Dead; Glee Star Found Unresponsive in Hotel Room

Glee star Cory Monteith was found dead Saturday. He was just 31.  Vancouver police found Monteith dead after he failed to check out at noon from the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel. Staff went to check on him and made the discovery. It’s been reported that he was “clearly deceased” at the scene.  According to investigators, he was in the room Friday night with some friends before the group went out on the city, then came back early Saturday alone. No foul play is suspected in the death of Cory Monteith, whose rep confirmed the worst in a statement in the hours after this story broke: “We are so saddened to confirm that the reports on the death of Cory Monteith are accurate,” the rep said. “We are in shock and mourning this tragic loss.” What led to his tragic passing is unclear, however. Police said “it was not immediately apparent” what caused his death. An autopsy is set for Monday. Monteith voluntarily checked himself into rehab earlier this year, admitting he had substance abuse issues. It was his second time seeking treatment. He had been dating fellow Glee star Lea Michele since 2012. Our thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family.

Renee Alway, America’s Next Top Model Star, Busted For Burglary, Forgery, Drugs, Fraud …

One-time America’s Next Top Model star Renee Alway was arrested following a SIX-HOUR STANDOFF with police, according to reports. Why? Alway, who finished third on ANTM Cycle 8, was arrested on June 28 in Palm Springs, Calif., and slapped with a ton of charges … to say the least. She was busted for suspicion of burglary, fraud, possession of narcotics, forged bills, and committing a felony while on bail (!) to name just a few. Police were called about a suspicious female lurking around a house that was supposed to be vacant; there, they found Alway in the garage with a gun . Officers had reason to believe another person, a male, was also in the house, and also packing heat, so they reportedly called in the SWAT team. No one else was found inside after their sweep, but the 27-year-old Alway was booked and remains behind bars now, unable to post $150,000 bail. As for why she was out on bail the first time, Renee Alway was arrested back on June 2 for possession of drug paraphernalia, petty theft, and fraud. She pleaded not guilty, and was released on bail … then this above incident took place four weeks later, landing her back in the pokey again. Insane.

Happy Birthday, Colton Haynes!

First, we loved him on Teen Wolf . Now, he’s been upgraded to series regular status on Arrow Season 2 . Yes, it’s a good time to be Colton Haynes, especially on July 13 every year… because it’s his birthday! Haynes kick-started his career by modeling for Abercrombie & Fitch at the age of 15. He then moved to Los Angeles and appeared via small roles in shows such as CSI: Miami and Pushing Daisies before truly catching a break as Jackson Whittemore on Teen Wolf . Send in your very best birthday wishes to the new 25-year old now and then also do so for the following famous folks: Harrison Ford (71) Patrick Stewart (73) Ken Jeong (44) Julius Caesar (Posthumous)

Brandi Glanville Breaks Hands, Lives to Tweet About It

This is not Brandi Glanville’s week when it comes to body parts. First, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member practically showed it all when stumbling drunk out of a bar crawl. Now, Brandi has taken to Twitter to whine about her broken hand, which she suffered in self-defense class Wednesday evening. Take a look at it here: “We are at circus my hand is throbbing and swollen and I couldn’t do my hair at all but its amazing!” Glanville Tweeted yesterday, proving her self-centeredness toughness. She isn’t the only celebrity this week to share her injury via a social network. Mariah Carey dislocated her shoulder during a music video shoot and then posted a video of herself leaving the hospital . We’re not sure why these women feel the need to publicize their pain to the public. Seems a bit self-serving and conceited. But we should take it easy on them. At Mariah and Brandi are not murderers .
