Monday’s Dancing With the Stars brought emotional routines and notable moments, such as Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Kirstie Alley taking a spill, but rising again. As far as scoring was concerned, talk show host Wendy Williams earned the night’s lowest scores – just 15 points out of 30 – for a stiff fox trot with Tony Dovolani. She was well back of the field, but was there a chance voters could propel her past another low flier, like Chris Jericho, to survive another week on DWTS? Follow the jump to see who was eliminated on the results show … Wendy Williams was in fact was eliminated on the results show. While she dubiously (and probably jokingly) was later quoted as saying “we were robbed,” she exited the ballroom gracefully and with trademark humor. There was also an element of relief in this for her. “I’m probably the busiest person in terms of flying back and forth. In addition to that, I have a marriage and a child and a litany of other things,” she said. Silver lining found. Williams thanked the judges and her partner, Tony Dovolani, “for teaching me how to dance,” implying that he accomplished a lot. “Despite stereotypes, this is one black girl who can’t do the running man.” So far, the first two results show have gone according to plan as far as scoring is concerned. Nine remain. Who do you think will win this? [Photos: ABC]
Our recent Top 10 Onscreen Hookers list has stirred up a tornado of talk about the prostitute perv-formances that didn’t make the list: Julia Roberts , Jamie Lee Curtis , and Susan Sarandon are amongst the cinema call girls who found defenders in our commenters. But our friends Lamont & Tonelli of San Francisco’s 107.7 the Bone had a sexy suggestion from a cult classic so skintillating, we had to create a new blog feature just to include it. We are engorged with pride to introduce our nude segment, Great Nude Performances, with…drum roll, please…. Kathleen Turner in Crimes of Passion (1984) ! “A lady of the night…A man of the cloth…and…A passion worth killing for!” Director Ken Russell was already known for his bawdy, elaborately staged tributes to the decadent European aristocracy (see: Lisztomania ) when he directed Crimes of Passion , which makes 80’s LA look just as sinful as the court of Louis the XIV- but with a lot more neon. Crimes of Passion stars Kathleen Turner at the height of her whiskey-voiced hotness as straight-laced architect Joanna, who moonlights as kinky hooker China Blue. Anthony Perkins is full of creepy skintensity as the pervy priest who stalks China Blue, with Bruce Davidson as her other stalker- and unlikely hero. Crimes of Passion tanked critically and at the box office, but has since become a cult classic thanks to its over-the-top tone and its bizarre sex scenes, including Kathleen penetrating a kinky cop with his own night stick and a vibrator named Superman. Kathleen Turner ‘s cute little chest muffins and amazing turkey timer nipples come out to play in three topless scenes worth every moment you’ll skinvest in this movie. ‘[Max and AN21] are going to finish their album, I’m going to do music, and I’m going to sleep!’ Angello tells MTV News of no-nonsense tour. By Adam Stewart Steve Angello Photo: MTV News The wave of success Size Records has been riding hit the pavement last month in the form of a huge motor coach touring the country. For one of the hottest labels in dance music, the multi-city Size Matters Tour formally kicked off back on March 22 at Fontainebleau’s LIV nightclub — the first in a series of massive Miami Music Week parties at the swanky venue. But the bus didn’t truly hit the road until a week later, when all the Miami madness had subsided. Now that Steve Angello, AN21 and Max Vangeli are done frolicking in the Sunshine State, things are about to get real. “Oh, they’re going to sleep at 8 p.m.,” Angello told MTV News. “[And] they’re going to wake up at 7 [a.m.]. They’re going to run next to the bus, [and] I’m going to keep them in shape!” “I’m already scared,” Vangeli told us in a separate interview. “I’m really scared!” AN21 added. It seems as if big brother has instilled the fear of God in the youngsters, who tell us they are as far as 13 or 14 tracks into their highly anticipated album, set for completion this year. Moreover, for the first time in what seems like ages, brothers Steve and AN21 will have a chance to sit down along with Max and finish up a track that the three have been working on for some time. “We have a track that we’ve actually been working on with Steve for, like, six months — maybe even longer,” AN21 said. “It’s so hard to finish it, because he’s always on the road or working on other things or we’re always on the road, so now we have his undivided attention [for] three weeks, so we’re going to finish something.” “It’s going to be work mode,” Angello said. “[Max and AN21] are going to finish their album, I’m going to do music, and I’m going to sleep!” There’s no denying that Angello means business. But we all know how the Swedes and their pals like to have a good time, so we had to ask the man in charge if there is any chance of the bus turning into a frat house on wheels. “There’s not going to be any alcohol on the bus — whatsoever!” Angello told us with an “I’m not kidding” look. “I heard from sources that if I bring one beer on the bus, [Steve]’s kicking me off,” Vangeli confirmed. “But I’m allowed to have two beers per week,” AN21 added with a smirk. “Maybe three!” “We have a lot of stuff to do [and] to work on, so it’s good,” Max added of the rules. “It was the same way in L.A. when we were working in the studio. Everyone was like, ‘Oh, guys, come out for the night!’ [but] Steve was like, ‘You finish your work and then you go!’ ” Even though we’re certain Angello’s no-nonsense rules might be bent just a tad, the packed schedule the gang has ahead of them certainly doesn’t leave much wiggle room for anything else. Having already logged miles with stops in Orlando, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Montreal, Toronto and Vegas, the Size Matters Tour hits up the Midwest on its next leg starting Tuesday night (April 5) in Columbus, Ohio, before a West Coast stint that ultimately rounds out the U.S. leg of the tour at Coachella on April 16. And then, of course, comes their slew of European dates, which take them out toward the end of summer. There’s certainly no rest for rest for this hard-hitting crew, but for Angello, it’s a much-needed change of pace. “You know, friends are jumping on [the bus] and coming off,” he said. “Different friends are joining me in different cities. It’s going to be fun, it’s a break of airports. I just need something else!” Will you check out the Size Matters Tour when it comes to your town? Let us know in the comments below! NFL star Hines Ward dedicated his Dancing With the Stars performance to his mom last night. With the top score of the evening, he certainly made her proud. Hines chose Earth, Wind and Fire’s “Fantasy,” which reminds him of his mother. He and partner Kym Johnson did the routine “as a thank you to her,” she says. When Bruno called it an uplifting expression of happiness, he wasn’t that far off. Seeing Hines’ adorable mom in the audience made it all the better, too … Dancing With the Stars Week 3 – Hines and Kym Hines and Petra Nemcova shared the lead last night with 25 points. Chelsea Kane and Kendra Wilkinson tied for the second position with 23 points apiece. Early leaders Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff and Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy took a step back this week, finishing with dueling 21s.
Ouch. Len’s words, as expressed in the headline above, summed up Wendy Williams’ performance on Dancing With the Stars, which will likely lead to her ouster. On a Personal Story Night that featured a touching dedication by Hines Ward and the fall and rise of Kirstie and Maks , Wendy wasn’t able to inspire quite as well. Her foxtrot to “Last Night a DJ Saved My Life” was subdued, lacking emotion and not particularly smooth, despite how hard she worked. Check it out below … Dancing With the Stars Week 3 – Wendy and Tony With her score of 15, Wendy sits at least five points behind the entire field, all of whom scored between 20-25. Think the voters will eliminate her this evening?
Wendy Williams’ foxtrot is the lowest-rated of the night. By Kelley L. Carter Kym Johnson and Hines Ward Photo: ABC Monday night’s “Dancing With the Stars” was an emotional event. The celebrities were told to choose a song that told a story about themselves. Some songs talked about their career challenges, some called up memories of now-deceased parents and others were about relationships and the challenges that go along with romance in the pubic eye. At the top of the judges’ list were football star Hines Ward and supermodel Petra Nemcova, who both grabbed scores of 25 out of 30. Talk-show host Wendy Williams earned the lowest score of 15. Here’s how the dancers fared this week: Wendy Williams and her partner, Tony Dovolani, told the story of Williams’ dreams of having a radio career. She performed the foxtrot to “Last Night a DJ Saved My Life,” and the judges thought she lacked fluidity. Judge Len Goodman said she worked extremely hard, but it wasn’t great. “It was suited to radio,” he told her. Bruno Tonioli told her “at times it looked like you put down roots.” Carrie Ann Inaba worried that Williams took a step backwards from her performance last week. Score: 15/30. Disney star Chelsea Kane and partner Mark Ballas danced to “Chelsea,” which was written for her by her first love. Her cha-cha was a big hit with the judges, who thought her performance was sexy and energetic. “Chelsea! Chelsea! Sexy! Sexy!” Tonioli said. Goodman joked, “I remember my first love, and she didn’t look anything like you!” Score: 23/30. Wrestler Chris Jericho and Cheryl Burke performed an emotional rumba to “Let It Be,” the same song that Jericho played at his mother’s funeral. The judges loved the powerful dance, an Inaba was in tears by the end. Score: 21/30. Model and reality star Kendra Wilkinson told her partner, Louis Van Amstel, that she wanted to dance to a song by Musiq Soulchild, which reminded her of the beginning of her relationship with her husband, Hank. She talked about “haters” who didn’t care for her dating her husband because of her background as a Playboy model and the former girlfriend of Hugh Hefner. They called her a “stripper,” she said. “There is nothing wrong with a good stripper!” exclaimed Tonioli. Score: 23/30. Rapper and actor Romeo and his partner, Chelsie Hightower, danced to “I’ll Be There,” which was in memory of two of his cousins who died at a young age. They danced the rumba, and the judges thought that his footwork needed a bit of work. 20/30. Football star Ward danced to Earth, Wind and Fire’s “Fantasy,” a tribute to his single mom, and judges were in love with his performance. “My whole life experience has been great. I’m very blessed. This is a tribute to her. It’s a celebration. We’re going to the moon, Ma! We’re on ‘Dancing With the Stars’!” he said to his mother, who was in the audience. Score: 25/30. Supermodel Petra Nemcova danced to “You Raise Me Up,” a song she said she listened to after she revisited the area destroyed by the tsunami in Thailand that she was in. The song, she shared, gave her the encouragement to start a foundation to benefit those affected by the tragedy. She and her partner, Dmitry Chaplin, danced the waltz, and the judges called her performance elegant. Score: 25/30. Boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard picked a fun song, “My Prerogative.” He and partner Anna Trebunskaya did the paso doble, and the judges said he needed to work on his lines a bit more. Score: 20/30. Actress Kirstie Alley and her partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, danced the rumba to “Over the Rainbow,” a song that Alley said embodies “the hopefulness after the despair” she felt in 1980 when in 72 hours she lost her mother, almost lost her father and got her first film role. The judges said she made an improvement. Score: 21/30. Actor Ralph Macchio danced to “Stay Gold,” from his movie “The Outsiders,” which he said also was his wedding song from 24 years ago. He and partner Karina Smirnoff danced the rumba, and Macchio closed the dance by running over to his wife and kissing her. Inaba said he needed to work on his core strength. Score: 21/30. ‘I think she’s perfect and they did a great job casting those movies,’ actor who plays Caius in ‘Breaking Dawn’ says. By Jocelyn Vena Jamie Campbell Bower Photo: MTV News Jamie Campbell Bower was thrust into the world of “Twilight” as Caius in “New Moon,” and he’ll be back vamping it up in “Breaking Dawn – Part 2” next year. And the actor admits that as he preps to return to the “Twilight” set in 2012 for the final “Twilight Saga” movie, fans of the franchise will get to see just how bad Caius and the rest of the Volturi are. “Well, [director] Bill Condon, he brings something wonderful and a sort of theatricalness to the whole film,” Bower explained to MTV News when he stopped by to talk about his new Starz series “Camelot.” “The film itself, it’s much darker than the first three. It’s got a grittiness to it. From our side, the Volturi side, you really get to find out how messed up these characters are and just how badass they are,” he said. “We’re really evil people. I was always like, we’re not evil, we’re trying to keep it cool, but they are nasty blokes. So from us, you get to see how screwed up we are. That was great fun to play, just screw about on set and do as much as possible and be theatrical.” Much of the chatter about the final films in the “Twilight” series revolves around Kristen Stewart’s turn as vampire Bella , and from one vamp to another, Bower has nothing but praise for her performance. “She’s great as a vampire,” he said. “I think she’s perfect and they did a great job casting those movies. “Again to be a part of something that is such a success and has influenced so many different things, I’m really honored to be able to do that,” he added. Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj and their die-hard fans are up for awards at April 28 event. By MTV News staff Photo: MTV The typical awards show is packed with performances, celebrity appearances, red-carpet arrivals and, at some point, the presentations of the night’s biggest prize, usually just before the credits roll. The O Music Awards ? Not so much. The first-ever edition of MTV Networks’ latest awards extravaganza will take everything you know about awards galas, throw it in a blender, mash it up with an obscure black-and-white cartoon from the 1940s, add a Kanye West beat under it and maybe some adorable LOLcats and a snippet of “Friday” on top, post it on Twitter and watch it go mega-viral. Instead of just honoring the singers, songwriters, directors and producers who make our favorite digital-music products, the O Music Awards will dig deeper in such categories as Innovative Music Video, Fan Army FTW, Funniest Music Short, Innovative Artist, Must Follow Artist on Twitter, NSFW Music Video, Most Viral Dance, Best Independent Music Blog, Best Animal Performance, Best Performance Series and more to dig up the people behind your favorite online music and videos, professional, amateur or just plain awesome. Voting begins today (April 5) on the O Music Awards website , and like the best viral memes, it will be simple, social and transparent, with fans encouraged to vote via social media through a mobile voting wap site. You can follow the top vote-getters in the categories on a real-time leader board in the run-up to the April 28 event. Performers and presenters will be announced in the coming weeks. And unlike those other awards shows, the night’s biggest trophy might be handed out before the broadcast, during it or even after, to keep the conversation going. “There will be an event, but it won’t be a traditional awards show with a host, audience and a bunch of celebrities,” promised Shannon Connolly, vice president of music strategy for the MTV Music Group. “It will embody what the O Awards celebrates, which is being very interactive. We’ll have live performances, mash-ups, collaborations and it will be a Web event that will take place not just on MTV Music Group sites.” Lady Gaga and Odd Future’s Tyler the Creator lead with three nominations each, followed by Kanye West, the Flaming Lips and Nicki Minaj with two nominations apiece. Additional nominated artists include Arcade Fire, Radiohead, Justin Bieber, Lil B, Wiz Khalifa, Robyn, OK Go, Katy Perry and iamwhoiam. Notable nominees include Antoine Dodson/ Gregory Brothers (Funniest Music Short), the Lonely Island (Funniest Music Short), Funny or Die (Funniest Music Short), 50 Cent, Rebecca Black and Bert (Favorite Animated GIF), the Hype Machine (Best Music Discovery Service), Pandora (Best Music Discovery Service), Tiny Desk Concerts (Best Performance Series), Gorilla vs. Bear (Best Independent Music Blog) and Marshall Jones (Best Music Hack). Fans will definitely be front and center, with an entire category devoted to the Best Fan Cover, the most rabid online fan following (which will pit 30 Seconds to Mars’ Echelon against the Beliebers, Katy Perry’s Bandaids, Gaga’s Little Monsters and the followers of My Chemical Romance, Nicki Minaj, Tokio Hotel, Wiz Khalifa, Rain and Rihanna). There are also nods to the Best Fan Forum, Best Music Hack and Best Animal Performance. The Innovative Artist race is a tight one as well, including such nominees as the Flaming Lips, iamwhoiam, Kanye, Gaga, Lil B, Radiohead and Tyler the Creator. You’ll have to choose between the Dougie, the Pony, Lil B’s Cooking Dance and the “Whip My Hair” boogie in the Most Viral Dance category. In keeping with recent digital-music innovations from MTV Networks like MTV Hive and the Music Meter , Connolly said it was apparent that the time was right to create an awards show that moved at the speed of the Net. “Music consumption has never been greater, and it’s hugely important to our audience,” she said. “We felt like the time was right to look at the convergence of technology and music fans and the YouTube celebrities who’ve created this new ecosystem where music is exploding.” Voting starts today for the O Music Awards .
