Unexpected Feud of the Week: Andrew Garfield vs. Robert Pattinson!

In a battle of webs against fangs, which will come out on top? That’s the question we’re now forced to ask, as Us Weekly sources report that an unexpected feud is brewing in Hollywood: Andrew Garfield vs. Robert Pattinson ! Simply put… “Andrew can’t stand Rob,” the tabloid insider claims. “Andrew hates that they’re put in the same category because they’re both English and around the same age.” And Pattinson isn’t itching to befriend the latest superhero star either, allegedly, as each attended the wedding of producer Kevin Turen on June 23, but “spent much of the night ignoring each other,” according to a witness, who added: “They don’t enjoy hanging out. Andrew considers himself a ‘serious actor’ and sees Rob as the equivalent of a cheesy boy bander because of Twilight .” Ouch. Zing and a half! Will Robert soon fire back? He is in a fighting mood these days, recently calling out whoever came up with the nickname R. Patt . You tell us, readers: Which of these actors would you rather do anything but fight with… naked in bed?

Robert Pattinson Eyes Future James Bond Role

There could be a new cold-blooded young buck waiting in the wings to play 007 if and when Daniel Craig is over his stint in the role. Heartthrob Robert Pattinson is eyeing the future post- Twilight and has dabbled recently with roles in Bel Ami (which didn’t do so spectacularly at the box office) and Cosmopolis which opens in the U.S. next month, but failed to whip up a frenzy in Canada where it opened last month. Still, the dashing actor packs some fan-base mojo and James Bond could be a place down the line and the actor has taken a peek. He told British paper The Sun that he’d like to play the character that the likes of Pierce Brosnan, Timothy Dalton, Roger Moore and Sean Connery have traversed before, though he said he’d have to wait until he’s in his 40s. “Yeah, I’d definitely like to go for Bond, but in more like 20 years,” said 26 year-old Pattinson. “There’d be nothing worse than, like, ‘let’s get a fresh-faced Bond.’ That would be the worst idea in the world. It would be ridiculous to reinvent it as some young posh kid.” He paid tribute to the current reigning Bond, noting, “After Daniel Craig, you have to have some baggage. I’d have to be tortured in the first few scenes. I’d have to do the first film with one arm or something.” Apparently, the actor is even looking to do a series of Bonds… But with two decades to go, Pattinson will have time to get into 007 shape, which he admitted is not quite up to par (though his loyal fans may disagree). “I’ve got to make up for 10 years of living like a degenerate. I’ve suddenly become conscious of being unhealthy,” he said. “You’ve spent every bit of free time since the age of 15 in a pub. And suddenly you’re like, ‘Oh God, I don’t want to be this grey ghost sitting there with a pot belly.’ I’ve got to get it together.” [Source: The Sun ]

Robert Pattinson Dishes on Typecasting, Adele, Superheroes and Cosmopolis

Robert Pattinson has a lot riding these days. He traveled to Cannes for the world premiere of David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis in which he plays a multimillionaire on a 24-hour odyssey through New York City (mostly in his limo) and he stars in Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod’s Bel Ami in which he portrays a man grabbing power by manipulating Paris’ most wealthy women. And of course there was his most recent annual win for Best Kiss at the MTV Movie Awards last weekend (he and Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart have taken the “prize” for four years straight – those sexy things). Pattinson spoke with CBC host George Stroumboulopoulos about his latest pursuits and more. The actor talks about Twilight type-casting, how Ryan Gosling inspired him, his feelings about Heath Ledger and his run-in with singer Adele. Cosmopolis opens in Cronenberg’s native Canada in the next few days (it is slated for the U.S. this year) while Bel Ami will debut Stateside this weekend. (Video of the Robert Pattinson George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight interview is below and airs Thursday, June 7, at 11:05 pm on CBC television – Interview re-printed with permission by CBC). You know, post- Twilight franchise , you were trying to go down different roads? Was this legitimately part of your planning? Robert Pattinson : This was not part of the plan at all. I just thought I was totally oversaturated everywhere, I wanted to do little tiny parts or maybe no parts at all. I got this three weeks before I was finishing the last Twilight movie, and I was really, really determined to find ensemble pieces or anything small just so I didn’t have to be in everybody’s face and annoying everyone. And then this thing came up. Is this a new experience for you though, to watch your film back and go, oh wait a minute, how do I promote this movie? RP: Ah, completely. It reminded me, I watched this interview with Ryan Gosling once, and he said when he did The Believer a few years ago, and people were saying – cause he’d done Young Hercules for three or four seasons – and then he did The Believer and everybody was asking about his craft. And it’s the most, most confusing thing. I was in Cannes doing these interviews, and I was really fighting to not look pretentious for years, and someone gives you one inch of the possibility of being pretentious, and you’re like grabbing it so hard, going around being the biggest douchebag. And now I’ve kind of reined it in again. The one thing I imagine that you’re dealing with is aside from your close circle of friends — actual humanity, actual human conversations, the connections we all crave as a person, it’s harder and harder for you to find, isn’t it? RP: Yeah, but I just remember, I think I was pretty similar before. Like I would be one of those people who was desperate to go to a party and then they go to the party and just stand in the corner with the people they came with and refuse to acknowledge that anyone else is there. So I don’t really miss anything. And you kind of, you have all these fantasies if I wasn’t famous I’d meet all these random people in the street all the time. But you don’t meet random people in the street. Most of the time you’re trying to avoid everybody even if you’re not famous. Actually I had this argument with Adele, which is probably the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever said. I was saying, “you know, you can really just like reach for it,” and she was like, “you do realize I am like the biggest-selling female artist ever?” And I just for some reason just decided to get into an argument with her. How does that happen, at two o’clock in the morning somewhere? R.P. Yeah, and then waking up and kind of really, really regretting every word I said. Do you think much about the fact that when this franchise goes away, that you need that second act to your career? Do you think about that? RP:  The only thing I ever thought about was thinking, I don’t want anyone to think that I somehow got trapped by something, you know. And I don’t know if anyone really does, the general public, about Twilight – but the amount of times you get asked, “oh, are you worried about being typecast?” I’m just worried about people saying, like, “What happened to that guy?” And also, you think, you want to do something at least a little bit worthwhile with what kind of power you’ve been given, through luck. And not just keep trying to extend the same thing for as long as possible. I’m not very scared of it going away at all. If I could somehow maintain a career in which I keep making movies like Cosmopolis , than I think it would be amazing, because not very many of them are made. You know, I always thought after The Dark Knight , for instance, it makes tons and tons of money, and Heath is doing something just outside — and people understand what he’s doing, it’s not like he’s not doing something totally crazy, but it’s just slightly outside the box of what people are used to seeing, and I really thought that was going to change everything as to how the big budget movies are made. But it didn’t, at all. If every single actor wasn’t afraid of trying to do something slightly abstract and not concerned about their movie making tons and tons of money, then eventually the industry would change. But then you and other guys in your position, can you make these kinds of films, then? And not just as actors? RP: I think you can once. I don’t know how many other times. I’m desperately trying to get a superhero movie now.

2011 Movie Awards: Rob Smooches Taylor And More!

We look back at last year’s biggest moments before the MTV Movie Awards go live tonight at 9 p.m. ET/PT. By Kara Warner Robert Pattinson kisses Taylor Lautner at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage UNIVERSAL CITY, California — All week long, we’ve been getting you pumped up for the 2012 MTV Movie Awards with performer interviews, behind-the-scenes reveals and much more. We are soclose to show time, you can almost hear the squeals coming from inside the Gibson Amphitheatre. While we await the start of our “Punk’d Movie Awards Pre-Party” at 8 p.m. tonight and the snazzy red-carpet arrivals, let’s take a moment to walk down the memory lane of last year’s action-packed extravaganza: A Host With the Most “Saturday Night Live” funnyman Jason Sudeikis proved to be as adept in awards-show hosting as he is with being a chameleon-esque comic with his various characters on “SNL.” Sudeikis kept his jokes light and fun, with a couple of well-placed jabs at 2011 newsmaker Arnold Schwarzenegger and the “Twilight” cast. Unsolicited Smooches and Groping 1. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have dominated the Best Kiss category for the past three years and delivered their best acceptance speech yet last year when Pattinson decided not to kiss Stewart and instead went running into the audience to plant a wet one on his co-star Taylor Lautner. 2. When “Friends with Benefits” co-stars Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake walked out to present the award for Best Male Performance, no one guessed that their presentation would include a mutual groping of Kunis’ boobs and Timberlake’s nether regions for everyone to see, but they did, and that moment lives on in infamy. The “Deathly Hallows, Part 2” Clip The most magical moment of last year’s broadcast was an exclusive and highly anticipated preview of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.” Potter fans were treated to an emotionally charged sneak peek at the final film in the blockbuster franchise with the debut of an explosive new clip. Jim Carrey We can always count on Jim Carrey to deliver a memorable moment when he attends the Movie Awards. There’s his unforgettable appearance in 1999 when he had everyone fooled with a clever disguise, and last year, Carrey brought down the house with a perfect blend of innovation and comedy via his green suit that featured a series of random and inappropriate images on it while Carrey introduced the Foo Fighters. The Foo Fighters The performance slot at the MTV Movie Awards is one of the most coveted and sought-after for artists new and old. For last year’s marquee act, we enlisted one of the biggest acts in the business and a band with a storied history with MTV: the Foo Fighters, who rocked the house with their rousing live rendition of “Walk.” Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to cast your vote for Best Hero and Best Movie now! Robert Pattinson: KStew Will ‘Kiss Herself’ At Movie Awards

Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are up for their fourth Best Kiss award at this year’s MTV Movie Awards, airing Sunday at 9 p.m. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Laura Whitmore Robert Pattinson Photo: MTV News There are only a few more hours left to cast your votes for the 2012 MTV Movie Awards , and should you need more reason to throw your support behind four-time Best Kiss nominees and three-time winners Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson , we have one for you, courtesy of Pattinson himself. When MTV UK recently caught up with the actor during an early press day for his highly anticipated film “Cosmopolis,” we asked him about his chances in bringing home a fourth golden popcorn trophy for his smooch with Stewart in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2” and if they have plans to make a creative acceptance speech if they win. “I don’t know,” he said. “We didn’t get nominated for anything else. I’m like, ‘Grr,’ ” Pattinson joked about their film’s two nominations this year, versus the multiple nominations in previous years. “[I won’t be there because] I have to be in Toronto for ‘Cosmopolis,’ but I think Kristen is going so she’s going to kiss herself if she wins.” When asked about the specifics of Stewart’s plans for kissing herself, Pattinson didn’t want to give too much away. “People have to vote [to see]!” he said with a laugh. So what does Pattinson’s leading lady think of their chances for winning the award a fourth year in a row? “You know, you can’t have too many expectations going into that,” Stewart told MTV News recently during her appearance at our Sneak Peek Week Q&A for “Snow White and the Huntsman.” “There’s a lot going into that, just to be there is a huge honor. The 22-year-old actress went on to say that she is still surprised to have taken home any Best Kiss awards, given the very memorable onscreen kisses performed by previous winners. “When I was young, the [Best] Kiss was always a big thing, that’s why winning always [seemed impossible]. I think the ‘Spider-Man’ [kiss] I always imagined, ‘You’re never going to be able [to live up to that] and then the ‘Notebook’ [kiss] happened and then [I thought], ‘I’m never going to try and top those.’ ” Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote for your favorite flicks now! ‘The Expendables 2’ Trailer: Five Key Scenes

Sylvester Stallone and his team return to fight an unexpected threat in this action-packed trailer. By Fallon Prinzivalli Sylvester Stallone in “The Expendables 2” Photo: Lionsgate After teasing the film with exclusive posters and movie stills , the first full-length trailer for “The Expendables 2” finally dropped Thursday (May 3). IGN premiered the preview to the action-packed film with an intro from Sylvester Stallone himself. “If you thought the first movie kicked some serious ass,” Sly says, “you haven’t seen anything yet.” With an A-List cast including Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, Jet Li, Terry Crews, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jean-Claude Van Damme and newcomers Liam Hemsworth and Chuck Norris, we don’t doubt the “Rocky” actor’s words. The film follows the return of Barney Ross (Stallone) and his team as Mr. Church (Willis) enlists the Expendables for a job that seems like easy money. When one of their crew is murdered, however, the revenge they seek leaves them stranded in enemy territory having to combat an unexpected threat. Check out the five key scenes from the action-packed trailer: Swinging Into Action The trailer opens with sirens blaring and the crew propelling down a zip-line into the middle of a forest. As you’d expect, the firing begins immediately as sparks start flying and a truck flips over — and we’re only 30 seconds in. Just when you think Barney Ross and his team are the ones doing the ass-kicking, they’re surrounded by the enemy. Lee Christmas (Statham) looks over Barney and asks, “That loaded?” Barney replies, “I hope so,” and begins taking their captors down one by one with a hidden gun in his hand — or did he? The shot then cuts to newcomer Bill “The Kid” Timmons (Hemsworth), who is hiding in the trees with a smoking gun. Time to Reload The team loads their weapons as Barney tells the Kid, “Somebody’s hooked.” Protecting the world by taking out the bad guys with some heavy artillery — who wouldn’t be? The next scene shows Lee in priest robes saying, “I now pronounce you man and knife,” and cuts away before we catch a glimpse of who he inevitably stabs. The next clips show various members of the team speeding off on motorcycles, engaging in hand to hand combat, taking down helicopters and setting off explosion after explosion. The Threat Our villain comes in the form of Jean-Claude Van Damme (aptly named Jean Vilain) who’s planning on using a very powerful chemical to change the balance of the world. World dominance, that’s what every bad guy is after, right? As we see his team gathering, the tagline flashes across the screen, “When the threat is this great, everyone is expendable.” If everyone’s expendable, Barney is going to need a lot more men to get through this one. Cue Chuck Norris and Arnold Schwarzenegger Like clockwork the invincible Chuck Norris (Booker) approaches the camera walking away from cars engulfed in flames and smoke. (Cool guys don’t look at explosions, remember?) Next is Arnold Schwarzenegger’s (Trench) turn to get in a version of his classic tagline: “I’m back.” As he says it, he leans out of a window wearing a band of bullets around his chest and casually smoking a cigar. Killing a few bad guys? Been there, done that. The Plan When Lee asks the plan of attack to stop the enemy, Barney says, “Track ’em, find ’em, kill ’em.” And you guessed it, more explosions, more knife fights, and bullets, bullets, bullets. If you’re looking for an action film, you will not be disappointed. One clip that stood out was Church pulling up in a tiny car and telling Trench to get in. He rips the door off the automobile as he climbs in and says, “My shoe is bigger than this car.” It hints at the inevitable comedy involved in a film with an all-star cast. In the final sequence, Barney drives a plane into a tunnel and Lee says, “You’re going to need a new plane.” The two laugh as the screen fades to black. “The Expendables 2” will explode into theaters August 17. While there is little known about the project, Deadline Hollywood reports the film takes place in the near future and follows a man (Pearce) who ruthlessly hunts a group of thieves through the rough Australian outback after they steal his car.
