For their first live auditions of season 11, both Jen Hirsh and Elise Testone covered the same Adele song last night. That has to be an American Idol first, right? Even more incredibly? The track was NOT “Rolling in the Deep!” Instead, each of these hopefuls delivered a version of “One and Only,” with Randy complimenting Jen for her R&B “swag” and then J. Lo taking it a step further for Elise, who sat at a piano for her performance. “You may be the best singer here,” Lopez told Testone. Listen to both now, compare them to other contestants such as Shannon Magrane and then vote on your favorite cover: Jen Hirsh – One and Only Elise Testone – One and Only Whose version of Adele did you prefer?
It’s one thing to be a fan but cotDAMN…SMH While most of us have already seen, passed judgement on, and moved past, Nicki Minaj’s head-scratching Grammy performance, Philadelphia chanteuse Jill Scott just got a chance to see it for herself. Upon watching the clip, Jill took to Twitter to express her thoughts on the Catholic-themed show. Like most of us, Jilly from Philly wasn’t really diggin’ it, and the Nicki Barbz came out of their dollhouses in droves to e-ssassinate her over Twitter. Although they were totally out of pocket in the way they addressed the three-time winner, she handled the misguided Minaj minions with class and dignity. Flip the script to peep the tweets. ‘He’s everybody’s Uncle Jesse,’ singer/actor jokes to MTV News about ‘Full House’ alum. By Jocelyn Vena Nick Jonas Photo: MTV News Nick Jonas is currently playing Finch, the lead role in Broadway’s “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” following in the footsteps of an elite group of singers and actors, including Matthew Broderick, Ralph Macchio and, most recently, Darren Criss and Daniel Radcliffe . But Jonas finds himself channeling a few other actors — one of whom he happens to be besties with — for his performance. “I’m a big fan of Bobby Morse; he was the original, and he was in the movie. I love his work in the movie,” he said, before joking, “I obviously didn’t get to see him when he was Finch in the ’60s. But I really loved his performance [in the movie], and John Stamos is a friend of mine and also played this role back in 1995.” In case you’re wondering how Stamos and Jonas know each other, they both appeared in “Hairspray” at the Hollywood Bowl last year and have stayed in touch since. “He came and saw the show and overall is a pretty hilarious guy,” Jonas said. “So it’s been fun, and I hope that I can meet Bobby Morse one day. Stamos actually sent me a picture of he and Bobby Morse to kind of rub it in my face, so I’m a bit jealous. “[Me and] Stamos? It’s like dynamite,” Jonas continued of their bromance. “We watch a lot of YouTube videos. We talk about music quite a bit. He’s a big music fan. He’s a really good dude. He’s been really kind through the whole process, because he played the role. He knows what it takes to do it. [It’s a] cool older-brother type vibe in that sense. He’s everybody’s Uncle Jesse.” Do you want to hang with Nick and John? Let us know in the comments! Related Videos MTV News Extended Play: Nick Jonas Related Artists Nick Jonas & The Administration

For the second consecutive night, American Idol delivered a two-hour episode on Thursday, testing the patience of even the most loyal viewers. That’s A LOT of Ryan Seacrest. But the quartet of Reed Grimm, Elise Testone, Haley Johnson and Eben Franckewitz made it worthwhile this time around, making like the Rat Pack for a rendition of “The Night Has a Thousand Eyes.” Our favorite part by far? Eben trying to dance, with an emphasis on the word trying . Each member of the group advanced to the final 40, earning a standing ovation for this performance. Check it out now: Reed Grim, Elise Testone, Haley Johnson, Eben Franckewitz Group Performance
With her performance in Hollywood last night, let’s hope Shannon Magrane finally gets recognized for her potential to actually win American Idol . So far, the 16-year old has been the subject of inappropriate remarks from Steven Tyler , as well as lame puns from Fox producers (we were told last night that the contestant “hopes to a home run.” Get it? Because he father pitched in the World Series!). But let’s not lose track of an important fact, folks: Shannon can sing! She proves as much below, belting out a version of “What a Wonderful World.” Shannon Magrane – “What a Wonderful World” (American Idol Audition) We have high hopes for Magrane, who has been featured each week on season 11. The same can be said for Reed Grimm . Is the show trying to tell us something?
So for everyone who may have been lost watching Nicki’s performance at the Grammy’s, she was giving her alter ego Roman an exorcism. And walking down the red carpet with a Pope had more than people just talking. She has fired up all types of religious rights groups and receiving all types of hate mail and tweets. But in typical Nicki Minaj fashion she has this to say to all you haters. Here Is Why She Walked The Carpet With A Pope: He is major part of the story and the movie that I’m writing about one of my alter egos. His name is Roman. Basically the religious figure is there because he was called on by Roman’s mom to rehabilitate him. This Is Why She Chose To Wear The Over The Top Red Hood Versace Outfit: I wasn’t going to do the red carpet. I was backstage preparing to have my performance outfit and not do a carpet and go and sit down. My people wanted me to do it. I had this amazing robe made for me by Versace sent from Milan. I said, “Oh, my God I have to wear this. They were so generous. They sent me so much stuff and I was originally going to wear it during the performance, but when I got it, it was a little heavy for the performance. I said, “Hey, it’s only one way to do it and that’s the red carpet.” Understanding Why She Chose “Roman Holiday” For The Grammy’s: First of all, The Grammys chose ‘Roman Holiday.’ The producers of the Grammys came into the studio, and they heard ‘Roman Holiday’ and I could not play them another record after they heard that. They went crazy. I could have chosen to do a no-brainer pop song, but I can’t do it anymore. I have to stay true to what I’m doing. Seeing how comfortable I was last night, I was like, “Oh, my God”, this was the best choice because my fan base, the Roman Empire and the Barbz they understand every single thing that I’m doing because Roman was created two years ago. Roman isn’t something new just coming out. I’ve been writing the story for a very long time and yesterday was his coming out party. Laurianne [Gibson] is such a good friend of mine and she did an amazing job bringing my vision to life. It was very literal if you know who Roman is and what he’s all about but if you don’t know the Roman character then you have to kind of digest it And Last But Not Least This Is Dedicated To Her Haters : Were they offended by ‘the devil inside’??? Shut-up & watch the movie bitch! #ThrowsPopcornATtheBackOfYoHeadHoe! lmaoooooooooooooooooooooooo Not, 2, Not 1…I wish I at least had a point five percentile worth of f*cks to give right now. Bewp! > RT @DeeTheeNinja: If she was up there half naked and popping her cuka nobody would be saying sh-t….Basic hoes!
And… there it is. As expected, the Catholic League has issued a statement regarding Nicki Minaj’s controversial performance of “Roman Holiday” at the Grammy Awards Sunday night, which featured choir boys, bishops, holy water, faux possessions, levitation and a confessional. Nicki Minaj – “Roman Holiday” (2012 Grammy Performance) “Nicki Minaj, fresh off looking like a fool with Madonna at the Super Bowl , showed up last night on the red carpet at the Grammys with a guy dressed like the pope. This was just a prelude of what was to come,” wrote Catholic League President Bill Donahue, adding: “Perhaps the most vulgar part was the sexual statement that showed a scantily clad female dancer stretching backwards while an altar boy knelt between her legs in prayer. Finally, ‘Come All Ye Faithful’ was sung while a man posing as a bishop walked on stage; Minaj was shown levitating.” Donahue concluded by calling out the Grammys themselves, writing: “Whether Minaj is possessed is surely an open question, but what is not in doubt is the irresponsibility of The Recording Academy. Never would they allow an artist to insult Judaism or Islam.” What is Nicki’s defense of her act? She told Ryan Seacrest it was all about an alter ego named Roman. Naturally. “I had this vision for Roman, for him to be exorcised, but people around him telling him he’s not good enough, that he’s not normal, he’s not fitting in with the average Joe,” Nicki explained. “He wanted to show that not only is he amazing and confident, but he’s never going to be exorcised and when they throw the holy water on him, he rises above it.” Well… okay then. WHAT DID YOU THINK OF MINAJ’S PERFORMANCE AT THE GRAMMYS?
