Tyler Honeycutt, a former star for the UCLA Bruins who played parts of two seasons in the NBA, was found dead on Friday inside his home after a violent standoff with the police. He was 27 years old. The details behind Honeycutt’s death are both sad and bizarre. The Los Angeles Police Department and L.A. Fire Department told USA Today, TMZ and other media outlets that a man with a firearm shot at officers around5p.m. on Friday, prior to barricading himself inside his Sherman Oaks, California home for nine hours. The SWAT team eventually arrived and entered the residence … only to find Honeycutt lying on the ground, unresponsive. On Saturday afternoon, the official LAPD Twitter account die not cite Honeycutt by name, but did provide an update on the situation from the evening before, writing: Regarding last nights Officer-Involved Shooting in Van Nuys Division, it appears as if the suspect was not struck by any officer’s gunfire. The suspect appears to have sustained injuries consistent with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. TMZ reports that a gun was found inside the premises, near Honeycutt’s body, and it is presumed he took his own life. This same website says that Honeycutt’s mother was the person who called police Friday, saying her son was acting erratically on Friday. The former college star’s family has confirmed his passing to a local ABC affiliate, while his agent has done the same to the Russian team for whom Honeycutt had been playing professionally. No officers were injured in the altercation, according to LAPD. Meanwhile, several residents in the area had been evacuated as a precaution. Honeycutt earned All-Pac-10 First Team honors in 2011 as a sophomore, leading his team to the NCAA Tournament. He was then drafted by the Sacramento Kings in the second roundon tha NBA Draft, playing sporadically for two seasons with them, before heading to Europe to continue his career. He most recently played with Moscow’s BC Khimki. Former Kings teammate DeMarcus Cousins was one of several players to mourn Honeycutt’s death on social media, Tweeting this afternoon after the tragic news broke: “Prayers up for his family and friends. The Detroit rapper, born Tyjuan Peoples, was slapped with a restraining order to keep away from his ex-girlfriend as he awaits a hearing. TMZ reports : According to docs, obtained by TMZ, Andrea Inzunza says Zay most recently attacked her in May. She says she’d just suffered a miscarriage, and on the way home they got into an argument. She claims Zay grabbed her by the arm, pushed her to the ground and ripped her shirt. Andrea says police responded, but doesn’t say what, if anything, happened to Zay. In the docs, she says the rapper also assaulted her in February when they were at home. Andrea says Zay tied her up with a Gucci belt, and started to choke her with his hands — all because she wanted to go to sleep, instead of watching him edit a music video. Andrea filed for a restraining order … which the judge granted. He must stay at least 100 yards away from her, at least until a hearing later this month. In an interview with Net-A-Porter, the actress publicly came out as liking men and woman, and she revealed she has a serious relationship with Janelle Monáe . “We love each other deeply, we’re so close. Jen Harley was arrested on Sunday for the alleged assault of Ronnie Magro-Ortiz, generally prompting two responses from the public: These two REALLY do not belong together. How the heck could anyone assault the blob of muscles that is Ronnie Magro-Ortiz?!? In response to the first statement above, we say: no d’uh . In response to the second, we now have some new information to share. According to Las Vegas Police Department sources who spoke to The Blast, Jen and Ronnie were on their way home from a barbecue on Sunday afternoon when they got into an argument. Soon enough, Jen started hitting Ronnie in the face as she drove and he sat in the passenger’s seat. Then, the car ran over something in the road and blew a tire. As Ronnie attempted to exit the vehicle, Harley revved the engine and took off, dragging Ronnie behind him and giving him severe road rash. So that would be how one assaults a man the size of Ronnie: you use an object that’s even larger than he is. There are a few conflicting reports about exactly what went down between these estranged stars, however. The Blast, for example, quotes a source who says “a call came into police from a caller who indicated that there was a suspicious vehicle with two flat tires on the side of the road and a bleeding man standing outside who was trying to pull the female out of the vehicle.” Trying to pull a female out of the vehicle?!? We hadn’t heard anything about that before. All we know is that Jen was the person who got arrested for domestic battery, not Ronnie; which is not to say he was totally innocent. We can’t say for certain what led to this fight or precisely how physical each side got with the other. But we can verify this disturbing fact: the occasional couple’s two-month old daughter, Ariana, was in the car at the time of the fracas. Yikes. Harley and Ronnie welcomed their only child into the world on April 2. Just a few weeks later, they went back and forth over social media in an especially ugly spat, one that centered around both being accused of infidelity and Ronnie slamming Jen – THE MOTHER OF HIS NEWBORN! – as a ” cum dumpster .” Shortly after this public tiff, footage surfaced of Ronnie threatening Harley. With his words, yes. But seemingly getting close to doing so with his fists, as you can see down below here: Ronnie Magro Gets Into Altercation with Jen Harley Earlier this month, cops were also called after Harley and Magro-Ortiz got into a heated argument at Planet Hollywood while Ortiz-Magro was shooting season 2 of Jersey Shore Family Vacation. Somehow, despite all this drama, the two have attempted to remain a couple. We guess this is sort of admirable, assuming they were doing so for the sake of their toddler. But we’re way past admirable now. There’s nothing to commend anyone for when he or she is simply putting a tiny human being in the middle of vicious and violent fights. “It’s better they are apart, and they are slowly realizing that,” a source has told People Magazine. “It will be better for their daughter in the end.” We could not agree more. A second insider told this same publication that Jen and Ronnie are “toxic,” adding: “When things are good, they’re good, but when they’re bad, they’re really bad. Ariana Grande responded to an awkwardly phrased fan question by claiming that fiance Pete Davidson’s penis is very large. She got specific. But she insists that, despite shotgun wedding rumors , her appreciation of what Pete is packing hasn’t gotten her pregnant … yet . Pete Davidson already has two Ariana tattoos , but that decorative ink might not be the part of him that’s nearest and dearest to Ariana’s heart. That is smart. She’s a smart young woman. Ariana is such a delightful spirit and she has an amazing sense of humor. So … there’s no way of knowing whether she’s being serious about how well endowed her fiance might be. If he really is sporting a 10-incher, that might help explain their warp-speed engagement. But Ariana is such a savvy Slytherin (just look at her uniform above), and it’s entirely possible that she said this to steer the conversation away from her vacant uterus and towards her fiance’s crotch. There’s nothing wrong with that. She filled her fans with delight. Not unlike how Pete presumably fills … you know what? Never mind.
