Billy Burke, a.k.a. Dad Charlie Swan, tells MTV News he’s mostly ‘oblivious to everything that’s going on with vampires’ on set. By Kara Warner Billy Burke Photo: MTV News It’s been awhile now since we’ve had any updates from the castmembers of the highly anticipated “Breaking Dawn” two-part finale. Thus far this year, there have been steamy bedroom photos , talk of Kristen Stewart’s impressive transformation into a vampire and Peter Facinelli’s thoughts on an epic vampire-on-vampire battle scene at the end of Part 2. When MTV News caught up with “Breaking Dawn” supporting player Billy Burke recently, he reluctantly gave us the vaguest of answers when we asked about his favorite filming moment so far. “We are having a lot of fun,” Burke said while doing press for his upcoming violent thriller “Drive Angry.” “We’re in the midst of that now.” Burke, who plays the (mostly) blissfully ignorant father Charlie to Kristen Stewart’s Bella, said his character is up to the same old tricks in the final two “Twilight” films. “I go back in about a week to continue my job in that movie,” he said. “Which is being oblivious to everything that’s going on with vampires and werewolves.” Those familiar with the vampire films will agree that this is a fair and accurate assessment of his character’s story line. Still, we assumed that surely Burke has been privy to a few fun details, so we asked whether his character, Charlie Swan, finds out that his daughter has become a vampire in “Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” “In the first part? No,” Burke revealed. “That’s no secret, [for] those who have read the books,” he explained. What about Bella’s wedding dress? Has he seen that yet? “No,” Burke said with finality, declining to divulge any more “Dawn” details. But at Thursday night’s (June 24) premiere of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” Robert Pattinson tried his best. The dreamboat vampire walked the black carpet in a maroon Gucci suit, while his werewolf rival Taylor Lautner played it safe in a classic black suit/ skinny tie combo. Among the ladies, muted colors and embellishments reigned supreme. Human star Kristen Stewart chose a white, one-sleeve Elie Saab minidress with a fierce cutout back. Her bestie, Dakota Fanning, also wore Elie Saab, though the Volturi guard went much more feminine in a short, flirty, nude-colored look with lace and feather accents. Fellow evil vampire Bryce Dallas Howard also went lacy in her long, mustard Dior frock, which was a rare spot of color amid a sea of neutrals. Also in the neutral camp was Ashley Greene, looking gorgeous in a light-blue column dress by Alexis Mabille Couture. Several castmembers wore Marchesa: Nikki Reed’s feathered number looked a tad Ice Capades chic (though she brought the ultimate accessory — her adorable little brother), while new wolf pack member Julia Jones shined in a silver, beaded strapless dress. A couple of Cullen men looked dapper with their “90210” star significant others. Kellan Lutz echoed Taylor with a simple black suit and skinny tie, while girlfriend AnnaLynne McCord opted for a form-fitting champagne Nicole Miller and neutral makeup. Fellow Cullen Clan member Peter Facinelli also donned a black pinstripe suit, which complemented wife Jennie Garth’s metallic Marchesa and bright lipstick. Metallics also seemed to be a hit, with Catalina Sandino Moreno in a belted, big-shouldered gunmetal-gray dress and Anna Kendrick in a ruffled olive frock. Part 1 of the final chapter is set for release on November 18, 2011. By Kara Warner Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in “Eclipse” Photo: Summit Entertainment Confirming what many have speculated for months, Summit Entertainment officially announced Thursday (June 10) that “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” will be released as two separate films. The first of the two films is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 18, 2011. The release date for the second film was not announced. With one major question answered, a few others have been raised. Specifically, where will the filmmakers choose to end the first film and begin the second? Will either film jump on the increasingly popular 3-D bandwagon? Academy Award winner Bill Condon has signed on to direct both films, and after negotiating their various contracts , all the main players will be back — Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner, along with Billy Burke as Charlie Swan, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Jackson Rathbone, Nikki Reed, Ashley Greene, and Kellan Lutz — to finish the final chapter of the hugely popular franchise. Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg , who has written all the “Twilight” films thus far, is writing both parts of “Breaking Dawn.” Rosenberg promised fans earlier this year that despite the book having graphic scenes of childbirth and sex, “Breaking Dawn” will be rated PG-13. “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” will start production in the fall.
