‘Dark Knight Rises’ Prologue Debate Gets ‘Nerdy’

In this week’s ‘Talk Nerdy to Me,’ the team tackles the Batman prologue, the latest ‘Ender’s Game’ casting and more. By Josh Wigler Photo: Warner Bros. Pictures After a weeklong hiatus, “Talk Nerdy to Me” is back in action with all of your comic book, movie and TV needs. From today’s official announcement of the “Dark Knight Rises” prologue to a special cameo from Daniel Day-Lewis’ Abraham Lincoln beard, this week’s “Talk Nerdy” has it all. Keep reading for a taste of what you’ll see this week, and watch the episode in the video below! “Dark Knight” Prologue Confirmed Now that the news is official, the Talk Nerdy team is left wondering what Christopher Nolan’s “Dark Knight Rises” prologue might entail. Are we in store for a “Batman Begins”-inspired montage? Might we see the death of a popular character from the Caped Crusader’s supporting cast? We floated a few of our own theories, however ridiculous, in this week’s episode. “Ender’s” Cast The wheels are most certainly in motion for “Ender’s Game,” director Gavin Hood’s big-screen adaptation of the beloved Orson Scott Card novel. “Hugo” star Asa Butterfield has been confirmed to play the titular Ender, and there are talks of “True Grit” actress Hailee Steinfeld and the legendary Harrison Ford joining the cast as well. Great actors, to be sure, but are they the right ones for the project? Find out what Nerdy’s Brian Phares thinks about the upcoming project. The “Game of Thrones” Blu’s When you play the “Game of Thrones,” you win or you die. But when it comes to the HBO fantasy show’s upcoming Blu-ray collection, it looks like we’re all going to win. The Blu-ray was announced earlier this week, and the details are bound to have fans of the franchise foaming at the mouth. The Nerdy team geeked out over the upcoming collection, especially the announced “Creating the Dothraki Language” feature. Spider-Leak, Spider-Leak The weekend box office is dry in terms of new wide releases, so we recommend you just go ahead and see “The Muppets” again. It’s that good! In lieu of our normal box-office report, this week’s Talk Nerdy focused on the infamous “Amazing Spider-Man” Lizard leak from earlier in the week. Needless to say, the team was not impressed. Larry Davis Biopic Gets The Greenlight

Read the original:

The 25th anniversary of Larry Davis’ infamous gun battle with 30 New York City police officers which left six injured is this coming Saturday. As New Yorkers reminisce about the events that sparked a 17 day manhunt for the South Bronx criminal, Epoch Motion Pictures grabbed television writer, Kevin Arkadie , to draft the screenplay for Davis’ biopic. Arkadie is known for penning and producing episodes of cop dramas, “NYPD Blue,” “New York Undercover,” “The Shield.” After acquiring the rights to the controversial figure’s life story earlier in the year, executive producer and Epoch head honcho, Anderson Villen stated, “We feel there’s no one else that understands the subtleties and nuances of this project more than Kevin. He helped usher urban culture into the mainstream as writer/creator of New York Undercover and his 20+ year career is testament to his ability to capture the inner-city experience.” Larry Davis’ story is meant for the big screen. For those unaware, Davis was tried and acquitted of murder three times before being convicted for weapons possession and an unrelated murder case. According to Variety.com , production is set to begin shooting in the summer of 2012 in the South Bronx. Kristen Stewart’s Big ‘Nerdy’ Week

The ‘Breaking Dawn’ star’s ‘Snow White’ trailer and possible ‘Akira’ casting are hot topics on ‘Talk Nerdy to Me.’ By Josh Wigler Kristen Stewart in “Snow White & The Huntsman” Photo: Universal Kristen Stewart is having a big week. Not only is she kicking off the first of her final two “Twilight” films with Friday’s (November 18) release of “Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” she also set the geek world on fire with her “Snow White and the Huntsman” trailer and reports that she could join the cast of “Akira,” based on the beloved Katsuhiro Otomo anime and manga of the same name. But the reactions to those two projects have been decidedly mixed — as with all things, there’s some good and some bad — so it’s up to us to dive into those topics and more on this week’s episode of “Talk Nerdy to Me.”Keep reading for a taste of all the “Nerdy”-ness that awaits you this week! KStew Approaches “Akira” News dropped earlier this week that an offer has been made to Stewart to join the cast of “Akira” as Kei, the psychokinetic female lead. It’s not necessarily Stewart’s casting that has fans so up in arms, but the very nature of the project itself: Gone are the Asian influences of the original “Akira,” as Neo-Tokyo is renamed Neo-Manhattan and an all-Japanese cast is turned into an all-white one, among other grievances. “Nerdy” resident fanboy Brian Phares and MTV Geek’s Alex Zalben were divided on their feelings on the “Akira” adaptation; find out what they had to say in this week’s episode. Kristen’s Total “Snow” Out While not everyone is on-board with Stewart approaching “Akira,” the support for her work in “Snow White and the Huntsman” is unanimous. Kristen’s debut as the fairy-tale-princess-turned-cunning-warrior electrified the Web last Thursday and continues to impress over a week later. But Stewart’s not the only fairest maiden around: Lily Collins made her Snow White debut in the “Mirror, Mirror” trailer, which has not been as warmly received … with the exception of one “Talk Nerdy” host (definitely not yours truly, you guys), who can’t contain his excitement for Tarsem Singh’s next movie. (Seriously, I’m really pumped.) Doctor Potter Moving away from Kristen for a moment, the nerdosphere was taken by surprise this week with the announcement that “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” director David Yates would be launching a big-screen take on “Doctor Who,” the popular BBC television series that’s been around for nearly 50 years now. There’s some skepticism that this vision of “Who” will ever see theaters, though Zalben, our resident “Who” expert, has a different take on the news. Men of Steel, Too! In other surprising movie news, rumors emerged this week that “Man of Steel” is already ramping up its sequel. Warner Bros. is reportedly seeking writers for a follow-up to Zack Snyder’s Superman film — a year and a half ahead of that movie’s June 2013 release, mind you — and Team Nerdy pondered whether it’s just too early to look so far ahead. “Breaking” the Box Office We closed out this week’s episode with another round of Stewart-related goodness, examining the box-office prospects for “Breaking Dawn.” Spoiler alert: It’s going to make a metric you-know-what ton of money. We also looked ahead at next week’s new releases and vocalized our support for the return of the “Muppets.” Get all of our box-office analysis in this week’s “Talk Nerdy.” Tell us what you thought of this week’s “Talk Nerdy to Me” in the comments section! “Tot Mom” Casey Anthony Narrowly Misses Being Murked After Assassin Discovers Her Safe House

Cotdamn there is a lot of failed assassinations going down today. People still want Casey Anthony dead and somebody came awfully close to doing her in. Casey Anthony is lucky to be alive after allegedly surviving an assassination attempt at her Florida safe house. Casey’s ‘panic-stricken’ bodyguards had to pull her out of the firing line and whisk her to an emergency hideout in the middle of the night before an assassin ‘put a bullet through her brain’, The National Enquirer reported. Casey, who has been dubbed America’s most-hated mom, has been in hiding since she was released from jail following a shock not guilty plea at the murder trial of her daughter Caylee on July 5. Despite efforts by her crack security team to protect her, a hit man allegedly located her hideout and stuck a death warrant to her door saying: ‘I know where you are, I’m coming to put a bullet through your brain.’ The Enquirer said it was eerily similar to an email threat the 25-year-old’s bodyguards previously received saying: ‘I want her dead! if she knew where she was I would do it myself!’ She was released from jail on July 17 and since then, thousands of hate mail and threatening emails have been pouring in to her lawyers’ offices from all over the world. The threatening message – which was allegedly pinned to the door – was said to ‘set off a complete panic’ and the security team had to assume that Casey’s head would be blown off the moment she stepped outside the house. The Lifetime cable network is developing a possible TV movie about the sensational murder trial of Casey Anthony. Fox Television Studios optioned the film and television rights to the book Imperfect Justice: Prosecuting Casey Anthony, written by retired prosecutor Jeff Ashton. It’s not known when the project, which is said to be in the early stages, will air. Variety reports that Lifetime has not greenlit the film yet. In the book, Ashton takes jabs at Anthony’s defense lawyers and jurors, calling lead defense attorney Jose Baez ‘smarmy’ and displaying an unflattering view of the jurors. According to People, the film would tell the story from the prosecution’s point of view, detailing the three years Ashton and his team spent preparing and prosecuting the Florida mother. A source told the Enquirer: ‘There are plenty of people who want to kill Casey because they believe she got away with murdering little Caylee. ‘Her bodyguards rushed her off in the middle of the night to another safe house a prearranged safe hideout that was available in the event of such an emergency.’ The insider said decoy vehicles were also used so the ‘killer’ would not know which one Casey was in, as they are said to realize how determined Casey’s enemies are to kill her and had to take every precaution. ‘The fact she is still hidden and still alive is testimony to just how good her team of bodyguards are. They’re the best, but it was a very close call.’ Because of the terms of her probation for check fraud, Casey must stay in Florida for one year and report every month to a probation officer. This is not the first time her security team have moved her. According to the Enquirer, she was first hidden on St George Island off the coast of northwest Florida before allegedly being moved to a rural location near Gainsville and a condo in New Smyrna Beach. This chick has some crazy luck… First she narrowly avoids. prison, then she avoids being murked. Source More On Bossip! Bossip Exclusive: Dwyane Wade Dirty Dog Chronicles Part 2! For Your Information: 7 Of The Worst Paying Jobs That STILL Require A College Degree

With the economy as bad as it is, even having a college degree isn’t enough to get by… College graduates with student loans owed an average of $25,250 in 2010, an all-time high and a 5 percent increase, according to a recent report. What makes matters worse is that students graduating in 2010 faced unemployment of 9.1 percent, the highest annual rate on record, according to the Project on Student Debt’s report. Given the grim figures facing college graduates, 24/7 Wall St. reviewed wage data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics to identify the seven occupations that require at least a college degree and pay the least. Jobs that pay poorly and require a college degree or higher have at least one thing in common: the wrong industry. Some industries, including those in mental health, academic research, the arts and publishing tend to pay poorly. The entry level jobs in these fields and on this list do not pay well. Reporters starting out make less than $20,000 per year. Many of the people employed in the jobs on our list will have a hard time paying off their student loans. The occupations on the list earn less than $40,000 annually. In every case, jobs paid far less to start. A quarter of the people employed as survey researchers, for example, earn less than $24,000 annually. 24/7 Wall St. examined wage data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Occupational Employment Statistics Database, to identify the major occupations that make less than $40,000 annually. BLS’s Occupational Outlook Handbook was used to identify educational requirements and long-term job prospects. O*Net Online, an independent career research and advisory site, was used to determine the percentage of people in each occupation with a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD. The seven occupations on our list required a bachelor’s degree or more from most employers. Our best suggestion for those going about to go to college would be to pick a major that you’re passionate about with the understanding that it may be tough for a few years while you attempt to move up past entry level. For those who are about to graduate college, you may want to think about grad school and additional forms of education…just a thought. Source Flip the script to see the list…

Justin Timberlake Almost Landed On Drake’s Take Care

‘That was the one person that I was sorta like, ‘Damn!’ but we’ll get it though,’ Drizzy says of working with JT. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Timberlake Photo: Frank Micelotta/ Getty Images A year ago, Drake spoke to MTV News about the possibility of working with Justin Timberlake , saying that he had built a “rapport” with the pop superstar. With Drizzy’s new album Take Care out this week, however, it’s clear the two didn’t actually end up getting that rapport on tape. But in the latest issue of Billboard, the Canadian MC says that he and Timberlake came pretty close to making a collaboration happen. “I really wanted to work with Justin Timberlake on this project and we came so close, man, so close. He’s just super busy, and not in the music mindset right now as far as creating,” he revealed. In the 12 months since Drake first talked to us about working with the star, Timberlake has forged a real-deal Hollywood career, with roles in movies like “The Social Network” and “Friends With Benefits.” “The song was gonna be dope,” the rapper said of the track, which was reportedly set to be produced by Noah “40” Shebib. “It was solid, a solid little look. But he’s so immersed in the acting thing, and I don’t blame him, he’s doing great at it. He was just like, ‘I really want to work. I just can’t do it right now. But we’ll work as soon as I’m back in the studio.’ ” And Drake is holding out hope it’ll happen one day. “He gave me his word on that, so I’m looking forward to [working] with him,” he said. “Even just giving him some ideas, writing, him working with [40], I think that would just sound crazy — Justin Timberlake and 40. “Half the time, I just want artists to work on 40’s beats; I don’t even really want to intrude, I just want to hear them,” the rapper added. “40 has so many ideas, and I’d love to hear an artist like Justin Timberlake to see what he and 40 could come up with. But that was the one person that I was sorta like, ‘Damn!’ but we’ll get it though.” Share your reviews of Drake’s Take Care in the comments below! Related Artists Drake Justin Timberlake
