Diddy Says ‘Hello, Good Morning’ To ‘Good Morning America’

Diddy-Dirty Money perform their latest in Central Park. By Jayson Rodriguez Diddy performs on “Good Morning America” on June 4 Photo: George Napolitano/ FilmMagic NEW YORK — Diddy is a pretty busy guy these days, as he simultaneously promotes his new film, “Get Him to the Greek,” and his forthcoming album, Last Train to Paris. But the multi-hyphenate entertainer still has more energy than most, as he showed when he and his Diddy-Dirty Money collective took to the stage early Friday morning (June 4) for the “Good Morning America” Summer Concert Series in Manhattan’s Central Park. “I wanna thank y’all for coming out, New York,” Diddy told the gathered crowd during a commercial break. “I know you got work [to go to].” The Bad Boy Records mogul performed his latest single, “Hello, Good Morning,” sans featured guests Rick Ross and T.I. Backed by Dawn Richards and Kaleena, Diddy was upbeat and energetic at an hour when most New Yorkers were sipping their first cup of coffee. “How fly is he/ Your baby mama cry for me like Jodeci,” Diddy rapped over the frenzied track. “So how you not notice me/ Pull up to the club in the coldest V.” Later, he delivered a medley of his past hits, including “Last Night,” “All About the Benjamins” and “Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems.” Diddy’s long-in-the-works album, Last Train to Paris, is set for a June 28 release at midnight following the BET Awards. The music magnate told “GMA hosts Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos that his ” Train music” is “constantly progressive.” Recently, Diddy explained the project was more R&B-based than electro-infused as many had initially believed. The album’s love story is what drives the bulk of the collection, he said. “One of the things we’re trying to represent is emotion,” Diddy told MTV News late last year. “Not being afraid to show emotion on record. A lot of records out right now — no disrespect to them, but they’re all surface. It’s about what people have, or a dance. “All our records are gonna be about love, feelings and emotion,” Diddy continued. ” Last Train to Paris is a love story, and the most vulnerable album I’ve ever been involved in. It’s raw emotion — you get a feeling, a vibe.” What did you think about Diddy’s “GMA” performance? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Diddy-Dirty Money Diddy

Lee DeWyze Says There’s Still ‘A Lot To Prove’ On His New Album

‘I’m not here to change the music world,’ the ‘American Idol’ champ tells MTV News. By James Montgomery Lee DeWyze Photo: MTV News It’s been exactly one week, but Lee DeWyze still can’t believe he won “American Idol.” The words seem strange even coming out of his mouth. “Yeah, it’s weird to say it, man,” he told MTV News on Wednesday (June 2). “I’m lovin’ it, to be sure, but man, it feels weird to say ‘ “American Idol” champion.’ ” To further illustrate that point, DeWyze said he can’t really remember how he felt — or what he did — when “Idol” host Ryan Seacrest announced that he’d been crowned the champ of season nine. It’s all just one rather glorious, delirious blur. “I was lost, dude. I didn’t know where I was! It was so crazy and intense, because everything we’ve done had led up to that point. And it was like, ‘And the winner is … ‘ And then there’s like the six-month pause, and then he says my name, and I was like, ‘Wow,’ ” he laughed. “It was just a big weight off my shoulders, and it felt amazing. I had it in my head what I would say or do if I won or if I lost, and all of that went out the window. … I’ve watched it back, and I try to remember what it was like. There’s some parts I don’t really remember. I remember being up there, and then the next thing you know, I was in the room with the press. It was just really fast and nonstop.” And things haven’t really let up since then. There has been the constant promotional cycle that comes with winning “Idol” — the performances and the appearances on TV shows — and then the upcoming American Idols Live! Tour. DeWyze doesn’t mind all the fuss that comes with winning the show (“Why would I complain about any of it?” he laughed), but more than anything, he’s really looking forward to getting into a recording studio to begin work on his album — which he’ll do whenever he has a free moment in between tour stops. “The studio and the stage are obviously two completely different things, so it’s going to be interesting to see how going from the live performances to the recording and back is going to pan out, but I’m really looking forward to it, because I’m going to have a lot of say in it,” he said. “I think that’s another misconception about ‘American Idol,’ is that once you go on there, you’re forced to do this or forced to wear that … we’re not. We get a lot of freedom and a lot of say. So I’m just looking forward to making a record I can be proud of.” What will that record sound like? Well, it’s still early, but DeWyze said fans can expect to hear some different sides of him — the kind of stuff he didn’t really get to show off on “Idol.” Though he knows winning the show only raises expectations, he’s ready and willing to take on the task at hand and whatever tasks come after that. “I’m sure there’s going to be elements of pop somewhere in there, there always is, and elements of rock and a folky feel. I’m not trying to go out there and do something that’s never been done. It’s all been done … and I think now, it’s more or less an opportunity for people to show who they are through their music,” he said. “I’m not here to change the music world, but I’m definitely here to show what I can do and express myself through my music. So to do that’s going to be cool, and to prove myself. Because I don’t feel that, just because I won ‘American Idol,’ that, you know, now I’ve made it. There’s a lot to prove still. There’s an album to put out, and I’m looking forward to it. It’s all about the process for me, you know? Just making the album, touring, doing all that stuff and seeing where I’m at in a year from now.” Where do you think Lee will be a year from now? Let us know in the comments! Is J.J. Abrams Pretending to Make a Fake Movie as Cover for Super 8?

Are those super-hot 13-year-old girls who are readying their headshots for the Super 8 casting call actually auditioning for a different , J.J. Abrams-produced movie? According to The Playlist , the new issue of Production Weekly claims that the leaked casting information was for another project, but I’m guessing the industry trade has merely stumbled on Abrams’s plan to keep Super 8 secret, because the potentially fake front movie makes this casting call even more inappropriate.

First Look at Frank Miller’s Xerxes Probably Won’t Thrill Iran

Three years ago, the screen adaptation of Frank Miller’s brutal graphic novel 300 became a global smash. Or it was a smash everywhere but Iran, which somehow objected to the depiction of an androgynous, bedazzled Persian king Xerxes laying cruel waste to the scrappy, ab-happy Spartans. The ethnic implications seemed the least of moviegoers’ concerns — not to mention Miller’s own, which have now returned to the mega-pierced monarch for the prequel Xerxes . The author still has a ways to go on the project, but I think we all know a movie adaptation is inevitable. As such, a first look at Xerxes — who makes Mr. T look like the Dalai Lama — clues us in to what will be pissing Iran off in the next two to three years.

Peter Jackson Won’t Replace Guillermo Del Toro On ‘The Hobbit’

‘Lord of the Rings’ director and ‘Hobbit’ producer won’t direct, manager says. By Gil Kaufman Guillermo del Toro Photo: Matt Carr/ Getty Images After years of delays and behind-the-scenes battles, the long-awaited, two-part “Lord of the Rings” prequel is searching for a new director after Guillermo del Toro dropped out of the project over the weekend. One thing seems sure, “LOTR” director and mastermind Peter Jackson, who is producing “The Hobbit” films, doesn’t appear to be in the running to step back into the director’s chair for the project. Jackson’s manager, Ken Kamins, told Entertainment Weekly over the holiday weekend that he spoke to his client about taking over the project. “As for Peter directing, that’s not something he can consider at this time as he has other commitments to other projects,” Kamins said. “But make no mistake, Peter and [producing partner Fran Walsh’s] commitment to the franchise is total and they will do everything necessary to protect the films and the investment made by New Line, [parent company] Warner Bros. and MGM.” Plans called for representatives of the studios to meet this week with Jackson and Walsh to discuss who might step into Del Toro’s shoes. The production of “The Hobbit” has been a long and winding road, and given the huge time commitment to filming two “Hobbit” films back-to-back, Del Toro said in a press release posted on TheOneRing.net on Sunday that he could not wait any longer for filming to start. “In light of ongoing delays in the setting of a start date for filming ‘The Hobbit,’ I am faced with the hardest decision of my life,” he said. “After nearly two years of living, breathing and designing a world as rich as Tolkien’s Middle Earth, I must, with great regret, take leave from helming these wonderful pictures. I remain grateful to Peter, Fran and Philippa Boyens, New Line and Warner Brothers and to all my crew in New Zealand. I’ve been privileged to work in one of the greatest countries on Earth with some of the best people ever in our craft and my life will be forever changed. The blessings have been plenty, but the mounting pressures of conflicting schedules have overwhelmed the time slot originally allocated for the project. Both as a co-writer and as a director, I wish the production nothing but the very best of luck and I will be first in line to see the finished product. I remain an ally to it and its makers, present and future, and fully support a smooth transition to a new director.” Pre-production on the two “Hobbit” movies , currently slated for release in December 2012 and 2013, has been going on for several years. Just last week, Del Toro, 45, told EW that he’s been toiling for two years in New Zealand with Jackson’s team designing the creatures, the sets, the wardrobes and action sequences. Jackson weighed in on the news as well, telling TheOneRing.net, “We feel very sad to see Guillermo leave ‘The Hobbit,’ but he has kept us fully in the loop, and we understand how the protracted development time on these two films, due to reasons beyond anyone’s control — has compromised his commitment to other long term projects. The bottom line is that Guillermo just didn’t feel he could commit six years to living in New Zealand, exclusively making these films, when his original commitment was for three years. Guillermo is one of the most remarkable creative spirits I’ve ever encountered and it has been a complete joy working with him. Guillermo’s strong vision is engrained into the scripts and designs of these two films, which are extremely fortunate to be blessed with his creative DNA. Guillermo is co-writing ‘The Hobbit’ screenplays with Philippa Boyens, Fran Walsh and myself, and happily our writing partnership will continue for several more months, until the scripts are fine tuned and polished. New Line and Warner Bros. will sit down with us this week, to ensure a smooth and uneventful transition, as we secure a new director for ‘The Hobbit.’ We do not anticipate any delay or disruption to ongoing pre-production work.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Hobbit.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .
