Mobb Deep Up For Jay-Z Collabo, Despite Past Beef

‘It’s just hip-hop, man,’ Prodigy tells MTV News’ ‘RapFix Live.’ By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Havoc and Prodigy of Mobb Deep Photo: Natasha Chandel/ MTV News Time heals all wounds. After Jay-Z and Mobb Deep squared off lyrically in 2001, it was hard to imagine that the rap titans would ever get to a place where they would even consider a collaboration. Nothing is in the works, but after working with Roc Nation’s Jay Electronica , Mobb Deep told MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway that they’d be open to the idea of working with Hov. “Tell [ Jay-Z ] to get in the studio,” Prodigy said when he and his partner Havoc appeared on Wednesday’s “RapFix Live.” “He gotta come to Infamous Studios in Queens, though.” Though the two acts threw quite a few barbs at each other, most notably on Jay-Z’s “Takeover” and Mobb Deep’s “Crawlin’ ” 10 years ago, Prodigy was recently featured on a track with Hov’s signee Jay Electronica on his “Call of Duty” track. On the song’s hook, Prodigy even spits, “Put your diamonds in the sky, wave ’em side to side/ Get juxed for your shine,” a double-sided lyric that evokes the spirit of a robbery and makes a play on Jay’s diamond-shaped hand gesture that he throws up at all his shows. Mobb Deep even recorded the song at Jigga’s Roc Da Mic studios in Manhattan; they clearly harbor no ill will. After Electronica attempted to reach Prodigy on Twitter, the Queens MC got the word that the Hov prot

Lloyd Banks 20 Songs Into His Next Album

‘I completed my situation with EMI and going right back to the drawing board,’ G-Unit MC tells ‘RapFix Live.’ By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Lloyd Banks and Sway Photo: Natasha Chandel/ MTV News Lloyd Banks still hungers for more. Last year, the G-Unit rapper dropped his third album, The Hunger For More 2, and during Wednesday’s “RapFix Live” one-year anniversary show , Banks revealed to host Sway that he is well into the recording process for his next album. Whether it will come out on EMI, where he released his last LP, is uncertain. “I’m in between situations now. I completed my situation with EMI and going right back to the drawing board,” LB said. “I’ve been working constantly to just make music for my mixtape series and, at the same time, for my next album. I’m about 18 to 20 records into my next album already.” Actually, Banks was just being modest. While he is getting ready to release his Cold Corner 2 mixtape in the coming weeks, he told Sway that he has quite a few tapes already completed. “I got a couple of mixtapes done. Actually, I had the Cold Corner done for a second, but I just put it off because I could,” he said nonchalantly. “I needed more time to work on everything else. I didn’t want to keep on givin’ ’em a date, givin’ ’em a date and pushin’ it back like it’s an album.” Banks is quite confident about the tape: “It’s a mixtape at the end of the day, but it will be the best mixtape that comes out, hands down, this year.” With all the tracks he has already recorded, fans can surely expect a handful of collaborations. Banks didn’t reveal any upcoming features, but when a fan tweeted a question, asking if the Queens, New York, spitter would partner up with onetime G-Unit foe Nas, Banks couldn’t say for sure but didn’t rule it out. “I don’t know,” he said. “I’ll be down for it, though. Nas is a legend.” Related Videos ‘RapFix Live’ Anniversary Special With Lloyd Banks, Consequence, More Related Artists Lloyd Banks

Is This Nas’ New Girlfriend?

Recently divorced rapper Nas was recently spotted out and about with actress Antonique Smith in West Hollywood. Antonique played Faith Evans in the movie Notorious and was recently shouted out by Nas on his single, “Nasty,” when he rhymed, “Maserati, pumpin’ Biggie, the great legend/Blastin’, I’m after the actress who played Faith Evans.” It looks like Antonique took the bait because last month, Antonique told XXL magazine that she wanted to actually meet him in person and maybe “do some music” together: He shouted me out on the song, which I thought was really sweet. I had never met him before and he called me sometime after that and said that he was initially afraid that I’d be upset about it because he wasn’t sure how I took it, but I thought it was sweet. He’s really nice. Word for word, he’s an incredible rapper. I’ve always been a fan and that line is a really dope line. We’re going to do some music together. And Antonique was spotted on the Queens set of his new “Nasty” video. Hmmmmm! Not a bad look for Nas! “Mancaves”: Yay Or Nay?

See the article here:

Just because a couple decides to move in together doesn’t mean that you each need to lose your own personal space. In fact, having your designated “chick spot” and “mancave” can be extremely beneficial in domestic partnerships. Just as I like my closet to be my own place, men want their own nook of the house to make as “bro” as they need to. Surprisingly, however, I have found that there are some people who are against mancaves and feel that living together should mean every room is designed with each other in mind. Here are both sides of the story- let us know what you think! From the “Everyone Needs Their Own Cave” girl : Whether it’s a calender of girls in bikinis or every possible video game known to mankind, men have their own ways of decorating their crash spot. While you might not appreciate their favorite jerseys hung up in the kitchen, leaving their mancave up to them can give you both a sense of independence in your own home. Let him make the basement his own and you will get in fewer arguments about your living arrangements. When he needs to just kick it and do his own thing, you’ll feel a lot more comfortable when he goes to the basement to play some pool rather than the local bar. And let’s face it, if he’s going to come home with greasy take out, dirty shoes, and his best guy friends after shooting some hoops, you’d much rather have them enjoy it in his comfort spot rather than on the white living room couches that you just had dry-cleaned. From the “Moving In Together Means Sharing All Of Your Space” girl : If you’re moving in together but you still need designated spots of your own, then you’re not ready to move in together. You should design your house together in a way that both of you are comfortable. Setting up your home so that you can be apart from each other when you can’t stand each other is definitely NOT starting off on the right foot. Instead, make your whole home a comfort zone for both of you and you will find that your entire house is your escape. What are your thoughts on mancaves? It seems to make sense that your own space can provide a sanctuary for you to just kick back. But then again, is designing a mancave setting you up for a relationship with separation and necessary space apart? Fill us in on what you think!! Online Stalking: Helpful Or Hindering? Will 50 Cent Leave Interscope After Next Album?

‘It will all be clear in the negotiations following me turning this actual album in,’ Fif tells MTV News. By Rob Markman 50 Cent Photo: Tiffany Rose/ WireImage After selling millions of records with Interscope, will 50 Cent be looking to jump ship? Anything is possible as the G-Unit head honcho prepares his fifth and final contracted album on the powerhouse label. “I don’t know,” 50 told MTV News when asked if he would ink back with Interscope once his five-album deal was fulfilled. “It will all be clear in the negotiations following me turning this actual album in. And, of course, the performance and how they actually treat the work will determine whether you still want to stay in that position or not.” Last week, on June 16, Fif took his label to task via Twitter when he fired off, “I’m sorry to announce I will not be releasing a new album this year if we don’t get on the same page.” Soon after, he tweeted: “My whole career iv been doing sh– and they have been playing catch up this is the last f—ing album THEY BETTER WAKE UP AND WORK.” Feeling he could no longer wait on the label and that he had to take matters into his own hands, the rapper then went on to release his new street single “Outlaw” later that evening. “It’s not necessarily [Dr.] Dre or [chairman] Jimmy [Iovine]; it’s more the guys that they pass the responsibilities on to,” 50 told MTV News the next day. “It takes longer for people, because they’ll be like, ‘OK, we’re gonna do this and we’re gonna do that,’ and the building will start having those conversations, but they’re not actually moving at that point. “They’re behind it, but to get everybody moving at the same beat and moving at the same pace is the object,” he added. “That was what the goal was even writing that statement and releasing the song.” It’s obvious that for 50, there is a lot riding on this project. He isn’t opposed to re-signing with the record company helmed by Iovine, but he also isn’t opposed to walking away and going independent either. For the Southside Jamaica, Queens, MC, the label support for his upcoming LP will determine his next move. “It’s not like you’re gonna be able to make a project bigger than the actual project is, but if the songs are right and you have full support and you feel that support, why would you want to go anywhere else?” he said. “If not, if you don’t have that support, why would you want to sign to another system? In the financial state that I’m in, you just do it yourself.” In 2010, 50 took his artist Lloyd Banks and signed him to EMI Records , where he structured the deal to operate much like an independent. Banks’ The Hunger for More album has already produced five singles and created a presence for the Queens rapper among his contemporaries. “You’ve seen the success of Lloyd Banks’ project with me being behind him financially,” 50 said. “You can’t tell the difference between him and other artists that are on major record companies.” Do you think 50 should stick with Interscope or go indie? Exclusive: N.O.R.E. Responds To Jumping Account In Prodigy’s Book

‘There are certain things that you’re not supposed to talk about,’ Nore tells MTV News of Mobb Deep MC. By Rob Markman N.O.R.E. Photo: MTV News Despite Prodigy’s account in his new book “My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deep’s Prodigy,” Queens rapper N.O.R.E. insists that he isn’t the shook one he is depicted to be. In the “Hell on Earth” chapter, Prodigy recounts an incident when members of his entourage jumped Nore in front of a Queens club, which led Noreaga and his crew to retaliate immediately with gunfire. For the full excerpt, head to MTV News’ RapFix blog , but here are a few salient lines from Prodigy’s book: “Come over here so we can talk,” [rapper Ty] Nitty told [Nore], putting his arm around N.O.R.E.’s neck and walking him into the street. After a few steps, Nitty started punching N.O.R.E. in the face while he had him in a headlock. N.O.R.E. dropped to the ground and the crew jumped him. Gotti, Havoc, and I stood by the trucks and watched them beat the clothes off that boy. Man, I never saw somebody get jumped so bad! In an exclusive interview with MTV News, Nore — who is dropping the free online mixtape NORE-Easter on Sunday — admitted that some of Prodigy’s accounts are true. Still, he expressed his overall disappointment in the Mobb Deep rapper’s decision to drum up old beefs. “There are certain things that you’re not supposed to talk about,” Nore said. “Now, I didn’t read the book and I don’t read where he’s going crazy. I read the little inserts where he [talked] about the jumping incident. Let me just clear the record up and say: None of the things that it says in the book would ever make me go at him. I’m not gonna see him and try to throw him in the full nelson.” Nore does admit to getting jumped that night in Queens, which he estimates occurred in either 1996 or ’97. “I did get jumped. They jumped me with 40 people,” he recalled. “If you ever see 40 people jump on one man, that one man never gets touched, because most of those 40 people are hitting each other. You can’t hit the target. I got up.” Next is where the two rappers’ accounts differ. In the book, Prodigy said that during the beat-down, N.O.R.E. was stripped of his chain. “I never got robbed in my life,” Nore fired back. Prodigy also said that the “Super Thug” rapper and his crew came back with a TEC-9; Nore said it was a 9mm. In the aftermath of the gunfire, Mobb Deep affiliate Ty Nitty was left shot in the back. “Why would you bring up something where your man got shot?” Nore asked. “I thought you would be cool with Ty Nitty. I like Ty Nitty.” Nore also revealed that he spoke to longtime friend and frequent collaborator Prodigy just a few days ago, and P assured N.O.R.E. that only positive things were written about him in the book. “When I spoke to him the other day, he said, ‘Yo, I only spoke about good things about you in the book, and when you see the book, you’ll realize that,’ ” Nore recalled. “I said, ‘Yo, P, first off, nobody can really make me change on you, because I know you.’ I know him personally. We’re cool. We speak.” The Queens MC doesn’t expect things to change between him and Prodigy, but he felt he had to respond. “I don’t know why he would bring up a situation where they clearly lost,” he said. Tyler The Creator Wants To Take Justin Bieber ‘Egging Cars’

After meeting the Biebs, Odd Future MC tells MTV News he wants them to ‘do fun sh– that I feel like he hasn’t been able to do.’ By Steven Roberts, with reporting by Christopher “CJ” Smith Tyler, the Creator Photo: MTV News Needless to say, Justin Bieber has a lot fans. From Kanye West to Kim Kardashian to nearly every teenage girl in the world, Bieber has amassed quite a dedicated following. But he seems to have picked a rather odd fan along the way as well. Odd Future’s Tyler, the Creator has Bieber Fever in a big way. In fact, hehas called the teenage Canuck his Idol. In the days leading up to the premiere of Bieber’s 3-D movie, “Never Say Never,” Tyler could be found online tweeting down the days until its release. So of course, when the two finally met Tyler was excited. “I WAS JUST WITH JUSITN F—ING BIEBER. F—,” Tyler tweeted . “HE LIKED YONKERS, F—.” Two photos emerged of the two together, one blurry and the other showing both teen sensations posing side-by-side. When MTV News caught up with Tyler — and the rest of Odd Future — at South by Southwest , he still had a huge smile on his face. “We [were] kicking it with him for like 10, 20 minutes. He’s a chill dude. First thing he was like, ‘Oh, I just finished talking about your video, that sh– was crazy,” Tyler said. “He just started asking me questions about my sh–, and it was kind of weird because I was going to ask him sh–. But he was intrigued enough [about] what we had going on.” He also said he showed the Biebs how to pose for their photo. Initially, Bieber threw up the peace sign, but Tyler convinced him to swag it out another way. Bieber was really chill and Tyler hopes they’ll hang out soon. “I want to take him egging cars and f—ing sh– up and paintball and just go skate and go do fun sh– that I feel like he hasn’t been able to do.” What do you think of Tyler and Justin’s budding bromance?
