Arnold Schwarzenegger Reportedly Ready for Last Stand

Back in April it was revealed that Arnold Schwarzenegger was in talks to take the lead role in the The Last Stand , a Western about a broken down sheriff who must stand-up to a drug cartel and save his town. That project got pushed aside by Cry Macho , the fifth Terminator film , and some screaming infidelities , but now Deadline reports it’s back on — with a start-date scheduled for September. It looks like Arnold is back. Again. [ Deadline ]

Prom Actor Graduates to Gay Dude

Nicholas Braun, who starred in a movie you didn’t see called Prom , is toplining a new comedy called Gay Dude . The premise concerns a high schooler named “Michael (Braun), who makes a pact with friend Matty to lose their virginity before graduation — until Matty comes out of the closet.” The good news is that Parks and Recreation scribe (and Mouse Rat band member) Alan Yang handled the script. The bad news is the following analogy could be true: American Pie : Gay Dude :: Road Trip : Boat Trip . Frightening. [ Variety ]

Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Cee-Lo Green Added to Voice Cast of Hotel Transylvania

Because Adam Sandler needed another swimming pool, he’s agreed to voice Count Dracula in Hotel Transylvania . Sandler will be joined by Kevin James (Frankenstein), Steve Buscemi and Molly Shannon (a couple of werewolves), David Spade (Quasimodo) and Cee-Lo Green (Murray the Mummy) in the animated 3-D comedy from Sony. Diablo Cody Will Make Her Directorial Debut with Lady Sinner Comedy Lamb of God

Oscar-winning Juno scribe Diablo Cody will make her directorial debut with Lamb of God , about a conservative woman who loses her faith and goes to Las Vegas to sin it up — which kind of sounds like Kristen Wiig’s character from Paul , only (let’s hope!) even naughtier. Cody also wrote the script and will re-team with producer Mason Novick, who produced Cody-penned films Juno , Jennifer’s Body , and the forthcoming Jason Reitman -directed comedy Young Adult . John Turturro Would Like His Own Big Lebowski Spin-Off

Coen brother stock actor John Turturro told the AV Club that not only would he love to make a big screen spin-off for his Big Lebowski bowler Jesus Quintana, but he has already written up some notes. “Joel and Ethan don’t really want to do it, but if I can get them to approve my outline, which I think they liked there’s a very good chance of making it.” Until then, you’re just going to have to settle for those DirecTV commercials for your Lebowski reunion fix. Disney Star Jake T. Austin to Star Opposite Joel Courtney in Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn

Now that he’s done filming the Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place , star Jake T. Austin can move onto the next logical step: playing one of the greatest literary protagonists of the past 200 years. Austin will play Huck Finn to Super 8 newcomer Joel Courtney’s Tom Sawyer in Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn , which will start shooting in — wait for it — Bulgaria this August. I suppose the material is ready for Disney alum treatment now that its pesky slurs have been eradicated. Should “Nickelodeon” also join the list of banned words? [ Variety ]

So there’s this animated Danish movie called The Great Bear that has been quietly making the festival rounds. I only today accidentally discovered the trailer, whose accompanying synopsis promises quite the story. But it’s the animation itself that has me wondering what kind of legend The Great Bear has in store for it.

Douglas Booth Cast as Romeo Opposite Hailee Steinfeld’s Juliet

A lesser person would make a joke about Hailee Steinfeld finding her Romeo . Fear not, though; you’re in good hands. Variety reports that Douglas Booth has been cast in the upcoming adaptation of Romeo & Juliet from Gosford Park writer Julian Fellowes. The 19-year-old reportedly beat out 300 other actors for the chance to call Juliet the sun. Congrats, handsome! Steinfeld, Holly Hunter, Ed Westwick and Kodi Smit-McPhee round out the motley crew of a cast. [ Variety ]

Deadline reports that Elba — last seen onscreen as Heimdall in Thor — has landed the lead role opposite Charlie Hunnam in Guillermo del Toro’s sci-fi blockbuster Pacific Rim . Fabulous!
