‘Captain America’ Clip: Chris Evans Is Skinny But Heroic

Evans himself presents exclusive sneak peek on MTV and MTV.com. By Kara Warner Chris Evans as Steve Rogers in “Captain America: The First Avenger” Photo: Paramount Pictures On Thursday (July 14), Captain America himself, Chris Evans, presented an exclusive new clip from his highly anticipated caped crusade “Captain America: The First Avenger” on MTV and MTV.com. The clip opens with fan-favorite actors Tommy Lee Jones and Stanley Tucci, in the roles of Colonel Chester Phillips and Dr. Abraham Erskine, walking through an Army base, watching a group of recruits in their basic-training exercises. Phillips is talking to Erskine about their new unimpressive recruit Steve Rogers (a skinny Evans, pre-super serum and superhero status), who looks to be having trouble with his jumping jacks. “When you brought a 90-pound asthmatic onto my Army base, I let it slide. I thought, ‘What the hell? Maybe he’d be useful to you like a gerbil,’ ” Phillips says to Erskine about Rogers, before stopping to watch him. “Look at that — he’s making me cry.” Phillips points out another stronger recruit jumping alongside Evans, who boasts impressive scores in every military test they’ve given him. Erskine calls him a bully, but Phillips doesn’t care. “You don’t win wars with niceness, Doctor; you win wars with guts,” he says before tossing a grenade into the group to see how they react. All the recruits scramble away to safety, except for Rogers, who jumps on the grenade himself to protect everyone else. The grenade turns out to be a dummy. “Is this a test?” Rogers asks his senior officers, after showcasing an early glimpse of the hero he is to become. “He’s still skinny,” Phillips says, seemingly unimpressed, to a smiling Erskine. ‘Harry Potter’ Stars Offer Advice To Younger Selves

‘Just enjoy every day of it,’ Rupert Grint tells his 12-year-old self. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Rupert Grint Photo: MTV News After eight films, 10 years, millions of fans won over and billions of dollars made, we could talk about the “Harry Potter” films and their famous castmembers forever. Their incredible evolution from kids to young adults, the number of esteemed adult British actors who made appearances in the films over the years, the undying love from a dedicated and loyal fanbase and so on. When MTV News sat down with Rupert Grint and Tom Felton recently, we asked them if, when looking back at the incredible journey they’ve been on for so long, they have any advice they would offer their young selves when they first joined the cast in 2000. “I should have a witty answer prepared, but I don’t,” Felton admitted. “I guess I’d just say, ‘Enjoy it and try to take in as much as you can.’ There’s nothing I’d change, to be honest with you. “I’ve had a good time over the years,” Felton added. “I wouldn’t change a day of it. [I’d] just take a bit more in. When you’re 12 or 13, you don’t care about anything. You just want to go home and play PlayStation, so there are definitely some memories I wished I’d taken in.” Grint echoed Felton’s sentiments: “Yeah, [I’d tell myself to] enjoy it,” he said. “I would never imagine 10 years from then we would be talking about the eighth film. I didn’t even see past two, really. It’s just been this gradual thing. Yeah, just enjoy every day of it.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . ‘Harry Potter’ Producer ‘Can’t Wait To Read’ J.K. Rowling’s Writing

‘She delivers when she’s ready and that’s it,’ David Heyman tells MTV News about the author’s next project. By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Daniel Radcliffe, J.K. Rowling, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint Photo: Jon Furniss/ WireImage When it comes to singling out the one person most responsible for the “Harry Potter” films actually getting made, author J.K. Rowling has long credited producer David Heyman for convincing her that the big screen was the right way to go. Now, with the final movie, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2,” just a day from hitting theaters, Rowling can have her pick of projects. But while she has admitted to writing recently, she won’t say what specifically, and her Pottermore website is still a mystery. According to Heyman, it’s likely she’ll try to keep it things top-secret for as long as possible. “One of the gifts of ‘Harry Potter’ [success] for her, and I suppose for me in some ways, is it’s bought us time. I know that when she was writing the first few ‘Harry Potter,’ the pressure to deliver the fourth and fifth — but particularly the fourth — on a schedule, was difficult and traumatic in some ways, and it wasn’t pleasurable,” Heyman told MTV News. “Now, she doesn’t have that pressure. She finishes when she is ready to finish. She delivers when she’s ready and that’s it. She’s writing and I’m sure there’ll be something and I can’t wait to read it.” Though Heyman played coy on whether he already knows what Rowling’s next project will be, he said he would support her in whatever she ventures into. In fact, he seemed ready to follow wherever she might lead him. “For me, I really want to be involved in adapting Jo’s fiction,” Heyman said. “If she does write another ‘Potter’ book, I will be there to work on it. It’s been a fantastic thing to be a part of, a real privilege. But really, it all begins with Jo, so if it’s not Jo, there’s no point.” Would you like to see J.K. ‘Harry Potter’ Finale: Why Did Rupert Grint Walk Out?

‘It is really sad,’ he tells MTV News of ‘Deathly Hallows, Part 2.’ By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Rupert Grint Photo: MTV News Spoiler alert: “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” is a tearjerker. While fans already expected to walk into the theater Friday with a box of tissues in hand, the “Potter” stars were a bit surprised to find that watching the final film in the series could bring them to tears — or at least make them choke up. Viewers will likely find the movie emotional on two levels, because the story itself has tragic elements and because its release marks the end of a decade-long film series. Even though the actors finished filming the movie more than a year ago, they said there were still scenes in “Deathly Hallows, Part 2” that made them fight back tears. Rupert Grint said that, despite the fact he’s seen the movie twice, he had to walk out of the theater during the London premiere last week. “I caught a bit. It is really sad,” he told MTV News.”There’s a scene where all three of us are on the bridge after the battle, the castle is on fire … there’s a weird parallel between that and our lives. That always gets me.” For Tom Felton, it was the epilogue scene that concludes the movie that almost brought him to tears. That scene has especial emotional resonance for him because his real-life girlfriend, Jade Olivia, plays the wife of his character Draco in the flash-forward sequence. But it was actually Daniel Radcliffe’s scene between Harry and his children at King’s Cross station that affected him the most. “There was something really nice about seeing Daniel with his kids at the end. I really thought Daniel did a marvelous job of being older. I got a bit emotional about that,” Felton said. “Even though it’s funny, it was really quite sad to think that, ‘Christ, our lives have flashed before our eyes. We’re old!’ ” Radcliffe also told MTV News that he found scenes in the film “heartbreaking,” especially Alan Rickman’s performance during Severus Snape’s flashback sequence . Beyond the film, Felton said he nearly cried during Radcliffe, Grint and Emma Watson’s heartfelt goodbye speeches at the London premiere last week. He had to talk himself through it, saying, “Just keep it together, Tom, just keep it together,” but according to the “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” actor, it was a close call. “[The speeches] were really quite special,” he said. “I was really touched by that. I could have easily let myself go.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . ‘Harry Potter’ Kissing Scene ‘Tricky’ For Rupert Grint

‘We had to look like we wanted to do it, when in reality we really didn’t,’ he tells MTV News of lip-lock with Emma Watson. By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Rupert Grint Photo: MTV News While fans have long been waiting for Ron and Hermione to lock lips in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2,” Rupert Grint and Emma Watson have said that it was not so much fun to film the highly anticipated scene. And, according to Grint, it was not any easier watching said kiss on the big screen — “especially in 3-D.” MTV News caught up with the “Harry Potter” star over the weekend, and he seemed to find it just as difficult discussing the scene now as he and Watson did after they filmed it in 2009. In fact, Grint couldn’t even remember how many takes of the kiss they had to go through before director David Yates finally yelled, “Cut!” “I have no memory of that day. I’ve kind of erased it,” Grint said. “I think it was about four.” After seven films of buildup, Grint’s Ron Weasley and Watson’s Hermione Granger finally culminate the romance that has been budding since their characters first met inside the Hogwarts Express. But as Hermione and Ron grew to love one another romantically, Watson and Grint became more like brother and sister, making the snogging scene all the weirder for them. “It was a tricky one, because it had to be believable. We had to look like we wanted to do it, when in reality we really didn’t,” Grint said. “We were soaking [in the scene], and that kind of made it a little bit easier, I think, because it was kind of this outburst of adrenaline.” When MTV News chatted with Watson about the kiss back in 2009, she echoed similar uncomfortable sentiments. In fact, she said she was so nervous during the first take of the kiss that she ended up pouncing on Grint in order to get the scene over with. “The only good side to it was the fact that we were both in the same boat,” Watson said. “We were both just like, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe we have to do this. This is so awkward. Really awkward.’ So I could take comfort in the fact that Rupert felt the same way. We were both giggling. We were like 12-year-olds. We were like giggling children, where you just couldn’t keep it together.” We’re streaming live from the red carpet at the New York premiere of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” on Monday (July 11) at 4:30 p.m. ET.
