The verdict was handed down moments ago after two days of deliberations. Balfour was convicted of 1st degree murder in the deaths of Jennifer’s mom Darnell Donerson, her brother Jason Hudson, and nephew Julian King. Balfour was also convicted of home invasion and residential burglary. Jennifer Hudson was present in court when the verdict was read. 31-year-old Balfour stands convicted of the triple murder after allegedly flying into a blind and jealous rage in 2008 — over a balloon gift for Julia Hudson, Balfour’s ex and Jennifer’s sister. Prosecutors say Balfour thought the gift was from Julia’s new boyfriend and he snapped. He faces life in prison. Today seems like a long time coming for Jennifer Hudson and the rest of her family. They have all had to go through such a traumatic and sad ordeal with the murder and trial. We just hope the healing process can begin now that William Balfour has been found guilty. Do you think the sentencing should be life? Or does he deserve the death penalty for these tragic slayings?

Phillip Garrido, Jaycee Dugard Kidnapper, Sentenced to 431 Years in Prison

Jaycee Lee Dugard’s kidnapper Phillip Garrido was sentenced to 431 years in prison today. If only he could serve all of that and then some. His wife Nancy also earned 36 years Thursday in a Placerville, Calif., courtroom. If nothing else, neither should enjoy another second of freedom. The husband and wife both pleaded guilty to kidnapping Jaycee Dugard from a Lake Tahoe, Calif., bus stop when the poor girl was just 11. Jaycee was held as a prisoner in their backyard for 18 years and was raped repeatedly, giving birth to two daughters over that time. He impregnated Jaycee for the first time when she was just 13, and again at age 16 and she gave birth both times to daughters. Since her miraculous discovery and escape, she lives with her mom and the two girls. You have to see this 2009 Jaycee Dugard photo . Jaycee was not in the court for the sentencing, but her mother Terry Probyn read a statement from her before the sentencing:

Ja Rule Pleads Guilty To Tax Evasion

Rapper, who is headed to jail on a weapons charge, admitted that he failed to pay taxes on $4 million in income. By Gil Kaufman Ja Rule Photo: Mark Mainz/Getty Images Queens rapper Ja Rule pleaded guilty to tax evasion in federal court in New Jersey on Tuesday, admitting that he had failed to pay taxes on more than $4 million in income. According to the Associated Press , the platinum-selling MC (born Jeffrey Atkins) earned the money between 2004 and 2006 while he lived in an upscale northern New Jersey enclave. The plea deal included an agreement by prosecutors to dismiss two counts of unpaid taxes on income earned in 2007 and 2008. Rule, 35, will be sentenced on the three remaining tax evasion charges in June and faces up to one year in prison and $100,000 in fines on each count. Ja Rule pleaded guilty to attempted gun possession in December, stemming from a July 2007 arrest, but his prison sentencing was delayed earlier this month so he could get his finances in order. Lil Wayne, who Ja Rule performed with on that July night at the Cash Money star’s Beacon Theater show, was arrested on the same night and eventually served eight months in prison for the same offense. Rule is now slated to be sentenced on June 8 and has agreed to a two-year prison term in that case. At the time of the sentencing postponement, Rule’s lawyer said the delay would allow her client to resolve his tax issue and maybe work on his next musical project as well. “We want to finish the album, and there’s also a tax issue,” lawyer Stacey Richman said. “Somebody, an accountant, had filed an incorrect form, and this is to correct what was done in the past.” Related Artists Ja Rule

Chris Brown hints at Justin Bieber collaboration

NEW YORK (Billboard) – Could a Chris Brown and Justin Bieber duet be debuting the near future? According to the older R&B/pop singer, the two have joined forces for a new song set to premiere early next year. Brown posted a note about the collaboration via Twitter on Christmas Day, writing, “ME and @justinbieber got a BANGER/SMASH record for all the fans out there at the top of the NEW YEAR!!! 2011 #BREEZYTAKEOVER” There’s been no official comment yet from Bieber’s camp about the collaboration, which would be Brown’s most high-profile yet since he plead guilty to assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Rihanna , in 2009. The scandal dealt a major blow to Brown’s career, though the singer has recently made inroads toward a comeback: his current single, “Yeah 3X,” is at No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 . Brown also finished the domestic violence counseling sessions he was required to take as part of his sentencing for the assault, posting a photo of his certificate of completion on Twitter last week. Bieber, meanwhile, has been a fan of Brown’s since before his rise to fame. One of his most popular YouTube videos remains a cover of a Brown’s “With You” performed on acoustic guitar, a clip uploaded in February of 2008. It’s unclear whether the new pairing would for Brown’s next album or Bieber’s, which is already confirmed to include a musical partnering with country group Rascal Flatts .
