Checking In with Jeff Fahey: Apologies, Ambassadorships, and a New Role

From time to time, Movieline likes to check in with actor Jeff Fahey. Wouldn’t you, if given the opportunity? Jeff Fahey is many things: an actor, a dancer trained at the Joffrey Ballet, a humanitarian, and (of course) the Lawnmower Man. You can add one more to that list: Jeff Fahey is a damn good liar! Last time we checked in with him , Fahey swore up and down that his Movieline-beloved character Frank Lapidus had been killed off Lost in an ambiguous submarine explosion, so you can imagine our surprise when he popped up in the series finale to fly most of the main cast off the island, once and for all. Fahey’s been out of the country since then, but now that he’s back, he called up Movieline to apologize for his ruse, discuss the finale, and exclusively announce two bits of good news: an ambassadorship and a part in a new Gary Oldman film.

‘Twilight’ Author Stephenie Meyer ‘Very Happy’ With ‘Eclipse’ Film

‘It’s so much fun to watch,’ she says of the third movie in the series. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Stephenie Meyer Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images When it comes to satisfying “Twilight” expectations, be it those of finicky film critics or easier-to-please Twilighters, no opinion carries more weight than the approval of the series creator herself. When MTV News spoke to celebrated author Stephenie Meyer, she said she is happy to just be the author who only has to come out for big premiere events once a year, versus the actors who are out doing promotion for weeks on end. Also, she is very pleased with the third adaptation of her best-selling series. “Oh, it’s really good,” she said of “Eclipse.” “It’s so much fun to watch. One of the ways I judge a good movie is I forget to be critical because I’m just having fun — and with this one, I definitely was having a good time watching it.” When asked about the decision to go back and re-shoot the infamous and highly anticipated “tent scene,” Meyer said the changes were minor, but necessary in order to fully capture the words and tone that made the scene so memorable in the book. According to Meyer, the result is “really satisfying.” “It was so simple — it was [just] a blocking issue,” Meyer explained of the decision to revisit the pivotal scene. “When Bella and Jacob crawl into the sleeping bag together, he didn’t put his arms around her, he was just kind of backed away from her — I wasn’t [on set] that day to say, ‘Hold it!’ [So] we went back and put that in. I’m very happy with that.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” and “Breaking Dawn.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Lakers Blog: Nobody Knows What Will Happen Tonight

It’s a cliche to say that anything can happen in Game 7, but in this series’ case, it’s true. Not only have the two teams split three games, but they’ve done so in so many different ways. There are no real patterns to this series, leaving tonight’s game as the ultimate ‘Who knows?’ scenario. At least that’s what SB Nation’s Lakers blog Silver Screen and Roll

Christina Aguilera To Sing At NBA Finals Tonight

Singer will perform the national anthem for the second time during the NBA basketball championship series. By Mawuse Ziegbe Christina Aguilera performs the national anthem before game six of the NBA finals on Tuesday Photo: Christian Petersen/Getty Images Christina Aguilera is once again using her formidable pipes to grace the NBA finals: The singer will belt out a rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” at tonight’s seventh and final game of the series. The singer, whose latest album Bionic recently debuted at #3 , on the Billboard albums chart, sang at Game 6 at Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Tuesday (June 15) before the Lakers defeated the Boston Celtics and tied the series. The Lakers — who have lost their last four game-seven matchups to the Celtics — are apparently hoping Aguilera will bring them similar good luck tonight. The singer may be hoping that the Lakers are a good luck charm for her, as she’s had a some rough luck over the past few weeks . Bionic ‘s first-week sales were softer than expected, she recently postponed her tour until next year, and the response to her sexed-up video for the album’s first single, “Not Myself Tonight,” has been mixed. “I don’t know if it’s because she went away for a while, or because she tried to do something different with this project, but it feels a little crass and calculated,” Entertainment Weekly ‘s Leah Greenblatt told MTV News. “From her choice of collaborators [The-Dream, Polow Da Don, Le Tigre] to her first single, it doesn’t feel fully organic. What’s missing so much with her this time out is that, while she can still sing the crap out of her songs, you don’t get a sense of vulnerability, or even really know who she is.” Related Photos The Evolution Of: Christina Aguilera Related Artists Christina Aguilera
