Kevin Costner Will Be ‘Pa’ In ‘Superman,’ Sources Reveal

Reports say Oscar-winner will play Man of Steel’s adoptive father, Jonathan Kent, in Zack Snyder’s reboot. By Shawn Adler Kevin Costner Photo: Getty Images/ Kevin Winter Kevin Costner is a man of interest for the Man of Steel, with director Zack Snyder and team keen to cast the “Bull Durham” and “Dances With Wolves” star in their Superman reboot, according to a Deadline report. Citing “well-placed sources,” Latino Review reported that Costner will play Jonathan “Pa” Kent, Kal-El’s adoptive Earth father. With the film shrouded in secrecy, though, it might take Brainiac himself to figure out exactly for what role Costner is being courted. But, given Costner’s screen history in films like “Field of Dreams,” the role of “Pa,” played by Glenn Ford in Richard Donner’s 1978 “Superman,” seems likely. What little is known about the film suggests Costner also could play the role of Perry White, editor-in-chief of Metropolis mega-paper The Daily Planet , or General Zod, hinted as a companion to a rumored fellow Kryptonian villain. It’s possible Costner might even step into the shoes of fellow Oscar-winners Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey to play archenemy Lex Luthor. Whoever he plays, Costner would be alongside Brit Henry Cavill , pegged to wear the Man of Steel tights in Snyder’s re-imagining. Fans recently got their first glimpse of “The Tudors” star on the cover of Entertainment Weekly sporting a T-shirt with the iconic Superman shield. Kobe Vs. Kanye: The Robert Rodriguez-Directed Black Mamba

NBA All-Star Weekend took Hollywood by storm in more ways than one, introducing Kobe Bryant as the latest athlete to turn actor. Well, sorta: The Kobe-starring short film The Black Mamba , directed by Robert Rodriguez, is a meta, self-aware bit of Nike product placement that envisions Bryant as a grindhouse-style action hero who must contend with the likes of Danny Trejo, Bruce Willis, and Kanye West to defend… a pair of shoes. Watch it after the jump.

Kanye West Vs. Kobe Bryant In Sneaker Showdown

‘I’m the boss!’ ‘Ye yells in ad for Los Angeles Laker’s new Nike kicks. By Jayson Rodriguez Kanye West in Kobe Bryant’s Nike commercial trailer Photo: Nike The Kanye West and Kobe Bryant partnership might have taken a wrong turn somewhere. The pair were photographed in the studio together last year when West was working on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy . The rapper, despite his Chicago roots, also said he wanted to be like the Los Angeles Laker . Over the weekend, however, in a preview of a Nike commercial spot that will debut over the upcoming NBA All-Star Weekend, West (in character) is shown at odds with Bryant in a campaign for the baller’s new sneaker. “Bring him to me!” ‘Ye screams in the clip, which was directed by Robert Rodriguez and also features Bruce Willis. “The Black Mamba ain’t nothing. I’m the boss!” The boss, apparently, wants Kobe’s kicks: In the first clip that ran a week ago, a voiceover opens the spot by saying the NBA champion thought he was on a road trip to Dallas but found himself fighting for his footwear. “Black Mamba, the boss wants your shoes,” veteran actor Danny Trejo tells the high-flying basketball superstar. Bryant is then shown slashing through defenders during a rooftop pickup basketball game and dunking buckets despite playing short-handed. Two years ago, the duo were featured in another campaign for the NBA when West’s “Amazing” was used for the playoff push alongside highlight clips of Bryant, LeBron James and the Celtics’ Ray Allen. Tera Patrick Brings The Good Stuff

Here’s one of my favorite erotic thespians Tera Patrick at something called Vegas’ Sexiest Party at Studio 54 at the MGM Grand over the weekend. Yet another delicious get together with a pornstar filling that the old Tuna wasn’t invited to. Shocking. I’m not all that bad, I could fit in at one of these parties. I’d make sure to be on my best behaviour, I’d keep my hands to myself and I’d make sure to turn off the flash on the cameras taped to my shoes.

The Situation Promises ‘The First Workout DVD That’s Entertaining’

The ‘Jersey Shore’ star says ‘The Situation Workout’ provides humor while you sweat. By James Montgomery, with reporting by Tim Kash The Situation and Tim Kash Photo: MTV News If your post-Hanukkah/pre-Christmas paunch has got you down, don’t worry. The Situation’s got something for that. November saw the expansion of the already formidable empire of the bulging star of MTV’s “Jersey Shore” — which already included an advice book and a line of protein-infused vodka — with the release of a brand-new workout DVD that might be the perfect antidote for too much holiday indulgence and not enough GTL. The DVD is appropriately titled “The Situation Workout,” and, as Sitch told MTV News, that’s about all you really need to know. “I really think it’s just the name in itself. As soon as someone hears the name ‘Situation,’ they’re gonna kind of know that it’s gonna be good,” he said. “It’s really the first workout DVD that’s entertaining. You’re gonna get some humor out of it, and it’s not only a workout, it’s entertaining to watch.” And while you wait to develop that six-pack, you could always draw attention away from your midsection with another Situation product, “shoelery,” as in: jewelry for your shoes. According to the Situation, there’s a vast and untapped market out there for footwear bling, and with the assistance of a company called Luxury Laces, he’s hoping to tap that market. “Nobody’s got that,” he said. “I’m in the process of trying to trademark that.” Of course, in between workouts, you’ll also need to relax. Good thing the new season of “Jersey Shore” premieres on January 6 at 10 p.m. ET on MTV. Related Videos The Situation’s Got What You Need

Nicki Minaj Sex Tape: In Existence?

I made a conscious decision to try to tone down the sexiness, I want people, especially young girls, to know that in life, nothing is going to be based on sex appeal. You’ve got to have something else to go with that. Might these words prove ironic for Nicki Minaj? The rapper is the latest celebrity at the center of a sex tape scandal, as The Boom Box claims the video was filmed prior to Minaj hitting it big and that it’s being hawked for $100,000. No words yet out of the rapper’s camp. Earlier this week, word spread of a Demi Lovato sex tape, but that was quickly shot down by the singer’s rep. We’ll keep you apprised of any reaction, or videotaped pounding, from Nicki.

Sarah Palin Shoots Back at Aaron Sorkin, PETA

In a rare interview with lamestream media outlet ABC, Sarah Palin sat down with Good Morning America ‘s Robin Roberts Friday to talk about taxes, government gettin’ outta the way, Barack Obama flip floppin’ and all sortsa other stuff. She also took a shot (not literally) at Aaron Sorkin . CARIBOU KILLER : Palin makes no apologies . Animal rights activist group PETA called Palin out after she shot a caribou on her TLC show, Sarah Palin’s Alaska, but she says at least that could be sincere. Sorkin calling her a witless bully, comparing her to Michael Vick and saying she killed the animal for political gain, on the other hand, has her all fired up. Sarah Palin responded to Sorkin’s statement, telling Roberts that “We eat, therefore we hunt – and I am thankful that I get to feed my kids organic food.” “He’s got some of those high powered rifles in some of his movies and TV shows though. I think those are aimed at human beings. Mine is aimed at dinner.” Of her critics, she says, “If they don’t wear leather shoes and a belt and drive a car with leather seats and they eat no meat, then they have somethin’ to say.” “And I can listen to them when they say, ‘How dare you kill an animal to feed a family?’ because they don’t participate in that. At least they’re sincere about it.” “I’d say 99% of the critics, you know, they’re wearin’ leather belts and they’re eatin’ their hamburgers – and they’re gonna tell me it’s immoral or not the right thing to do to go out and actually harvest that resource, that piece of protein myself?” There you have it, folks. Aaron Sorkin? Owned. Is it right? Team Sarah or Team PETA?

Leighton Meester Flashes A Little Pink

Hmmm, I’m not sure about this one. I like a woman in a pink frilly dress as much as the next red blooded American male, but this isn’t exactly launching any surface to air missile if you know what I mean. Here’s Leighton Meester at some party or movie premiere the other day, who can keep track, looking kinda good in her weird little dress. To be honest, I don’t really give a crap about the dress, but I know that I’ve got a lot of female readers and chicks like to talk about clothing for some reason so her dress is Christian Dior , her shoes are Pierre Hardy and the jewelry is Cathy Waterman …. And her tits look awesome. more pictures of Leighton Meester here

PETA Lambasts Hunting, Sarah Palin’s Alaska

In a clash of the media-hungry, supremely unintelligent titans, PETA has a bone to pick with Sarah Palin after the most recent episode of her TLC reality show. A graphic hunting scene, hilariously prefaced by a “Viewer Discretion Advised” warning aired Sunday on Sarah Palin’s Alaska . In it, the ex-gov shot a caribou. Never one to let an opportunity for publicity justice pass, PETA issued a statement condemning the show and the potential White House hopeful starring in it. Sarah doesn’t go hunting. That implies a chance of failure. Sarah goes KILLING . “ Sarah Palin seems to think that resorting to violence and blood and guts may lure people into watching her boring show,” said PETA V.P. Dan Mathews. “But the ratings remain as dead as the poor animals she shoots.” Ooh, that one hurts . Sort of inaccurate though, Dan. The show got 3.5 million viewers Sunday, up from 3 million the previous week. On TLC . It’s a hit. Sarah actually hasn’t commented (give it 30 minutes). But over the weekend on Facebook, she wrote that “unless you’ve never worn leather shoes, sat on a leather couch or eaten a piece of meat, save your condemnation of tonight’s episode.” Here’s the clip that has PETA so up in arms … Sarah Palin Shoots Caribou Team Sarah or Team PETA?
