Pauly D Getting His ‘Beast’ On With Label Boss 50 Cent

‘Pauly D Project’ star tells MTV News he is taking his time with debut album because he ‘really wants it to be great.’ By John Mitchell 50 Cent and Pauly D Photo: Ethan Miller/ Getty Images Pauly D is hard at work, making the kind of bold career moves that should help him keep his star status strong long after his days in Seaside Heights are behind him. The “Jersey Shore” breakout has been cataloging his exploits on his new spin-off, “The Pauly D Project,” which follows the star as he travels the world with his crew as an in-demand DJ and continues to pursue a recording career. Pauly signed with 50 Cent’s G-Note record label late last year and reportedly got right to work. “I’m focusing on music. That’s my passion,” Pauly said at the time. “I’m working with 50 Cent now. I’m gonna do an album with him. It’s going to be a little bit of everything. It’s almost like DJ Khaled and kind of David Guetta, but my own DJ Pauly D style.” So how is the album coming along? Apparently, quite well. “G-Unit’s going great. I’m working heavily on my album right now, trying to lock down some producers, some artists,” Pauly told MTV News. “I’m taking my time with it. I really want it to be great. I want the album to show my personality, just like my DJing does.” Pauly had nothing but praise for label boss 50 Cent, saying, “50’s a beast, man. He’s so smart when it comes to business, and he’s so talented. Him and I just clicked the second we met, so it was great.” The feeling, it seems, is mutual. While talking to MTV News in NYC late last month, 50 had nothing but good things to say about Pauly and his new show. “Well, Pauly D’s show is gonna be as — I don’t want to say more exciting than ‘Jersey Shore’ — I’ll say as exciting as ‘Jersey Shore’ to maintain the audience that ‘Jersey Shore’ had by itself,” 50 said. “He has a lot going on right now, and they’ll get a chance to go into his world, as far as his DJing and a lot of things he’s actually doing.” The “Pauly D Project” airs Thursday at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT. It follows the new season of “Punk’d,” which is set to include appearances from superstars like Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Demi Lovato. Don’t miss “The Pauly D Project” every Thursday night at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on MTV! For continuing “Pauly” coverage, be sure to check in with MTV’s Remote Control blog. ‘Jersey Shore’ To Get Another Season With Snooki

‘Things will definitely be a little different’ when pregnant Snooki and crew shoot season six this summer, an MTV rep confirms. By Jocelyn Vena The cast of “Jersey Shore” Photo: MTV Snooki promised at the end of the latest season of “Jersey Shore” that she’d be back for more Seaside Heights, New Jersey, shenanigans, and she wasn’t lying. MTV News has confirmed that there will be another season of the “Shore” — with mom-to-be Snooki joining her pals. Although further details about season six of the hit MTV reality show have yet to be released — though we do know “Shore” will tape this summer — the network released a statement hinting that there will be new themes to explore. “While things will definitely be a little different this time when they hit the boardwalk, their trademark hilarity and family dysfunction will remain the same,” an MTV rep teased. A pregnant Snooki and JWoww are in the midst of filming their own spin-off, while DJ Pauly D’s spin-off, “The Pauly D Project,” will premiere on March 29. But the crew will reconvene for another summer in the sun in Jersey. When MTV News caught up with Pauly D recently, he seemed excited to shoot another season that made him and his housemates household names. “Absolutely! I’m there! I love summers on the Jersey Shore,” he said. “I love it as a show, and I love it with my roommates. I wouldn’t do it without [them], I gotta do it with them. I want all of them [there] and I want the Jersey Shore.” Looking back on season five, Pauly said that if the cast had learned anything, it was how much they loved the Shore after a season spent abroad in Italy. “This season, we kind of appreciated Jersey more,” he said. “So we took advantage of it and everything it has to offer. We were in Italy for so long [last season] that we never were away from the country for that amount of time, so you realize how much you miss gym, tan, laundry. There was no tanning beds in Italy.” For continuing “Jersey Shore” coverage, be sure to check in with MTV’s Remote Control blog.

Jersey Shore Season Finale Recap: Eye of the Hurricane

In light of the fact that Jionni got Snooki pregnant , and multiple cast members have their own spinoffs coming out, was this the last ever Jersey Shore? That remains to be seen, but if Thursday night’s Season 5 finale turned out to be a swan song, our favorite roving gang of guidos/ettes could do worse. Between epic prank wars, laughter, tears, bittersweet emotion, hooking up with lesbians and even a natural disaster, this chapter had it all in Seaside. Let’s recap the season finale of Jersey Shore , THG style! The Situation gets upset when he sees Pauly D and Vinny’s latest prank. Like, for real upset. Like, it “really, really, really” pisses him off, he assures us. And by that metric, Operation Inside Out was totes a success! Plus 14 . Eventually, Pauly helped Sitch bring all his “ruined” belongings back in the house. Because that’s what friends do … to help others quit whining. Plus 4 . Sitch tells Snook the gossip about Deena’s sister. Guy cannot go 15 minutes without gossiping. Minus 10 for being lame, Plus 15 for entertaining fans. Deena finds a new drink holder. Fake boobs are so utilitarian. Plus 9 . Vinny becomes “friends” with two lesbians at the club, and it seems they’re into him too. It’s as if he’s died and gone to guido heaven. Plus 20 . Vinny and the lesbians get comfy in the smush room. Is it just us or have the last two seasons felt like a softcore porno at times? No points , just curious. “This is the moment when heroes are made,” says Vinny. “This story’s going to be told for generations to come.” Maybe, but Plus only 5 , because as Ronnie put it, “one of them [the lesbians] looks like Matthew McConaughey.” Later, Vinny relaxes after his first lesbian threesome. Seriously, what is there left to accomplish on reality TV, or in life? Time to retire now. Plus 11 . Deena confronts Situation for spreading rumors. Because that always works. Minus 9 . Oh no, the Tornado Whistle detects a storm a-comin’ … literally in this case! Plus 5 . Sammi tries to comfort Deena during the storm. Hurricane Irene, go home! Minus 24 for evoking all kinds of bad memories for East Coast residents. Minus 6 more for Deena’s big idea to drive away from it. When the house loses power, Deana goes into a full meltdown while the others calmly go about their business and make fun of her. Plus 10 . The Situation’s brother and Deena’s sister meet the gang at the club. Those two are together! Plus 10 for the possibility of Mike and Deena being family. We never actually find out what this “special talent” is that Dee’s sister has in the sack. Although Frank apparently told Mike about it. Standard. Minus 5 . At Sunday dinner, the roommates toast to their last night. Sniff . Plus 8 . The guys go to fly kites. Seriously. How quaint and random. Plus 3 . The girls try to launch water balloons at the boys. Ineptly. Minus 7. Ronnie prepares to attack, while Pauly comes armed with a Super Soaker. Really, girls, Plus 9 for the fun of it, but no way you were going to win this fight. JWoww leaves the shore house with Roger. Love those two. Plus 5 . Vinny’s mom is shocked by the state of the house. Did she not watch the first four seasons? It’s gotta be different to lay eyes on in person, but Minus 12 . Let’s take a moment in honor of Ronnie and Sammi, who just went through a whole season of Jersey Shore without explosive fights! Incredible! Plus 19 . Pauly D and Vinny hug it out. Such an emotional moment. Plus 8 . Snooki says goodbye to the duck phone. Perhaps the second most emotional moment of the evening. Hopefully we’ll see you again soon, duck. Plus 4 . “Leaving the shore house is bittersweet, like, you’re excited to go home and see your family and friends, but then again, I mean, the party’s over. I mean, what am I gonna do with my life now?” – Snooki, who just answered that question . Plus 10 . Or not: “I definitely would love to be in this house fifty years from now. I mean, I can do this forever, like every summer until I’m 90 years old.” Minus 10 . EPISODE TOTAL: +86! SEASON TOTAL: +434! Jersey Shore …

Is ‘Jersey Shore’ Coming Back For Season Six?

‘I love it as a show, and I love it with my roommates,’ Pauly D tells MTV News, holding out hope for another season. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Sway Calloway Pauly D Photo: Ian Spanier As the latest season of “Jersey Shore” wraps up next week, fans are wondering if the crew will head back to Seaside Heights, New Jersey, to bring their brand of fun to the famed locale. Well, for now, anything is possible. An MTV rep told MTV News in a statement, “No decision has been made yet on a sixth season of ‘Jersey Shore.’ ” One person who would definitely be onboard for another season is DJ Pauly D. “Absolutely! I’m there! I love summers on the Jersey Shore,” he told MTV News. “I love it as a show, and I love it with my roommates. I wouldn’t do it without [them]. I gotta do it with them. I want all of them, and I want the Jersey Shore.” Well, whatever the fate of “Jersey Shore” is, Pauly D is gearing up for his spin-off, “The Pauly D Project,” which kicks off March 29, the same night the brand-new season of “Punk’d” premieres. The show will follow Pauly’s life as a world-renowned DJ. And with celebrity pals like 50 Cent ( Pauly is signed to 50’s G-Note Records ) and Britney Spears (whom he toured with last year ) as cameo possibilities when the show kicks off, fans will get a real inside look at Pauly’s whirlwind life. “It’ll be probably along the lines of, I used to be this DJ in Rhode Island, DJing two sets a week, hustling, promoting,” Pauly explained to MTV News last year. “And all of a sudden, I’m on this show, and now they’re sending private jets for me to DJ for these huge crowds, yet I’m still the same guy that was DJing for 200 people, just loving life.” Snooki and JWoww are also currently filming their own spin-off, which will likely include Snooki’s next life chapter: She recently confirmed that she is pregnant and engaged to Jionni LaValle. Are you hoping for a sixth season of “Jersey Shore”? Let us know in the comments! Don’t miss “Jersey Shore” every Thursday at 10 p.m. ET on MTV. Berlinale Dispatch: Billy Bob Thornton Directs Himself, Beautifully, in Otherwise Messy Jayne Mansfield’s Car

Billy Bob Thornton ’s Jayne Mansfield’s Car , screening in competition here at the Berlinale , is a sprawl of a movie, wonderful in some small, intimate ways but confounding when you step back to look at the bigger picture. This is a multi-generational family story set in late-1960s Alabama: A curmudgeonly patriarch, played by Robert Duvall, learns that his ex-wife, who’d long ago decamped to England to marry another man, has died; he’s forced to open his home to the second husband (John Hurt) and his two children when they arrive in the United States for the funeral. Duvall’s three sons, all veterans of the second World War, include Robert Patrick, who served but never saw action; Kevin Bacon, who worked as a medic and now, at the height of the Vietnam War protest, has become a pot-smoking peacenik; and Thornton, a former pilot whose mind has been addled by his wartime experience. Duvall also has a daughter, played by the gifted actress Katharine LaNasa (who may be best known for her work on TV shows like Big Love ), a flirtatious blonde who feels she sometimes gets lost in this family of strong and/or confused and/or ineffectual men. In fact, there’s a lot of “and/or” in Jayne Mansfield’s Car . (The title refers to the wrecked vehicle in which the Hollywood bombshell died in 1967, which makes its way to Duvall’s town as a morbid curio.) Thornton and cowriter Tom Epperson try to cram in so many relationship dynamics that the ensuing conflicts begin to lose significance. Duvall resents Hurt; Duvall’s sons all resent their father. Characters have crushes that amount to nothing, to the point where you wonder what these developments are even doing in the story. And while these disparate family members have been brought together by a death, no one, not even her own children, has much to say about the woman who has just died – she’s a screenwriter’s device in a handy casket. It doesn’t help that the three brothers, particularly Bacon’s character, are weirdly anachronistic for World War II vets. In 1969, most of those guys weren’t smoking pot or otherwise acting like petulant teenagers; at around age 50, they would have been, or would have been expected to be, certified grown-up men. This is the first picture Thornton has directed in 11 years – the last was the 2001 comedy Daddy and Them – and he isn’t fully in control of this messy, unfocused material. But he does have some terrific actors in his corner: Hurt and Duvall, in particular, are great fun to watch. But what struck me most about Jayne Mansfield’s Car – and it’s the single biggest reason to see the movie – is Thornton’s performance. This is the part that actors who work as directors usually mess up: They can’t direct themselves. (There are notable exceptions, of course, like Orson Welles or Laurence Olivier, but who wants to try to measure up to them ?) Yet Thornton is so relaxed here, and so believably befuddled, that your heart reaches out to him. There’s something extremely vulnerable-looking about Billy Bob: That too-big head on that too-skinny body (which now, at middle age, also features a slight, real-live-person paunch, as opposed to chiseled movie-star abs). He’s superb in an awkwardly tender seduction scene with Frances O’Connor (who plays his late mother’s English stepdaughter) – he stands before her literally and figuratively stripped down, his emotions distilled into something so intense and beautiful that it’s almost painful to watch. I suppose, after playing a scene like that, an actor-director could easily enough watch the playback and say, “Yep, that works.” But can Thornton himself really see how wonderful it is? Particularly in the midst of a movie that, scene for scene, doesn’t really work? Maybe the performance comes from a place where objective assessment recedes and instinct takes over. However it happened, it’s a small, sturdy miracle. Read more of Movieline’s Berlinale coverage here . Follow Stephanie Zacharek on Twitter . Follow Movieline on Twitter .

Coming This March, Pauly Shore in Whiskey Business

Good news, Pauly Shore fans! Hot on the heels of his recent appearance in last fall’s Bucky Larson: Born to Be A Star , the Weasel himself is heading back to the spotlight with a new feature comedy about a Jersey Shore -style guido wrongly accused of murder who’s forced to hide out in the country, where he develops a knack for bootlegging moonshine. It’s called — simply, poetically — Whiskey Business . What’s that? Tell you MORE?? Developed by CMT and airing March 25 on the cable network, Whiskey Business sees Shore pile on the fake tanner and douchebag airs as “Nicky, (Pauly Shore), the son of New Jersey’s most powerful crime boss. Nicky is supposed to follow in his father’s footsteps, but he’d much rather DJ and mix cocktails at a local club.” Who wouldn’t? “When Nicky is framed for murder he didn’t commit, he goes on the run to escape the law and ends up in a small Tennessee town where he sticks out like a sore thumb. Nicky brings some Jersey Shore to the Deep South and is treated with Southern Hospitality and is befriended by a cast of characters, including country cougar Trina (Tanya Tucker). At first Nicky is as suspicious of the townspeople’s moonshine as they are of his fake tan, but he soon bonds with the residents to take down Gilly (John Schneider), the town’s corrupt sheriff.” I know what you’re thinking: How have we survived this long as a people without a movie called Whiskey Business , let alone the historical meeting of the MTV-spawned Pauly and Jersey Shores? (Fun fact: There is one movie listed on IMDb about wacky pet shenanigans called Frisky Business and another involving naughty bondage, but no other Whiskey Business to date.) I don’t know, either, but I do know that these behind-the-scenes photos and stills Shore posted to his Facebook fan page during filming (including the Saddest. Fist bump. Ever. ) only make this even more of a must-DVR occasion. In a press release, Mary Beth Cunin, SVP Programming Strategy at CMT, explained the move to produce an original Shore vehicle. “Pauly Shore is a CMT fan-favorite and we’re thrilled to be in business with him on this movie… Pauly’s movie Son In Law is one of CMT’s top performers, so to find a new vehicle to showcase his talent and popularity is an exciting opportunity.” Ah, Son in Law . Suddenly it all makes even more sense. Looks like Shore’s on his way to being “the West Coast’s Woody Allen” after all! [ Deadline , Facebook ]

Jersey Shore Recap: A Leopard Never Sheds its Stripes

This week on the Jersey Shore, the “family” continued to experience all kinds of ups and downs. Vinny fell for a lesbian, Pauly acquired a new stalker, JWoww fought with Roger, Snooki acted ridiculously and no one could figure Mike out. Pretty standard stuff, really. We are happy/sad to report that no one threw down! How did it all play out in Seaside Heights? Let’s recap Jersey Shore , THG style! The Situation gets the dirt from his brother on his recent date with Deena’s sister. Yep, that happened. As if this crew weren’t incestuous enough. Minus 12 . “The real Mike is back and I love watching all the $h!t he does.” – Pauly, after Mike decides he’s going all out to start some $h!t again. Game on, brah. Plus 5 . Mike’s plan to CRUSH Snooki by having his boy The Unit tell Jionni all about Sitch and Snook’s sexy times failed because Unit was in Miami. Too bad? Plus 11 . Snooki tries to hang out with The Situation. Always a dangerous move. Minus 3 . Vinny juggles two girls at the bar. Good to be back, right? Plus 11 . Deena keeps Vinny’s other girl occupied. Wing-meatball! Plus 8 . The more “hotass” of the two is Nicki, who is a lesbian. Vinny tried to get it in anyway, and Plus 7 for the effort, but Minus 14 for delusions. She bounced. JWoww ducks out early, hella annoyed that Roger was dodging her calls even though he was down the street on the boardwalk. We smell drama. Minus 9 . The next morning, Jenni finally got ahold of Roger, who said he didn’t have a phone and that’s why he took the day off. Sketchy, and she knows it. Minus 1 . Snooki attempts to master the art of sitting in a hammock. Fail. Minus 5 . Snooki cleans the Smush Room bed. Plus 15 for even attempting that, but Minus 40 for the imagery of some of the things that have probably gone on there. Snooki finds a hiding spot on the deck. Very stealthy. Plus 27 . Snooki complains about sunlight and mused that it’s always dark in Arkansas. Minus 10 because that’s not even true, and Minus 30 because she meant Alaska. Probably. Vinny’ smush with the backup girl was average. Good to know. Minus 5 . “Released some demons, you know.”- Vinny. Gross. Minus 13 . Deena and Snooki decide to skip out on their shift at the Shore Store. BOLD move, since it’s not actually a real job and the store only “hires” them for PR. Minus 10 . “Danny’s such an annoying.” – Deena. At least he’s not trying to “do sex.” Plus 8 . Pauly D has an encounter with his new stalker. Bosnian Grilled Cheese set the bar pretty high, so this girl had better be aware of what an elite club she’s in. Plus 4 . Are stalkers required to wear the same thing every day? Plus 3 . Roger told Jen he’d be an hour late for their date, which they canceled, as JWoww ripped him a new one without him having a chance to respond. Minus 8 . No Sammi and Ronnie drama to speak of, at least! Plus 22 . In a turn of events, Sitch went out for a drink with Deena and Snooki. Who he wants to ruin … about half the time. Dude’s moods are hard to predict, but Plus 5 . “A leopard never sheds its stripes.” – Deena, on Sitch. SO true. Plus 20 . The Situation teases Deena about becoming brother-and sister-in-law, but then gets nervous when Deena’s sister calls the house. Plus 9 for the expression above. Imagine Mike being your brother-in-law, though. Exactly. Minus 5 . Danny tells Deena and Snooki that if they get fired, they’ll have to leave the Seaside house. Minus 8 because there is absolutely no way MTV’s letting that happen. Pauly D and Vinny run into JWoww’s boyfriend at the gym. Dude’s not small. Plus 2 . He’s also not backing down after the way she acted, he tells them. Plus 3 . JWoww decides to swallow her pride and apologize to Roger. Plus 30 . The call (and episode) ended with an ultimatum: “So what’s it going to be?” Dun dun dun! EPISODE TOTAL: +17! SEASON TOTAL: +174! Jersey Shore …

Snooki is Bisexual, Sort Of

Somebody call Tila Tequila , because we’re about to make a fortune in pint-size lesbian reality TV star porn!
