Britney Spears Talks Filming ‘Grimy’ ‘Till The World Ends’ Video

Singer opens up about the Ray Kay-directed video in ‘I Am the Femme Fatale’ MTV special. By Jocelyn Vena, with additional reporting by Sway Calloway Britney Spears Photo: MTV News & Docs Britney Spears took fans behind the scenes on her music video shoot for her second Femme Fatale single, “Till the World Ends,” in her MTV special, “Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale.” The video was shot in a dank basement somewhere in Los Angeles. Spears and her dancers don rocking post-apocalyptic black clothing, with Spears dancing around in a studded black leather jacket and a sexy black bodysuit. In the special, Spears is seen watching the playback on the Ray Kay-directed video. “[I watched it] just to make sure it’s right and that the costume looks right and the dancers are together and we all look in unison,” she explained. “It’s an energy and it looks fresh. It has a certain vibe with it and it makes sense.” This marks nearly the 40th music video Spears has made in her career. And these days, she says she is just looking to have a good time. When asked if she feels she needs to top herself with every project, she responded, “Not really. I feel like I’ve made so many videos that I’m at the point that I genuinely want to enjoy myself, and I have such a good team of people with me … we just have fun.” As much fun as shooting a video can be, it’s also a lot of work. At one point during the making of “Till the World Ends,” Spears wanted nothing more than a quick break. “The set was a little much. It was grimy and gross and it felt like there was poop everywhere when there wasn’t,” she recalled. “It was sweat and it was disgusting sometimes … [I] tough it out,” she laughed. Another sticking point during the shoot was the discomfort Spears felt while dancing around in heels. “It hurts … but it looks good,” she said, adding that sometimes she changes into Uggs. “It wasn’t a full-length shot, so a girl’s about comfort when it’s not showing.” At the end of the day though, the video was a lot more fun than work to shoot. “It was a lot of fun. I had never worked with Ray Kay before. I was really happy with the work we did,” she said. Pauly D Takes Us Behind Britney Spears’ Las Vegas Show

‘Jersey Shore’ star gives MTV News a mini-tour of Rain nightclub. By Jocelyn Vena Pauly D Photo: MTV News On Sunday night, Britney Spears took her fans behind the scenes of her life as she prepped the release of her latest studio album, Femme Fatale , in the MTV special “Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale.” She allowed cameras to follow her as she hit the studio to work with will.iam, attended dance rehearsals, filmed the video for her song “Hold It Against Me” and performed in Las Vegas. DJ Pauly D was on hand for that Vegas performance at the Palms Hotel and Casino, where he warmed up the crowd for the femme fatale herself. Before the night even kicked off, Pauly took MTV News for a mini-tour of Rain nightclub, where Spears was set to take the stage for her debut Femme Fatale performance. He walked our cameras through the club, showing off the stage on which Spears would later perform “Hold It Against Me,” “Big Fat Bass” and “Till The World Ends.” As he walked across the dance floor, which would be occupied by Spears’ fans much later in the night, he made his way to the DJ booth, where he spun tunes and introduced the star the night of the big show, which was included in the special. “Me, Britney and Vegas is the perfect combination. I love Las Vegas. I love music. Britney Spears loves music. Her new album’s out, and who better to be onstage with her than DJ Pauly D?” he said. “It’s amazing. I like to see my name on marquees anyway, but now, having it associated with Britney Spears. I’ve been a fan of her my whole life. I used to always play her music, so it’s unreal.” Did you catch “Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale”? Tell us below! Britney Spears ‘Legitimizes’ Pauly D’s DJ Career, ‘Jersey Shore’ Star Says

‘Britney Spears is performing her new album at Rain while I’m DJing. I couldn’t ask for anything more,’ Pauly D says of last Friday’s Vegas gig. By Jocelyn Vena Pauly D Photo: MTV News Shortly after it was announced that Pauly D would be the resident DJ at Rain nightclub at the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, the “Jersey Shore” star was bestowed with another honor: He was to DJ Britney Spears’ surprise gig in Las Vegas , which was taped for her MTV special “Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale,” airing Sunday at 9 p.m. ET. “For me, I love Las Vegas, I love DJing. It’s my heart. I locked down this huge residency, which I always wanted, and now I find out Britney Spears is performing her new album at Rain while I’m DJing. I couldn’t ask for anything more,” Pauly D dished to MTV News last Friday. “I’m at Las Vegas now. What it means to DJ a concert like a Britney Spears concert or something like that, it’s an association with monsters like Britney Spears and it just legitimizes your career. And it’s just fun like being onstage with Britney Spears performing like she’s performing. I love it. I couldn’t ask for more.” Given that Pauly D plays a mix of popular music and more underground house, he admits that he doesn’t have to change his style up too much for a gig with Spears. “I keep up on music. I keep up on current music. I play everything. I’m open format,” he explained. “I play geared to the crowd, so I don’t prep my set. For this I go out there, I kind of wing it. I look at the crowd, I have an idea. I like to play the new stuff that’s hot. I feed off the crowd.” Pauly also explained the rules he has for his craft. “A DJ should not play the artist’s songs at her concert ’cause she has to perform these songs,” he said. “I’m not going to be playing any Britney before she performs; maybe after. I’ll let her perform, let her shine ’cause it’s her night.” The Vegas show is one of many highlights in the “I Am the Femme Fatale” special. Spears gives fans a taste of what it was like making the album, including behind-the-scenes footage of her in the studio with will.i.am and an intimate chat with Sway Calloway in which she opens up about her life and her career. To see what Spears has to say about her new album and watch her as she puts the finishing touches on it, don’t miss the “Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale” special, airing Sunday, April 3, at 9 p.m. ET on MTV. Britney Spears’ MTV Special Is ‘For The Fans,’ Manager Says

‘I want them to know that Britney is back and better than ever,’ Larry Rudolph tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears performs “Till the World Ends” at Rain Nightclub in the Palms Las Vegas Photo: Roderick Trestrail Britney Spears gives fans an inside look at her life and the making of her latest album in the MTV special “Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale.” MTV News has of course been tracking the release of her record, which finally dropped on Tuesday, but we were also on hand as she performed in Las Vegas at the Palms’ Rain nightclub. Fans will get to see the show — and much more — for themselves when the special airs on Sunday, April 3, at 9 p.m. ET on MTV. When we spoke to Spears’ longtime manager, Larry Rudolph, in Vegas, he told us Brit wanted to put on a spectacle for her fans. She wanted to take her first Femme Fatale live performance to Vegas because much like the city, Spears’ concerts have lots of sparkle, pyro and razzmatazz, he explained. “We chose this place; we chose the Palms because the Palms is where Britney has so much history,” he said. “We performed here with the Britney album, we did a similar thing. We’re doing this eight years later now and we’re doing it for the fans.” Rudolph stressed that Spears has one main goal: to entertain her fans in the Femme Fatale era. “For her, it was really important to do it for the fans the first time she was out there,” he explained. “To do it here in Las Vegas, where everything is bigger and everything is more exciting and the fans are here for her, this was the place to do it. “I want them to know — when the fans watch this — I want them to know that Britney is back and better than ever, not that she’s ever gone anywhere,” he continued. “But she’s back and she’s better than ever.” Don’t miss “Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale” on Sunday, April 3, at 9 p.m. ET on MTV. Britney Spears Is ‘True To Herself,’ Dolce & Gabbana Say

The famous design team talk about dressing the pop star for her Femme Fatale photos and appearances. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears Photo: C. Flanigan/ WireImage It seems like a natural fit for sex kitten Britney Spears to don sexy couture by Dolce & Gabbana. So when the Femme Fatale singer needed to make sure she was at her sexiest in promotional photos for the album, she called upon the legendary design duo. “We love Britney and we love to dance to her new songs!” Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, the design team behind D&G, told U.K.’s Telegraph about the pop star. “We can’t wait to hear the whole album!” In photos, Spears looks hot sporting three designs by the duo. In one photo, she rocks a polka-dot body suit with platform peep-toe heels. In another shot, Spears sits on a bathroom cabinet, gazing into a mirror, while looking glamorous in a buttery gown made of a silk bustier and matching chiffon skirt. She pairs the look with tie-up platforms. In final image, Spears wears black spandex hot pants with an untied black silk bustier. “She has always been among our favorite artists because she has been able to remain true to herself and to her style throughout the years,” the designers added. “With her music she influenced and inspired generations of people for more than 10 years, always staying at the top, and we can’t but congratulate her for this new, important achievement.” Spears has been hitting the stage in similar body-hugging designs. From her glowing bodysuit to her sequined one, both of which she wore at her recent Las Vegas nightclub gig, Spears has certainly been stepping up her glamour game during the Femme Fatale era. D&G recently hooked up with another pop siren for her wardrobe: The pair is creating styles for Kylie Minogue to wear on her Les Folies tour. The designers expressed a similar sentiment about working with the Aussie pop star on her looks. “Working with Kylie has always been very spontaneous and easy,” the pair said in a statement. “We are given free rein to create because she trusts that we know exactly what she likes.” Spears latest album, Femme Fatale , dropped this week, and don’t miss the special, which airs this Sunday, April 3, at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.
