Cole ‘s Cole World: The Sideline Story snagged the #1 spot on this week’s Billboard 200, his Roc nation boss, Jay-Z , gave the rookie MC a big pat on the back. “J. Cole’s success is testament to amazing artist development and Cole’s hard work,” Hov said in a press release issued to MTV News. “I want to congratulate him on a #1 album and more importantly a great body of work.” The Fayetteville, North Carolina, MC/producer moved more than 217,000 copies of his debut in its first week of release, beating out Blink 182’s long-awaited Neighborhoods album. “J. Cole personifies humility and grace with edge and depth. As an MC, his point of view speaks to and represents me. I’m proud and blessed to be a part of his journey!” Mark Pitts, president of urban music at Sony /JIVE and CEO of Bystorm Entertainment, said in the statement. Cole first attracted a buzz in 2007 with The Come Up mixtape. In 2009, he quietly signed to Jay-Z’s label before releasing his Warm Up tape. The rapper is a former XXL Freshmen cover subject, and along with appearing on his boss Hov’s Blueprint III, he also toured with Rihanna this year. But even with all of his accomplishments, Cole’s debut went through a series of starts and stops before dropping on September 27. Leisha Hailey, an actress most recently seen on CSI but best known for her role on Showtime’s The L Word , was kicked off a Southwest Airlines flight today and immediately took to Twitter to complain that she and her girlfriend got the boot because of their sexual orientation. Hailey says a flight attendant asked her and her partner to leave because they were kissing and, according to the stewardess, Southwest is a “family” airline. “They don’t like us,” the actress Tweeted of the company’s alleged “homophobic” policies. But Southwest has now replied and says its employees simply responded to passenger complains about the actress’ “excessive” affection toward her girlfriend. “Our crew, responsible for the comfort of all Customers on board, approached the passengers based solely on behavior and not gender,” the statement reads. “The conversation escalated to a level that was better resolved on the ground, as opposed to in flight. We are ready to work directly with the passengers involved to offer our heartfelt apologies for falling short of their expectation.” Hailey should just be grateful she wasn’t wearing baggy pants , too.

Guess old habits die hard… Lindsay Lohan reverted to her wild party girl days on Wednesday night when she reportedly hurled a glass at a photographer who was trying to take her picture and then threw a drink on another snapper later in the evening. The first incident happened at the Top of the Standard hotel during the V magazine party in the Boom Boom Room, according to The NY Post. She reportedly threw a drink at an assigned photographer who was trying to take a picture. The photographer, Jaspin Rischen, later took to Twitter to voice his disgust at the actress’s behavior. Wow. Lindsay Lohan is as trashy as they always say,” he wrote. “She threw drinks and glasses to me as we tried to take a shot for @vmagazine. [bleep]” However a representative for the Mean Girls star, 25, says the incident did not happen. “Lindsay did not throw anything at anyone, plain and simple. The group took to their official site this week to let fans know it’s going to take a little longer than planned before they drop anything new. “Ideally our new record would be coming out this year but it’s just not ready yet,” the statement reads. “We don’t want to rush this album just to get it out. This collection of songs means everything to us and our only priority right now is to make sure that it’s the best album we can possibly make. There is still more work for us to do. …” The band noted that while no new music will be coming out in 2011, it’s been a big year for them in other ways. “The past twelve months have been eventful; we performed for Paul McCartney and President Obama at the Kennedy Center Honors, three beautiful new No Doubt babies were born, and we’ve recorded in studios all over Los Angeles.” They added at the end of the statement that the delay will actually benefit fans. “We love our fans and are doing this for your ears and want you to know how much we appreciate your patience and support,” they wrote. “There have been some stories circulating about us collaborating with outside producers and artists. Please don’t believe anything you hear unless it comes from us.” The group has been keeping fans up-to-date on the progress of the album through interviews and on Twitter .
