It’s no secret that Matt Bomer is gay. The White Collar star has been with partner Simon Halls for years and the couple even has three sons together. But it was still noteworthy Saturday night when the actor took to the stage at the Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards to accept the New Generation Arts and Activism Award for his work in the fight against HIV/AIDS and publicly thanked acknowledged Halls for the first time, saying: “I’d really especially like to thank my beautiful family: Simon, Kit, Walker, Henry. Thank you for teaching me what unconditional love is. You will always be my proudest accomplishment.” Matt Bomer Thanks Boyfriend, Sons
Axl Rose and company to revisit NYC venue where they performed their ‘Live at the Ritz’ concerts 24 years ago. By Andrea Duncan-Mao Guns N’ Roses’ Axl Rose Photo: Evan Agostini/Getty Images All that’s old is new again. Axl Rose and his revamped Guns N’ Roses will revisit their beloved New York when they launch their Northeast tour in February. In 2011, the band completed a sold-out international tour and will kick off 2012 with a series of intimate shows in the States, starting with New York. Beginning February 10, they will perform a three-show series in the city, the cornerstone of which will be at the club Webster Hall, which was originally called the Ritz. This is where GN’R played one of their most famous concerts, “Live at the Ritz,” in 1998. For their return, the venue will revert to its original name, complete with new signage and marquee, and fans can wax nostalgic about the days when Guns were the biggest band on the planet. Additional cities include Chicago; Silver Spring, Maryland; and Atlantic City, New Jersey. No word yet if more dates will be announced. The stark difference this time around is that the original members of the group — namely Duff McKagan, Slash and Izzy Stradlin — will not be there. Axl remains the only original member in this latest incarnation of GN’R, and the latest crew has yet to release a new album. The last Guns N’ Roses release was back in 2008 with Chinese Democracy. McKagan currently lives in Seattle and has had success with his bands Velvet Revolver and Loaded, while the top-hat-wearing Slash, who was also in Velvet Revolver, has guested on tracks from Michael Jackson and Rihanna and is a major figure in the “Guitar Hero” video games. Former Pussycat Doll reportedly wants to focus on her music career. By Kara Warner Steve Jones and Nicole Scherzinger on “X Factor” Photo: FOX “The X Factor” has said goodbye to two of its familiar faces: mentor Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones. E! News reported that the former Pussycat Doll and “Dancing With the Stars” champ has decided not to return to the show in order to focus on her music career. “She’s spoken to Simon [Cowell], and he’s given her his blessing,” a source told E! Scherzinger often became emotional during elimination episodes, shedding tears and expressing sympathy for ousted contestants. As for inaugural “X Factor” host Jones, the cheeky Welshman broke the news himself via Twitter on Monday. “I won’t be hosting next seasons X Factor which is a shame but I cant complain as I’ve had a great time,” Jones tweeted to his more than 94,000 followers. “Good luck to everyone on the show.” Jones had decidedly big shoes to fill stepping into the gig, with comparisons instantly made to “American Idol” host/ media mogul Ryan Seacrest. Throughout the season, the reviews of Jones’ hosting skills were decidedly mixed. Fox Entertainment president Kevin Reilly’s comments during the TCA panels earlier this month now seem as though a decision was made awhile ago. “I think everyone has come to realize the value of a Ryan Seacrest,” he told reporters during the network’s press tour panel. “If you dialed the clock back 11 years, I’m not sure everybody in this room would have given him all the credit at that time. Those are very hard jobs to do. So whether Steve’s the guy or not, it comes under the heading of ‘growth’ in general. There will be some tweaks to the show, but I’ll tell you, I’m very happy to have it, and it’s gonna be part of us for a long time.” The 34-year-old Jones seemed to take the criticism in stride and didn’t appear to have high hopes for a return for the second season. “There’s been no contract conversations and there won’t be until the New Year,” Jones told Metro UK in December. “If I’m back, great. If not, I’ll do something else. Simple as that.” One thing Jones does have hope for is a possible romantic connection with Scherzinger, who was originally supposed to be his co-host before she replaced Cheryl Cole on the judging panel. “If I ever leave ‘X Factor,’ Scherzinger’s phone will be smoking hot from me ringing it constantly,” Jones joked to Metro. “If we are not colleagues, then she’s fair game.” Will you miss Steve Jones on “The X Factor”? From Sideways to Little Miss Sunshine to Slumdog Millionaire and Black Swan , Fox Searchlight has long proven more than adept at marketing its awards-season wares. Thus the distributor seemed a logical choice to acquire Shame , the acclaimed sex-addict drama that was near-instantly presumed to be destined for an accursed NC-17 rating. But now Searchlight, continuing its “What, us worry?” campaign on behalf of the Steve McQueen-directed, Michael Fassbender-starring gem, may have hit its stride.
Atlanta-based rap producer Shawty Redd has been found not guilty of a murder charge related to his 2010 New Year’s Day arrest. Martin of Detroit during an argument at Stewart’s home in Hampton, located in Henry County. Henry County District Attorney Tommy Floyd told the AP that Redd was cleared of the murder charge Thursday after judge Wade Crumbley determined that the producer acted in self-defense. Redd has produced tracks for Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane and others.
