Farrah Abraham … well, goodness knows she tries. She tries to be eloquent, she tries to be thoughtful, she tries to communicate in a way that makes sense. She just always, always fails . When we see Farrah on Teen Mom OG, she has such trouble expressing herself, and she often misunderstands what other people try to tell her. When we see her do interviews, she really strives to be intelligent and insightful, but that’s just not who she is. That’s not in her skill set . It’s a rare occasion that we have to see something she’s actually written — as you can imagine, that’s an especially tragic experience. And unfortunately, it’s an experience we’re facing today. See, Farrah has been working hard on building up a business for her daughter, Sophia. She’s getting her into acting and modeling, and she recently opened up a children’s boutique for her to “run.” Right now, she’s getting the website for the store up and running, and in doing that, she wrote a nice little thing called “Our Story” for the About section. Well, she tried to make it nice. It didn’t really turn out that way. And that’s because, as it turns out, the girl just is not capable of writing. At all. Farrah’s story begins with “Sophia Laurent is the owner of this celebrity children’s boutique, at age 7 Sophia loves to shop and create for exclusives and awesome toys, clothing and accessories for boys and girls from new born to 12.” It’s not great, but hey, at least we know what she’s trying to say, right? “Sophia was born on MTV Network and her shows continue to be on the network in many other countries Poland, Canada, United Kingdom’s, Africa and much more,” Farrah continues. And that’s where it all falls apart. For one, Africa is not a country. For two, “United Kingdom’s” … United Kingdom’s what? Did she mean to name countries in the United Kingdom? Does she think there are multiple United Kingdoms, and she just got confused with how to make it plural? Oh, honey . She goes on to write “Sophia Laurent believes in every child has a voice and sky is the limit for any child any age and we hope to make every child whom walks in our store feel special like a king or queen.” Right, right. Things are similarly awful for the rest of the story, until Farrah gets to the end, when she … you really just have to see this madness for yourself. “Sophia’s biggest fan her mother Farrah Abraham top female celebrity in our nation continues to grow the inventory, customer service and success of the children’s boutiques plan of expansion. Chris Cornell, a musician who rose to fame as the lead singer of Soundgarden before taking on the same role for Audioslave, died Wednesday night in Detroit. He was 52 years old. Brian Bumbery, a rep for the artist, has confirmed this sad piece of news to the Associated Press and other outlets. Via a statement to CNN, Bumbery says that Cornell was performing in The Motor City with Soundgarden, which had embarked on a domestic tour in April, when he passed away. He referred to the death as “sudden and unexpected,” saying in full: “His wife Vicky and family were shocked to learn of his sudden and unexpected passing, and they will be working closely with the medical examiner to determine the cause. “They would like to thank his fans for their continuous love and loyalty and ask that their privacy be respected at this time.” Cornell had just taken the stage on Wednesday evening at the Fox Theater in Detroit. Soundgarden was among the most prominent bands in the grunge music scene that dominated the 1990s. The band’s hits included “Spoonman,” ”Fell on Black Days,” ”Black Hole Sun,” “My Wave” and “The Day I Tried to Live.” Cornell started his career in Seattle back in 1984 when he helped form the popular group. We will need to await an autopsy before learning the cause of death, but Cornell was open through the years about his struggle with alcohol abuse and those close to him who died from a similar addiction. “I’ve lost a lot of young, brilliant friends, people that I thought were very inspired,” he told Rolling Stone in 2015, adding: “They’re all young and these guys all had limitless potential in their lives in front of them.” It’s true: With his passing, Cornell joins a long line of lead grunge rock singers who died at a young age. To wit: – Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain was found dead in his Seattle home in 1994 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. – Alice in Chains’ original frontman, Layne Staley, died from a drug overdose in 2002. – Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots passed away of an accidental overdose in 2015. Soundgarden won two Grammy Awards in 1995. The track “Black Hole Sun” took home the Grammy for best hard rock performance, while the song “Spoonman” won for best metal performance that year. After the band broke up in 1997, Cornell performed solo for a few years prior to forming Audioslave. That super group included former Rage Against the Machine members Tom Morello, Brad Wilk and Tim Commerford, and had a successful run in its own right. Soundgarden reunited in 2012 and released the band’s sixth studio album, “King Animal.” Wrote musician Dave Navarro upon learning Cornell had died: “SO SO stunned to hear about Chris Cornell! Such a terrible and sad loss! Thinking of his family tonight! RIP.” We, like so many fans, share the same sentiment. Powers Boothe, a veteran actor of both the big screen and the small screen, died on Sunday in his sleep. He was 68 years old. According to publicist Karen Samfilippo, Boothe passed away inside his Los Angeles home from natural causes. A private service will be held for him this week in his native state of Texas, while his family is contemplating a more public memorial at some point in the future. Beau Bridges, another long-time star in the industry, Tweeted confirmation of the sad news on Sunday afternoon, writing the following message: Boothe was mostly known for portraying fictional villains, from saloon owner Cy Tolliver on HBO’s Deadwood to one of his more recent appearances on ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. He grew up on a Texas farm and began his acting career on stage, starring in a number of Shakespearean productions, including Henry IV. After becoming the first member of his family to graduate from college, he made his Broadway debut in the 1970s in Lone Star & Pvt. Wars. In 1980, Boothe won an Emmy Award for lead actor in a limited series or special for playing cult leader Jim Jones in CBS’ Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones. He took home that trophy during an actors strike and decided to cross the picket line to accept it, saying at the time: “This may be either the bravest moment of my career or the dumbest.” Boothe also was nominated two ensemble SAG Awards, first in 1996 alongside the cast of Nixon and then again in 2007 with the cast of Deadwood. He’s probably best known to current movie goers for having players Senator Roark in the Sin City franchise. Also in the film universe, he portrayed Alexander Haig in Nixon (1995)… a sheriff in another Oliver Stone movie, U Turn (1997)… and was unforgettable as the evil gunman Curly Bill Brocius in Tombstone (1993). Boothe played Connie Britton’s father on Nashville and the President of the United States on a season of 24. “I loved acting with you #PowersBoothe you were a gentlemen and a great actor,” wrote Lea Thompson in response to Boothe’s passing. His Deadwood co-star, Garret Dillahunt, described the star on Facebook as “a formidable adversary, baseball lover and poser hater,” adding as a tribute: “Give em hell Powers.” In 2009, Boothe was inducted in the Texas Film Hall of Fame, along with actor and singer Billy Bob Thornton. Those who wish to honor the late star can send donations to the Gary Sinise Foundation, which assists the country’s defenders, veterans, first responders, their families and those in need.
