Racist Azz Restaurant: KY Maker’s Mark Bourbon House Sued For Shutting Out Event After Asking Ratio Of Blacks To Whites!

Put your glasses down. Maker’s Mark Bourbon House And Lounge Sued For Denying Blacks Entrance Apparently the Maker’s Mark Bourbon House and Lounge in Louisville, Kentucky doesn’t care about black people — or their business! A brother named Andre Mulligan, who holds double bachelor’s degrees in History and Political Science from the University of Louisville, and his brother met with Maker’s Mark officials on August 17th of this year in preparation for an event they had scheduled for the following day only to be told he couldn’t have the event any more because his guestlist was 100% black. Because it was too late to cancel, they and their guests showed up anyway and were denied entrance. SMH! According to Courthouse News reports : Andre Mulligan sued Louisville Bourbon LLC dba Maker’s Mark Bourbon House and Lounge, of Louisville, and Cordish Operating Ventures, of Baltimore, Md., in Jefferson County Court. Cordish operates the 4th Street Live venue in Louisville, where Maker’s Mark runs a restaurant. Both “provide accommodations to the public,” Mulligan says in his complaint. Mulligan claims that he and his brother met with Maker’s Mark officials on Aug. 17, “in preparation for an even that was to be held at the lounge on Aug. 18″ this year, the complaint states. “During the meeting the officials from Maker’s Mark demanded to know the ratio of ‘black people’ to ‘white people’ attending the event,” according to the complaint. “Plaintiff informed the Maker’s Mark officials that the party would be 100 percent African American. And the Maker’s Mark officials responded by informing the plaintiff that he and other African Americans would not be allowed to hold an event at the Maker’s Mark Lounge. “Maker’s Mark officials specifically informed the plaintiff that he would not be served if he attempted to enter the lounge on Aug. 18, 2012. “On Aug. 18, 2012 Maker’s Mark officials refused service to all African Americans (in the event) who attempted to gain access to the lounge (just as they had promised).” Mulligan claims the defendants refused to let him enter, and that “Cordish security told the plaintiff to ‘shut up’ and that he was trespassing. Cordish security informed the plaintiff that he would be ‘locked up’ if he did not leave the grounds; at the exact same moment the plaintiff witnessed numerous Caucasian patrons entering the 4th Street Live venue without incident.” Mulligan seeks punitive damages for violations of the Kentucky Civil Rights Act, and costs. Now what kind of fawkery is that?! Is it time to boycott Maker’s Mark???

Gun Control: Time to Get Serious?

The horrific shooting at the Newtown, Conn., elementary school that left 28 dead, including 20 children, has re-ignited a polarizing debate over gun control. If nothing else, it’s time to get very, very serious about discussing the issue. Public figures immediately jumped in to offer condolences in the wake of the mass murder committed by Adam Lanza , while some called for new restrictions. Plenty of others, while clearly sympathetic to the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, defended gun rights and the 2nd Amendment. President Barack Obama, who cried during a press conference regarding the shooting Friday, did not touch upon the controversial issue of gun control by name. He did, though, sound a call to prevent further tragedies, regardless of politics. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said he was “shocked and saddened” by the tragic shooting. He said society should “unify” to “crack down on the guns.” N.Y. City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said “immediate action” was needed. Mark Kelly, husband of former Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, who was gravely injured by a gunman in Tucson in 2011, wrote on Facebook: “The children of Sandy Hook Elementary School and all victims of gun violence deserve leaders who have the courage to participate in a meaningful discussion about gun laws.” “How can they be reformed and enforced to prevent violence and death in America?” Many believe the CT school shooting tragedy is just the latest, preventable case of a bullied, disgrunted and/or mentally ill person taking lives that could’ve been saved. Directly or indirectly, are guns too readily available to the perpetrators? Fewer guns, tougher laws, fewer tragedies, right? Take away the availability and fewer weapons will fall into the wrong hands at the wrong times. Right? Lots of people would agree with that theory, but not necessarily a majority. The debate has been fast and furious in the past 24 hours, and not one-sided. Trending topics on Twitter included “2nd Amendment,” “NRA” and “Columbine.” For every argument about the 2nd Amendment being antiquated is a counter-argument about its necessity, and its place in the foundation of American liberty. Some gun rights advocates believe this tragedy epitomizes the need for gun rights , not gun control, as a means of protection against those who may act violently. One Twitter user wrote, “The only gun reform we need is to allow people the ability to defend themselves, not provide nut jobs with easy targets #NRA.” Another posted, “Guns don’t kill people people do! Practice the 2nd Amendment – keep your gun loaded with you at all times – the younger you are the better.” Philosophically, gun rights activists feel that gun control takes away another piece of our liberty, starting a slippery slope toward socialism and totalitarianism. From a practical standpoint, they argue that criminals will always find a way to obtain guns, and that only law-abiding citizens would abide by regulations anyway. Furthermore, they feel crimes are just as often prevented by the deterrent of gun possession, and a dangerous black market would develop in the event of tougher laws. In light of recent events, and the arguments above, what do you think? Comment and vote below: Is it time to pass major gun control laws?   YES. Fewer guns, fewer tragedies! NO. It’s unconstitutional and won’t stop anything! View Poll »

Josh Hamilton Signs $125 Million Deal with Angels

One year after shocking the world with its signing of Albert Pujols, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have done it again. And they’ve screwed over arch rival Texas in the process. Sources confirm that Josh Hamilton – a former American League MVP who hit .285 with 43 homers and 128 RBI last year – has signed a five-year, $125 million deal with the Angels. In stealing the free agent from the Rangers, Los Angeles bolsters a lineup that already includes Pujols and Mike Trout. That’s fairly ridiculous. It is now expected they will try to trade another bat (Mike Trumbo, sources believe) for a front-line pitcher along the lines of R.A. Dickey. Hamilton is a recovering alcoholic who has been open about his struggles to remain clean and sober. He’s exceptionally good at hitting a baseball.

David Petraeus: Barbara Walters’ Most Fascinating Person of 2012!

Barbara Walters’ 10 Most Fascinating People of 2012 special aired last night, and the #1 most fascinating of the electic mix of individuals was revealed at last: David Petraeus! The special highlighted the achievements and antics of those that kept us enthralled for the past 12 months, from Ben Affleck to Gabby Douglas to Honey Boo Boo . But it was Petraeus, the decorated U.S. military hero now disgraced by an affair that forced his resignation as director of the CIA, who took the top prize. “He is, without question, one of the finest officers and minds of his generation,” said Walters. “Then shockingly, he resigned as head of the CIA because he’d had an extramarital affair with Paula Broadwell, his biographer. … The story was irresistible.” “The keeper of the nation’s secrets, unable to conceal his own.” Yes … the story of a man attracted to a younger woman who was taken with him is so unique. Paula Broadwell , of course, was revealed as Petraeus mistress after apparently emailing Jill Kelley, another woman he knew socially, and telling her to step off. Petraeus has been married to his wife, Holly, for 37 years. On the entertainment side, Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane received a spot, along with British boy band One Direction and 50 Shades of Grey author E L James. Political nods went to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. What do you think of David Petraeus as the year’s most fascinating person?   Yes, that story was the craziest! No, are you kidding me? View Poll »

Rolling Stones Perform at 12-12-12 Concert, Mick Jagger Cracks Sandy Joke

Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger cracked at joke at the 12-12-12 Concert For Sandy Relief last night in New York that didn’t sit well with some fans. Rolling Stones 12-12-12 Concert “This has got to be the largest collection of old English musicians ever assembled in Madison Square Garden,” he said of the star-studded benefit show. “But I’ve got to say, if it rains in London, you’ve got to come and help us, OK?” Fans expressed varying degrees of shock, as victims of Hurricane Sandy in the tri-state area are still reeling from the $70 billion in damages caused by the storm. It’s hard to believe Jagger was actually belittling the event, or the storm. More likely, he was just making light of the fact that a bunch of old British guys (The Stones, The Who, Paul McCartney , Roger Waters ) were brought in to raise money for NYC. You tell us: What do you think of Mick Jagger’s comment?   Funny and/or harmless! Lighten up people! Not appropriate at this event. View Poll »

Paul McCartney Does Kurt Cobain for Nirvana of the Day

In the event you were under a rock, there was a Hurrican Sandy concert to raise money for the 200 dead and destruction caused by the Hurricane, that featured every top British act from the 60s- Paul McCartney, Rolling Stones, Pink Floydd, Led Zepplin I don’t fucking know the line up…I just know some celebs were manning the phones, and I called a dozen times, not to donate but for phone sex, and didn’t get one…. The biggest news, was that Paul McCartney was going to play Kurt Cobain in a Nirvana reunion….andI don’t really care who plays Kurt Cobain, I just woulda rather seen Courtney Love shitting on stage like she was G.G. Allin, you know cuz the guilt of having Kurt Cobain killed for her own career has driven her to rock fucking bottom….and rock fucking bottom is more fun to watch than a 70 year old music legend singing 90s grunge…but I guess it’s kinda cool…even if I was only into one Nirvana song and that was because it was a Leadbelly song…and slave music from the 30s speaks to me more than teen angst from Seattle in the early 90s…but anyway you look at it, this performance ooozes talent…here’s the video. TIS THE SEASON
