Kanye West Drops By King Tut Exhibition In Times Square

Fresh off of a performance at the 2010 BET Awards, Yeezy braved legions of screaming kids and befuddled tourists in New York City’s Times Square to view the King Tut exhibition at the Discovery Times Square Exposition. “He said it was something he really wanted to see,” exhibition rep Alison Buchbinder told MTV News about West’s visit. ‘Ye was snapped checking out artifacts like the gilded coffins of Egyptian pharaohs. Buchbinder said West dropped by on June 29, which would have been two days after the Chicago MC spit his latest single “Power” atop a mountain at the BET Awards. West showed up to the museum rocking a mammoth gold chain — the same bling he sported during his awards show performance — that features a sculptural representation of the Egyptian god Horus. But it appears ‘Ye’s interest in the pharaohs exhibition might have something to do with his upcoming work. A day before his King Tut visit, the star posted several pictures of his Horus chain and pyramid ring on his KanyeWest.com website. A caption accompanying the images reads: “Horus is one of the oldest and most significant deities in the Ancient Egyptian religion, who was worshipped from at least the late Predynastic period through to Greco-Roman times. Horus served many functions in the Egyptian pantheon, most notably being the god of the Sky, god of War and god of Protection.” And West has been toying with other images of royalty in his recent work. The illustrated cover art for West’s single “Power” features the severed head of a monarch with a gilded crown impaled by a sword. Have you checked out the King Tut exhibit? Lindsay Lohan Due in Court For Probation Hearing

By Gil Kaufman Lindsay Lohan Photo: Scott Wintrow/ Getty Images Lindsay Lohan is due in court on Tuesday (July 6) for a probation revocation hearing that could land the once promising actress in jail again. According to The Associated Press, Lohan will appear before Judge Marsha Revel in a Beverly Hills, California, courtroom following the revocation of her probation in May, after she missed a scheduled hearing. The actress, who was traveling overseas at the time for the Cannes Film Festival, blamed her absence on a lost (or stolen) passport. While Lohan’s skipped court appearances and failure to comply with all of the terms of the sentence stemming from her 2007 DUI case have reportedly irritated the judge in the case, it’s possible the prosecutor could seek remedies other than additional jail time for the troubled 24-year-old starlet . The AP reported that Lohan could either be allowed to remain free, in which case she will likely begin work on her much-discussed biopic of porn star Linda Lovelace . Alternately, she could be ordered to jail, in which case she would be taken into custody immediately. It was not clear at press time what her potential sentence might be. Lohan was sentenced to three years probation in 2007 after pleading guilty to two misdemeanor counts of being under the influence of cocaine and no contest to two counts of driving with a blood-alcohol level above 0.08 percent and one count of reckless driving. The plea followed two widely reported arrests earlier that year. She spent a total of 84 minutes in jail in that case. Her probation was extended by a year in October after she failed to fully complete court-mandated alcohol-education classes. Lohan is currently sporting an alcohol-monitoring anklet Judge Revel ordered her to wear in May after she missed a court date due to the passport snafu; Revel also scheduled Tuesday’s hearing at that time to determine whether Lohan had violated her probation. TMZ reported that Lohan, in anticipation of Tuesday’s hearing, spent part of her Fourth of July weekend in alcohol-education classes in an effort to meet her class requirements. Lohan’s SCRAM bracelet was set off after the “Mean Girls” actress attended an MTV Movie Awards afterparty, which in turn prompted Revel issue a warrant for Lohan’s arrest and double her bail to $200,000 . Christian man wants to castrate his son for masturbating

My youngest son has been masturbating a lot lately and no matter how many beatings I give him, he just doesn't stop. I looked to see if the Bible had any solutions to this and Mark 9:43 popped into my head. Mark 9:43: And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: I don't want to cut his hands off since he needs them to hold his Bible. So I was wondering if this could be applied to his genitals instead. If he doesn't have any genitals, he won't be able to masturbate, right? My neighbor did the same thing with his dog last year and he's been behaving a lot better since. I have a good friend, a retired butcher from my village and he's willing to perform the surgery next weekend. I know my son won't be able to bring me any grandchildren but I'll just leave that up to my other sons instead. However, I'm not entirely sure whether this is the right thing to do but I think this might be the only way to save my boy from burning in hell for eternity. What are your thoughts on this? Lindsay Lohan Reportedly Punched By Waitress

Another day, more drama for a train wreck. Lindsay Lohan claims, via Twitter, that she was punched by a waitress at L.A. club Voyeur early Friday. “A waitress just hit me – punched me for no reason,” Linds wrote around 1 a.m. A witness reports, strangely, that Lohan – who sipped Red Bulls and hid her SCRAM bracelet with thigh-high boots on her 24th birthday – is right. But why? Who just drills Lindsay Lohan in the face without provocation? “The waitress has a history with Doug Reinhardt,” says the source. Looking to let loose (sober) to ring in her 24th year alive, Lindsay went to a party at the nearby Rockstar House and ran into the waitress again! “Lohan showed up and cried because the waitress was there as well,” says another source. “Some birthday.” Indeed. More Eclipse Reviews: A Mixed Bag

We loved Eclipse . We thought it was the best Twilight film so far . But we may be alone. Below, we’ve posted excerpts from a number of movie critics around the country. None of them lambasted the flick, but few were overly enthusiastic about, either. If you’ve seen Eclipse , we’d ‘d love to hear your thoughts on it. Comment away now… I can’t pretend that the third episode instilled a fever in my blood, but it didn’t leave me cold. For the first time in the series I felt I’d seen a real movie. – The Wall Street Journal As long as these movies remain about three petulant whiners staring at each other to little effect, no rousing action sequences are going to save them from their torpor. – Las Vegas Weekly Saying that the third film in a series with two pretty weak prior entries is the best of the bunch may be faint praise, but that happens to be the case with Eclipse. – IGN Director David Slade keeps the action brisk and the time-killing attractive … All of which should be like a freshly opened vein for fans. – NPR Kristen Stewart may be one of the most promising actresses of her generation or she may be trapped in amber forever as the drippy but inexplicably ultra-desirable Bella. – Detroit News The first two movies were mediocre, but “Eclipse” represents one of the more astonishing upgrades in movie franchise history. – Richard Roeper This is definitely the worst installment of the franchise to date.

‘Real World: Boston’ Alum Sean Duffy Running For Congress

By Josh Wigler Sean Duffy Photo: MTV News Former “Real World: Boston” castmember Sean Duffy is looking to move from reality-television star to congressman. Duffy, a conservative district attorney, is considered a strong contender to win the Republican primary in Wisconsin’s Seventh Congressional District, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times. The position is currently held by outgoing democrat David Obey. Duffy was thought of as a long shot to win, since Obey has maintained the position since his election in 1969, but the incumbent congressman announced his decision not to seek re-election in early May. Duffy’s campaign website includes the politician’s stance on key issues like the economy, health care, education, national defense and agriculture. He has received endorsements from notable GOP figures including onetime vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin and former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty. When Obey was still a candidate for Congress, Palin likened Duffy’s campaign as an example of the “many daring Davids [taking] on entrenched Goliaths” across the United States political landscape. “We’ve had 2,100 online contributions over the course of our campaign, which means we’ve had great support not just here in Wisconsin, but great national support,” Duffy said in a video message posted to his website June 21. The Times reports that Duffy has raised $600,000 during his campaign. Duffy has served as Ashland County’s district attorney since 2002. Outside of politics, he is best known as a veteran of MTV’s “The Real World: Boston.” His wife, Rachel Campos-Duffy, is also a “Real World” alumnus; she appeared during the show’s San Francisco-set third season, and the two met during “Road Rules: All Stars” in 1998. In a recent interview with Vibe, BEP frontman Will.I.Am dished on the group’s plan for the ultimate concert experience with the help of mastermind director James Cameron. “Right now, we are planning our 3-D tour movie, and James Cameron is directing it,” Will revealed. “We have the biggest director, because we are the biggest group on the planet. The Peas are filming it in South America. People will be able to see us in the theater with the 3-D glasses and everything.” With Cameron onboard, Will is convinced that the yet-untitled musical film will stand out among the rest with a “dope” story line. “It’s a full-length film, and it’s based around our tour activities,” he said about the film, tentatively scheduled to hit theaters early next year. “We’ve toured from America and Europe, to the Middle East, South America, Asia and Africa. It’s not like we go, ‘Yo, we are international, you know what I’m saying? London and Paris!’ Nah, that’s just two cities. We want to go across the planet.” Despite Fergie telling MTV News that she wasn’t “even thinking about another solo album” last fall, it seems like she might have had a change of mind. Will.I.Am revealed to the magazine that the songstress does want to do another album on her own to follow up her smash debut, The Dutchess. “Fergie wants to do another solo record, so of course we are going to do that,” he said. “We have material ready for that. But right now, we are focused on the Peas — our world tour and the movie.” Just last week, Will denied rumors that he and Fergie were dueling in a band battle. “Don’t believe gossip about Fergie leaving the group (we are never breaking up) it’s all lies!!!” he tweeted.
