Nicki Minaj Teases Twerkin’, Fried Chicken From Video Set

‘Barbz, shld i twerk in the stupid hoe vid???’ Minaj asks fans. By Jocelyn Vena Nicki Minaj Photo: Frank Micelotta/Getty Images If Nicki Minaj ‘s latest Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded track, “Stupid Hoe,” seems off-the-wall, her fans should probably expect the video to be as well. And given the hints that the fierce MC has dropped on Twitter, something zany is definitely in store. Over the course of the last few days, the singer has been keeping her Barbz and Kenz up-to-date on the video shoot, which will by all accounts feature multiple costume changes, multiple setups and even some fried chicken. “Next shot is in a bathing suit and [hairstylist] terrence got me eating fried chkn and carrot cake!” she tweeted, later adding, “gettin my nailz done. still shootin the vid. 2 more looks!!!!” The rapper later posted a photo of her manicure, which featured animal prints and rainbow colors. “Barbz, shld i twerk in the stupid hoe vid???” she asked. “but i 4got my twerkin moves … dang.” She may not end up twerkin’ in the video, but as of Wednesday, she still had some work to do on the clip, so it seems anything could make the final cut. “Stupid Hoe” will be the second video off of Minaj’s February 14 release. Earlier this month, she teased the clip for “Roman Reloaded,” the album’s lead single. “Well, [Roman] was there [in Moscow] secretly because [alter ego] Martha wanted him to go there, so they put him in this thing with monks and nuns; they were trying to rehabilitate him,” Minaj explained. “But I can’t tell exactly what happened, you’ll just see it in the video format, but let’s just say he got out of there.” Minaj added that the video for “Roman in Moscow” “will be shot real soon.” Those aren’t the only Minaj videos that fans are excited for. Her clip for Madonna’s lead single, “Gimme All Your Luvin,” had everyone buzzing when she tweeted about a kiss she shared with the Queen of Pop. While little is known about that video, a behind-the-scenes photo of Nicki donning red sunglasses and hanging out with M.I.A. on set hit the Web late Tuesday night. Related Artists Nicki Minaj

Britney Spears’ Big 2011: From A Smash Album To A Ring On Her Finger

A decade into her career, the pop megastar reinvented herself this year as the ultimate Femme Fatale and made a big commitment to Jason Trawick. The singer turned 30 this year, marking the landmark birthday on December 2 with a fan-voted MTV News tournament that crowned the Best Britney Video of All Time . But her 30th year also proved to be an incredibly successful period in her career. For the first time in a while, she seemed comfortable being the pop megastar that she is. More than a decade into her career, Spears re-emerged as a Femme Fatale, giving fans a fist-pumping album, embarking on a flashy tour and dropping more memorable music videos. Britney Spears fandom was reenergized as the singer came out of her shell, opening up about this phase in her career as well her personal life in several high-profile interviews. So it’s probably not surprising that Spears will cap off the year at #4 on MTV News’ Top Newsmakers of 2011 list, just behind Lil Wayne. “When I was younger, I was busy, busy, and I was always singing and dancing all the time. I was just really creative,” she recalled in the MTV special “I Am the Femme Fatale.” “That’s when my mom realized I’m a really creative person.” She let that creativity shine over the past 12 months. Britney Spears’ Engagement Begins ‘A New Chapter’

It’s a ‘good step’ toward happiness in her life, Jordan Miller of Britney fan site Breatheheavy.com says. By Christina Garibaldi Jason Trawick and Britney Spears in Las Vegas Photo: Denise Truscello/ WireImage Britney Spears is “still glowing” after longtime boyfriend Jason Trawick popped the question to the pop star on Friday. The two spent the weekend in Las Vegas, where Spears flashed her Neil Lane engagement ring, as they celebrated their upcoming nuptials as well as Trawick’s 40th birthday. Friends and family have been showing their support and well-wishes for the couple’s upcoming wedding, including Spears’ ex-husband Kevin Federline , who told TV Week magazine that he was “really happy for her.” Yet it seems that no one is as happy for Spears than her die-hard fans. MTV News spoke with Las Vegas-based webmaster Jordan Miller, who runs Spears’ biggest fan site, BreatheHeavy.com , and he told us just how thrilled he is about the news. “I was pretty excited for Britney when I found out she was engaged,” Miller said. “I think it’s a good step for her to have some sort of relationship where she can share her feelings and thoughts about her life, so I’m happy for her I think it’s really good for her.” And it seems all of his followers agree. “The overwhelming reaction from fans about the news of Britney’s engagement is that they’re really happy for her,” Miller said. “They think it’s such good timing for her, to finish the tour and kind of have a break and be able to start a new chapter in her life. So I think the majority of fans are really happy for Britney and that it’s definitely a good step for her.” The news doesn’t come as a big shock to Miller, since rumors of Britney’s engagement have been swirling for months. “I wasn’t surprised about the news of Britney being engaged. There were rumors for the last six months pretty much saying he was going to do it in December,” Miller said of the couple, who have been dating since 2009 . “So it’s cool to see that it actually happened and she’s going to get married.” Details have not been released as to when Britney will tie the knot, but it seems Miller already has the perfect wedding gift in mind from all of her fans. “If fans could get Britney a cool present, it would be a vacation to a tropical island where she didn’t have to be around anyone but Jason,” Miller said. What do you think of Britney’s engagement? Let us know in the comments.

Swedish House Mafia Set To Take Over Madison Square Garden

‘It’s one of those moments you’re never going to forget as long as you live,’ Steve Angello says about MSG one-night stand. By Adam Stewart, with additional reporting by Akshay Bhansali Axwell and Steve Angello of Swedish House Mafia Photo: MTV News The boys are back in town — and this time they’ve gone big. In fact, it doesn’t get much bigger. Just two years shy of the anniversary of their New York City debut at M2 nightclub, Swedish House Mafia is revved up and ready to rock Madison Square Garden on Friday (December 16) with their high-energy, heart-pounding sight-and-sound spectacular. Group members Steve Angello and Axwell took time out of their jam-packed schedule on Thursday to sit down with MTV News and share their excitement for the night that the dance music world can’t stop talking about. “It’s just pretty unbelievable,” Axwell gushed. “We were obviously scared when we decided to do it because it’s such a big place, it’s such an expensive place to rent and it’s hard to fill. But so many people bought tickets and it sold out in 10 minutes, and just, Wow! you know? It’s really amazing that we have that sort of appreciation this side of the Atlantic.” “[Madison Square Garden] is great. It’s a beautiful place,” said Angello. “Since we were kids, we’ve always seen the hockey and basketball [games]. It’s one of those places — it’s the Garden. It’s everyone in basketball’s favorite place to play, and it’s just magic — it’s New York!” Their presence at one of the world’s most iconic venues is certainly reflective of the exploding EDM scene here in the States as well as one of the world’s most important music cities. The Swedes have been an integral factor in cultivating the sonic palette of cool culture in America. “New York is one of those places where you’re always shocked when you leave a show here because of the energy and the crowd,” Angello said. “I know how I’m going to feel tomorrow after the show. It’s one of those moments you’re never going to forget as long as you live — one of those key moments in your career” This moment has been so massive in the Big Apple that the trio decided to add a second show, in what’s being dubbed an afterparty, just up the street at the Roseland Ballroom. All of the action is paired with the highly anticipated digital release of their latest single, “Antidote,” a collaboration brought forth by Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen of Pendulum, under their dubstep-infused production moniker, Knife Party. “Steve was in the tour in Australia, [he] met up with Knife Party and started out with the idea there,” Axwell said. “[But] we wanted the track to have some sort of identity, we wanted to have the instrumental and all, but it would be nice with some identity, [so] we started working with a guy named Klas

Britney Spears ‘Gets A Kick Out Of Fist Pumping,’ Pauly D Says

‘Jersey Shore’ star teases his gig with Spears this weekend in Puerto Rico. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Sway Calloway Giancarlo Esposito in “Breaking Bad” Photo: AMC Pauly D has a lot of experience playing shows with Britney Spears . He not only opened for her in Las Vegas earlier this year during the taping of her “I Am the Femme Fatale” MTV special , but he later hit the road with Spears for her Femme Fatale tour . So opening for the princess of pop as she wraps up her world tour this weekend won’t be too difficult for the “Jersey Shore” star. He’s slated to appear with her on December 10 in Puerto Rico. It’s the very last stop on the months-long, sprawling trek around the globe. Since Pauly last hit the road with pop’s ultimate femme fatale , he told MTV News that he has been keeping in touch with his pal. “Yeah [we keep in contact], oh yeah, for sure,” he said. “A lot of tweets.” While Pauly played it coy during our chat about the upcoming gig, he did give us just enough hints to let us know that the show is indeed all set for Saturday. “There’s rumors; rumors have it that I might be on that tour,” he joked. “I’m not sure. I’d love to. I hope so. I like Puerto Rico and it’s nice this time of year.” Is there any chance that Britney might make an appearance on Pauly’s in-the-works solo reality show while he’s out there with her? “She’s busy. She’s really busy and I’d love to link up with her and get her on this ’cause doing her tour, that was another dream for me, to do an artist’s tour. I’ve been a fan of Britney my whole life, so it’s been great for me.” “She was happy for me,” he continued. “She was like, ‘Oh you’re going to be fist pumping on the show.’ She gets a kick out of the fist pumping.” If that appearance doesn’t pan out, DJ Pauly D needn’t worry too much. He just announced his deal with 50 Cent’s G-Note Records , a step that should help to take his DJ career to the next level. 50 spoke to MTV News about the deal earlier this week, teasing some big things. “Pauly’s project is not all his performance on the actual records,” Fif explained of the “hit record” he hopes to make with the DJ, set for release in 2012. “It’s more like what you would get from a DJ Khaled or DJ Drama but also what you would get from David Guetta — so it’s a cross between those two worlds, and I think it’s exciting.” Fans of Pauly D are also pumped for the latest season of his hit MTV series “Jersey Shore.” Just this week, a season 5 trailer dropped and there seems to be enough drama, GTL and smushing to go around for everyone. “There was a lot of tension in [Italy], because we were away from our friends, away from our family, so all we had was each other — that’s it,” Pauly said. “So now we literally ran to Jersey, because we missed it so much, and we just shared that bond, because we’ve been there before, so we enjoyed it with everybody this year. It was really one of my best years , I think.” The fifth season of “Jersey Shore” premieres Thursday, January 5, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Selena Gomez ‘Humbled’ By 2011

‘I feel like this approach of this year, I wasn’t expecting any of the things that happened,’ Gomez says. By Jocelyn Vena Selena Gomez Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Selena Gomez has had quite a year. Not sure what we’re talking about? Let us refresh your memory. She toured, hosted the VMA pre-show , hosted the EMA show in Belfast, Northern Ireland, released several music videos off her album When the Sun Goes Down, including “Hit the Lights,” starred in the flick “Monte Carlo” and said goodbye to her Disney series, “The Wizards of Waverly Place.” So when Gomez looks back on 2011, what will she remember most? “To be honest, it would probably be when my series ended and not in, like, a happy way, but it was kind of like it was a new chapter in my life,” she told MTV News. “I think it was a really interesting time for me and that time in this year was probably my favorite.” The series wrapped filming earlier this year, but will continue airing into early 2012. While saying goodbye to her show resonated with the star, she could have never foreseen how big her We Own the Night Tour would be. “My music, for sure, [surprised me], like touring. I definitely was excited to get on the road and be able [to have] my first headlining tour,” she said. “I was excited to go everywhere and meet my fans and experience different places. To be honest, I didn’t expect the tour to do as well as it did, and we went to Canada and Canada was amazing and made me feel very humbled.” As 2011 rolls along, Gomez is going into the coming year with the same philosophy she had for the last. “I feel like this approach of this year, I wasn’t expecting any of the things that happened,” she said. “And so I just kind of want to go into the end of this year and the beginning of next year just excited and in a good place and not planning anything.” Before the new year does come along, Gomez has some plans to just spend the holidays with those she loves. “I’m gonna have a week off for Thanksgiving, which will be nice, and then a week and a half or two weeks for Christmas time,” she said. “And then I’m going to just relax and do nothing.” She has a busy year ahead of her that includes hitting the set of her next film, “Spring Breakers,” co-starring James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens and Emma Roberts.

Foo Fighters Opener Joy Formidable Talk ‘Surreal’ Tour

‘We’re loving every single minute of it,’ Welsh rockers tell MTV News of playing large venues. By Vaughn Trudeau Schoonmaker The Joy Formidable Photo: Getty Images Shortly before Welsh rock band the Joy Formidable took the stage at New York’s Madison Square Garden to open for the Foo Fighters earlier this month, they sat down with MTV News to discuss what a great experience the tour has been for them. “It’s such a delight being on tour with the Foos and Social Distortion,” lead singer Ritzy Bryan said, giving a shout-out to the tour’s other opening act. “The Foos heard a track of ours on the radio and really liked it,” she explained of how they came to be on the tour. “It just happened really naturally, you know, picking up on a band, supporting new music. [They] invited us on tour on the back of that. “It’s very surreal,” she added. “We’ve been playing some really big venues.” Though the band is accustomed to playing larger venues back in the U.K., all three members, including bassist Rhydian Dafydd and drummer Matt Thomas, agree that playing Madison Square Garden really means something special. “When you talk to people about Madison Square Garden back on home soil, it’s like, ‘Wow, what an iconic venue,’ ” Dafydd weighed in with a big smile. The already chipper musicians all lit up even more when we asked them what’s next for them. “We’re very, very busy now writing our next record,” Bryan said. “[We’re] just losing ourselves in that at the moment. We’re very, very happy to be here and loving every single minute of it.” The Joy Formidable are currently headlining their own leg of a North American tour. Visit their website for dates.
