Justin Bieber Records With Boyz II Men: The Photo Evidence!

Check out a photo of Bieber and Shawn Stockton recording together. By Jocelyn Vena Shawn Stockton and Justin Bieber in the studio Photo: LiveWire Entertainment As if the Twitter back-and-forth weren’t enough to get fans excited for their Christmas-themed collaboration, MTV News now has photo evidence of Justin Bieber and Boyz II Men singer Shawn Stockton in the studio together. In the photo, both guys are seen looking casual in baseball caps and T-shirts. They shared a high-five in the studio, which was even decorated with Christmas lights. The guys had a bit of a Twittermance post-session that had the veteran Boyz reminding the teen phenom to never forget the wisdom they shared with him. And whatever that advice was, it certainly made an impression on Bieber. “I’m not gonna forget. THANK U!!” he tweeted . Bieber has a busy fall ahead of him. As he readies the release of his Christmas album, he’s also getting ready to hit the road in South America and Mexico. “Back in the studio putting the finishing touches on this Christmas album and getting the tour stuff together,” he tweeted. The tour will kick off later this month in Mexico and will make its way around South America, including stops in Brazil and Argentina. He’ll wrap up the stint at the end of October. He’s pretty much off the road until December and January, when he has two stops planned in Illinois. “Seeing all the love for the S AMERICAN fans … tour is less than a month away. Who got tickets in BRAZIL? in Argentina? in Mexico? in Chile?” he tweeted. Related Artists Justin Bieber Boyz II Men

‘Star Trek 2’ Officially Lands J.J. Abrams As Director

Helmer of the 2009 franchise could begin shooting this winter, according to reports. By Gil Kaufman J.J. Abrams Photo: Getty Images Sometimes, if you wait long enough (and blog hard enough), the universe will hear your cries of anguish and soothe them with a big glass of thirst-quenching Romulan Ale. Or, better yet, provide confirmation that J.J. Abrams has finally committed to directing the “Star Trek” sequel. Either way, you’re pretty psyched. After indicating that he was still up in the air about directing the anticipated sequel to his wildly successful reboot of the space franchise, New York Magazine’s Vulture blog is reporting that Abrams is onboard and that pre-production is under way. Citing unnamed insiders familiar with the “Super 8” director’s plans, Vulture reported that the script is expected to be done by month’s end and that shooting could begin this winter. Entertainment Weekly confirmed the news on Wednesday (September 14). Abrams recently finished shooting the fourth “Mission: Impossible” movie, “Ghost Protocol” — which again stars Tom Cruise, along with Ving Rhames, Jeremy Renner, Josh Holloway and Paula Patton — has hedged in the past about whether he would take up another tour on the Enterprise before a killer script was in place. In August, he told Collider , “Once you say, ‘We’re ready to go, but we don’t have a finished script yet,’ or, ‘I’m directing the thing and here’s the release date, but we don’t have a finished script,’ what starts to happen is that you’re suddenly in production on a movie where you’re thinking, ‘Oh my God, we weren’t really ready!’ ” In July, producer/screenwriter Damon Lindelof told MTV News that work has continued on the script, even as the director’s chair question remained up in the air. “There was a lot of work going on over the course of the last year between Bob [Orci] and Alex [Kurtzman] and I,” he said. “We generated, like, a 90-page half-script half-treatment based on some meetings that we’ve had with J.J [Abrams]. Now that J.J. is finally finished with ‘Super 8’ we’ve kind of, not thrown out that material, but we’re reworking a lot of it.” Describing how the four writers wrote the original movie, Lindelof said, “Those four people sort of sitting in a room bouncing ideas off each other, challenging those ideas, sort of shaking the tree.” At the time, he said the idea was to get back to that form of creative thinking. “Because ‘Trek 2’ has to be better than ‘Trek 1,’ ” he said, likening the sequel to the increase in quality from the already great “Batman Begins” to the exceptional “The Dark Knight.” “It has to.” He said at the time that they were working hard to make a great leap forward in storytelling. “We are deep into that process now and writing.” A spokesperson for Paramount Pictures could not be reached for comment at press time. Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed Wedding Invitation: Released, Hilarious!

Following a filmed proposal , Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed will get married on October 1 at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The couple, who has actually been together for nearly three decades, released its wedding invitation to the world today. And the two-part message is rather laid back and hilarious. First, we have a request for “classy cocktail attire,” with smaller print that adds: “although we know some Rockstar attire will be worn.” Next, we have a family portrait of Simmons, Tweed and their two kids, with writing that includes: “There will no longer be a Team Tweed or a Team Simmons but instead a Team Tweed-Simmons and as annoyingly long as that is, we hope you’re on it.” THG definitely is now.

T.I. Back in Federal Custody After Failing to Disclose Pimp Ass Tour Bus Ride

Only a day after T.I.’s release from prison , the rapper is already back in federal custody, and according to reports, it’s all over a luxury tour bus incident. Say what now? The Federal Bureau of Prisons and T.I.’s lawyer Steve Sadow confirm he’s back in custody after traveling from a federal Arkansas prison to an Atlanta halfway house on a PIMP ASS TOUR BUS, a method of transportation that did not sit well with officials. T.I. was sentenced in October to 11 months in prison for violating probation, but was let out early to finish the rest of his sentence (and film a reality show , which officials are reportedly having none of now) in a halfway house. However, he allegedly misled prison officials into thinking he’d be taking a low-key mode of transportation from the prison to the halfway house. Guess a tricked out tour bus doesn’t qualify a low-key. The deal is this: When a prisoner is incarcerated in a low or medium security prison, officials do at times allow the inmate to use a private, unescorted mode of transportation to travel from the prison facility to the halfway house. During the process of approving such a transfer, however, the prisoner must state specifically what mode of transportation he or she will be using. Sources say that T.I. informed prison officials that he would be taking some sort of van, making no mention of the high-end, pimped out tour bus. Prison officials felt that the rapper should’ve fully disclosed the nature of his party bus, and brought him back to Arkansas for this infraction alone. Neither drugs nor alcohol were found on the bus. Even more amazingly, when U.S. Marshals arrived at the halfway house to bring T.I. back to prison, the halfway house supervisor actually got into an argument with them, saying it was ridiculous to send him back for such a violation.

Cole took Cee Lo’s place on Rihanna’s “Loud” tour after Cee Lo pulled out of the tour. Should Rihanna Cancel Her Nivea Contract Because Of Their Racist Ad?

Nivea wants black men to “re-civilize” themselves by adhering to Nivea guidelines and style experts who think this is how a black man should look: As you can see an Afro and beard would make black men appear too close to barbaric even though this is how most black men’s hair would naturally grow in. The black community is up in arms and even though Nivea has apologized and admitted that the ad was inappropriate people are questioning if Rihanna should cancel her Nivea endorsement. Rihanna reportedly received five million dollars from the skin mavens who also sponsored her tour. Why This Nivea For Men Ad Is “Uncivilized” [OPINION] We have seen plenty cases where after a celebrity who is endorsing a major product does something publicly inappropriate, are dropped faster than you can remember them being apart of the brand. So should it be the same if a company does something unflattering? Rihanna Posing Nude For Nivea Ad Campaign Should Rihanna cancel Nivea faster than Nike canceled Mike Vick?

Pukkelpop Festival Death Toll Rises To Five

Organizers call off Belgium event, which featured Eminem, Foo Fighters, Wiz Khalifa and many others, after deaths following stage collapse. By Gil Kaufman Revelers leave the Pukkelpop music festival Photo: AFP/Getty Images Officials in Belgium canceled the Pukkelpop music festival on Friday after the death toll in a stage collapse rose to five. Two more people died overnight after a freak thunderstorm ripped through the festival site in Hasselt, ripping down trees and destroying a stage while Chicago rock band the Smith Westerns were performing their set. According to MSNBC , none of the band’s members were hurt, but their equipment was destroyed in the fourth major incident involving a concert stage collapse this summer. Organizers decided to cancel the rest of the fest and brought in buses and trains to transfer the 60,000 festivalgoers home. The action came after a brief, violent thunderstorm passed through on Thursday evening, collapsing concert tents and the main stage scaffolding, sending panicked concertgoers out into fields of mud in search of shelter. At least 140 people were injured in the incident, 10 of them seriously. “Pukkelpop is in deep mourning,” festival organizer Chokri Mahassine said in a statement. “What has happened is very exceptional and could not have been predicted.” Not aware of the severity of the situation at the time, Smith Westerns singer Cullen Omori tweeted about the stage collapse as it happened. He first complained about the band’s equipment being destroyed (in a since-deleted post) and then wrote, “praying no one go hurt. Wtf.” The band later issued a statement about the collapse. “We had just finished the first song of our set at Pukkelpop when the stage/tent started shaking and simply thought it was a storm passing through. I made a comment about Cheap Trick and we were about to play the next one when our tour manager yelled at me to run off the stage. Right then the tress collapsed one foot in front of Max. At this point we thought only the stage broke, not the tent. Amid the chaos it was hard to tell exactly what had happened, but after the rescue teams started coming in it became clear that there were severe injuries and we are now being told there are reports of multiple deaths. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families who lost loved ones in today’s tragedy.” The festival’s lineup included the Foo Fighters, 30 Seconds to Mars , Wiz Khalifa, Rise Against and Eminem. A Facebook page has been set up to honor the victims and a number of bands tweeted their condolences. “Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the tragic events at Pukkelpop,” the Foos tweeted . “We are all safe at Pukkelpop. Crazy storm. This is awful. Hearts go out to all,” added Fleet Foxes . Eminem was slated to headline on Friday (August 19), on a bill that also included the Ting Tings, Deftones, Crystal Castles and D12. Saturday’s show was to feature the Offspring, Kasabian, the Kills, Lykke Li, Busy P and Odd Future. The Pukkelpop tragedy follows on the heels of earlier stage collapses this summer at shows by Cheap Trick and the Flaming Lips, and just last week, Sugarland , where five people were killed.

Janet Jackson Says Kevin Garnett Was Tryin’ To Smash Back In The Day… Talks Nicki Minaj Wardrobe Malfunction

Damn… KG couldn’t get no love and JD got to hit that? Janet Jackson is making her way to Minneapolis Friday as part of her “No. Ones: Up Close and Personal Tour” (her first tour since Michael’s death) and the singer spoke candidly with their local Star Tribune about a plethora of interesting topics, including how former Minnesota Timberwolves player Kevin Garnett tried to get a piece and her thoughts on Nicki Minaj’s recent “wardrobe malfunction.” Check out the excerpts below: Janet Jackson knows her way around the Twin Cities, since she recorded most of her hits here with producer/songwriters Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. However, she hasn’t been here lately; Jam and Lewis moved to Los Angeles several years ago and she hasn’t worked with them since her “20 Y.O.” album in 2006. Jackson, 45, agreed to answer some questions via email. Her answers were short and sweet, punctuated with emoticons. She didn’t give direct or in-depth responses about such controversies as her lip-syncing in concert and her infamous 2004 Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction but she did address them. Q: What will it be like to perform all your hits in Minneapolis, where so many were written and recorded? A: It is going to be fun for me! I can’t wait to get back to Minneapolis and see all my fans there. Q: What’s your favorite memory of Minneapolis? A: I have so many, but being in Minneapolis to record “Control” stands out. It was the first time I was recording a CD without my family. It was a great. Q: I heard some guys stalked you by your hotel when you were recording “Control” in 1985. What’s that story? A: “Nasty” is the story for that question. That song came out of that experience. Q: What did Kevin Garnett say to you later after you brought him onstage at Target Center for the seductive “Rope Burn” in 1998? A: Kevin Garnett wanted to hook up. :0) Q: What do you like most about this tour? The least? A: I am having so much fun on this tour. It is the largest ever world tour for me. Whenever possible, I am choosing more intimate venues. I love being able to see everyone’s face in the audience. Q: What is it like to perform “Scream” without your brother Michael? A: It is amazing. It’s very therapeutic. The energy of the song is fierce but it makes me smile inside when I hear him, when I hear his voice. Q: What goes through your mind onstage on this tour vs. what went through your mind onstage during your arena tours? A: All I can think about during the show is how much fun I am having and how grateful I am to all the fans who have supported me all these years. Q: Why do you end the show with “Together Again”? A: I love what the song says… I am letting the audience know that we will be together again… hopefully soon! Q: Over the years, some people have said that Janet lip-syncs in concert. What’s the situation on this tour? Is all your singing live? A: Yes, I am singing live. WOW… 1998??? They went all the way there with it. Glad Janet got a chance to clear up the lip synchin rumors though. Keep reading for more…

Cry Me A River: Tavis Smiley And Cornel West Are Gettin’ Major Hate For Criticizing President Obama

These ninjas got the “And what?!?” face There’s been a lot of controversy over the last few weeks surrounding the Poverty Tour organized by Tavis Smiley and Cornel West. The pair has used the nine-state, 18-city event to both highlight the struggle of the nation’s poor as well as to criticize President Obama for what they say is a laissez-faire attitude toward economically marginalized Americans. But in response, they have been labeled as self-promoting, self-serving Obama haters. They have become pariahs in some circles. The blowback has even become personal and nasty, with the comedian Steve Harvey recently calling the duo “Uncle Toms” and the Rev. Al Sharpton and radio personality Tom Joyner taking various shots at them. But as Smiley sat on the Poverty Tour bus on Friday headed to Memphis, Tenn., the final stop on their trip, he said the tour had gone exactly the way he and West had planned. “I am very clear on who I am and who I am not, what I can do and what I can not,” he said during a phone interview. “I have a platform that I can use to bring awareness, to draw attention and create a conversation.” He then rattled off a list of news outlets that covered some aspect of the tour, including “Nightline,” C-Span and CNN, the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun Times, Life Magazine, The Root, The Nation, the Associated Press, NBC, CBS, and The Huffington Post. “The tour did everything it was supposed to do,” he said. “And its not just about raising awareness, it’s about starting a dialogue about poverty and the poor in this country. I don’t get intimidated by haters. Not only are we not intimidated, if we had more resources and time, we would extend the tour,” Smiley said. “The question that I would pose to the critics is not why are we doing what we are doing or saying, it’s ‘if you care about poor people why aren’t you doing anything?’” All the hate the people are tossing Smiley and West’s way hasn’t fallen on numb ears… “For me it hurts, when this jumped off a few years ago and I was the one person nationally and personally raising questions of accountability,” Smiley said. “They wanted Barack Obama to win by any means necessary. I got that then and I get it now, but it hurts and I shed a lot of tears, had a lot of conversations with Dr. West.” “So, it hurts, and it brings me to tears, but at the end of the day I don’t know any other way to live,” he added. “And so what I’ve said to black people is I love you and ain’t nothing you can do about it. These Negroes have tried, but I love them anyway.” Boo-f’n-hoo. The POTUS has a tough job to do, and maybe he’s not doin everything that everyone wants when they want it, but he’s definitely servicing the community. Source
