The Walking Dead Season 3 trailer was released this weekend at Comic-Con 2012, and gives fans glimpses of new characters, locations and battles to come. With Michonne (Danai Gurira) and The Governor (David Morrisey) and the prison all front and center, the AMC sensation is coming back with a vengeance. After Rick proclaims “this prison is ours,” you know the showdown between the survivors and a prison full of zombies is going to be nothing short of epic. This four-minute taste of The Walking Dead Season 3 is worth every second. Check it out below, and remember people, three words: Fear the Living .

Good Morning America Greets Savannah Guthrie with Ratings Victory

Savannah Guthrie to the rescue? Not after one installment of The Today Show at least. The new anchor’s debut episode was met with a resounding response by her program’s chief rival this week, as Good Morning America scored its first ratings win on a Monday since 2006. Fast affiliate numbers show GMA garnering an advantage of 6,000 households over Today in the key demographic of 24-54-year olds (1.68 million over 1.674 million), along with a 356,000 lead in total viewers (4.425 million over 4.069 million). It’s very, very early, but the dismissal of Ann Curry certainly has not paid immediate dividends for NBC. It looks like the 100 Meters at this month’s Olympics won’t be the only race that network is heavily invested in this summer.

Jennifer Hudson to Recur on Smash Season 2

Jennifer Hudson is bringing her incredible pipes and her impressive acting ability to Smash . The Oscar-winning former American Idol favorite has signed on for her first extended television role, multiple sources confirm, coming on board Smash Season 2 as Veronica, a veteran Broadway star who will cause problems for Megan Hilty’s Ivy and Katharine McPhee’s Karen. Smash got off to a big start for NBC and then faltered tremendously, both in the ratings and in the eyes of critics. It has since replaced its showrunner, let three main cast members go and, along with Hudson, signed Jeremy Jordan of Newsies as a series regular. Look for new episodes to air in January.

Kellan Lutz to Guest Voice on Family Guy

Kellan Lutz is taking his gorgeous face and ripped body to the small screen. Sort of. The Twilight Saga will lend his voice to an upcoming episode of Family Guy , Entertainment Weekly confirms, coming on board this fall as a high school football player who takes Meg out on a date, but… … “he’s interested in another member of the Griffin family – and it’s not one of the women,” teases executive producer Mark Hentemann. Hentemann also joked that Lutz’s recording session went well and the actor is “very handsome.” Okay, that second part was likely not a joke. Despite crashing her car and lying to police , Lindsay Lohan’s career has yet to crash and burn. The hot mess just landed another movie role! Currently starring as Elizabeth Taylor in Liz & Dick , Lohan has also been booked for The Canyons, a contemporary thriller, according to E! The film will document “five twentysomethings’ quest for power, love, sex and success in 2012 Hollywood” and is written by Bret Easton Ellis. It was Ellis himself who first broke news of Lindsay Lohan’s casting on Twitter, along with that of her leading man … porn star James Deen. “James Deen and Lindsay Lohan have been cast in The Canyons,” he wrote in the first of a series of tweets retweeted by Lindsay herself. “And I am beyond thrilled that James Deen and Lindsay Lohan will be playing the parts of Christian and Tara in The Canyons by BEE.” “Could not have dreamed of a better cast. Lindsay nailed it.” That’s what the guy driving the 18-wheeler said. Too soon? Anyway, her camp says that while she got the role and agreed to it, her lawyers are still working out the details, so it’s not quite a done deal. Provided she stays out of jail, she’s excited in any case. “The appeal of this role for Lindsay is getting to work with Paul Schrader,” a source said of the writer-director of Taxi Driver and Raging Bull . Shooting on the film takes place in Los Angeles from July 9-31. Police are still investigating Lohan’s Friday crash on the Pacific Coast Highway, after which she initially claimed her assistant was driving. After that lie, she somehow said her brakes failed . Kate Walsh Appears on Bethenny, Confirms Departure from Private Practice

Yes, Private Practice fans, the rumors are true: Kate Walsh is leaving after the show’s 13-episode sixth season. The actress herself confirmed the news this morning during an appearance on Bethenny , telling the host and her viewers: “This is my last season of Private Practice . It’s been an incredible journey and an amazing ride… and I feel incredibly grateful to [series creator] Shonda Rhimes and all the fans that have been there from day one ’til now.” Bethenny Promo ABC is yet to confirm whether season six will be the final one for the show itself, but Walsh is looking forward to her exit and how it will play out. “I’m really excited about the last season. I am,” she told Frankel, concluding of her decision to depart: “It’s bittersweet… a huge chapter of my life.” Bethenny premiered her daily talk show on Monday by trying to milk divorce rumors for ratings. It was a pathetic display .
