Fran Drescher Threatens to Host Talk Show

A few months ago, Fran Drescher was rumored to be in talks with Fox News and MSNBC about hosting a politics-centered chat show. And last night, the former Nanny star announced her upcoming project on Twitter. (Note: if you are prone to migraines, do not read ahead.) Drescher tweeted, “OMG I ate peach cobler w hm made vanilla ice crm. 2moro got2 b redy @9:30am 4cancer event. Thn hm. Mis BF &dog. I’m doin a sumer tlk shw BTW. ” [ @frandrescher via The Wrap ]

Did South Park Motivate the Attempted Times Square Car Bombing?

By now you’ve heard about the car bomb discovered in Times Square on Saturday night. Inside a dark gray Nissan Pathfinder left running on West 45th St., a lethal recipe of explosives sat waiting to ignite. The bomb malfunctioned instead, and its telltale plumes of smoke were noticed by a heroic T-shirt vendor who quickly reported the suspicious vehicle. As feds investigate the possible terrorist attack today though, they are also checking into a connection between the car bomb and the death threats posed to South Park .

CBS Finally Releases Video Evidence of Conan O’Brien Interview

Because of a clause in his termination contract, Conan O’B rien was banned from appearing on televised interviews until May 1. But now? All bets are off! To celebrate, CBS — in their increasingly strong efforts to make sure you don’t actually tune-in to watch Conan O’B rien on 60 Minutes this Sunday — has released a video clip of the interview, the first evidence that Conan really should have thought of wearing a tie while talking to Steve Croft. Seriously, he looks like a mess. Anyway, click ahead to watch Coco say something you already read on Thursday.

Jeopardy ‘s annual Celebrity Invitational has been spread out over the course of the season this year. Once a month, three celebrities battled to qualify for next week’s big semifinal round. Plenty of formidable competitors have bitten the dust, including Anderson Cooper and big, big loser Wolf Blitzer . Now, Movieline sizes up the remaining nine combatants with projected percentages for success. You’ll be unnerved to know that one of Alex Trebek’s Sony Pictures Studios’ coworkers has a major edge.

What’s On: Trying to Defy Gravity

Starz’s freshman suicide survivor series debuted last week and proved that, like Dead Like Me and Six Feet Under before it, balancing comedy, drama and death is tough. Even with bubbly Kristen Ritter, whose character designed an actual “death by chocolate” cake, the show still has far to go before it finds its footing.

30 Rock Puts Will Forte in a Dress

There has been a not-so-quiet bit of backlash surrounding 30 Rock this season, as its status as the funniest show ever has worn off. This is partially NBC’ s fault — and really what isn’t? — since by putting 30 Rock fourth on a schedule of four comedies, they have created a situation where the audience is facing laughter fatigue by the time it airs. But the blame also rests at the feet of Tina Fey. Too often this year, the narrative plotting has been forgotten from episode to episode. Like, remember Jack’s “have to make a decision!” love triangle from last week? Well good, because you were the only one, since the show made nary a mention of this big decision last night. But then Will Forte showed up in drag and all was forgiven.

Conan O’Brien Drops Late-Night Turncoat Max Weinberg

In the wake of Movieline’s report that Max Weinberg met with Jay Leno to become his new bandleader — a potentially traitorous move, considering that Leno shoved his former employer Conan O’B rien out of the Tonight Show — word is now emerging that Weinberg will not make the move to TNT alongside O’B rien.
