Tyler, The Creator Gets ‘Stupid’ In ‘BSD’ Video

‘I just thought it’d be funny if I ran on the beach in a wig,’ Tyler tells MTV News of NSFW clip. By Rob Markman Tyler, The Creator Photo: MTV News Due to the song’s explicit nature, “B— Suck D—” probably won’t go down as Tyler, The Creator ‘s most popular video, but it might be his funniest. Like the VMA-winning “Yonkers,” Wolf Haley directed the “BSD” clip, which premiered online October 11 and has already racked up more than a million YouTube views. “I just wanted to make a video that’s like the personality of me and my friends on a daily basis of just stupid sh–,” Tyler told MTV News. The Goblin track, which also features Odd Future members Jasper Dolphin and Taco, finds Tyler in one scene doing his best David Hasselhoff impersonation. At the start of his verse, the OFWGKTA frontman runs across a beach with no pants in an obvious “Baywatch” parody. “I just thought it’d be funny if I ran on the beach in a wig. There wasn’t that much thought put into it like any other video. I was just like, ‘I want a video for “BSD,” ‘ ” he said. Jasper is dressed in an orange tracksuit while working out for the cam; Taco, on the other hand, is in the kitchen cooking up a steak. His dish doesn’t look half bad either, until Taco spits on the concoction and then sits his bare bottom atop the raw cut of beef. “When I listen to the song, that’s what comes up: Taco cookin’, Jasper working out with really fat girls in a sh–ty setting and me running down a beach in slow motion not saying any of my f—ing lyrics,” Tyler said. In another scene, Tyler and his merry band of musical misfits take on rap video clich

Aisha Tyler to Co-Host The Talk

The Talk will have something to … talk about in the form Aisha Tyler ( Ghost Whisperer , Friends , and currently Archer ) to the panel of the CBS daytime show. Tyler joins Sara Gilbert, Julie Chen, Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood. The contracts of Leah Remini and Holly Robinson Peete were not renewed. She previously guest-hosted on CBS’ answer to The View , which celebrates its one-year anniversary this month, and made her debut today. Can Aisha Tyler jumpstart The Talk? As part of an attempt to revamp the year-old show, CBS has rotated in a string of guest hosts; Kris Jenner did a stint, as did Molly Shannon. Back in 2009, Tyler shot an eponymous talk show pilot for ABC that was described as a hybrid between daytime and late-night talk shows. It didn’t really pan out. Hopefully this will! Touré Calls Tyler Perry’s Movies: “Cinematic Malt Liquor” [VIDEO]

The rest is here:

Tyler Perry can’t seem to catch a break these days. First Mario Van Peebles took a sideways shot at him (and other Black men wearing dresses in films) at this year’s Urbanworld Film festival and now author Touré has gone for his pearl necklace-adorned jugular. Touré debated the merits of Perry’s films with Newsone contributor Dr. Boyce Watkins, who argued that the “Madea” franchise has helped put people to work. Touré countered that drug dealers create jobs too, but that doesn’t make them good jobs. Watch their discussion on CNN below. Tyler, The Creator Recalls His First Performance, On ‘When I Was 17’

Odd Future’s Tyler, the Creator talks about his achievements on “When I Was 17.” By Kara Warner Tyler, The Creator Photo: MTV News This week’s new episode of “When I Was 17,” airing Saturday (August 27) at 11 a.m., is all about three outspoken rising stars in the hip-hop and rap communities who also happen to be VMA Best New Artist nominees. The most outspoken and unpredictable of the three is Odd Future standout Tyler, the Creator , who revealed that his 17th year featured two career-making moments, the release of his album and his first-ever “concert” performance. “When I was 17, I released The Odd Future Tape. That was my first album as a collective,” Tyler said, adding that the release led to the group’s first-ever performance. “My first performance was a talent show. I didn’t set us up for it, Hodgy did,” he recalled. “I was really excited because I’d never performed before.” Evidently, Tyler went all out during the show and at one point ended up dropping his pants for a not-so-receptive crowd. “I was jumping around, pulled my pants down. During parts of the songs, I would go in the crowd and just wild out and go crazy,” he said. “The guy who put it together, his mom and other family members were in the front. I didn’t know that they were heavy church people.” Unsurprisingly, the group’s performance did not receive an encore at that particular venue. “We were talking about 666 onstage and stuff,” Tyler said. “And then they just cut the music and were like, ‘Hey, get the f— out of here.” Tyler isn’t looking back with any regrets, of course. He’s got two huge VMA nominations to think about, Best New Artist and Video of the Year. “I’m really excited,” Tyler told MTV News of his Video of the Year nod. “Shout out to Ron Artest. If I lose to any of those wackass videos, I’m gonna be mad because they all suck — except for Adele’s.” The Cali rapper/ producer/ director was more willing to discuss his fellow Best New Artist nominees. “The Best New Artist thing, that’s cool,” he said. ” Wiz [Khalifa] is a really good dude and I’ve been a fan of his music, so if he wins I’ll be pretty excited. I wanna win that for sure, but Wiz is awesome, I’ve been listening to him since ’08,” he said. “Even Kreayshawn , she’s cool. So if she wins that too, I’ll be pretty stoked. But you know, I wanna win, I’m just gonna keep it 100.” “When I Was 17” — this week featuring VMA nominees Big Sean, Tyler, the Creator and Kreayshawn — airs Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV. The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live Sunday, August 28, from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT, following the Selena Gomez-hosted pre-show at 8. Tyler, The Creator Defends His Use Of Other F-Word

‘I have gay fans and they don’t really take it offensive,’ Odd Future frontman tells MTV News. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Matt Elias Tyler, the Creator Photo: MTV News Tyler, the Creator and his Odd Future cohorts have raised more than a few eyebrows on their way to rap notoriety. But while their followers praise the collective for their refreshing sound, as well as their renegade approach, some critics have argued that OF are pushing the boundaries of what should be acceptable in rap. On its website, Fader magazine analyzed Tyler’s Goblin album and counted 204 uses of the word “f—,” 68 of the word “bitch” and nine variations of “f–” or “f—-t,” an observation that has some asking whether the polarizing rapper is a misogynistic homophobe. We caught up with the OF frontman this week in Los Angeles and put the question to him. “Well, I have gay fans and they don’t really take it offensive, so I don’t know. If it offends you, it offends you,” Tyler told MTV News of his gay slurs. “If you call me a n—a, I really don’t care, but that’s just me, personally. Some people might take it the other way; I personally don’t give a sh–.” And there you have it. Tyler’s growing fanbase includes a host of major rappers who support the MC. In fact, during an interview with Sway, Eminem gave props to OFWGKTA. “I’ve heard enough to know that it feels like they’re pushing boundaries and buttons, and that’s definitely one of the things that I’m familiar with, especially when I first came out,” Eminem told MTV News on the set of Bad Meets Evil’s “Fast Lane” video in Detroit. “I love it; I love the fact that they’re doing that. And the dudes can rhyme.” Do you find Tyler’s lyrics offensive? Share your thoughts in the comments. Related Artists Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All
