Mama We Made It: “Black Twitter” Now Has An Official Wikipedia Page!

No, we’re not kidding… “Black Twitter” Recognized Through An Official Wikipedia Page Via HuffingtonPost It’s official, Black Twitter has made it. The almighty, powerful force that is the social media community behind “Paula’s Best Dishes” and Black BuzzFeed, and is even responsible for snatching away the book deal dreams of Zimmerman trial juror B37 has left us in awe once again by scoring a page on Wikipedia. The Black Twitter Wikipedia page, which was posted on Wednesday, defines it as a “cultural identity in the Twitter social network focused on issues of interest to the black community, particularly in the United States.” It goes on to chronicle African-Americans’ over-indexing use of the social network, and the distinctly different ways the community interacts on the site, as well as the entity’s influence on social change. Of course, once Black Twitter heard the news, Black Twitter did what Black Twitter does best– erupt into full-blown commentary. As a people, we certainly have the power to create change, discourse, and endless entertainment through our unique use of the social media platform. Amanda Bynes: Barack and Michelle Obama are UGLY!

Barack and Michelle Obama have officially made Amanda Bynes’ ugly list . “Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are ugly!” she tweeted Monday. It’s unclear why the troubled 27-year-old actress added the President and First Lady to a slew of others she’s previously labeled less than attractive. Perhaps it dates back to April 2012, when she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after reportedly sideswiping a police car. Obama, despite Amanda Bynes’ social media pleas, did NOTHING. “I don’t drink … please fire the cop who arrested me,” she requested of the President of the United States on Twitter. “I also don’t hit and run. The end.” In any case, it’s been a rough ride for the actress of late. As the 27-year-old celebrity continues to throw shade on Twitter, people are either tuning her out or dishing it back after each “ugly” tweet she posts. “You’re ugly on the inside AND outside!” one follower wrote in response to Bynes’ post to the Obamas. “But uglier.” “U took it too far,” another wrote. While some Bynes followers agreed with her, others simply felt it was in bad taste. “Wow. You’re a horrible person,” another responded. “Truly horrible.” Wherever you stand on the ugly list or the Obamas’ looks, public concern for Amanda Bynes’ weight loss and plastic surgery obsession is mounting. Seriously. Girl is a little out of control in both areas.

I’m Your Pushaaaa: Special Needs Man Travels 520 Miles By Wheelchair To Talk To President Obama About Legalizing Kush

Ridin’ out for rollin’ up? Now that’s dedication! Man Travels 520 Miles By Wheelchair To Lobby For Legalization Of Kush How far would you go to convince the leader of the free world that piff-puffin’ is a life necessity  and should be legal everywhere? Probably not as far as this man. via Huffington Post Confined to a motorized chair, Curtis Kile, who has Cerebral Palsy, thinks “mean green”should be legal for all. The 52-year-old pointed his wheels from Taylor, Mich. toward 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue on June 14, a 520-mile trek. He says he’s hoping to make his pitch in person to President Barack Obama at the White House on July 4. His 17-year-old son, Curtis Kile, Jr., is accompanying him for the 20-day trek in a Ford Econoline van. Kile Sr. is following the path led by his own father, Charles Curtis Kile, Jr., whom Kile said founded the United Marijuana Smokers of Michigan and once walked from Michigan to the White House in support of “mean-green” legalization. While Kile said his health and pace have been affected by the hot temperatures, he has vowed to press on. “I intend to get a national movement going so it (marijuana) can just be legalized,” he told The Compassion Chronicles. “We have to make it readily available to those who cannot afford it.“ Michigan voters approved medical “mean-green” use for some chronic medical conditions in 2008. But acceptance has been stymied on multiple fronts. Kile told the Detroit Free Press that lobbyists and rival industries, not common sense, have stymied access to marijuana for people who could benefit from it. This man damn near risked his life all for the love of that mean green. SMH. Continue reading

What Did Kim Get Kanye for Father’s Day?

Kim Kardashian made sure her man’s first-ever Father’s Day was a memorable one this year. Kanye West revealed via Twitter that his baby mama gifted him with two Apple computer mice last month, one signed by Steve Jobs and and the other by Steve Wozniak. Their relevance? West told The New York Times recently that his is the Steve Jobs of the Internet . Kanye included the photo above along with his Tweet, one of just seven he has written since May. The entire World Wide Web, of course, continues to wait on photos of North West , as West and Kardashian remain oddly quiet and private regarding their newborn. We hope everything is alright.

Kristen Wiig: No Regrets Over Turning Down Bridesmaids Sequel

It has become almost second nature nowadays that the moment a film is the slightest bit successful and has the scant possibility of a sequel that a second or third, or in some cases even a fourth, movie is thought to be a certainty. So it’s hard to imagine that the hugely popular  Bridesmaids was a one-off, but that’s exactly as Kristen Wiig wanted it. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar , Wiig made it clear that she has no interest in penning a sequel (with co-writer Annie Mumolo) to her 2011 hit. “It wasn’t a hard decision,” she says. “We knew during the first one that this was it. We would have made a lot of money if there was a second one, but that’s not my goal in my creative life.” For now Wiig is undoubtedly focused on her upcoming film,  Girl Most Likely , with Darren Criss, that opens on July 19th. You can check out the  Girl Most Likely trailer  here!

Gay Marriage Resumes in California as SCOTUS Rejects Final Challenge

The U.S. Supreme Court on Sunday denied a final request from Proposition 8 supporters to halt issuance of same sex marriage licenses in California. Justice Anthony Kennedy rejected the appeal with no additional comment. Dozens of same-sex weddings have taken place in the state since Friday, following the Supreme Court’s decision last week to dismiss Proposition 8 . Prop 8 controversially banned gay marriage in the state in 2008, only to be thrown out by appellate courts on grounds that such a ban is unconstitutional. The SCOTUS, which also struck down DOMA , determined that the Prop 8 petitioners lacked sufficient grounds to appeal the lower courts’ decision. As a formality, the high court said it would not make the Prop 8 judgment final until after a 25-day window in which supporters could request a re-hearing. Which they did, but the SCOTUS was apparently eager to move on from this much-watched case, as Kennedy turned down the appeal almost immediately. California thus becomes the 13th state in the nation with full marriage equality, with new licenses already being issued throughout the Golden State. More same-sex marriages were expected take place Sunday in accordance with the Pride parade and a reception for newly-married couples in San Francisco. Gay marriage :   Support Oppose View Poll »
